With increasing business competitiveness, companies have sought to adapt their processes and / or products to worldwide established quality standards in order to achieve a greater share of consumers having as favorable aspect the quality assurance of the products and/or services provided. It was observed that companies of different sizes have different challenges regarding the certification however, the degree of difficulty is the same for all of them. The objective of this paper is to verify the reasons for the implementation of ISO 9001, the obstacles encountered during the implementation, the benefits arising from the use of the quality management system and the degree of difficulty to implement this standard. This work was developed based on a survey involving companies certified with ISO 9001:2008 from the productive sector of sugar, ethanol and derivatives of sugarcane, located in all Brazilian states. It was observed that companies of different sizes have different challenges regarding the certification however the degree of difficulty is the same for all of them. Thus, we believe that expected results represent a very important contribution to examining the reasons, benefits and difficulties of the ISO 9001 to both, the companies and certification bodies, and to researchers.

The construction sector is responsible for generating large environmental impacts in order to minimize these impacts, environmental standards and seals for the construction were created. This article presents a comparative study between the preliminary requirements of ISO 21931: 2010 Sustainable Building, the requirements of AQUA-HQE stamps, LEED and the Performance Standard NBR 15575: 2013. For this, a literature search was conducted to carry out a comparative analysis of the requirements of each of them in order to know those common to all of them. As a result of this work was identified that the standard of performance, the AQUA seal and LEED are well aligned with the sustainability criteria, comfort and health of the user, and has the ISO 21931 standard has some of these items as options.

The present work aimed to assess the early-age evolution of E-modulus of epoxy adhesives used for Fibre-Reinforced Polymer (FRP) strengthening applications. The study involved adapting an existing technique devised for continuous monitoring of concrete stiffness since casting, called EMM-ARM (Elasticity Modulus Measurement through Ambient Response Method) for evaluation of epoxy stiffness. Furthermore, monotonic tensile tests according to ISO standards and cyclic tensile tests were carried out at several ages. A comparison between the obtained results was performed in order to better understand the performance of the several techniques in the assessment of stiffness of epoxy resins. When compared to the other methodologies, the method for calculation of E-modulus recommended by ISO standard led to lower values, since in the considered strain interval, the adhesive had a non-linear stress–strain relationship. The EMM-ARM technique revealed its capability in clearly identifying the hardening kinetics of epoxy adhesives, measuring the material stiffness growth during the entire curing period. At very early ages the values of Young׳s modulus obtained with quasi-static tests were lower than the values collected by EMM-ARM, due to the fact that epoxy resin exhibited a significant visco-elastic behaviour.

O presente artigo baseia-se na caracterizar das propriedades fundamentais de um lote de madeira de Câmbala proveniente do Congo. Pretende-se determinar a sua massa volúmica, módulo de elasticidade e tensão de rotura à flexão. Para esse efeito, foram ensaiados 433 provetes de pequenas dimensões à flexão segundo o procedimento preconizado na norma ISO 3133[1], e quantificadas as suas massas volúmicas seguindo as prescrições da norma ISO 3131[2]. Dos resultados experimentais obtidos, constatou-se que os mesmos se situam nos intervalos previstos na bibliografia existente.

Security risk management is by definition, a subjective and complex exercise and it takes time to perform properly. Human resources are fundamental assets for any organization, and as any other asset, they have inherent vulnerabilities that need to be handled, i.e. managed and assessed. However, the nature that characterize the human behavior and the organizational environment where they develop their work turn these task extremely difficult, hard to accomplish and prone to errors. Assuming security as a cost, organizations are usually focused on the efficiency of the security mechanisms implemented that enable them to protect against external attacks, disregarding the insider risks, which are much more difficult to assess. All these demands an interdisciplinary approach in order to combine technical solutions with psychology approaches in order to understand the organizational staff and detect any changes in their behaviors and characteristics. This paper intends to discuss some methodological challenges to evaluate the insider threats and its impacts, and integrate them in a security risk framework, that was defined according to the security standard ISO/IEC_JTC1, to support the security risk management process.

O presente artigo, confrontando a educação com o desiderato da autonomização, pretende analisar as ambiguidades a que esse confronto dá hoje origem e estabelecer, mediante a explicitação de uma conceção contra-hegemónica de autonomização, as bases e as coordenadas de uma pedagogia crítica da promoção do indivíduo autónomo, que seja simultaneamente humanista, emancipadora e transformadora tanto da realidade do sujeito quanto da realidade do contexto. A estrutura narrativa, em consonância com esse amplo propósito, articula as seguintes dimensões: a educação e a normatividade da autonomização; as ambiguidades da autonomização: sentidos divergentes de fazer educação para a autonomia; e, por fim, o empowerment emancipatório e transformador: vetor da educação enquanto autonomização contra-hegemónica. A conclusão aponta as linhas diretoras da construção de uma pedagogia crítica do indivíduo autónomo, assumida nas vertentes de emancipação individual e transformação social.
