This work consists of a discussion, analysis and reading of Borges’stories, in that the problem of interest pronounces to the language, to the speech and the deed, sending them so much to the Literature with relationship to the Philosophy, so much to the statute of the ficcional, with relationship to the of the ontologic. In that optics, it intends to show the Borges deed as warp of the death, of the allegorical and of the metaphorical, in the sense of bringing for the ficcional lines different from the Real, elaborating the speech for besides the statement, reaching the interstic, the silence, the interruptions and the suspension of the representation. In that discursive elaboration, a crossing is pointed in the letter, affected for unspeakable sensations, crossing the processes of memory, imaginary and real, in which the time counting makes to emerge the difference and the repetition. In these if constituting territorial negotioting that they lead the characters to imaginary spaces as possibilities of the real, allowing them executes mobility for desterritory it self and reterritory itself, according to the change forces that show in your threshing. Purpose: Recent studies have documented a link between axial myopia and ciliary muscle morphology; yet, the variation in biometric characteristics of the emmetropic ciliary muscle are not fully known. Ciliary muscle morphology, including symmetry, was investigated between both eyes of emmetropic participants and correlated to ocular biometric parameters. Methods: Anterior segment optical coherence tomography (Zeiss, Visante) was utilised to image both eyes of 49 emmetropic participants (mean spherical equivalent refractive error (MSE) ≥ -0.55; < +0.75 D), aged 19 to 26 years. High resolution images were obtained of nasal and temporal aspects of the ciliary muscle in the relaxed state. MSE of both eyes was recorded using the Grand Seiko WAM 5500; axial length (AXL), anterior chamber depth (ACD) and lens thickness (LT) of the right eye were obtained using the Haag-streit Lenstar LS 900 biometer. A bespoke semi-objective analysis programme was used to measure a range of ciliary muscle parameters. Results: Temporal ciliary muscle overall length (CML) was greater than nasal CML, in both eyes (right: 3.58 ± 0.40 mm and 3.85 ± 0.39 mm for nasal and temporal aspects, respectively, P < 0.001; left: 3.65 ± 0.35 mm and 3.88 ± 0.41 mm for nasal and temporal aspects, respectively, P < 0.001). Temporal ciliary muscle thickness (CMT) was greater than nasal CMT at 2 mm and 3 mm from the scleral spur (CM2 and CM3, respectively) in each eye (right CM2: 0.29 ± 0.05 mm and 0.32 ± 0.05 mm for nasal and temporal aspects, respectively, P < 0.001; left CM2: 0.30 ± 0.05 mm and 0.32 ± 0.05 mm for nasal and temporal aspects, respectively, P < 0.001; right CM3: 0.13 ± 0.05 mm and 0.16 ± 0.04 mm for nasal and temporal aspects, respectively, P < 0.001; left CM3: 0.14 ± 0.04 mm and 0.17 ± 0.05 mm for nasal and temporal aspects, respectively, P < 0.001). AXL was positively correlated with ciliary muscle anterior length (AL) (e.g. P < 0.001, r2 = 0.262 for left temporal aspect), CML (P = 0.003, r2 = 0.175 for right nasal aspect) and ACD (P = 0.01, r2 = 0.181). Conclusions: Morphological characteristics of the ciliary muscle in emmetropic eyes display high levels of symmetry between the eyes. Greater CML and AL are linked to greater AXL and ACD, indicating ciliary muscle growth with normal ocular development.

This article considers the opportunities of civilians to peacefully resist violent conflicts or civil wars. The argument developed here is based on a field-based research on the peace community San José de Apartadó in Colombia. The analytical and theoretical framework, which delimits the use of the term ‘resistance’ in this article, builds on the conceptual considerations of Hollander and Einwohner (2004) and on the theoretical concept of ‘rightful resistance’ developed by O’Brien (1996). Beginning with a conflict-analytical classification of the case study, we will describe the long-term socio-historical processes and the organizational experiences of the civilian population, which favoured the emergence of this resistance initiative. The analytical approach to the dimensions and aims of the resistance of this peace community leads to the differentiation of O`Brian’s concept of ‘rightful resistance’.

La traducción ha atraído a profesionales, escritores y aficionados desde tiempos remotos. Desde el primer momento se encendieron los debates sobre la técnica de la traducción, desde Cicerón y Horacio, en los tiempos de Bayt al-hikma y San Jerónimo, hasta el siglo XX, los trabajos de L. Venuti, las teorías filosóficas o la traducción audiovisual. En este artículo intentaremos acercarnos a un asunto tan interesante como la relación entre el texto original y su traducción. Como modelos para este estudio tomaremos los ejemplos de las traducciones llevadas a cabo por V. Nabokov y M. Tsvetaeva. Analizaremos la evolución de la doctrina de traducción de V. Nabokov y las causas que influyeron en la decisión de M. Tsvetaeva de domesticar un texto original.masculino.

El periplo de Hannón, frente a las propuestas que lo interpretan como una obra literaria, creemos que recoge un periplo auténtico, que sólo alcanzó cabo Juby y algunas de las Islas Canarias. Las refundaciones cartaginesas fueron todas en la Mauretania fértil, en los 7 primeros días de la expedición. Desde el islote de Kérne, en la expedición primó una primera exploración de evaluación, indicativo de que se trataba de apenas 2 o 3 barcos, con una tripulación limitada, que evitaban enfrentamientos con la población local. Los intérpretes Lixítai parecen conocer todos los puntos explorados, el río Chrétes, los etíopes del Alto Atlas costero, el gran golfo caluroso que finalizaba en el Hespérou Kéras, el volcán Theôn Óchema, o las gentes salvajes que denominaban Goríllai. Probablemente la mayor sorpresa fuese encontrar un volcán activo, emitiendo lava, que pudo ser la razón última para redactar este periplo. La falta de agua, alimentos y caza como razón para finalizar la expedición exploratoria sólo es comprensible en un trayecto corto que alcanzó hasta el inicio del desierto del Sahara. Otro tanto sucede con la ausencia de ríos importantes al Sur del río Chrétes, una clara prueba de que no se alcanzaron latitudes ecuatoriales y que los barcos se fueron alejando de la costa norteafricana.

This paper focuses on two basic issues: the anxiety-generating nature of the interpreting task and the relevance of interpreter trainees’ academic self-concept. The first has already been acknowledged, although not extensively researched, in several papers, and the second has only been mentioned briefly in interpreting literature. This study seeks to examine the relationship between the anxiety and academic self-concept constructs among interpreter trainees. An adapted version of the Foreign Language Anxiety Scale (Horwitz et al., 1986), the Academic Autoconcept Scale (Schmidt, Messoulam & Molina, 2008) and a background information questionnaire were used to collect data. Students’ t-Test analysis results indicated that female students reported experiencing significantly higher levels of anxiety than male students. No significant gender difference in self-concept levels was found. Correlation analysis results suggested, on the one hand, that younger would-be interpreters suffered from higher anxiety levels and students with higher marks tended to have lower anxiety levels; and, on the other hand, that younger students had lower self-concept levels and higher-ability students held higher self-concept levels. In addition, the results revealed that students with higher anxiety levels tended to have lower self-concept levels. Based on these findings, recommendations for interpreting pedagogy are discussed.

Is there a concept of nationhood in the Bible that can provide us with a framework for cross-cultural Christian mission? This thesis argues that current evangelical missiology has accepted too willingly the categories of the secular Enlightenment understanding of ethnicity and nationhood, and that it needs to rethink its understanding of nations from a biblical standpoint. While the pressures of globalisation are seen by some as rapidly eclipsing the nation-state, this thesis will argue that we need to move beyond the narrower secular categories of citizenship, political power and the boundaries of the state to recover a more biblical understanding of nationhood. By reference to Genesis 10-11, Acts 2:1-11 and those passages in the Book of Revelation that discuss the destiny of the nations, it will show that the biblical understanding of nations includes deeper ideas of shared history, culture and language as the essential components of nationhood. It will explain how nations are part of the created order, and explore the impact of the Babel narrative on our understanding of nations in relation to God. It will demonstrate that Pentecost did not reverse the curse of Babel, but served rather to honour the dignity and value of nations and their languages. It will also argue that nations have a destiny in the New Creation according to the Book of Revelation. This biblical concept of nationhood has significant implications in several areas: the development of a public theology; a Christian response to nationalism; the question of how urban mission fits within mission to the nations; and the importance of indigenous languages in cross-cultural mission, especially in the multicultural cities of Europe.

O trabalho teve por objetivo avaliar a dinâmica de nitrogênio, em cultivo heterotrófico, a partir da cianobactéria Aphanothece microscopica Nägeli, sob o escopo de uma biorrefinaria. Neste sentido, foi avaliada a contribuição dos compostos nitrogenados não proteicos, na dinâmica de distribuição do nitrogênio, na biomassa gerada pelo micro-organismo em estudo, quando cultivado em sistema autotrófico e heterotrófico. Para o cultivo em condições autotróficas, foi utilizado o meio padrão BG-11, enquanto que, para o cultivo em condições heterotróficas, foi empregado o efluente da indústria de laticínios. Inicialmente, foi avaliada a contribuição dos pigmentos na fração nitrogenada não proteica tendo como base dois experimentos. No primeiro experimento foi selecionada a melhor condição para a produção de pigmentos, expressos pela clorofila-a em sistema heterotrófico, tendo como base os parâmetros C/N (20, 40 e 60), N/P (5, 10 e 15) e concentração de inóculo (100, 200 e 300 mg.L-1), mediante um planejamento fatorial 23 . Os experimentos foram conduzidos em biorreator heterotrófico a 20°C, pH 7,6 e aeração contínua de 1VVM. A melhor condição de produção de pigmento foi indicada como sendo a 200 mg.L-1 de concentração celular, razões C/N 20 e N/P 10. Com base nestes resultados, um segundo experimento foi delineado, visando avaliar a contribuição de pigmentos na fração de nitrogênio não proteico, bem como avaliar a produção de clorofila-a e ficobiliproteínas (ficocianina, aloficocianina e ficoeritrina), sob influência da luz e do meio de cultivo. Foi possível destacar teores superiores de ficobiliproteínas na biomassa gerada no cultivo heterotrófico. No entanto, com notada diferença (p≤0,05) nos teores de clorofila-a, quando são comparadas as concentrações na biomassa de meios autotróficos (10,7 mg.g-1) e heterotróficos (1,0 mg.g-1). Fato este compensado pelo menor tempo de cultivo registrado para atingir o final do experimento, quando o micro-organismo é cultivado em condições heterotróficas. Fica demonstrado assim, ainda, a importante contribuição dos pigmentos na fração de nitrogênio não proteico. Na sequência, um terceiro e quarto experimentos foram delineados, visando avaliar a influência do nitrogênio inorgânico intracelular na fração não proteica e na produção de proteína, assim como a caracterização da fração proteica quanto ao seu perfil aminoacídico. O estudo da dinâmica do nitrogênio intracelular demonstrou que o N-NH4 + foi a forma nitrogenada predominante, perfazendo importante fração de N-NP, sendo, portanto, os teores de N-NP significativamente dependente dos teores de pigmentos e nitrogênio intracelular. Os aminogramas das biomassas geradas pelos cultivos autotróficos e heterotróficos indicaram como aminoácidos majoritários o ácido glutâmico e aspártico, seguidos por valina, leucina e isoleucina, e como minoritários, lisina, glicina e metionina. O perfil aminoacídico caracterizou-se por apresentar aminoácidos essenciais como isoleucina, metionina + cisteína, fenilalanina + tirosina, valina e treonina em concentrações superiores ao preconizado pela FAO/WHO. A caracterização da fração proteica quanto ao perfil aminoacídico qualificou esta biomassa como fonte potencial de proteína. Os resultados obtidos neste trabalho demonstram a influência e dinâmica de distribuição dos compostos nitrogenados em Aphanothece microscopica Nägeli. Fica demonstrado, ainda, que a implementação do conceito de biorrefino, no tipo de agroindústria estudado, poderá representar importantes possibilidades de aproveitamento sustentável do efluente gerado.
