Measuring the quality of a b-learning environment is critical to determine the success of a b-learning course. There are a lot of materials related to the quality process, namely different approaches and perspectives but none of them is specific of the product of a b-learning context. In this paper we identify the indicators that should be analyzed in order to determine the quality of a b-learning course, since its success reflect not only the students perception, but also what should be taken into account. B-Learning environments are relatively new and combine educational characteristics with technological elements that support the learning process and the training delivery. Our main objective is to know what a high quality b-learning environment is in students perception and what are the main quality dimensions of these courses, in the perspective of the products and services offered. After a literature review concerning the quality process and in particular the b-learning quality field, a structure that provides the main elements that should be evaluated by students when we are measuring the quality and the success of b-learning product/services was created. The structure obtained was applied to a case study of the Polytechnic Institute of Oporto. Results presented will help institutions to deliver services with more quality and improve their long-term competitiveness.

MOOC (as an acronym for Massive Open Online Courses) are a quite new model for the delivery of online learning to students. As Massive and Online, these courses are proposed to be accessible to many more learners than would be possible through conventional teaching. As Open they are (frequently) free of charge and participation is not limited by the geographical situation of the learners, creating new learning opportunities in Higher Education Institutions (HEI). In this paper we describe a recently started project Matemtica 100 STRESS (Math Without STRESS) integrated in the e-IPP project | e-Learning Unit of Portos Polytechnic Institute (IPP) which has created its own MOOC platform and launched its first course Probabilities and Combinatorics in early June/2014. In this MOOC development were involved several lecturers from four of the seven IPP schools.

The Online Mathematics Education Project (MatActiva) is an exciting new initiative which aims to support and enhance mathematics education. The project is led by the Institute of Accounting and Administration of Porto (ISCAP), part of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto (IPP). It provides innovative resources and carefully constructed materials around themes such as Elementary Mathematics, Calculus, Algebra, Statistics and Financial Mathematics to help support and inspire students and teachers of mathematics. The goal is to increase mathematical understanding, confidence and enjoyment, enrich the mathematical experience of each person, and promote creative and imaginative approaches to mathematics. Furthermore the project can be used to deliver engaging and effective mathematics instruction through the flipped classroom model. This paper also presents the findings of a large survey, whose propose was to study the students reaction to the project.

Os sistemas de apoio deciso clinica tm-se revelado essenciais no dia-a-dia da populao, nomeadamente dos profissionais e dos pacientes. Estes sistemas podem ser aplicados com diferentes objetivos: como sistemas de alerta; de preveno de doenas; sistemas para dosagem de medicao e prescrio; entre outras. Atualmente notrio o aumento de interesse por parte da populao em entender e em possuir um papel ativo nas decises mdicas. Para conseguirem faz-lo necessitam de procurar informao. O meio mais utilizado para obter essa informao a internet, onde a informao se encontra em grande quantidade e muito dispersa. Para alm da quantidade imprescindvel encontrar informao credvel, para que no haja induo da pessoa em erro. Para ajudar a solucionar estes problemas surgiram os sistemas de recomendao na sade. Estes sistemas foram idealizados para fornecer informaes s quais os utilizadores podem recorrer para tomar decises conscientes e seguras sobre a sua sade. Tambm os sistemas de alerta se tm revelado importantes na rea da sade. Estes sistemas podem ser usados em diferentes contextos e sobre diferentes assuntos, como por exemplo, a alterao do estado clnico de um paciente monitorizado, em tempo real, ou em interaes medicamentosas. As interaes medicamentosas podem advir da automedicao do utente ou da larga quantidade de medicao que, a partir de determinada idade, os utentes ingerem. Pode ter como causa medicao que administrem regularmente, ou at mesmo diariamente, ou doenas/estados que o utente possua que, em simultneo com determinada medicao pode causar reaes adversas. Neste trabalho foi desenvolvido um prottipo de uma farmcia online (FoAM) que fornece, ao utilizador, alertas quando h possibilidade de interaes. As causas de interaes consideradas foram os medicamentos que o utilizador consuma e/ou doenas/estados que possua. O objetivo alertar para o caso das causas que o utilizador possui interagirem com o(s) medicamento(s) que este deseja adquirir. Para alcanar esse objetivo foi necessrio selecionar os medicamentos a disponibilizar assim como as suas interaes. Essa seleo foi baseada no pronturio teraputico 2013 disponibilizado pelo INFARMED. Depois de recolhida e analisada a informao, foi possvel compreender que informaes clnicas o sistema necessita para que consiga identificar os medicamentos que no so aconselhveis adquirir. Para isso, necessrio que o utilizador fornea essas informaes clnicas pessoais, necessidade que vai de encontro posio defendida por diversos autores que apontam o uso de registos eletrnicos de sade muito benfico para conseguir alertas mais personalizados suprindo assim as necessidades do utilizador. tambm preponderante que o utilizador perceba o porqu de determinado medicamento no ser aconselhvel, por isso, ao ser emitido o alerta tambm apresentada a justificao do mesmo, ou seja, disponibilizado ao utilizador qual a causa que indicou no formulrio responsvel pela interao.
