La Táctica deportiva y la toma de decisiones

Este libro recoge las conferencias de las IV Jornadas de la Cátedra de Deporte y Educación Física de la UdG y I Seminario Internacional de táctica y técnica deportiva, dedicadas a "la táctica deportiva y la toma de decisiones ". En el planteamiento de este libro el lector encontrará, fundamentalmente, ideas y reflexiones alrededor del proceso de la toma de decisiones en los deportes colectivos. Desde nuestro punto de vista, este tema es especialmente trascendente en la comunidad científica deportiva en los últimos años. Desde la publicación del estudio de F. Mahlo (1969) sobre el acto táctico en el juego, el interés por comprender y descifrar los mecanismos subyacentes de la toma de decisiones en el deporte ha aumentado año tras año y en la actualidad es un tema de gran calado científico y práctico. Nuestro deseo es que el lector pueda encontrar en estas páginas, elementos de reflexión teórica y contenidos de estudios científicos interesantes; y esto tiene que ayudar, a todos aquellos que estamos preocupados por la investigación y el entrenamiento deportivo a mejorar el comportamiento táctico de nuestros deportistas

Un análisis de segmentación y perfil de los segmentos de los usuarios de vuelos de bajo coste

El conocimiento sobre los perfiles de los viajeros de bajo coste y de sus preferencias por las diversas características o atributos del vuelo es más bien escaso. La segmentación de mercados es un instrumento útil para los encargados de la toma de decisiones relacionadas con el turismo, ya sean públicos o privados. Esto es particularmente relevante en este contexto, desde el momento que el viaje de bajo coste es una nueva forma de atraer turistas a un destino turístico y no se sabe demasiado sobre las diferentes preferencias y valoraciones de estos viajeros. Este artículo evalúa la diversidad e importancia de estas preferencias mediante la identificación de diferentes segmentos de mercado aplicando un análisis de segmentación a posteriori. La segmentación se ha realizado aplicando técnicas de análisis cluster o de conglomerados sobre los datos obtenidos de una encuesta. A partir de la literatura consultada, se ha planteado como hipótesis que si bien la tarifa (bajo coste o precio bajo) es una variable de primer orden en la formación de posibles segmentos, no es la única, de forma que existen otras relativas a las características del vuelo o de la calidad percibida del destino turístico que también influyen diferenciando preferencias y generando otros potenciales segmentos de usuarios

Competência Social em contexto de carreira e autoconceito

A competência social é um construto multidimensional que abrange um conjunto de comportamentos aprendidos, socialmente aceites e que, deste modo, desempenha um papel fundamental no desenvolvimento humano em geral e, em particular, no funcionamento escolar e profissional, afetando as relações com os professores e pares e o sucesso académico e profissional (Lemos & Menezes, 2002). Por sua vez, o autoconceito, também descrito na literatura como um construto multidimensional que engloba um sistema de representações descritivas e avaliativas acerca do desempenho do self nos diferentes contextos e tarefas em que o sujeito se envolve, diz respeito à imagem que o sujeito tem de si próprio e aquilo que acredita ser (Veiga, 2006). A carreira é um exemplo de um processo sócio relacional (Blustein, 2011). Exige a capacidade do indivíduo para avaliar os conhecimentos de si e do meio, bem como para selecionar e implementar recursos sociais adequados para lidar com tarefas de carreira e desafios específicos. Tendo em consideração a falta de estudos teóricos e empíricos sobre a compreensão das competências sociais e do autoconceito no âmbito da carreira dos jovens adolescentes, este estudo tem como objetivo principal caracterizar as competências sociais em contexto de carreira e o autoconceito em alunos do 8º ano, bem como, analisar possíveis diferenças nos resultados em função de variáveis sociodemográficas. Além disso, pretende-se, ainda, analisar a influência do autoconceito nas competências sociais em contexto de carreira e vice-versa. Para o efeito, participaram neste estudo 306 estudantes de ambos os sexos, 163 raparigas (53,3%) e 143 rapazes (46,7%), com idades compreendidas entre 12 e 16 anos (M=13,28; DP=0,590). Estes jovens encontram-se a frequentar o 8º ano de escolaridade, em três estabelecimentos de ensino público da zona norte do país. Foram administrados dois questionários de auto relato, a Prova de Avaliação de Competência Social em contexto de Carreira (PACS-Car, Candeias, 2005 adaptada por Araújo & Taveira, 2009) para avaliar as competências sociais de carreira e, o Piers-Harris Children’s Self Concept Scale-2 (PHCSCS-2 – Piers & Herzberg, 2002, adaptado por Veiga, 2006), para avaliar o autoconceito. Os resultados indicam que os rapazes apresentam níveis mais elevados de desempenho pobre, ansiedade e popularidade, quando comparados com as raparigas e que os alunos mais novos apresentam níveis de desempenho excelente, aspeto comportamental e ansiedade superiores aos adolescentes mais velhos. Verificou-se, ainda, que as competências sociais em contexto de carreira parecem influenciar positivamente o autoconceito e vice-versa. São retiradas implicações para o processo de intervenção na carreira com jovens.

Geochemical precursors to volcanic activity at Mount St. Helens, USA

The importance of the interplay between degassing and crystallization before and after the eruption of Mount St. Helens (Washington, USA) in 1980 is well established. Here, we show that degassing occurred over a period of decades to days before eruptions and that the manner of degassing, as deduced from geochemicai signatures within the magma, was characteristic of the eruptive style. Trace element (lithium) and short-lived radioactive isotope (lead-210 and radium-226) data show that ascending magma stalled within the conduit, leading to the accumulation of volatiles and the formation of lead-210 excesses, which signals the presence of degassing magma at depth.

Construction contracts: law and management (3rd edition)

This book is aimed primarily at students for whom the study of building or civil engineering contracts forms part of a construction-based course. We have had in mind the syllabus requirements for first degrees in Building, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Quantity Surveying and Building Surveying, as well as those of postgraduate courses in Construction Management and Project Management. We have also assumed that such students will already have been introduced to the general principles of English law, especially those relating to contract and tort. As a result, while aspects of those subjects that are of particular relevance to construction are dealt with here, the reader must look elsewhere for the general legal background. In producing this third edition, we have again been greatly assisted by the many helpful comments made by reviewers and users of its predecessor. Nonetheless, our basic aim is identical to that which underpinned the first edition: to provide an explanation of the fundamental principles of construction contract law, rather than a clause-by-clause analysis of any particular standard-form contract. As a result, while we draw most frequently upon JCT 98 for our illustrations of particular points, this merely reflects the pre-eminent position occupied by that particular form of contract in the UK construction industry. We conclude by repeating our previous warning as to the dangers inherent in a little learning. Neither this book, nor the courses for which it is intended, seek to produce construction lawyers. The objective is rather to enable those who are not lawyers to resolve simple construction disputes before they become litigious, and to recognize when matters require professional legal advice. It should be the aim of every construction student to understand the legal framework sufficiently that they can instruct and brief specialist lawyers, and this book is designed to help them towards that understanding.

Roles in construction projects: analysis and terminology

Standard form contracts are typically developed through a negotiated consensus, unless they are proffered by one specific interest group. Previously published plans of work and other descriptions of the processes in construction projects tend to focus on operational issues, or they tend to be prepared from the point of view of one or other of the dominant interest groups. Legal practice in the UK permits those who draft contracts to define their terms as they choose. There are no definitive rulings from the courts that give an indication as to the detailed responsibilities of project participants. The science of terminology offers useful guidance for discovering and describing terms and their meanings in their practical context, but has never been used for defining terms for responsibilities of participants in the construction project management process. Organizational analysis enables the management task to be deconstructed into its elemental parts in order that effective organizational structures can be developed. Organizational mapping offers a useful technique for reducing text-based descriptions of project management roles and responsibilities to a comparable basis. Research was carried out by means of a desk study, detailed analysis of nine plans of work and focus groups representing all aspects of the construction industry. No published plan of work offers definitive guidance. There is an enormous amount of variety in the way that terms are used for identifying responsibilities of project participants. A catalogue of concepts and terms (a “Terminology”) has been compiled and indexed to enable those who draft contracts to choose the most appropriate titles for project participants. The purpose of this terminology is to enable the selection and justification of appropriate terms in order to help define roles. The terminology brings an unprecedented clarity to the description of roles and responsibilities in construction projects and, as such, will be helpful for anyone seeking to assemble a team and specify roles for project participants.
