O texto de Bayle mais frequentemente citado como contendo o seu ceticismo mais radical é a nota B do artigo Pirro do Dicionário Histórico e Crítico. A filosofia cética presente nesta nota é dramaticamente apresentada por um abade católico em diálogo com outro abade. O artigo reúne considerações históricas, biográficas, bibliográficas e filosóficas que dão plausibilidade à hipótese que Pierre-Daniel Huet (1630-1721) foi o modelo histórico do personagem bayleano. Estas considerações contribuem para esclarecer a questão, bastante controversa, da natureza e escopo do ceticismo da nota B do artigo Pyrrho.

A análise de Jean-Jacques Rousseau sobre o Projeto de Paz perpetua do abade de Saint-Pierre

The numerous political theories of the modern time were committed to thesocial-political and economic restructuring of the European States, but parallel to those conceptions emerged proposals of a broader range regarding the concern with the harmony among the States and their respective external safety, that is, they envisioned an International System among the European States. In that purpose, the Project of peace by the abbé de Saint-Pierre which glimpses perpetual peace in Europe under institutionalized conditions in order to legitimate a space that aims at facilitating a unified market among the member States. In this context, the sovereign role stands out, given the fact that he is the mediator between the interests of the State and the objectives proposed by the International System of States. However, according to Jean-Jacques Rousseau’s point of view it is evident that the thought of Saint-Pierre is impregnated by a naivety regarding the sovereigns’ government policy and, moreover, for believing that, mediated by a confederal assembly, the princes would voluntarily agree to be part of this project of perpetual peace. Nevertheless, Rousseau does not consider impossible the realization of this project, however, to achieve peace it is necessary force. Therefore, the comprehension of this debate was only possible guided, mainly, by the analyses of the primary works of such thinkers and the theoretical basis of the experts that is necessary, for instance, Evaldo Becker, Gelson Fonseca Jr., Luiz Felipe de Andrade e Silva Sahd, José Oscar de Almeida Marques, José Benedito de Almeida Jr. who enabled a broad comprehension of the purpose to which we dedicated ourselves in this research, allowing the understanding of thekey concepts elaborated by the Genevan philosopher and the themes that concern the relationship between States.

Análise da importância VS satisfação na gestão do Museu do Abade de Bragança

A presente investigação onde se pretendeu analisar e posicionar os serviços oferecidos aos visitantes que se deslocam ao Museu do Abade de Baçal de Bragança, assim como a importância atribuída e qual o grau de satisfação com os mesmos, sob o ponto de vista dos visitantes. Para tal, aplicou-se a Matriz de Importância-Satisfação que permitiu delinear as estratégias a seguir para cada um dos serviços oferecidos pelo museu aos seus visitantes. Para dar continuidade ao estudo em causa procedeu-se à aplicação de um inquérito por questionário aos visitantes, resultando daí uma amostra final de 174 visitantes inquiridos. A recolha dos dados, para aplicação do estudo, foi obtida entre o período compreendido entre março a agosto de 2015. Com base nos resultados obtidos, através da aplicação da matriz Importância-Satisfação, foi possível identificar que o fator “Condições de Funcionamento do Museu” foi ao que os visitantes atribuíram uma alta importância e satisfação. O fator das “Atributos de Educação (Autorrealização e Melhoria)” apresentou baixa importância e baixa satisfação para os visitantes. Nos “Atributos Relacionados com o Entretenimento” é necessário uma ação imediata de melhoria dado que apresentou uma alta importância e uma baixa satisfação. O fator “Condições Ambientais (Internas e Externas)” posicionou-se no quadrante onde possui uma baixa importância e alta satisfação para os visitantes. É possível ainda considerar que a organização está a realizar um esforço supérfluo. Numa perspetiva geral pode dizer-se que para todos os fatores os visitantes registaram um nível de importância e de satisfação elevados. Contudo, quando avaliada a matriz que diz respeito aos itens que avaliam os fatores, anteriormente referidos, verificou-se que existem serviços que devem ser aperfeiçoados de forma a melhora-los

Clinical Outcomes and Genetic Expression Profile in Human Liver Graft Dysfunction During Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury

Introduction. This study aims to compare the molecular gene expression during ischemia reperfusion injury. Several surgical times were considered: in the beginning of the harvesting (T0), at the end of the cold ischemia period (T1), and after reperfusion (T2) and compared with graft dysfunction after liver transplant (OLT). Methods. We studied 54 patients undergoing OLT. Clinical, laboratory data, and histologic data (Suzuki classification) as well as the Survival Outcomes Following Liver Transplantation (SOFT) score were used and compared with the molecular gene expression of the following genes: Interleukin (IL)-1b, IL-6, tumor necrosis factor-a, perforin, E-selectin (SELE), Fas-ligand, granzyme B, heme oxygenase-1, and nitric oxide synthetase. Results. Fifteen patients presented with graft dysfunction according to SOFT criteria. No relevant data were obtained by comparing the variables graft dysfunction and histologic variables. We observed a statistically significant relation between SELE at T0 (P ¼ .013) and IL-1b at T0 (P ¼ .028) and early graft dysfunction. Conclusions. We conclude that several genetically determined proinflammatory expressions may play a critical role in the development of graft dysfunction after OLT.

Common mental disorders among medical students

OBJECTIVE: Common mental disorders (CMD) have a high impact on interpersonal relationships and quality of life and are potential underlying causes for the development of more serious disorders. Medical students have been indicated as a risk population for the development of CMD. The aim of this study was to determine the frequency of CMD in undergraduate medical students and to identify related factors. METHODS: A cross-sectional study was performed in a sample population of medical students. CMD was identified according to the 20-item Self-Report Questionnaire. RESULTS: Two hundred and twenty-three students completed the questionnaire. The overall prevalence of CMD was 29.6% and its presence was independently associated with sleep disorders, not owning a car, not working and sedentary lifestyle. CONCLUSIONS: These findings indicate a high prevalence of CMD in the sample studied and are important for supporting actions to prevent mental disorders in future doctors and for reflecting on the curricula currently in use in medical schools.

Immersiveness of ubiquitous computing environments prototypes: A case study

The development of ubiquitous computing (ubicomp) environments raises several challenges in terms of their evaluation. Ubicomp virtual reality prototyping tools enable users to experience the system to be developed and are of great help to face those challenges, as they support developers in assessing the consequences of a design decision in the early phases of development. Given the situated nature of ubicomp environments, a particular issue to consider is the level of realism provided by the prototypes. This work presents a case study where two ubicomp prototypes, featuring different levels of immersion (desktop-based versus CAVE-based), were developed and compared. The goal was to determine the cost/benefits relation of both solutions, which provided better user experience results, and whether or not simpler solutions provide the same user experience results as more elaborate one.
