Este trabajo se propone describir el modo en el que la Coordinación de los Cursos Especiales del Area de Inglés de la Escuela de Lenguas de la Universidad Nacional de La Plata hace uso de diversas herramientas digitales, tanto para el trabajo administrativo como para la enseñanza en los distintos cursos que la componen. En todos los casos, se expondrán los motivos pedagógicos que guiaron la selección de estos recursos y los fines para los que son empleados. Se hará referencia a las razones por las cuales la incorporación de estas herramientas permite simplificar el trabajo del personal de esta sección y, también, a las iniciativas relacionadas con su empleo en la enseñanza que ya se han puesto en práctica en los cursos de exámenes internacionales y en los Talleres de inglés para adultos mayores. Por último, se analizarán los resultados obtenidos en cada caso, pasando revista a las ventajas y los inconvenientes encontrados durante su implementación

La calidad educativa de las universidades no solo se mide por la formación y número de egresados. También es relevante el número de estudiantes que abandonan sus estudios. En los últimos tiempos ha surgido una creciente preocupación institucional por analizar y combatir el abandono en el nivel de Educación Superior. Se presenta un estudio que se encuadra en el esfuerzo que está realizando la Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) para la mejora del perfil profesional docente de sus profesores con el objeto de reducir el absentismo y abandono de los estudiantes. En el marco del proyecto transversal ?El índice de permanencia, como criterio de calidad y propuestas para rebajar las tasas de abandono en las Titulaciones de Grado de la UPM? y como continuación de estudios anteriores que concluyeron con la formulación de un decálogo de buenas prácticas docentes, se ofrece un instrumento de auto-evaluación que permite al profesorado conocer su situación respecto del mismo. Hasta la fecha ha sido frecuente abordar el estudio del absentismo desde la perspectiva del estudiante a partir de entrevistas en profundidad o cuestionarios. De ahí que la aportación de este trabajo es que se centra en la figura del profesor, como forma de afrontar la mejora de las tasas de absentismo. La escala recoge diversas dimensiones, a modo de rúbrica, en la que cada profesor ha de indicar cuál refleja mejor su actuación y práctica docente. En concreto, se valoran tres aspectos: 1) actitud personal ante la docencia, que incluye preocupación por su actualización psicopedagógica; 2) metodología didáctica, analizando, entre otros, el desarrollo de la clase, material utilizado, evaluación y realimentación; y, 3) relación con los estudiantes, tanto desde el punto de vista de la empatía como de su acción tutorial. Los resultados ofrecen un informe que promoverá la reflexión acerca de su práctica educativa, ofreciendo orientaciones para su mejora. Aplicado a una muestra incidental del profesorado de la UPM, se presentan los resultados descriptivos obtenidos. Su análisis permitirá realizar una radiografía actualizada de la realidad docente de nuestro profesorado frente a la definida a partir del decálogo. Disponer de una herramienta de esta naturaleza, de carácter voluntario y personal, de fácil acceso, aplicación, sostenible y directa, promoverá en el profesorado que así lo desee una actitud de constante reflexión y mejora de los aspectos que el informe señala.

The purpose of this study was to examine the beliefs that teachers have about diversity and their level of sensitivity towards some topics related to it. Moreover, beliefs were compared according to teachers’ personal and professional views and teaching experience. The Personal and Professional Beliefs about Diversity Scales (Pohan and Aguilar, 1999) were administered to a sample of 233 teachers. Results showed highly positive beliefs towards diversity in all its dimensions (cultural, linguistic and social diversity, ability, gender, sexual orientation and religion), especially regarding its personal implications compared to the professional ones. Likewise, it was observed a significant relationship between years of teaching experience and professional beliefs about diversity, so teachers with no school experience showed a higher tolerance than those with teaching experience, mainly in aspects related to cultural, linguistic and social differences, ability and gender. The implications that these results have for educational practice and the need for the development of multicultural education courses that favour an effective teaching are discussed.

Contribuir a la mejora de la calidad de la enseñanza y de los resultados de aprendizaje constituye uno de los retos en el sistema universitario actual que exige un gran esfuerzo de coordinación en las acciones de investigación e innovación a desarrollar. Para alcanzar este propósito, desde el grupo de investigación EDUTIC-ADEI (VIGROB-039) de la Universidad de Alicante se ha promovido la constitución de una red docente interdepartamental e interuniversitaria que pretende investigar sobre cómo debe ser la enseñanza online que se desarrolla en el ámbito universitario. Para ello, se ha abordado el concepto de ambiente de aprendizaje en este contexto virtual con el fin de delimitar los parámetros que deben definir una enseñanza de calidad cuando hablamos de e-learning, Masive Open Online Courses [MOOCs], Personal Learning Environment [PLE], etc. La investigación, pues, ahonda en los aspectos curriculares que conforman dichos ambientes de aprendizaje online con el fin de delimitar los parámetros de una enseñanza virtual de calidad.

This paper focalizes the initial teacher socialization in the Infantile Education from the acknowledgement about that as a phase of a professional life cycle on distinguish of other steps in the teachers’ carrier. It is based on the studies of sociological and anthropological mark with the comprehension that the professional reality is equally constructed by daily practices of social interactions in the work environment. It aims understanding how the initial process of professional culture building of beginners in the infantile education occurs under a view toward to the organizational and dynamics aspects of the teacher activity (events, interactions, practices, wisdoms, tensions and dilemmas). This investigation assuming the orientations of an ethnographic type approach has been developed in a Municipal Center of Infantile Education (Centro Municipal de Educação Infantil) in the city of Natal, with daycare and pre-school. The participant subjects are four female teachers with less than five years in Infantile Education career. It has used a participant observation and a semi-structured interview in the data building that had interpreted through a content analysis and sources triangulation. It delineates three dimensions to the professional culture scenarios: the personal and formative profile of the subjects, the school daily and the teacher work management. The multiform character of the finds evidences that the professional culture of the novice teachers has been constituted from the confrontation with different situations of unpredictably in their emotions, routines and pedagogical and administrative difficulties, simultaneously to the dilemmas of child care and educate. The solitude feeling has been generating from the institutional and scholar organization, which offers no material and pedagogical conditions to the peers collaboration and discussion. Finally it means that teaching in the Infantile Education must been based on an expanding network relations, been indispensable to the beginners the support and orientation related to doubts, wistfulness and expectations as means of socializing and redefining their teaching practice

This study was guided by the following question: Is it possible to prepare good teachers for Basic School in Distance Learning (DL) online? The over all objective of this study was to identify and systematize the essential knowledge and skills for the practice of teaching in basic education as well to investigate whe ther the Distance Learning courses which train and prepare future teachers include all the knowledge and skills necessary for teaching practice. This is a qualitative the oretical and bibliographic research that aims to analyze the current stageof the knowledge on this theme. We selected recent papers on this subject, in order to study what has been written by the authors as well to know which are their significant findings. Data were collected from dissertations, thesis and books published on the theme. Preliminarily, the theme of the presentation and contextualization has been made and the argument about the relevance of the study for education. In the second section, we present an overview of the Distance Education in Brazil: coargumentncepts, characteristics, emergence, evolution and regulation. The third section the working environmentin training teachers and students in on line education, targeting to be familiar to Learning Virtual Environments (LVE), analyzing how these new learning spaces are settled and how students and teachers be have in front of the new settings of teaching and learning using Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). In the fourth section aimed to identify which are the essential knowledges and skills that the teacher must master in order to work competently as well to discover which are the personal and professional characteristics of a good teacher in the XXI century. The fifth section studied and analyzed the current situation with in Distance Education is carried out in Brazil. We identified the most significant contributions of Distance Learning to Brazilian Education System in order to contribute to advances in the debate on the effectiveness of teacher training courses in distance education mode online.Finally in the sixth section were made final remarks and presented the study results.

Students reflect more on their learning in course subjects when they participate in managing their teaching–learning environment. As a form of guided participation, peer assessment serves the following purposes: (a) it improves the student’s understanding of previously established learning objectives; (b) it is a powerful metacognitive tool; (c) it transfers to the student part of the responsibility for assessing learning, which means deciding which learning activities are important and choosing the degree of effort a course subject will require; (d) it emphasizes the collective aspect of the nature of knowledge; and (e) the educational benefits derived from peer assessment clearly justify the efforts required to implement activities. This paper reports on the relative merits of a learning portfolio compiled during fine arts-related studies in which peer assessment played an important role. The researchers analyzed the student work load and the final marks students received for compulsory art subjects. They conclude that the use of a closed learning portfolio with a well-structured, sequential and analytical design can have a positive effect on student learning and that, although implementing peer assessment may be complex and students need to become familiar with it, its use is not only feasible but recommendable.

Este artículo muestra los principales resultados de una amplia investigación sobre los salarios de los profesionales en bibliotecología, motivo de preocupación de las autoridades de la Escuela de Bibliotecología, Documentación e Información de la Universidad Nacional desde el proceso de autoevaluación, realizado previo a la acreditación de la carrera de Bibliotecología y Documentación por parte del Sistema Nacional de Acreditación de la Educación Superior (SINAES).En esta investigación se ha demostrado la inequidad salarial que afecta al docente de la Universidad Nacional, con respecto a los salarios de los profesores de otras escuelas de bibliotecología y, también, al personal que ocupa puestos administrativos tanto en la misma Universidad Nacional como en el sector público. Los bajos salarios de los profesores y la falta de incentivos económicos en una función fundamental para una institución de enseñanza superior, no solo es motivo de disconformidad por el personal, máximo la elevada carga laboral a que es sometido en una escuela acreditada, sino que impide la contratación de profesores altamente calificados.
