Arquivos da Imigração no contexto da hospedaria de imigrantes de São Paulo

Desde sua inauguração em 1888 até 1978, a Hospedaria de Imigrantes de São Paulo atuou na recepção, triagem e encaminhamento de aproximadamente 3,5 milhões de trabalhadores (imigrantes e migrantes internos) para diversos setores da agricultura paulista. Parte significativa da documentação produzida ou depositada nessa Instituição é composta por suportes como: livros de registro, fichas de identificação e listas de bordo. Sobre esses incidem interesses diversos. Por um lado, são fontes que revelam informações importantes sobre a memória (coletiva) da imigração para São Paulo ao passo que, por outro, expõem informações pessoais que podem ser consideradas de foro privado ou pertinentes a outro sentido da memória.

O Brasil “civilizado” e o Japão “bizarro” na revista Kosmos: imagens contrastantes

Este artigo discute as relações entre idéias de progresso da capital federal brasileira no começo do século XX e a imagem bizarra do Japão e dos japoneses veiculadas dentro de um dos periódicos brasileiros mais requintados da época: a revista Kosmos. Em contraposição aos artigos de louvor às melhorias urbanas promovidas pelo governo carioca; as crônicas de viagem de países “exóticos” como o Extremo Oriente tiveram um papel fundamental na promoção da auto-estima da elite brasileira que se pretendia civilizada, moderna e branca.

O texto apresenta, no que concerne ao fenômeno imigratório, o enigma da invisibilidade relativa na sociedade brasileira do grande número de espanhóis, concentrados no Estado de São Paulo durante, sobretudo, a Primeira República A análise restringe-se às obras da literatura brasileira que assinalaram a presença de personagens espanholas.

Do clientelismo coronelista ao clientelismo de Estado: a ascensão de imigrantes na política do interior paulista

O artigo procura analisar a relação que há entre padrões de mobilidade social e o processo de entrada de imigrantes e de seus descendentes de primeira geração na atividade política institucional na região conhecida como o oeste paulista. Tal processo pode se constituir num indicador das relações de resistência ou de aproximação entre os imigrantes e as elites locais tradicionais, além de ser elemento chave para se compreender o processo de superação do sistema coronelista no estado de São Paulo, a ascensão de uma nova fração burguesa e o advento do populismo.

Ensino a distância: um estudo de caso utilizando ferramentas modernas no ensino de técnicas estatísticas

In recent years it was possible to see a considerable growth of distance education, while the classroom teaching had a more modest growth. Thus, maintained this scenario, it will not take long for the quantitative indicators of distance education outweigh the classroom education. The distance education is evolving rapidly and changing traditional methods of acquiring knowledge and reduce inequalities caused by isolation and distance from large urban centers. This work aims to develop a videolesson and analyze its application in the teaching of statistics to a class of students of FEG, using modern techniques of distance education. To that end, was record a videolesson and developed two assessment tools, one practical and the other qualitative. The results showed that students prefer to follow the resolution of examples, with high degree of difficulty, and the audio recording is a key to the proper understanding of the same. In addition, students consider important mainstay of distance education, the fact that you can attend a class several times, whenever you need it, anywhere

O vazio da união das culturas nipo-brasileira: projeto no bairro da Liberdade-SP

The work aims at an architectural project in the neighborhood of Liberdade in Sao Paulo, from analysis of the spread of Japanese culture in Brazil. Within this theme, the paper focuses on the Japanese urban space and the search for an identity of the Japanese, besides the problems that the neighborhood has. The architectural design is justified by the need for spaces of rest, meetings and green areas, where people can get away a bit of pace that the neighborhood has. The source of this research is based on bibliographic references, reviews of other projects, investigating the experience of urban space and the richest source of contributions that were the memories of living in Japan for eight months. The expected result is the visualization of the project through sketches, experiments and artistic designs for the chosen location

This paper analyzes the new trends of Brazilian migration to Japan, more specifically in the process of redefining its territoriality on the political and administrative Japanese territory. This migration, known as Dekassegui movement, is based on the flow of Brazilians of Japanese descent in this country. Mudança de fronteiras étnicas e participação política de descendentes de imigrantes em São Paulo

This paper analyzes patterns of political mobility of a specific social stratum - immigrants and their descendants - in the western region of São Paulo, where coffee economy prevailed since the last quarter of the XIXth century. We investigate the main agents of local politics in seven cities: from the traditional oligarchic regime characteristic of the Old Republic to the processes of political transformation in the thirties that resulted in the post-war re-democratization, when a recomposition of local political elites takes place.
