Mortalidad e ingresos hospitalarios por violencia de los menores de 15 años en la Comunidad Valenciana (2007-2011)

Introducción: la violencia contra la infancia jamás es justificable y puede prevenirse actuando sobre los desencadenantes de comportamientos violentos. Conocer su magnitud y características posibilita emprender cambios que contribuyan a reducir su frecuencia y gravedad. Métodos: se analiza la mortalidad y los ingresos hospitalarios por violencia en menores de 15 años en el periodo 2007-2011 en la Comunitat Valenciana. Resultados: se contabilizaron 12 defunciones y 156 ingresos. Murieron tres veces más niños que niñas. Los fallecimientos fueron más frecuentes en los menores de un año, seguido del grupo de 10-14 años. Los seis casos de suicidio ocurrieron en el grupo de 10-14 años y los métodos utilizados fueron: ahorcamiento, estrangulamiento o sofocación y saltar desde lugar elevado. Los homicidios fueron el doble en niños y niñas de 0-9 años. Ingresaron por violencia dos veces más las niñas, siete veces más en el grupo de 10-14 años, tres veces más los extranjeros, dos veces más los residentes en medio rural y dos veces más si tenían riesgo de exclusión social, siendo estas diferencias estadísticamente significativas. Los ingresos por violencia autoinfligida fueron el doble (intento de suicidio) que por agresiones. Conclusiones: el número de casos es de gran importancia epidemiológica y de salud pública. En la violencia contra la infancia se manifiestan los ejes de desigualdad en salud y la necesidad de mejorar la declaración y la coordinación de todos los ámbitos de la atención a los menores. Es relevante relacionar las distintas fuentes de información, devolverla a los profesionales y formarlos.

Unraveling EU Policies: the ““Common Basic Principles”” and the ““European Integration Fund”” as a technology of government

this paper is about EU “soft policies” on immigrant integration. It analyzes the “Common Basic Principles” (CBPs) and the “European Integration Fund” (EIF), two devices that have been recently established within this framework. It adopts the theoretical perspective of the “anthropology of policy” and “governmentality studies”. It shows the context of birth of the aforementioned devices, as well as their functioning and the assessment done by the actors implied in the elaboration/implementation/evaluation of the related policies. It is based both on documentary research as well as direct observation and interviews done to the actors implied. It concludes that the PBC and the EIF should be considered as a “technology of government”, that strives to align the conduct of the actors with the governmental aims, as well as it produces specific practices and knowledge. It also underlines an intrinsic feature of many policies: their “congenital failure”, since they are (often) disputed and resignified by situated actors, who are embedded in asymmetrical power relations.

The sector of olive-oil cooperatives and the use of ICT: A comparative study regarding othe legal forms

The current global environment and the general increase in the spread and use of Information Technology and Communication (ICT) by companies and consumers, make the use of these technologies as essential to confront the growing competition in the market. Focused on this sector, in this research we analyze the use of electronic commerce, as through websites as through electronic markets, and the use of social networking tools as enablers of business. For this aim, we conducted a comparative analysis between the Andalusian olive oil cooperatives and other legal forms which are present in the sector.

El Burnout percibido o sensación de estar quemado en profesionales sanitarios: prevalencia y factores asociados

Depending on the various models explaining the burnout syndrome, different questionnaires have been developed to asses this topic, the most widely-used is the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI). Moreover, in trying to asses this syndrome in a faster and more practical way, several authors have developed other instruments with fewer items. The present investigation aims: 1. Study the prevalence of burnout syndrome perceived using a simple measure of self-reported burnout, and to analyse its association with the scales of MBI. 2. Study demographic and work conditions associated with the perceived burnout. 3. Relate the burnout to personal and work evaluations. The sample consist of 6150 health professionals in Latin America (mainly from Argentina but with representation from Mexico, Ecuador, Peru, Colombia, Uruguay, Guatemala and Spain, among others. The mean age of the sample was 42.4 years, 52.7% were males. They were supplied with an online questionnaire through the health web page ”Intramed” in order to measure characteristics, perceptions and professional opinions. The MBI and a simple question to assess perceptions of burnout (Do you feel burnt out ?) was also included. The results indicated that 36.3% of the sample has the perception of “burnt out” or burnout . The perceived burnout is closely related to emotional exhaustion and is independent of depersonalisation. The burnout is associated with the perceived sense of personal and family deterioration due to working conditions, and the idea of abandoning the profession
