El texto describe el proyecto que lleva a cabo la cooperativa Gorg Blau que gestiona el colegio San Felip Neri de Palma de Mallorca. Este colegio cuenta con un porcentaje de alumnos inmigrantes muy superior a la media de colegios de Mallorca, por lo tanto llevan a cabo un trabajo educativo relacionado con la multiculturalidad, trabajando con especial atención la dimensión humana.

Previous BAC clone analysis of the Platyrrhini owl monkey KIRs have shown an unusual genetic structure in some loci. Therefore, cDNAs encoding KIR molecules from eleven Aotus vociferans monkeys were characterized here; tenputative KIR loci were found, some of which encoded atypical proteins such as KIR4DL and transcripts predicted to encode a D0+D1 configuration (AOTVOKIR2DL1*01v1) which appear to be unique in the Aotus genus. Furthermore, alternative splicing was found as a likely mechanism for producing activator receptors in A. vociferans species. KIR proteins from New World monkeys may be split into three new lineages according to domain by domain phylogenetic analysis. Although the A. vociferans KIR family displayed a high divergence among paralogous genes, individual loci were limited in their genetic polymorphism. Selection analysis showed that both constrained and rapid evolution may operate within the AvKIR family. The frequent alternative splicing (as a likely mechanism generating activator receptors), the presence of KIR4DL and KIR2DL1 (D0+D1) molecules and other data reported here suggest that the KIR family in Aotus has had a rapid evolution, independent from its Catarrhini counterparts.from its Catarrhini counterparts.

A completely effective vaccine for malaria (one of the major infectious diseases worldwide) is not yet available; different membrane proteins involved in parasite-host interactions have been proposed as candidates for designing it. It has been found that proteins encoded by the merozoite surface protein (msp)-7 multigene family are antibody targets in natural infection; the nucleotide diversity of three Pvmsp-7 genes was thus analyzed in a Colombian parasite population. By contrast with P. falciparum msp-7 loci and ancestral P. vivax msp-7 genes, specie-specific duplicates of the latter specie display high genetic variability, generated by single nucleotide polymorphisms, repeat regions, and recombination. At least three major allele types are present in Pvmsp-7C, Pvmsp-7H and Pvmsp-7I and positive selection seems to be operating on the central region of these msp-7 genes. Although this region has high genetic polymorphism, the C-terminus (Pfam domain ID: PF12948) is conserved and could be an important candidate when designing a subunit-based antimalarial vaccine.

Esta monografía pretende analizar el estado actual del multiculturalismo en Colombia a partir del estudio de las sentencias del Consejo de Estado y la Corte Constitucional aplicado al conflicto suscitado entre el Estado colombiano, la Occidental de Colombia y la comunidad indígena u´wa. Los propósitos particulares que persigue la investigación giran en torno a cuatro puntos: primero, la descripción del conflicto entre la comunidad u`wa, el Estado colombiano y la multinacional petrolera Occidental de Colombia; segundo, reseñar las sentencias de la Corte Constitucional y el Consejo de Estado aplicando los planteamientos de Duncan Kennedy, desde los cuales se analizarán los fallos, la colisión y el precedente; tercero, examinar la situación actual de la multiculturalidad en Colombia teniendo en cuenta los planteamientos de Will Kymlicka sobre multiculturalismo y las garantías otorgadas hasta el momento por el Estado colombiano a los indígenas, y cuarto, mirar la indefinición del conflicto y sus consecuencias en el diseño de una política multicultural clara.

Background Plasmodium vivax is one of the five species causing malaria in human beings, affecting around 391 million people annually. The development of an anti-malarial vaccine has been proposed as an alternative for controlling this disease. However, its development has been hampered by allele-specific responses produced by the high genetic diversity shown by some parasite antigens. Evaluating these antigens’ genetic diversity is thus essential when designing a completely effective vaccine. Methods The gene sequences of Plasmodium vivax p12 (pv12) and p38 (pv38), obtained from field isolates in Colombia, were used for evaluating haplotype polymorphism and distribution by population genetics analysis. The evolutionary forces generating the variation pattern so observed were also determined. Results Both pv12 and pv38 were shown to have low genetic diversity. The neutral model for pv12 could not be discarded, whilst polymorphism in pv38 was maintained by balanced selection restricted to the gene’s 5′ region. Both encoded proteins seemed to have functional/structural constraints due to the presence of s48/45 domains, which were seen to be highly conserved.

A través de este Programa se pretende compensar las desigualdades en educación derivadas de factores culturales, económicos o sociales, en relación con alumnos pertenecientes a minorías étnicas y de otras nacionalidades. Esto se lleva a cabo: 1.- Promoviendo la adoptación de medidas que favorezcan la acogida en el Centro de alumnos provenientes de otras culturas, razas y paises. 2.- Facilitando los medios necesarios para la atención preferente de alumnos de familias inmigrantes, principalmente encaminados a la enseñanza de la lengua castellana y/o a la compensación de situaciones de desfase escolar. 3.- Respetando las tradiciones, religiones, usos, y costumbres de los alumnos de minorías étnicas o nacionales, tendiendo hacia una educación tolerante, no exclusivista. 4.- Potenciando las actitudes de tolerancia, respeto y comunicación mutuos, solidaridad y aprecio de otras culturas o razas entre todos los alumnos del Centro, independientemente de su origen nacional, cultural, étnico o lingüístico, como medio de prevenir y resolver los problemas de discriminación, xenofobia y racismo. El contenido y las actividades de este Programa se pueden concretar en los siguientes puntos: 1.- Acogida de alumnos provenientes de otras culturas o países. 2.- Atención compensadora de alumnos. 3.- Realización de un plan de fomento de las actitudes de tolerancia, erspeto y apertura dirigido a todos los alumnos del centro. 4.- Coordinación con otros servicios socioeducativos..
