The ISSA Pedagogical Standards were first published in 2001 as a network-developed tool that defined quality in teaching practices and the classroom environment and captured the changes that had occurred in the region since 1994 when the Step by Step Program, an initiative to promote democratic principles in early childhood development and education, was launched. The Program was built on belief that each child has the right to receive maximum support for the development of his or her full potential, and this work should be done in partnership and close cooperation with families, communities and professionals

Perfiles de mercados de los 50 estados de USA

Dadas las condiciones del intercambio bilateral entre Colombia y los Estados Unidos (TLC), se pone en bandeja una serie de oportunidades positivas para todo el empresariado colombiano y sobre todo para el desarrollo y futuro de Colombia. Para que esto sea posible, es de suma importancia conocer un poco más a fondo no solo el territorio estadounidense, sino sus condiciones de mercado y maneras de ingresar los productos colombianos a ese país. Dado esto, el presente trabajo es un estudio exploratorio y detallado a propósito de revelar los Perfiles de mercado de los cincuenta Estados de los Estados Unidos, con la finalidad de generar un estado del arte acerca de los principales productos que se importan desde ese país, así también, para revelar las principales rutas de acceso utilizadas por los exportadores hacia sus respectivos destinos. Así pues, se pretende guiar a todo empresario sobre su movilidad terrestre y aérea en cada Estado, igualmente de ofrecer algunos consejos de movilidad y demás aspectos. Este documento es creado para apoyar y fomentar el crecimiento de las exportaciones a los Estados Unidos por medio y uso del Tratado de Libre Comercio entre las dos naciones. Esta herramienta es el resultado de una investigación seria, responsable con base a los resultados arrojados por diferentes bases de datos como WiserTrade, y el uso de fuentes de información gubernamentales.

Alcances y desafíos del proceso de hermanamiento “Sister Cities" desarrollado por la ciudad de Santa Marta en el marco de su proceso de internacionalización: 1978- 2013.

La evolución de los enfoques de la cooperación internacional y de los procesos de internacionalización de las ciudades han contribuido activamente al desarrollo territorial. Los hermanamientos como una herramienta clave para el intercambio social, político, económico, técnico y académico entre ciudades, se han convertido en uno de los métodos más utilizados para el accionar internacional. Bajo ese contexto, se analizará la influencia del proceso de internacionalización de Santa Marta en la implementación del hermanamiento “Sister Cities” con Miami Beach. Lo anterior, pretende demostrar que el proceso de internacionalización de la ciudad de Santa Marta, desde 1989 hasta la actualidad, ha influido directamente en el hermanamiento entre las dos ciudades, obviando oportunidades y beneficios. Finalmente, a partir del resultado de la investigación se sugerirá una alternativa de solución para la optimización del acuerdo entre las dos ciudades.

Se establecen conexiones recíprocas entre cómo un tipo de aprendizaje apoya al otro, es decir, entre el lenguaje oral y la escritura, entre la escritura y la lectura.

A teaching/learning support tool for introductory programming courses

In This work we present a Web-based tool developed with the aim of reinforcing teaching and learning of introductory programming courses. This tool provides support for teaching and learning. From the teacher's perspective the system introduces important gains with respect to the classical teaching methodology. It reinforces lecture and laboratory sessions, makes it possible to give personalized attention to the student, assesses the degree of participation of the students and most importantly, performs a continuous assessment of the student's progress. From the student's perspective it provides a learning framework, consisting in a help environment and a correction environment, which facilitates their personal work. With this tool students are more motivated to do programming

An automatic correction tool for relational database schemas

A Web-based tool developed to automatically correct relational database schemas is presented. This tool has been integrated into a more general e-learning platform and is used to reinforce teaching and learning on database courses. This platform assigns to each student a set of database problems selected from a common repository. The student has to design a relational database schema and enter it into the system through a user friendly interface specifically designed for it. The correction tool corrects the design and shows detected errors. The student has the chance to correct them and send a new solution. These steps can be repeated as many times as required until a correct solution is obtained. Currently, this system is being used in different introductory database courses at the University of Girona with very promising results

Reuse of paths in light source animation

In this paper we extend the reuse of paths to the shot from a moving light source. In the classical algorithm new paths have to be cast from each new position of a light source. We show that we can reuse all paths for all positions, obtaining in this way a theoretical maximum speed-up equal to the average length of the shooting path

Exploring chromium (VI) dioxodihalides chemistry: is density functional theory the most suitable tool?

A comparative systematic study of the CrO2F2 compound has been performed using different conventional ab initio methodologies and density functional procedures. Two points have been analyzed: first, the accuracy of results yielded by each method under study, and second, the computational cost required to reach such results. Weighing up both aspects, density functional theory has been found to be more appropriate than the Hartree-Fock (HF) and the analyzed post-HF methods. Hence, the structural characterization and spectroscopic elucidation of the full CrO2X2 series (X=F,Cl,Br,I) has been done at this level of theory. Emphasis has been given to the unknown CrO2I2 species, and specially to the UV/visible spectra of all four compounds. Furthermore, a topological analysis in terms of charge density distributions has revealed why the valence shell electron pair repulsion model fails in predicting the molecular shape of such CrO2X2 complexes
