El propósito y afán de los autores de esta investigación, al incursionar en el tema ha sido el de indagar sobre el rol protagónico las FF.AA. en el Estado y la sociedad, para de allí partir a la búsqueda de respuestas a la interrogante de: cuáles son las razones para la existencia de la actividad empresarial del Ejército y cómo el proceso de modernización actual, incide en las empresas del Ejército. Conforme los propósitos del Area de Derecho Económico de la Universidad Andina "Simón Bolívar", nos hemos planteado la necesidad de encarar desde la óptica del método sociológico, el estudio multidisciplinario de la realidad jurídica concreta de las unidades productivas de la Fuerza Terrestre. Al efecto de lo anterior, la tesis se ha dividido en tres partes, en las que se ha inyectado la visión de la Geopolítica, Seguridad Nacional y el desarrollo, opción sugerida por el tutor de la tesis, Dr. Paco Moncayo Gallegos. En la primera parte del trabajo, se estudia al Estado, su evolución, funciones y cómo afecta a su estructura la política económica aperturista. En este marco se analizan los conceptos de seguridad, defensa, así como las experiencias empresariales del Ejército en Latinoamérica, llegando hasta el análisis de las FF. AA. en el Ecuador y la evolución reciente de las empresas de sus tres ramas: terrestre, naval y aérea. En la segunda parte se analiza las empresas del Ejército en cuanto a su pertenencia al sector público, tomando como referente a los estudios sobre la actividad empresarial del Estado ecuatoriano, efectuados por la SENDA. Ubicada DINE como parte de las empresas públicas, a continuación se pasa a revisar su base legal de creación, sus objetivos, organización, para arribar a un análisis somero de las empresas o dependencias industriales propias y las empresas en que DINE tiene participación accionaria en forma mayoritaria y minoritaria. Finalizando esta parte con la exposición que existen respecto a la privatización de las empresas de DINE. En la tercera parte se busca delinear un modelo estratégico para el desarrollo de las empresas del Ejército, desde el punto de vista jurídico y administrativo. En el I capítulo se revisan diagramas referentes a la planificación nacional y la inserción de DINE en ella. Luego se analiza el marco jurídico para el desarrollo de DINE, comenzando por la estructura jurídica de la agrupación de empresas, las formas de asociación de empresas, los problemas jurídicos de la unión de empresas, para llegar a la estructura de la compañía Holding. En los tres últimos capítulos de la tercera parte se desarrolla la gestión tecnológica como herramienta de la modernización de las empresas del Ejército, así como los vínculos de cooperación entre la ESPE y DINE, para propiciar el desarrollo de la investigación tecnológica y, finalmente se analiza un modelo de desarrollo estratégico de la empresa FAME. El último capítulo contiene conclusiones y recomendaciones, relacionados al papel de las FF.AA., y los resultados que genera DINE en cuanto a beneficios y aporte a la economía nacional.

Este artículo presenta la situación actual del narcotráfico en México y lo que ha sido la lucha antidrogas adelantada en coordinación con Estados Unidos, así como el papel de los militares mexicanos en la misma. Este trabajo es parte de un proyecto de investigación que desarrollé hace algunos meses, y cuya hipótesis central hacía referencia a la necesaria diferenciación que tendría que existir entre la política antidrogas desarrollada por Estados Unidos en México y la adelantada en otros países –los Andes–, diferenciación que surgiría a partir de la cercanía territorial entre México y Estados Unidos y el consecuente riesgo de desbordamiento de la violencia de Sur a Norte.

Realiza un recuento de los intentos de criminalización de la protesta social en el país, para lo cual se abordan las actuaciones de los últimos Gobiernos desde el retorno a la democracia y las acciones del actual régimen en torno a este tema, que recurren a la Ley de Seguridad Nacional ante las luchas sociales y procesos de resistencia. Analiza los casos y situaciones más relevantes y los efectos de la vigencia de la Ley de Seguridad Pública y del Estado. Evidencia el viraje hacia la derecha del actual gobierno y su no apertura al diálogo con los movimientos sociales.

In this article, we present a generalization of the Bayesian methodology introduced by Cepeda and Gamerman (2001) for modeling variance heterogeneity in normal regression models where we have orthogonality between mean and variance parameters to the general case considering both linear and highly nonlinear regression models. Under the Bayesian paradigm, we use MCMC methods to simulate samples for the joint posterior distribution. We illustrate this algorithm considering a simulated data set and also considering a real data set related to school attendance rate for children in Colombia. Finally, we present some extensions of the proposed MCMC algorithm.

The electrical properties of conducting polymers make them useful materials in a wide number of technological applications. In the last decade, an important effect on the properties of the conducting polymer when iron oxides particles are incorporated into the conductive matrix was shown. In the present study, films of polypyrrole were synthesized in the presence of magnetite particles. The effect of the magnetite particles on the structure of the polymer matrix was determined using Raman spectroscopy. Mass variations at different concentrations of Fe(3)O(4) incorporated into the conducting matrix were also measured by means of quartz crystal microbalance. Additionally, the changes in the resistance of the films were evaluated over time by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy in solid state. These results show that the magnetite incorporation decreases polymeric film resistance and Raman experiments have evidenced that the incorporation of magnetite into polymeric matrix not only stabilizes the polaronic form of the polypyrrole, but also preserves the polymer from further oxidation. Syftet var att beskriva anhörigvårdarens erfarenheter av palliativ vård av sin närstående i hemmet. Studien genomfördes som en litteraturstudie. I studien ingick 10 vetenskapliga artiklar från åren 2002-2008. Samtliga var av kvalitativ ansats. Resultatet i studien delades upp i fyra teman: erfarenheter av kommunikation, hantera den nya situationen, känsla av otillräcklighet och meningsfullhet trots allt. Resultatet belyste bland annat att information om patientens hälsotillstånd var viktigt för att anhörigvårdarna skulle känna sig bättre mentalt förberedda. Anhörigvårdare som upplevde brist på information och kommunikation tappade förtroende till sjukvården. Erfarenheter av existentiella frågor och samtal visade sig vara viktiga för att känna hopp och meningsfullhet. De som upplevde att de fick vara en del av det palliativa teamet kände sig delaktiga i vården i motsats till de som kände sig som en utomstående vilka kände sig förolämpade. Anhörigvårdarnas deltagande i vården gav dem möjlighet att leva ett mer naturligt familjeliv Det var viktigt att kunna behålla en vardag. För att klara av att vara anhörigvårdare behövde de få avlastning. När situationen blev ohanterbar kände de dåligt samvete och skuld över att inte levt upp till kraven. De upplevde frustration och en känsla av otillräcklighet. De erfarenheter som anhörigvårdarna hade av palliativ vård i hemmet var att stödet de fick från vårdpersonalen var avgörande för hur de skulle hantera situationen. En tillfredställande kommunikation innebar att vårdpersonalen var lyhörd för den enskilde anhörigvårdarens behov och att de såg patienten och anhörigvårdaren som en enhet.

Os objetivos desse texto são bastante singelos. Ele deseja ressaltar a possibilidade e importância da utilização das moedas e cédulas do sistema monetário como objetos de estudo – como documentos – da história da República no Brasil. Além disso, quer apontar alguns caminhos de análise das representações que elas evocam enquanto elementos fundamentais de um processo de construção de identidade nacional. Finalmente, procura enfatizar como tal abordagem e uso da moeda brasileira podem ser contemplados no ensino de história nas escolas, que se utilizariam de uma fonte que, literalmente, está na mão dos estudantes. O sentido desta reflexão é apenas o de chamar a atenção de pesquisadores e professores de história para algumas questões que costumam passar despercebidas e, com tal atitude, suscitar algum debate.

Over the last decades, the digital inclusion public policies have significantly invested in the purchase of hardwares and softwares in order to offer technology to the Brazilian public teaching institutions, specifically computers and broadband Internet. However, the teachers education to handle these artefacts is put away, even though there is some demand from the information society. With that, this dissertation chooses as an object of study the digital literacy practices performed by 38 (thirty-eight) teachers in initial and continuous education by means of the extension course Literacies and technologies: portuguese language teaching and cyberculture demands. In this direction, we aim at investigating the digital literacy practices of developing teachers in three specific moments: before, while and after this extension action with the intent to (i) delineate the digital literacy practices performed by the collaborators before the formative action; (ii) to narrate the literacy events made possible by the extension course; (iii) to investigate the contributions of the education course to the collaborators teaching practice. We sought theoretical contributions in the literacy studies (BAYNHAM, 1995; KLEIMAN, 1995; HAMILTON; BARTON; IVANIC, 2000), specifically when it comes to digital literacy (COPE, KALANTZIS, 2000; BUZATO, 2001, 2007, 2009; SNYDER, 2002, 2008; LANKSHEAR & KNOBEL, 2002, 2008) and teacher education (PERRENOUD, 2000; SILVA, 2001). Methodologically, this virtual ethnography study (KOZINETS, 1997; HINE, 2000) is inserted into the field of Applied Linguistics and adopts a quali-quantitative research approach (NUNAN, 1992; DÖRNYEI, 2006). The data analysis permitted to evidentiate that (i) before the course, the digital literacy practices focused on the personal and academic dimensions of their realities at the expense of the professional dimension; (ii) during the extension action, the teachers collaboratively took part in the hybrid study sessions, which had a pedagogical focus on the use of ICTs, accomplishing the use of digital literacy practices - unknown before that; (iii) after the course, the attitude of the collaborator teachers concerning the use of ICTs on their regular professional basis had changed, once those teachers started to effectively make use of them, promoting social visibility to what was produced in the school. We also observed that teachers in initial education acted as more experienced peers in collaborative learning process, offering support scaffolding (VYGOTSKY, 1978; BRUNER, 1985) to teachers in continuous education. This occurred because of the undergraduates actualize digital literacy practices were more sophisticated, besides the fact being integrate generation Y (PRENSKY, 2001)

In this thesis we propose to investigate the contribution that the Universitary Television from Rio Grande do Norte state, Brazil (TVU RN), offers to democratization of information and diffusion of the scientific knowledge produced by the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) from the perception of their own students. We adopt the basic assumption in wich the TVU RN needs to be connected with the scope of the current UFRN policy, since plays an important role regarding democratization and social inclusion policies in UFRN. We support the thesis that TVU UFRN offers important information for those who are part of academic culture (COULON, 1995a; 1995b, CHARLOT, 2000; BOURDIEU, 2007, 2005, 1997, 1996, 1975), as well as for society in wich it is inserted, since it contributes to the dissemination of scientific knowledge and relevant information about the university. We consider TVU RN a Public Sphere (HABERMAS, 2002; 2003a, 2003b; 2003c; 1999; 1989) conducive to discussion of issues involving higher education. Researches on Universitary Television are recent and some studies on it advanced in the way to define it and present it as a means of dissemination of scientific knowledge (ROCHA, 2006; COUTINHO, 2006; CALLIGARO, 2007; AIRES, 1999; PORCELLO, 2002; PRIOLLI, 2003, 2008, 2009; MAGALHÃES, 2002, 2008; RAMALHO, 2008; 2010; CARVALHO, 2006). For our investigation we chose the combination of quantitative and qualitative methods, both equally valid and accepted by many authors (FLICK, 2009; BAUER; GASKELL, 2002; RICHARDSON, 1999; LAVILLE; DIONNE, 1999). We developed a questionnaire initially with objective questions ending up with open questions of free text. The questionnaire was developed and hosted from a tool of Google Docs and the link to the webpage containing those questionnaires was sent by e-mail by the Permanent Commission of Vestibular of UFRN, COMPERVE, for all university students who were with their registration (status) active in the COMPERVE registers of the second half of 2010. The analysis of this material was performed using the techniques of content analysis and, within this mode was chosen thematic analysis considered appropriate for both qualitative and quantitative research (BARDIN, 2004; MINAYO, 2002). The investigation found that although most students consider that the TVU RN contributes to the democratization of information and dissemination of scientific knowledge produced in university, and moreover to arouse the interest of the academic community, still has not yet become an object of interest of the entire academy. Therefore, the research highlights the relevance and abrangency of further studies on the TVU RN due to the strategic role it plays in this new reality of public universities in the country. In addition, we suggest to the UFRN managers that they put TVU within the hall of discussions in order to receive the so much needed investment for any university organ
