Explorations of electric-current system in solar active regions .1. Empirical inferences of the current flows

In this paper we explore techniques to identify sources of electric current systems and their channels of flow in solar active regions. Measured photospheric vector magnetic fields (VMF) together with high-resolution white-light and H filtergrams provide the data base to derive the current systems in the photosphere and chromosphere. Simple mathematical constructions of fields and currents are also adopted to understand these data. As an example, the techniques are then applied to infer current systems in AR 2372 in early April 1980. The main results are: (i) In unipolar sunspots the current density may reach values of 103 CGSE, and the Lorentz force on it can accelerate the Evershed flow, (ii) Spots exhibiting significant spiral pattrn in the penumbral filaments are the sources of vertical major currents at the photospheric surface, (iii) Magnetic neutral lines where the transverse field was strongly sheared were channels along which strong current system flows, (iv) The inferred current systems produced oppositely-flowing currents in the area of the delta configuration that was the site of flaring in AR 2372.

Política de cotas raciais para ingresso em instituições públicas de ensino superior no Brasil : ausência de política pública

Descreve o atual panorama normativo para as cotas raciais no Brasil. Os resultados indicaram que a ausência de uma norma federal implicou na baixa adesão ao sistema de cotas, o que é ratificado pelo insignificante número de Instituições Públicas de Ensino Superior - IPES que adotaram norma de cota racial - apenas 17,79%. Verificou-se, ainda, que essa ausência cria lacunas na adoção de diretrizes nacionais para a interpretação e a compreensão das ações afirmativas. Tais lacunas refletem diretamente no ciclo da política pública, comprometendo a avaliação e o acompanhamento da efetividade e do sucesso da política, o que é extremamente perigoso para a segurança jurídica na área de direitos humanos e para a garantia da equidade de fato nos espaços político, econômico e sociais.

En definitiva: ¿Existe algo (facultad psicológica, órgano mental, sistema neurológico, módulo computacional…) que permita decir que las personas saben esto… o aquello… en el mismo sentido que las arañas saben tejer o los pájaros construir sus nidos?

压电材料椭圆切口的力学分析

在线性压电本构方程框架下，用复势函数方法对椭圆切口模型进行了精确的数值计算。完整地考虑了各向异性力电耦合效应以及切口内不同电介质的介电性质。给出了切口内部不同介电性质对压电材料内部应力的影响。指出了Sosa文章里的一些计算错误。由于现在文献中很小有关于电导通边界条件政府解的数值结果，所以本文同时提供了不同电边界条件下的理论解的数值结果。最后通过最小势能原理建立了8结点有限元模型，对椭圆切口问题进行了计算并与理论解进行了仔细比较。

O rito de tramitação das medidas provisórias e a questão da instalação das comissões mistas

Busca conhecer as razões pelas quais as comissões mistas não se instalam para apreciar as medidas provisórias. Para isso, foram analisados os precursores do instituto da medida provisória nas constituições republicanas no sentido de compará-los; observadas práticas políticas em detrimento às regras; verificadas manifestações das lideranças partidárias que colaboram para a instalação ou não das comissões; foram estudados casos de algumas comissões. Por último, foram analisadas propostas de emenda à Constituição na busca pela solução da questão, com a extinção ou criação de uma comissão mista permanente.

Nota sobre el cine “de romanos” en el siglo XXI

[ES] A la vista del sorprendente éxito de Gladiator (Ridley Scott, 2000) y del aparente revival del cine “de romanos” en el siglo XXI, puede tener su interés una reflexión sobre este fenómeno cultural y social. Ese es el objetivo de este texto, que analiza las diferentes películas rodadas en la última década y los debates surgidos en torno a la relación entre historia y ficción. En el texto se tratan igualmente los cambios sociológicos y culturales sufridos por las sociedades occidentales, muy diferentes de las de la edad dorada del peplum en el siglo XX, por ejemplo en torno al papel de la mujer o la opinión sobre la guerra, y que afectan a los esquemas tradicionales de este peculiar género cinematrográfico.

[ES]Este artículo pretende analizar la situación de la actividad siderometalúrgica guipuzcoana durante el siglo XVII y testar la verdadera repercusión de la crisis del siglo XVII en dicho sector. Para ello se ha utilizado un amplio elenco documental procedente tanto de archivos locales como regionales y nacionales, que responde a una amplia variedad tipológica.

The Impact of Endothall on the Aquatic Plant Community of Kress Lake, Washington

CA dense mat-forming population of Eurasian watermilfoil ( Myriophyllum spicatum L . ) was interfering with fishing and recreation in a small western Washington lake. A low concentration (1.5 mg/L active ingredient) of the herbicide endothall formulated as Aquathol® K was used in 2000 to attempt to selectively control the Eurasian watermilfoil. Aquatic plant biomass and frequency data were collected before treatment, ten weeks after treatment and during the growing season for 3 additional years. Macrophyte data were analyzed to assess the herbicide’s impacts on Eurasian watermilfoil as well as the rest of the aquatic plant community. Results showed a significant decrease in Eurasian watermilfoil biomass and frequency 10 weeks after treatment. The Eurasian watermilfoil continued to be present, but at a significantly reduced level through the remainder of the study (3 years after treatment). Of the native plant species, large-leaf pondweed ( Potamogeton amplifolius Tucker . ) frequency and biomass was significantly reduced after treatment. Common elodea ( Elodea canadensis Rich.), muskgrass ( Chara sp. Vallaint.) and bladderwort ( Utricularia sp. L.) all increased significantly after treatment. (PDF has 6 pages.)
