Today's communication networks consist of numerous interdependent network components. To manage these networks and to ensure their reliable and efficient operation to meet the increasing customer usability demands, extensive network management tools are required from the service provider. The goal of this study was to adapt the Next Generation Network (NGN) providing VoIP services within a performance oriented network management system. This study focuses only on NGN network and the project was implemented as an assignment of the Network Operations Center of Elisa Corporation. The theoretical part of this study introduces the network environment of the Elisa NGN platform: its components and used signalling protocols as well as other exploitable communication protocols. In addition, the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) is closely examined since it is commonly used as the basis of IP (Internet Protocol) network management. Also some primary applications enabled by the NGN technology are introduced. The empirical part of this study contains a short overview of the implemented network performance management system and its properties. The most crucial monitored MIB modules, SNMP parameters and implemented performance measurements are described. The trap topology and the role of the traps for management of the NGN platform are considered and finally, the conclusion based on the several disquisitions is made supported with suggestions for future improvements.

In Russian there are more than twenty thousand primary substations 35/110 kV and 10/110 kV. According to the Government Plan of Power Industry Development until 2020 year more than hundred new substations will e installed every year and even more renewed. The goal of this Thesis is to find out in this business environment what are the technology opportunities of prefabricated substation modules in new substation or in modernization of old substations in Russia.

Tuotealustapohjaisella suunnittelulla pyritään hyödyntämään jo kertaalleen hyväksi todettuja kokonaisuuksia ja moduuleja, joiden avulla voidaan nopeasti suunnitella uusia tuotteita. Tarkoituksena on suunnitella asiakkaan näkökulmasta monia erilaisia tuotteita jopa sarjatuotannon kustannustehokkuudella. Tutkimuksessa esitetään risteilijän tuotealustapohjainen suunnitteluprosessi. Lisäksi työn tavoitteena on tutkia uuden suunnitteluprosessin vaikutukset risteilijän suunnitteluaikatauluihin. Tutkimuksessa haastateltiin Turun telakan suunnitteluosaston ja kehitysosaston johtajia. Haastatteluilla selvitettiin nykyisen suunnitteluprosessin haasteita, joiden nähtiin erityisesti viivästyttävät suunnitteluaikatauluja. Keskeisiä haasteita ovat suunnitteluresurssien ylikuormitus ja suunnittelulaadun huonontuminen. Lisäksi kartoitettiin tavoitteet risteilijän tuotealustaratkaisulle ja suunnitteluaikataululle. Haastattelukierroksen pohjalta ja teoriaa soveltaen analysoitiin risteilijän modulaariseen tuotealustaan perustuva suunnitteluprosessi. Tätä suunnitteluprosessia tutkittiin edelleen case-tutkimuksessa jääasemien osalta, jossa haastateltiin kyseisten alueiden suunnittelijoita. Lisäksi case-tutkimuksessa verrattiin jääaseman ja baaripentterin perussuunnittelun vaiheita toisiinsa. Näistä saatuja tutkimustuloksia verrattiin hyttialueen vakioidun perussuunnitteluohjeen vaikutuksiin suunnitteluprosessissa. Onnistunut tuotealustapohjainen suunnittelu vaatii sitoutumista jokaisella organisaation tasolla, jotta tuotealustassa olevien vakioituja moduuleja myös käytettäisiin. Modulaarisesta toiminnasta siirtyminen tuotealustapohjaiseen suunnitteluun vaatii vakioituja moduuleja ja vakioituja rajapintoja risteilijässä. Case-tutkimuksessa ja johtopäätöksissä on todettu uuden suunnitteluprosessin lyhentävän ja tuovan kustannussäästöjä tuotteen valmistusprosessissa.

This thesis deals with a hardware accelerated Java virtual machine, named REALJava. The REALJava virtual machine is targeted for resource constrained embedded systems. The goal is to attain increased computational performance with reduced power consumption. While these objectives are often seen as trade-offs, in this context both of them can be attained simultaneously by using dedicated hardware. The target level of the computational performance of the REALJava virtual machine is initially set to be as fast as the currently available full custom ASIC Java processors. As a secondary goal all of the components of the virtual machine are designed so that the resulting system can be scaled to support multiple co-processor cores. The virtual machine is designed using the hardware/software co-design paradigm. The partitioning between the two domains is flexible, allowing customizations to the resulting system, for instance the floating point support can be omitted from the hardware in order to decrease the size of the co-processor core. The communication between the hardware and the software domains is encapsulated into modules. This allows the REALJava virtual machine to be easily integrated into any system, simply by redesigning the communication modules. Besides the virtual machine and the related co-processor architecture, several performance enhancing techniques are presented. These include techniques related to instruction folding, stack handling, method invocation, constant loading and control in time domain. The REALJava virtual machine is prototyped using three different FPGA platforms. The original pipeline structure is modified to suit the FPGA environment. The performance of the resulting Java virtual machine is evaluated against existing Java solutions in the embedded systems field. The results show that the goals are attained, both in terms of computational performance and power consumption. Especially the computational performance is evaluated thoroughly, and the results show that the REALJava is more than twice as fast as the fastest full custom ASIC Java processor. In addition to standard Java virtual machine benchmarks, several new Java applications are designed to both verify the results and broaden the spectrum of the tests.

Tässä diplomityössä tarkoituksena on kerätä yhteen toiminnanohjausjärjestelmän varasto- ja hankintamodulin kehittämisessä tarvittavaa teoriatietoa, sekä Nestix Oy:n asiakkaiden ja joidenkin muiden yritysten tarpeita kyseiselle ohjelmistolle. Teoria ja tarpeet yhdistetään karkeaksi ohjelmiston tarvemäärittelyksi, jonka perusteella Nestix Oy toteuttaa uudet modulit toiminnanohjausjärjestelmäänsä. Tutkimuksissa havaittiin, että yrityksillä on hyvin samankaltaisia tarpeita varastojen ja hankintojen hallintaan. Varastoinnin ja hankinnan prosessit poikkeavat hyvin vähän yritysten välillä. Samoja perinteisiä logistiikan perustyökaluja käytetään miltei kaikissa yrityksissä. Tulevaisuuden houkuttelevimpana kehitysalueena voidaan pitää ohjelmistojen internet-pohjaisuutta, joka mahdollistaa ohjelmiston käyttämisen mistäpäin maailmaa tahansa ilman erillisiä ohjelmistoasennuksia. Tutkimuksen jälkeen Nestix-ohjelmistoperheeseen toteutettiin integroidut hankinnan sekä varastoinnin modulit. Ohjelmaa on kehitetty tutkimuksen tekemisen jälkeen eteenpäin ja sitä on myyty useaan Euroopan maahan osana Nestix toiminnanohjausjärjestelmää.

Tässä diplomityössä tutkitaan Metso Mineralsin moduuli- sekä tuoterakennemaailmaa. Työn tarkoituksena on löytää uusia mahdollisuuksia moduuli- ja tuoterakennemaailman kuvaamiseen sekä niiden hallitsemiseen. Työssä otetaan kantaa asioihin pääsääntöisesti moduulin näkökulmasta. Työssä määritellään kohdeyritystä parhaiten palveleva varioituvan moduulin periaatteellinen rakenne. Työssä annetaan moduulien uudelleenkäytön tehostamiseen sekä helpottamiseen tähtääviä ehdotuksia. Varioituvien moduulien näkökulmasta tarkastellaan nykyisiä tuoterakenneperiaatteita, ja ehdotetaan uutta tapaa lähestyä lopputuotteita. Varioituvien moduulien ja uusien tuoterakenteiden johtamiseen liittyvistä toimenpiteistä annetaan ehdotuksia, sekä määritellään niille omistajuudet. Työn lopputuloksena saadaan kokonaisvaltainen näkemys mahdollisesta tavasta nähdä ja hallita moduuli- ja tuoterakennemaailma.

Tässä työssä tarkastellaan taajuusmuuttajan vanhenemista syklisissä käytöissä puolijohdetehokomponenttien osalta. Laitteiden vikaantumisprosessien analysoimiseksi työssä suunnitellaan syklinen kestotestausjärjestelmä, joka mahdollistaa useamman taajuusmuuttajan yhtäaikaisen vanhentamisen. Jaksottaisesti toistuvat kuormitussyklit rasittavat termomekaanisesti taajuusmuuttajan tehomoduulin sisäisiä rakenteita suurten lämpötilavaihtelujen johdosta. Teoriaosuuden pääpaino kohdistuu puolijohdetehokomponenttien rakenteeseen, vikaantumisprosesseihin ja eliniän kartoittamiseen. Työssä käydään läpi yleisimpien pienijännitteisten moottorinohjausinverttereiden tehomoduulien mekaaniset rakenteet, tyypillisemmät syklisestä kuormituksesta johtuvat vikaantumisprosessit sekä puolijohdetehokomponenttivalmistajien käyttämät syklisen eliniän testausmenetelmät. Loppuosassa työtä suunnitellaan taajuusmuuttajan syklinen kestotestausjärjestelmä laitteiden keinotekoista vanhentamista varten. Testausjärjestelmällä voidaan kuormittaa useampaa taajuusmuuttajaa vuorottain mielivaltaisella kuormitusvirtaprofiililla. Laitteita vanhennettiin kaksi testierää kuormittamalla niitä jaksottaisesti hissikäytön tyypillisellä kuormitusprofiililla. Puolijohdetehokomponentin vanhenemisen edistystä seurattiin termisen impedanssiketjun mittausmenetelmällä, joka perustuu IGBT:n kollektoriemitterijännitteen lämpötilariippuvuuteen. Testilaitteiden puolijohdetehokomponentit hajosivat syklisen eliniän päättymiseen teoriassa esitettyjen vikaantumisprosessien seurauksesta. Tehomoduulien vika-analyysi osoittaa syklisen kestotestausjärjestelmän soveltuvaksi menetelmäksi tutkia erilaisten kuormitusprofiilien vaikutusta taajuusmuuttajan vanhenemiseen.

Succestul players of the university game? A study about the short duration of master’s degree studies and graduating at a young age The duration of studies has long been a topic of conversation. It was first mentioned in 1883, but the discussion has been quite active and topical for the last fifty years. During that time, there have been numerous committees, working groups for the Ministry of Education, and revisions to the structure of the master’s degree program. All of these have focused on lowering the duration of studies as well as the age at which students graduate. These two factors have been regarded as indicators of efficiency. Achieving these goals is seen to promote the successful transition from studies to work. In addition, the greater time that people spend working is thought to help with the fiscal burden of an aging population. The reasons for prolonged study seem to be: students working during the course of their studies; the actual workload of the studies, which sometimes does not correlate with the calculated workload; problems with the students’ course selections and with their financial support from the government; issues in teaching; and problems with university funding. This study focuses on students’ study experiences, their progress, and the university itself. Of particular interest was the students’ use of different resources—cultural, social, and economical capital. Participants in the study had graduated from the University of Turku between the years of 1999 and 2001 and were divided into two groups: prompt graduates, those who graduated among the fastest 18th percent in their faculty; and those who graduated at a slower pace. A survey (N=499) and interviews (N=69) were among the methods used, along with a compilation of statistics on the students’ duration of studies, the number of modules studied, and marks obtained. Bourdieu’s theory about fields and the games people play in those fields formed the theoretical background of this study. The university was seen to form a playing field with historically and politically changeable rules. The students playing in this field were considered to possess different economical, social, and cultural resources, which they use more or less successfully. Some of the strategies used by students result in gra¬duating at a young age and/or a short duration of study; some do not. This study divided the age of graduation and the duration of study into separate games. This allowed the study to determine the relationship between these two factors and to examine their similarities and differences. The study also focused on the idea of success. Short duration of studies and a young graduation age can be considered, be some, an indication of success in navigating the university field. This study aimed to see if this concept held true or whether these seeming indicators of success have negative side effects. The main result of this study is that, even though the games of duration and age have similarities, they are sufficiently diverse to be considered separate games, which need different resources. To graduate with a short duration of studies, it is important for a student to successfully view and navigate the university field, tailoring one’s studies and extracurricular activities to suit the individual. In the game of youth, the background of the student seemed to be of greater importance. The youngest graduates had spent more time with their parents, who also had higher educational qualifications. They also had higher achievement in their previous studies. This seems to indicate that their background allowed them to assimilate a better understanding of the school and university fields and that playing the university game was natural for them. As for the aspect of success, it seems that there are many ways to define the term. Youth on graduation and short duration of studies can be seen as two indicators of success. Both revealed negative and positive outcomes, even though short duration of studies seemed more often to be connected with positive outcomes. However, it seems that the best indicator for success is the way in which students organize study into their lives to support and suit their needs and abilities to realize a meaningful life and a successful entry into the field of work.

An oscillating overvoltage has become a common phenomenon at the motor terminal in inverter-fed variable-speed drives. The problem has emerged since modern insulated gate bipolar transistors have become the standard choice as the power switch component in lowvoltage frequency converter drives. Theovervoltage phenomenon is a consequence of the pulse shape of inverter output voltage and impedance mismatches between the inverter, motor cable, and motor. The overvoltages are harmful to the electric motor, and may cause, for instance, insulation failure in the motor. Several methods have been developed to mitigate the problem. However, most of them are based on filtering with lossy passive components, the drawbacks of which are typically their cost and size. In this doctoral dissertation, application of a new active du/dt filtering method based on a low-loss LC circuit and active control to eliminate the motor overvoltages is discussed. The main benefits of the method are the controllability of the output voltage du/dt within certain limits, considerably smaller inductances in the filter circuit resulting in a smaller physical component size, and excellent filtering performance when compared with typical traditional du/dt filtering solutions. Moreover, no additional components are required, since the active control of the filter circuit takes place in the process of the upper-level PWM modulation using the same power switches as the inverter output stage. Further, the active du/dt method will benefit from the development of semiconductor power switch modules, as new technologies and materials emerge, because the method requires additional switching in the output stage of the inverter and generation of narrow voltage pulses. Since additional switching is required in the output stage, additional losses are generated in the inverter as a result of the application of the method. Considerations on the application of the active du/dt filtering method in electric drives are presented together with experimental data in order to verify the potential of the method.

Diplomityössä suunnitellaan ja toteutetaan teollisuusympäristöön soveltuva langaton vääntömomentin mittausjärjestelmä. Langaton tiedonsiirto toteutetaan soveltaen Zigbee-radiotekniikkaan perustuvia XBee-moduuleja. Käyttökohteina sovellukselle ovat pyörivät akselit, joihin langallisen mittausjärjestelmän asentaminen on hankalaa tai mahdotonta. Työssä kuvataan järjestelmän toiminnallisuus, esitellään oleellisimmat järjestelmän rakenteeseen ja toimintaan liittyvät asiat, arvioidaan järjestelmän mittausepävarmuus sekä esitellään järjestelmällä saatuja mittaustuloksia. Lisäksi osaa mittaustuloksista verrataan referenssilaitteistolla saataviin tuloksiin.

Multilevel converters provide an attractive solution to bring the benefits of speed-controlled rotational movement to high-power applications. Therefore, multilevel inverters have attracted wide interest in both the academic community and in the industry for the past two decades. In this doctoral thesis, modulation methods suitable especially for series connected H-bridge multilevel inverters are discussed. A concept of duty cycle modulation is presented and its modification is proposed. These methods are compared with other well-known modulation schemes, such as space-vector pulse width modulation and carrier-based modulation schemes. The advantage of the modified duty-cycle modulation is its algorithmic simplicity. A similar mathematical formulation for the original duty cycle modulation is proposed. The modified duty cycle modulation is shown to produce well-formed phase-to-neutral voltages that have lower total harmonic distortion than the space-vector pulse width modulation and the duty cycle modulation. The space-vector-based solution and the duty cycle modulation, on the other hand, result in a better-quality line-to-line voltage and current waveform. The voltage of the DC links in the modules of the series-connected H-bridge inverter are shown to fluctuate while they are under load. The fluctuation causes inaccuracies in the voltage production, which may result in a failure of the flux estimator in the controller. An extension for upper-level modulation schemes, which changes the switching instants of the inverter so that the output voltage meets the reference voltage accurately regardless of the DC link voltages, is proposed. The method is shown to reduce the error to a very low level when a sufficient switching frequency is used. An appropriate way to organize the switching instants of the multilevel inverter is to make only one-level steps at a time. This causes restrictions on the dynamical features of the modulation schemes. The produced voltage vector cannot be rotated several tens of degrees in a single switching period without violating the above-mentioned one-level-step rule. The dynamical capabilities of multilevel inverters are analyzed in this doctoral thesis, and it is shown that the multilevel inverters are capable of operating even in dynamically demanding metal industry applications. In addition to the discussion on modulation schemes, an overvoltage in multilevel converter drives caused by cable reflection is addressed. The voltage reflection phenomenon in drives with long feeder cables causes premature insulation deterioration and also affects the commonmode voltage, which is one of the main reasons for bearing currents. Bearing currents, on the other hand, cause fluting in the bearings, which results in premature bearing failure. The reflection phenomenon is traditionally prevented by filtering, but in this thesis, a modulationbased filterless method to mitigate the overvoltage in multilevel drives is proposed. Moreover, the mitigation method can be implemented as an extension for upper-level modulation schemes. The method exploits the oscillations caused by two consecutive voltage edges so that the sum of the oscillations results in a mitigated peak of the overvoltage. The applicability of the method is verified by simulations together with experiments with a full-scale prototype.

Modular drivers cover the entire product life cycle and when the most important modular drivers are known, it is possible to focus on the most essential areas in modularization. Modular drivers are helpful while planning modularization, selecting modules to manufacture and evaluating the success of the modularization. When the modules are formed based on the modular drivers it is also possible to develop production processes according to the requirements of a certain module. The objective of the Master’s Thesis was to organize the modular drivers based on the weightings in order to make the modularization process easier. The phases to find the most important module drivers were formed based on the existing literature and background material from the company. During the Master’s Thesis project the weights of the modular drivers were determined according to the requirements of customers, product development and manufacturing. The requirements were established by a questionnaire and the weights for the requirements were selected in an interview using the Analytic Hierarchy Process. The modular drivers were compared pairwise by the view point of the requirements of certain group. When the results of the three groups were integrated, the weights of the modular drivers were found and it was possible to select the most important drivers.

The increasing power demand and emerging applications drive the design of electrical power converters into modularization. Despite the wide use of modularized power stage structures, the control schemes that are used are often traditional, in other words, centralized. The flexibility and re-usability of these controllers are typically poor. With a dedicated distributed control scheme, the flexibility and re-usability of the system parts, building blocks, can be increased. Only a few distributed control schemes have been introduced for this purpose, but their breakthrough has not yet taken place. A demand for the further development offlexible control schemes for building-block-based applications clearly exists. The control topology, communication, synchronization, and functionality allocationaspects of building-block-based converters are studied in this doctoral thesis. A distributed control scheme that can be easily adapted to building-block-based power converter designs is developed. The example applications are a parallel and series connection of building blocks. The building block that is used in the implementations of both the applications is a commercial off-the-shelf two-level three-phase frequency converter with a custom-designed controller card. The major challenge with the parallel connection of power stages is the synchronization of the building blocks. The effect of synchronization accuracy on the system performance is studied. The functionality allocation and control scheme design are challenging in the seriesconnected multilevel converters, mainly because of the large number of modules. Various multilevel modulation schemes are analyzed with respect to the implementation, and this information is used to develop a flexible control scheme for modular multilevel inverters.
Curriculum innovation in teacher education : exploring conceptions among Tanzanian teacher educators

The focus of the study is to understand curriculum innovation from the perspective of Tanzanian teacher educators. It is argued that the deterioration of quality of education in schools is partly to be attributed to the way in which teachers are educated. Curriculum innovation is considered as an essential strategy for bringing about improvement in teacher education. Therefore, in 2000 a new curriculum was introduced; however, right from the inception the curriculum was criticised by teacher educators. The overall aim of the study is to investigate teacher educators’ conceptions of curriculum innovation. In the theoretical framework the main focus is on discussion about different curriculum approaches for teacher education and innovation. In order to achieve the aim of the study, a phenomenographic approach is employed. This approach is used in order to identify similarities and variation in educators’ conceptions of curriculum innovation. The empirical basis of the study consists of interviews with thirty teacher educators working in eight teachers’ colleges situated in various parts of Tanzania. The findings, in brief, reveal variation in teacher educators’ conceptions of the dominant domains of innovation. Two broad conceptions of teaching with six aspects are identified. Conceptions of educational studies are presented in four broad categories of description with four aspects. Similarly, in methodology subjects two conceptions are described with four aspects. On the integration of subject matter studies and subject methods, two broad conceptions are presented with six aspects. Conceptions of textbook prescription policy are characterised in two broad categories of description with four aspects. With the use of modules two broad conceptions are identified with six aspects. In addition, the study identifies four broad conceptions of future curriculum approaches with eight aspects. Looking across the categories of description, the results indicate that educators cope with innovation individually. Three character types of teacher educators are presented: loyal, creative and critical. Furthermore, four types of phenomena suggesting critical areas about teacher educators’ conceptions of innovation are described: educators’ prior educational background, technical factors, student teachers’ factors and shifting from teaching to learning. On the whole, educators express a number of frame factors in the process of change towards the aim of curriculum innovation. This indicates that the new curriculum (2000) is not implemented as intended by curriculum developers. Constraints to the implementation are presented and discussed in detail. From these findings, two models of educators’ stance towards curriculum innovation are presented and can be used as a framework for planning successful curriculum innovations and analysing practice in teachers’ colleges.

Les 21, 22 et 23 septembre 2006, le Département d’Études Françaises de l’Université de Turku (Finlande) a organisé une conférence internationale et bilingue (anglais et français) sur le thème de la mobilité académique ; le but de cette rencontre était de rendre possible la tenue d’un forum international et multidisciplinaire, susceptible d’être le siège de divers débats entre les différents acteurs de la mobilité académique (c’estàdire des étudiants, des chercheurs, des personnels enseignants et administratifs, etc.). Ainsi, ont été mis à contribution plus de cinquante intervenants, (tous issus de domaines aussi variés que la linguistique, les sciences de l’éducation, la didactique, l’anthropologie, la sociologie, la psychologie, l’histoire, la géographie, etc.) ainsi que cinq intervenants renommés1. La plupart des thèmes traités durant la conférence couvraient les champs suivants : l’organisation de la mobilité, les obstacles rencontrés par les candidats à la mobilité, l’intégration des étudiants en situation d’échange, le développement des programmes d’études, la mobilité virtuelle, l’apprentissage et l’enseignement des langues, la prise de cosncience interculturelle, le développement des compétences, la perception du système de mobilité académique et ses impacts sur la mobilité effective. L’intérêt du travail réalisé durant la conférence réside notamment dans le fait qu’il ne concentre pas uniquement des perspectives d’étudiants internationaux et en situation d’échange (comme c’est le cas de la plupart des travaux de recherche déjà menés sur ce sujet), mais aussi ceux d’autres corps : enseignants, chercheurs, etc. La contribution suivante contient un premier corpus de dixsept articles, répartis en trois sections : 1. Impacts de la mobilité étudiante ; 2. Formation en langues ; 3. Amélioration de la mobilité académique. À l’image de la conférence, la production qui suit est bilingue : huit des articles sont rédigés en français, et les neuf autres en anglais. Certains auteurs n’ont pas pu assister à la conférence mais ont tout de même souhaité apparaître dans cet ouvrage. Dans la première section de l’ouvrage, Sandrine Billaud tâche de mettre à jour les principaux obstacles à la mobilité étudiante en France (logement, organisation des universités, démarches administratives), et propose à ce sujet quelques pistes d’amélioration. Vient ensuite un article de Dominique Ulma, laquelle se penche sur la mobilité académique régnant au sein des Instituts Universitaires de Formation des Maîtres (IUFM) ; elle s’est tout particulièrement concentrée sur l’enthousiasme des stagiaires visàvis de la mobilité, et sur les bénéfices qu’apporte la mobilité Erasmus à ce type précis d’étudiant. Ensuite, dans un troisième article, Magali Hardoin s’interroge sur les potentialités éducationnelles de la mobilité des enseignantsstagiaires, et tâche de définir l’impact de celleci sur la construction de leur profil professionnel. Après cela arrive un groupe de trois articles, tous réalisés à bases d’observations faites dans l’enseignement supérieur espagnol, et qui traitent respectivement de la portée qu’a le programme de triple formation en langues européennes appliquées pour les étudiants en mobilité (Marián MorónMartín), des conséquences qu’occasionne la présence d’étudiants étrangers dans les classes de traductions (Dimitra Tsokaktsidu), et des réalités de l’intégration sur un campus espagnol d’étudiants américains en situation d’échange (Guadalupe Soriano Barabino). Le dernier article de la section, issu d’une étude sur la situation dans les institutions japonaises, fait état de la situation des programmes de doubles diplômes existant entre des établissements japonais et étrangers, et tente de voir quel est l’impact exact de tels programmes pour les institutions japonaises (Mihoko Teshigawara, Riichi Murakami and Yoneo Yano). La seconde section est elle consacrée à la relation entre apprentissage et enseignement des langues et mobilité académique. Dans un premier article, Martine Eisenbeis s’intéresse à des modules multimédia réalisés à base du film « L’auberge espagnole », de Cédric Klapish (2001), et destinés aux étudiants en mobilité désireux d’apprendre et/ou améliorer leur français par des méthodes moins classiques. Viennent ensuite les articles de Jeanine Gerbault et Sabine Ylönen, lesquels traitent d’un projet européen visant à supporter la mobilité étudiante par la création d’un programme multimédia de formation linguistique et culturelle pour les étudiants en situation de mobilité (le nom du projet est EUROMOBIL). Ensuite, un article de Pascal Schaller s’intéresse aux différents types d’activités que les étudiants en séjour à l’étranger expérimentent dans le cadre de leur formation en langue. Enfin, la section s’achève avec une contribution de Patricia KohlerBally, consacrée à un programme bilingue coordonné par l’Université de Fribourg (Suisse). La troisième et dernière section propose quelques pistes de réflexion destinées à améliorer la mobilité académique des étudiants et des enseignants ; dans ce cadre seront donc évoquées les questions de l’égalité face à la mobilité étudiante, de la préparation nécessitée par celleci, et de la prise de conscience interculturelle.
