Transcript (original spelling and grammar retained): By His Excellency Robert Prescott Esquire, Captain General and Governor in Chief in and over His Majestys Provinces of Upper and Lower Canada, General and Commander in Chief of all His Majesty’s forces in the Provinces of Upper and Lower Canada, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and their several Dependencies and in the Island of Newfoundland &ca. &ca. &ca. I do hereby authorise and permit Thomas Clark of Queenstown in the County of Lincoln in the Province of Upper Canada merchant to take possession of all that Lot, piece and parcel of Land (being part of the land reserved by his Majesty for Military purposes) situate, lying and being at Queenstown in the Township of Newark, in the Home District in the said Province of Upper Canada, bounded and abutted as follows, that is to say beginning at the Distance of two Chains and ninety links from the South East End of his Majesty’s Store House, the said distance being measured along the Bank up Stream, thence South thirty nine degrees and an half West one Chain and fifty links thence south fifty degrees and an half East one Chain and thirty links thence North thirty nine degrees and an half East to the Edge of the Bank and from thence along the Bank to the place of beginning, containing thirty one perches and one hundred and twenty five square links and to occupy and hold the said Lot, piece and parcel of Land during pleasure subject nevertheless to the provisoes and Conditions herein after contained, that is to say. First on condition that it shall and may be lawful to and for His Majesty his Heirs and Successors and to and for the Commander in Chief of His Majesty Forces for the time being and to and for the Officer commanding his Majesty’s Forces in Upper Canada for the time being and to and for either of them to determine and make void this present permission to occupy during pleasure the said Lot, Piece or Parcel of Land above described at any time hereafter whenever he or they shall see fit so to do without any compensation or indemnification to the said Thomas Clark or any other Person or Persons whosoever for any Loss Injury or Damage which he the said Thomas Clark or any other Person or Persons whosoever may thereby sustain. Secondly on this further Condition that it shall and may be lawful to and for His Majesty his Heirs and Successors and to and for his and their Officers, Soldiers and Servants at any time hereafter by order of the Commander in Chief of His Majesty’s Forces for the time being or by order of the Officer commanding his Majesty’s forces in Upper Canada for the time being or by order of the Officer of His Majesty’s Corps of Royal Engineers commanding in the said Province of Upper Canada for the time being to enter upon the said Lot Piece and parcel of Land which the said Thomas Clark is hereby permitted to occupy during pleasure or upon any part thereof and to take down and from the said Lot piece and parcel of Land or from any part thereof to remove any dwelling House Store or other Buildings on the said Lot, piece or Parcel of Land or any part thereof erected and to remove any goods or Chattels on the said Lot piece and parcel of Land or on any part thereof or on any such dwelling House Store or other building found or being and that His Majesty his Heirs and Successors or any other Person or Persons whosoever shall not be liable or responsible to the said Thomas Clark or to any other Person or Persons whosoever for any Loss, Injury or Damage which he or they shall or may in such case sustain. Thirdly on this further Condition that the said Thomas Clark shall not erect on the said Lot Piece or Parcel of Land which the said Thomas Clark is hereby permitted to occupy during pleasure or upon any part thereof at any time or times hereafter any dwelling House store or other Building whatsoever of Stone or brick or of any other materials wood only exccepted and that if any dwelling House or Store or other building of Stone or brick or of any other materials except wood shall at any time be erected on the said Lot, piece or parcel of Land or upon any part thereof, then and in such case, this present permission and every Clause and Article thereof shall from thenceforth cease and determine and be absolutely and entirely null and void. Pédérastie, pédophilie : filiation, rupture, déviance

Cette recherche propose une réflexion sur les enjeux que recouvre la pédophilie dans la société occidentale contemporaine. Dans le premier chapitre, il sera d’abord question d’autorité : afin de bien comprendre le rapport entretenu avec l’autorité et l’importance accordée au système hiérarchique dans la société occidentale contemporaine, nous établirons une comparaison avec les sociétés grecques puisque celles-ci ont accepté et valorisé les relations intergénérationnelles. C’est à travers une lecture de différents textes de Michel Foucault et de Kenneth James Dover que nous approfondirons ces rapports. Cette première partie sera essentielle en ce qu’elle nous aidera à comprendre la façon dont les bases de la société occidentale contemporaine ont été édifiées, l’importance de la catégorisation des genres et les raisons du rejet des relations pédophiliques aujourd’hui. Dans le second chapitre, nous analyserons plus spécifiquement deux œuvres littéraires, La Mort à Venise de Thomas Mann et Quand mourut Jonathan de Tony Duvert, afin de percevoir le malaise que provoque la pédophilie. C’est notamment à travers une étude des figures sociales et de l’éducation que nous tenterons de saisir la place attribuée à la pédophilie. Cette étude se terminera par une réflexion autour de la photographie et du cinéma, afin de souligner l’impact apporté par le réalisme de ces arts. Nous aborderons ici des œuvres non pornographiques qui exposent des sexualités existantes mais non reconnues. Les différents aspects abordés nous permettront non seulement de saisir l’embarras que suscite la pédophilie, mais également de capter la place qu’on y accorde, ou non, au sein de la société contemporaine.

La rencontre des contraires : attraction/narration et immersion/réflexivité dans le film en IMAX 3-D

Ce mémoire est consacré à la question de la réception spectatorielle des films en IMAX 3-D. Dans un premier temps, nous retracerons l’histoire du cinéma stéréoscopique, des origines jusqu’à l’inauguration de l’IMAX 3-D en 1986. Nous verrons que le modèle de l’attraction cinématographique s’est maintenu de tout temps dans l’économie de ce format, ce qui a contribué aux échecs de son institutionnalisation dans les années 50 et 80. En un deuxième temps, nous nous intéresserons à l’« expérience IMAX », afin de cerner la position qui y est attribuée au spectateur. Nous montrerons que les films IMAX misent à la fois sur leur potentiel immersif et sur la mise en évidence du dispositif. L’état d’immersion du spectateur entre donc en dialogue avec la réflexivité du médium. Par l’analyse des films Sea Monsters : A Prehistoric Adventure et Haunted Castle, il sera démontré que cette tension entre immersion et réflexivité sert un discours de glorification de l’IMAX. Aussi, nous interrogeons les liens entre la structure ponctuelle imposée par le modèle attractionnel et le fil narratif immanquablement mis en place dans les films IMAX.

La cruauté au féminin : mythes et sacrifice dans La Comtesse sanglante de Valentine Penrose

Résumé Ce mémoire consiste en une étude de la transgression en ce qui a trait au lieu, au personnage et aux sacrifices dans La Comtesse sanglante (1962) de Valentine Penrose, une auteure et artiste qui a fait partie du mouvement surréaliste dès 1926. À partir de l’idée directrice du sacrifice et du sacré, nous exposons, dans un premier temps, l’état transgressif de la criminelle historique Erzsébet Báthory, présentée dans le récit comme une beauté fixe masquant une âme monstrueuse. Dans un deuxième temps, nous examinons la cruauté et la théâtralité des sacrifices pulsionnels qui servent la propre déification de la protagoniste. Partant de la théorie de la transgression de Foucault de laquelle nous dégageons l’idée du seuil, le premier chapitre présente la marginalité de l’univers de la meurtrière présenté comme une extension de son corps, du château en tant que structure froide et vide à l’intérieur. Dans le deuxième chapitre, nous mettons en corrélation la violence et le sacré en rapport, d’une part, aux mises en scène sacrificielles et au rôle de chaque femme participant aux sacrifices, et d’autre part, à la progression de la cruauté dans le récit. Dans le troisième chapitre sont explorés le phénomène de la rumeur et la filiation mythique du personnage par la réécriture de deux figures monstrueuses : la Méduse et Lilith. Par ces analyses, ce mémoire a pour but de faire connaître davantage l’auteure et de dégager la singularité de la comtesse Báthory dépeinte par Penrose comme l’archétype de la transgression au féminin.

La Parenthèse ; suivi de Tensions et enfermement dans les Cent Vingt Journées de Sodome du marquis de Sade

Ce mémoire en recherche-création explore l’enfermement volontaire et les différents types de tensions qu’il provoque. Court roman prenant la forme du journal intime, La Parenthèse met en scène un jeune homme qui décide de s’enfermer chez lui une semaine durant et s’interdit tout contact avec l’extérieur – autant pour prendre un congé temporaire de la vie qu’il mène que pour examiner les raisons de sa détresse quotidienne. Le monologue intérieur se transforme rapidement en dialogue, dès lors qu’un double vindicatif, interrompant la voix principale par des « répliques » entre parenthèses, fait son apparition. Une relation houleuse – sous tension – se tisse entre ces deux facettes du personnage tout au long des sept jours de la réclusion, les passages de dispute alternant avec des récits de souvenirs. En somme, le roman tente de dramatiser la question de l’emprisonnement de soi-même et de la limitation de l’écriture, cette limitation pouvant être à la fois malsaine et libératrice. Quant à l’essai, Tensions et enfermement dans les Cent Vingt Journées de Sodome du marquis de Sade, il part du thème de l’enfermement (en l’occurrence, celui des quatre amis qui exécutent le projet de passer quatre mois dans un château isolé) pour postuler une « architecture du désir » dans Les Cent Vingt Journées de Sodome. L’essai mobilise les ressources de la narratologie en prenant en compte les effets du texte sur le lecteur ; sont ainsi mises en évidence les tensions – sexuelle pour les protagonistes, narrative pour le lecteur – élaborées par cette écriture de l’enfermement et de la contrainte, dans laquelle le désir est toujours maintenu mais rarement satisfait.

Statistical modeling on coordinates

This paper is a first draft of the principle of statistical modelling on coordinates. Several causes —which would be long to detail—have led to this situation close to the deadline for submitting papers to CODAWORK’03. The main of them is the fast development of the approach along the last months, which let appear previous drafts as obsolete. The present paper contains the essential parts of the state of the art of this approach from my point of view. I would like to acknowledge many clarifying discussions with the group of people working in this field in Girona, Barcelona, Carrick Castle, Firenze, Berlin, G¨ottingen, and Freiberg. They have given a lot of suggestions and ideas. Nevertheless, there might be still errors or unclear aspects which are exclusively my fault. I hope this contribution serves as a basis for further discussions and new developments

El problema de Alhacén

El presente documento es un estudio detallado del problema conocido bajo el título de Problema de Alhacén. Este problema fue formulado en el siglo X por el filósofo y matemático árabe conocido en occidente bajo el nombre de Alhacén. El documento hace una breve presentación del filósofo y una breve reseña de su trascendental tratado de óptica Kitab al-Manazir. A continuación el documento se detiene a estudiar cuidadosamente los lemas requeridos para enfrentar el problema y se presentan las soluciones para el caso de los espejos esféricos (convexos y cóncavos), cilíndricos y cónicos. También se ofrece una conjetura que habría de explicar la lógica del descubrimiento implícita en la solución que ofreció Alhacén. Tanto los lemas como las soluciones se han modelado en los software de geometría dinámica Cabri II-Plus y Cabri 3-D. El lector interesado en seguir dichas modelaciones debe contar con los programas mencionados para adelantar la lectura de los archivos. En general, estas presentaciones constan de tres partes: (i) formulación del problema (se formula en forma concisa el problema); (ii) esquema general de la construcción (se presentan los pasos esenciales que conducen a la construcción solicitada y las construcciones auxiliares que demanda el problema), esta parte se puede seguir en los archivos de Cabri; y (iii) demostración (se ofrece la justificación detallada de la construcción requerida). Los archivos en Cabri II plus cuentan con botones numerados que pueden activarse haciendo “Click” sobre ellos. La numeración corresponde a la numeración presente en el documento. El lector puede desplazar a su antojo los puntos libres que pueden reconocerse porque ellos se distinguen con la siguiente marca (º). Los puntos restantes no pueden modificarse pues son el resultado de construcciones adelantadas y ajustadas a los protocolos recomendados en el esquema general.

Revisión sistemática de la literatura: efecto de los rellenos inyectables en la región periorbitaria

Introducción: El conocimiento actual de la fisiopatología del envejecimiento periorbitario justifica la aplicación de materiales de relleno inyectables, dado que se enfocan en la restauración del volumen perdido en esta zona, convirtiéndose en una excelente alternativa a procedimientos quirúrgicos que remueven el tejido excedente. Sin embargo los efectos y la seguridad de esta naciente tendencia terapéutica aún no se sustentan en una sólida base científica. El objetivo de esta revisión es identificar el material de relleno inyectable más adecuado para el manejo de los defectos volumétricos estéticos de la región periorbitaria. Metodología: Se realizó una búsqueda exhaustiva de los artículos indexados publicados del 1º de enero de 2.000 al 30 de septiembre de 2.013, en diversas bases de datos electrónicas, se seleccionaron catorce publicaciones, se extrajo la información referente a datos demográficos, la intervención, el seguimiento y los desenlaces y se realizó un análisis de 14 estudios que cumplieron los criterios. Resultados: Todos los artículos incluidos poseían un bajo nivel de evidencia y del grado de recomendación. Todos los materiales de relleno se asociaron a altos niveles de satisfacción para el paciente, adecuada mejoría de la apariencia estética y similares efectos colaterales, el ácido hialurónico fue el material de relleno inyectable más utilizado en la región periorbitaria. Discusión: Los materiales de relleno inyectable mejoran los defectos volumétricos estéticos de la región periorbitaria pero es necesaria mayor evidencia para determinar el tipo relleno más apropiado para esta condición.

Grado de aclaramiento de tatuajes y eventos adversos, posterior a una sesión con láser q-switch

Introducción: Los resultados de la remoción de tatuajes con láser de sesión a sesión según los parámetros utilizados son limitados en la literatura. Objetivo: Evaluar los cambios en el aclaramiento de tatuajes y factores asociados posterior a una sesión con láser y los efectos adversos. Materiales y Métodos: Estudio longitudinal retrospectivo de antes y después de 1 sesión de con láser para remoción de tatuajes, donde se determinaron parámetros del tratamiento, aclaramiento y efectos adversos. Resultados: Se evaluaron 35 pacientes para un total de 98 sesiones, fototipo de piel II y IV. Equipos utilizados laser Q-Switch Nd Yag 1064 (83.3%), láser Q-Switch Nd YAG 532(11.3%) y laser Q-Switch Rubí (4.1%). El aclaramiento posterior a la sesión de láser fue evaluado por dos evaluadores independientes, mostrando concordancia significativa (Kappa de 0.615, p<0.001), con aclaración en un 96% de los tatuajes después de la sesión de láser. (p< 0.001). Se encontraron cambios significativos entre la densidad de energía aplicada y las categorías de aclaramiento de la escala de 0 a 3, siendo a mayor densidad mayor el nivel de aclaramiento (p= 0.05). No se encontró asociación significativa entre el número de pases y el aclaramiento del tatuaje. Los efectos adversos fueron del 5.4%. Cicatriz 2%, hiperpigmentación 2% y hipopigmentación 1%. Conclusión: Posterior a una sesión de remoción de tatuajes con láser Q-Switch hay un aclaramiento significativo en un 96% asociado con la densidad de energía, a mayor densidad de energía mayor el nivel de aclaramiento y no al número de pases realizados.

La naturalización de las emociones: anotaciones a partir de Wittgenstein

En la literatura sobre las emociones, una de las teorías con mayor fuerza es la llamada teoría James-Lange. Este texto intenta hacer una crítica a esta teoría a partir de algunas observaciones de Wittgenstein sobre el uso de conceptos psicológicos, sacando a la luz dos confusiones gramaticales que surgen en ella. Para ello, se construye primero la categoría de «programa de naturalización de las emociones» que recoge las teorías de Descartes, James y Prinz, siguiendo la metodología de Lakatos. Luego, se identifica como problema central el de la naturalización de la intencionalidad. Con esto en mente, se exponen algunas herramientas wittgensteinianas para estudiar la gramática de la pregunta por el objeto y la intencionalidad de las emociones, mostrando que las respuestas del programa de naturalización no son satisfactorias y no respetan las reglas de ciertos usos de lenguaje.

Distribución hiperbólica generalizada: una aplicación en la selección de portafolios y en la cuantificación de medidas de riesgo de mercado

En este trabajo se implementa una metodología para incluir momentos de orden superior en la selección de portafolios, haciendo uso de la Distribución Hiperbólica Generalizada, para posteriormente hacer un análisis comparativo frente al modelo de Markowitz.

Option pricing in market models driven by telegraph processes with jumps

Esta tesis está dividida en dos partes: en la primera parte se presentan y estudian los procesos telegráficos, los procesos de Poisson con compensador telegráfico y los procesos telegráficos con saltos. El estudio presentado en esta primera parte incluye el cálculo de las distribuciones de cada proceso, las medias y varianzas, así como las funciones generadoras de momentos entre otras propiedades. Utilizando estas propiedades en la segunda parte se estudian los modelos de valoración de opciones basados en procesos telegráficos con saltos. En esta parte se da una descripción de cómo calcular las medidas neutrales al riesgo, se encuentra la condición de no arbitraje en este tipo de modelos y por último se calcula el precio de las opciones Europeas de compra y venta.

Variación en la resistencia al flujo de los tubos endotraqueales pediátricos modificando su longitud

Introducción: Se conocen los beneficios del uso de los tubos endotraqueales con neumotaponador, aunque dicha práctica tiene un impacto sobre el trabajo respiratorio durante el acto anestésico sin embargo se propone estudiar las consecuencias físicas de la variación en la longitud de los tubos para compensar dicha perdida de flujo, con base en la ley de Hagen-Poiseuille. Metodología: Se realizó un estudio experimental in vitro, en el cual se realizaron mediciones repetidas de flujo, variando la longitud y diámetro de diferentes tubos endotraqueales pediátricos (desde calibre 3.5mm hasta 6.5mm), con longitudes de 20cm, 15 cm, 10 cm y manteniendo su longitud original. Se analizaron los datos con el fin de medir el impacto sobre el flujo. Resultados: A pesar que los resultados muestran diferencias estadísticamente significativas (p0,000), la variación en la longitud de los tubos endotraqueales pediátricos tiene mucho menor impacto sobre la variación en el flujo, que la modificación del diámetro. Discusión: Si bien la práctica de acortar la longitud de un tubo endotraqueal pediátrico puede ayudar a reducir el espacio muerto y la retención de CO2, el impacto que tiene sobre el flujo es poco. Cuando se trata de disminuir el trabajo respiratorio de un niño en ventilación espontánea durante el acto anestésico, se debe escoger de forma apropiada el calibre de tubo correspondiente para la edad.
