Maxillary dentigerous cyst and supernumerary tooth. Is it a frequent association?

Dentigerous cysts, also known as follicular cysts, are a relatively common pathology in our field. They are associated with unerupted or semi-erupted teeth and are usually not related to supernumerary teeth. OBJECTIVE: To describe a dentigerous cyst case associated to a supernumerary tooth. CASE-REPORT: A large-sized dentigerous cyst is described, associated with a supernumerary tooth, affecting the whole maxillary anterior area. Appropriate treatment consists of performing root canals and a Partsch II procedure with a cystectomy, extracting the unerupted teeth, carrying out an apicoectomy and retro-filling the affected teeth. The defect is filled with a bone xenograft. Possible therapeutic alternatives and the connection between the dentigerous cysts and supernumerary teeth are considered in the discussion.

Työssä käsitellään projektin alkuvaiheessa tapahtuvaan arviontiprosessiin liittyvää teknistä ja taloudellista estimointia. Työssä perehdytään työmäärien estimointimenetelmiin sekä taloudellisen ennusteen rakentamiseen.

Se trata de una propuesta como resultado del trabajo conjunto entre la escuela de Arte Pigment y el ESPAI ZERO1 del Museu Comarcal de la Garrotxa, destinado exclusivamente a exposiciones temporales de creación contemporánea y como continuidad de propuestas anteriores de colaboración: REPLICA23 y SONESNAT JUNIOR. Com si fos possible recollir el sofriment es un proyecto de la artista Anna Manel.la, y se consideró una propuesta interesante y un reto para conversar, intercambiar y crear con los alumnos sobre el tema de la exposición: la muerte y el sufrimiento. Asimismo porque es una artista conocida por los alumnos de la escuela Pigment, ya que anteriormente habían realizado un proyecto de apadrinamiento de esculturas y habitualmente ella participa en programas divulgativos en la escuela. El trabajo desarrollado centra el aprendizaje en la creación y en la investigación artística como ejes de los procesos de conceptualización con el objetivo de atender las dinámicas y los estímulos característicos de los niños. Facilitando procesos de búsqueda, exploración y manipulación sin condicionantes y promoviendo procesos autónomos en los que los mismos niños se planteen dudas e interrogantes y se enfrenten a situaciones cada vez mas complejas

Desreplicação de alcaloides aporfínicos e oxoaporfínicos de Unonopsis guatterioides por ESI-IT-MS

The dereplication of aporphine and oxoaporphine alkaloids by direct infusion in ESI-IT-MSn system was applied for alkaloidal fractions of the Unonopsis guatterioides (Annonaceae). Its main advantage over other dereplication methods is the ability to quickly identify substances in complex mixtures without the use of coupled techniques and expensive databases. By only the fragmentation keys and comparison with literature data the aporphine alkaloids anonaine, asimilobine and nornuciferine were identified. The nornuciferine is being reported for the first time in Unonopsis. The oxoaporphine alkaloids liriodenine and lisycamine were identified in the alkaloidal fractions by comparison with the fragmentations of authentic samples.

Tropical biodiversity: has it been a potential source of secondary metabolites useful for medicinal chemistry?

The use of natural products has definitely been the most successful strategy in the discovery of novel medicines. Secondary metabolites from terrestrial and marine organisms have found considerable use in the treatment of numerous diseases and have been considered lead molecules both in their natural form and as templates for medicinal chemistry. This paper seeks to show the great value of secondary metabolites and emphasize the rich chemical diversity of Brazilian biodiversity. This natural chemical library remains understudied, but can be a useful source of new secondary metabolites with potential application as templates for drug discovery.

Is it necessary to soak rice grains to prepare Rhizoctonia solani AG-4 inoculum?

A study was conducted to evaluate the effects on the development of root rot on common bean, cv. 'Dufrix' after treatment with four volumes of water (0, 30%, 60%, and 90%, v/w) added to rice grains previously immersed in water for 24 hours before autoclaving and colonization of grains by Rhizoctoniasolani AG-4. Colonized rice grains and non-infested rice grains were mixed in pots with sterilized soil and sand (2:1), where beans were sown. Based on results of area under plant emergence curve, plant height, plant dry weight, and disease severity, we conclude that inoculum is more effective in causing disease when no water is added to the rice grains before autoclaving.

Monikanavaisen kriisiviestintämallin kehittäminen, asiakasyrityksenä Medi-IT Oy

Tämän diplomityön tavoitteena oli selvittää, mitä asioita organisaation tulisi huomioida tehokkaan, monikanavaisen kriisiviestintämallin suunnittelussa ja toteuttamisessa. Asiakasyritys Medi-IT Oy tukee terveydenhuollon ja sosiaalitoimen palveluntuottajien toimintaa tarjoamalla ja tuottamalla asiantuntija- ja tietotekniikkapalveluita. Tutkimuksessa keskitytään yrityksen tukipalveluyksikköön ja viestinnän lajeista häiriötilanteiden viestintään. Kriisiviestintämalli voidaan tarvittaessa lanseerata myös muihin yksiköihin. Medi-IT Oy:n kriisiviestintämallin kehittäminen aloitettiin kartoittamalla nykytilaa. Tämä tehtiin yrityksen nykyisiä toimintatapoja selvittämällä ja kysymällä asiakkaiden ja työntekijöiden mielipiteitä ja kokemuksia. Viestintään liittyvän puhelinkyselyn asiakkaille suoritti InnoLink-yritys. Kyselyn tuloksista nousi esiin viestinnän ongelmakohtia. Näihin paneutumalla löydettiin kehitettävät kohteet. Nämä kriisiviestinnän ja samalla tapahtumien hallinnan kehityskohteet on esitetty toimintojen tarkennuksina. Asiakasyritys on panostamassa prosessien laatuun ja on aloittamassa ITIL:in hyödyntämisen prosessien läpikäymisessä. Siksi myös ITIL:in periaatteita otettiin huomioon tässä kriisiviestinnän prosessimallissa. Työssä selvitettiin teoriakatsauksen pohjalta, mitkä ovat hyvän kriisiviestinnän ominaisuudet ja mitkä ovat monikanavaisuuden asettamat haasteet, edut ja haitat. Prosessin mallintamisessa käytettiin tapahtumien hallintaan keskittyvää työkalua. Työn lopputuloksena syntyi asiakasyritykselle monikanavaisen kriisiviestinnän kehittämismalli sekä kehittämistä vaativien toimintojen tarkennukset. Työhön sisältyy myös tulevaisuuden kriisiviestinnän prosessimalli, jonka toteutuminen ei ole vielä teknisesti täysin mahdollista.

Is it possible to utilize VIX for a profitable trading strategy of S&P 500 Index?

The goal of this research was to make an overall sight to VIX® and how it can be used as a stock market indicator. Volatility index often referred as the fear index, measures how much it costs for investor to protect his/her S&P 500 position from fluctuations with options. Over the relatively short history of VIX it has been a successful timing coordinator and it has given incremental information about the market state adding its own psychological view of the amount of fear and greed. Correctly utilized VIX information gives a considerable advantage in timing market actions. In this paper we test how VIX works as a leading indicator of broad stock market index such as S&P 500 (SPX). The purpose of this paper is to find a working way to interpret VIX. The various tests are made on time series data ranging from the year 1990 to the year 2010. The 10-day simple moving average strategy gave significant profits from the whole time when VIX data is available. Strategy was able to utilize the increases of SPX in example portfolio value and was able to step aside when SPX was declining. At the times when portfolio was aside of S it was on safety fund like on treasury bills getting an annual yield of 3 percent. On the other side just a static number’s of VIX did not work as indicators in a profit making way.
