Continuous enzymatic interesterification is an alternative to chemical interesterification for lipid modification technology which is economically viable for large scale use. A blend of 70% lard and 30% soybean oil was submitted to continuous enzymatic interesterification in a glass tubular bioreactor at flow rate ranging from 0.5 to 4.5 mL/min. The original mixture and the reaction products obtained were examined to determine melting and crystallization behavior by DSC, and analyzed for regiospecific fatty acid distribution. Continuous enzymatic interesterification changed the mixture, forming a new triacylglycerol composition, verified by DSC curves and variation in enthalpy of melting values. The regiospecific distribution of fatty acids was changed by flow variations in the reactor. In the continuous enzymatic interesterification reaction the flow rate of 4.5 mL/min, was more advantageous than slower flow rates, reducing acyl migration and increasing process productivity. Sequences of cloned resistance genes from a wide range of plant taxa reveal significant similarities in sequence homology and structural motifs. This is observed among genes conferring resistance to viral, bacterial, and fungal pathogens. In this study, oligonucleotide primers designed for conserved sequences from coding regions of disease resistance genes N (tobacco), RPS2 (Arabidopsis) and L6 (flax) were used to amplify related sequences from soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.]. Sequencing of amplification products indicated that at least nine classes of resistance gene analogs (RGAs) were detected. Genetic mapping of members of these classes located them to eight different linkage groups. Several RGA loci mapped near known resistance genes. A bacterial artificial chromosome library of soybean DNA was screened using primers and probes specific for eight RGA classes and clones were identified containing sequences unique to seven classes. Individual bacterial artificial chromosomes contained 2-10 members of single RGA classes. Clustering and sequence similarity of members of RGA classes suggests a common process in their evolution. Our data indicate that it may be possible to use sequence homologies from conserved motifs of cloned resistance genes to identify candidate resistance loci from widely diverse plant taxa.

The soybean is the grain in which greater food dependency has Mexico, reason why as of 2008, the government has promoted his culture, granting excellent subsidies, as much to producers as to buyers of the grain, thus contributing to a recent process of expansion in certain states, as it happens in Campeche. The objetive of this article is the analysis of the characteristics and effects of those supports, as well as of the rest of factors that until today they have taken to the producers of the mentioned state to initiate or to expand the cultivation of the soybean. The findings of the investigation reveal that although the producers have improved their levels of income, the process is vulnerable, as it depends on variables like the governmental supports, the international prices of the soybean and exchange rate. Although the study of the negative effects of genetically modified soybeans (GM) in other areas (environment, biodiversity, deforestation, human and animal health) is not the purpose of this investigation, some information will be provided, as on the conflict between soybean producers and beekeepers in the state of Campeche.
