A series of K-Ar dates from Mt Giluwe volcano is reported and its relevance to the Quaternary history of the volcano is discussed. The period between about 380 000 and 220 000 years BP seems to have been one of major volcanic activity. During the volcanic activity there were periods of ice cover probably of short duration. The oldest evidence of glacial action predates a lava flow dated at between 340 000 and 380 000 years. At about 290 000 years an ice cap of a thickness of at least 100 m covered the summit area and one or a series of subglacial eruption(s) led to the formation of palagonitic breccia. This event was probably associated with a complete melting of the ice since it was followed almost immediately by the eruption of a thick sequence of normal lava flows which range in age from about 289 000 years to about 220 000 years. Subsequent volcanic activity was less significant and no dates are available on this.

To unravel the climatic and environmental dynamics in the borderlands of the Aegean Sea during the early and middle Holocene, and notably for the interval of sapropel S1 (S1) formation, we have analysed terrestrial palynomorphs from a marine core in the northern Aegean Sea. The qualitative results were complemented by quantitative pollen-based climate reconstructions. A land-sea correlation was established based on pollen data and sediment lightness measurements from the same core, and previously published benthic foraminifer data from a nearby core. The borderlands of the Aegean Sea underwent a transition from an open vegetation to oak-dominated woodlands between ~10.4 and ~9.5 ka cal BP. A coeval increase in winter precipitation suggests that moisture availability was the main factor controlling Holocene reforestation. The ~50% higher winter precipitation during S1 formation relative to "pre-sapropelic" conditions suggests a strong contribution from the borderlands of the Aegean Sea to the freshwater surplus during S1 formation. The humid and mild winter conditions during S1 formation were repeatedly punctuated by short-term climatic events that caused a partial deforestation and a reorganisation within the broad-leaved arboreal vegetation. In the marine realm, these events are documented by improved benthic oxygenation. The strongest event represents the regional expression of the 8.2 ka cold event and led to an interruption in S1 formation. Except for the interval of S1 formation, the pollen-derived winter temperatures correlate with the smoothed GISP2 K+ series. They support the previously published, marine-based concept that the intensity of the Siberian High strongly controlled the winter climate in the Aegean region. During S1 formation in the Aegean Sea, however, climate conditions in the borderlands were more strongly affected by the monsoonally influenced climate system of the lower latitudes.

A importância da indústria de telefonia móvel celular aumenta em ritmo acelerado no mundo conduzindo a vários estudos a seu respeito para maior conhecimento de sua estrutura; no Brasil, os resultados desses estudos apontam a crescente participação do setor de telefonia móvel em seu PIB. A análise e a compreensão da estrutura de uma indústria mostram as raízes de sua lucratividade proporcionando uma melhor visão do setor para que seus operadores possam se antecipar à concorrência, bem como influenciá-la ao longo do tempo. Nesse sentido, o objetivo deste artigo é investigar e descrever a estrutura da indústria de telefonia móvel da cidade de São Paulo, nos últimos três anos, à luz do modelo de concorrência ampliada de Michael Porter. Promoveu-se, para a análise da estrutura do setor, um estudo exploratório baseado em referencial teórico clássico sobre estratégia competitiva e atratividade setorial, buscando-se dados secundários para o conhecimento das influências externas que atuam sobre as forças competitivas descritas por Michael Porter. Após o estudo e interpretação dessas forças, conseguiu-se obter as informações necessárias para apresentar uma descrição da indústria e seu comportamento sob suas influências.

RESUMO O presente trabalho pretende identificar quais as dificuldades encontradas para a implementação da inclusão digital no Ensino Médio da Escola Estadual Deputado João Evaristo Curvo, na cidade de Jauru, Mato Grosso. Os objetivos da pesquisa serão: Identificar os principais ambientes de aprendizagem digital dos alunos do Ensino Médio; Descrever as formas de apropriação da tecnologia da informação realizadas pelos educadores, educandos e pela instituição e avaliar a eficácia da tecnologia da informação para a implementação da inclusão digital e social dos mesmos. A metodologia utilizada para a realização do trabalho será a pesquisa caracterizada como qualitativa descritiva, e ela se dará através de observações e questionários. Através da análise dos resultados buscar-se-á pensar e repensar a realidade vivenciada pelo educador em salas no Ensino Médio e na validação de um modo mais viável para a implementação da inclusão digital. Na medida em que a reflexão for realizada esta pesquisa deverá contribuir para facilitar a busca e o interesse dos estudantes pela aprendizagem e pelas inovações tecnológicas, a fim de que os mesmos disponham de um patrimônio intelectual e encontrem condições de autorrealização e crescimento sociocultural, pois a interação escolar exige-se uma postura adequada de todos os envolvidos, e variedades educacionais que devem ser trabalhadas na prática do processo de ensino pedagógico. Sea urchins are common benthic organisms on coastal ecosystems of tropical and temperate shallow waters. The impact of sea urchins populations in shore communities is density-dependent, and therefore, knowledge of the life history of these animals is important to understand these interactions. Between 2000 and 2005 a population boom of Tripneustes ventricosus was observed in the Fernando de Noronha Archipelago. In 2004 a research program was started to monitor the population dynamics of T. ventricosus in the archipelago, when it noted a lack of basic information on the biology and reproduction of this species, despite its broad geographic distribution and economic importance in parts of its occurrence. In this context, this work focuses on the reproductive biology of T. ventricosus with emphasis on the description of the gametogenic stages. Between December 2006 and July 2007, ten urchins were collected by snorkeling in two sites of the archipelago, totaling 120 individuals. Gametogenic stages were described for both sexes through microscopic analysis, and were defined as: Recovery, Growing, Premature, Mature and Spawning. Results showed increasing in Gonad index throughout of months of sampling and suggest that the reproductive cycle of the species in the archipelago is annual

A partir da filosofia pragmatista de William James a qual valoriza a noção de fragmentação e a junção disjuntiva de fragmentos, bem como a partir da filosofia francesa do pós-68 delineou-se a noção de documento como agenciamento permitindo assim traçar a evolução de protocolos para a descrição bibliográfica desde o AACR, passando pelo modelo conceitual FRBR, RDA e chegando à Web Semântica onde são identificadas estruturas rizomáticas de representação do conhecimento.

The TOMO-ETNA experiment was devised to image of the crust underlying the volcanic edifice and, possibly, its plumbing system by using passive and active refraction/reflection seismic methods. This experiment included activities both on-land and offshore with the main objective of obtaining a new high-resolution seismic tomography to improve the knowledge of the crustal structures existing beneath the Etna volcano and northeast Sicily up to Aeolian Islands. The TOMO ETNA experiment was divided in two phases. The first phase started on June 15, 2014 and finalized on July 24, 2014, with the withdrawal of two removable seismic networks (a Short Period Network and a Broadband network composed by 80 and 20 stations respectively) deployed at Etna volcano and surrounding areas. During this first phase the oceanographic research vessel “Sarmiento de Gamboa” and the hydro-oceanographic vessel “Galatea” performed the offshore activities, which includes the deployment of ocean bottom seismometers (OBS), air-gun shooting for Wide Angle Seismic refraction (WAS), Multi-Channel Seismic (MCS) reflection surveys, magnetic surveys and ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) dives. This phase finished with the recovery of the short period seismic network. In the second phase the Broadband seismic network remained operative until October 28, 2014, and the R/V “Aegaeo” performed additional MCS surveys during November 19-27, 2014. Overall, the information deriving from TOMO-ETNA experiment could provide the answer to many uncertainties that have arisen while exploiting the large amount of data provided by the cutting-edge monitoring systems of Etna volcano and seismogenic area of eastern Sicily.

This study aimed to verify the diversity of Culicidae species and their frequency of infection with flaviviruses and alphaviruses in Cuiabá, state of Mato Grosso, Brazil. Mosquitoes were captured with Nasci aspirators and hand net in 200 census tracts, identified alive at species level and pooled in one-20 (11,090 mosquitoes, 14 species). Female pools (n = 610) were subjected to multiplex seminested-reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) for 11 flavivirus and five alphavirus. Positive pools were tested by single RT-PCR followed by nucleotide sequencing, by RT-PCR for E1 gene [Mayaro virus (MAYV)] and by inoculation in Vero cells (MAYV) or C6/36 cells (flaviviruses). One/171 Aedes aegypti was positive for dengue virus (DENV)-1, 12/403 Culex quinquefasciatus , and four/171 Ae. aegypti for MAYV, which was isolated from two pools containing two nonengorged females of Ae. aegypti and two of Cx. quinquefasciatus. DENV-4 was detected in 58/171 pools of Ae. aegytpi, 105/403 Cx. quinquefasciatus, two/five Psorophora sp., two/11 Psorophora varipes / Psorophora albigenu , one/one Sabethes chloropterus , two/five Culex bidens / Culex interfor , and one/one Aedes sp. DENV-4 was isolated from two pools containing three and 16 nonengorged Cx. quinquefasciatus females. Phylogenetic analysis revealed MAYV belongs to genotype L, clustering with human samples of the virus previously identified in the city. Cuiabá has biodiversity and ecosystem favourable for vector proliferation, representing a risk for arbovirus outbreaks.
