This paper tries to understand the current status of South African labor market, which is changing in contradictory directions, i.e. a strengthening of the rights and protection of workers at the same time as the flexibilization of employment, in the context of the characteristics of labor and social security legislation in South Africa, as well as the nature of labor and social security reforms after democratization. We put emphasis on the corporatist nature of labor policy-making as the factor influencing the course of reforms; it is argued that the apparently contradictive changes can be explained consistently by the corporatist labor policy-making process which has been practiced notwithstanding the problem of representativeness.

In this study, the work and life of Indian IT engineers in Japan engaged in software development were examined through a questionnaire survey. Findings were further supported by comparative analyses with Chinese and Korean software engineers. While Indian IT software engineers appeared rather satisfied with their life overall in Japan, they seemed rather dissatisfied with their work conditions including such things as fringe benefits, the working-time management of the company, levels of salary and bonuses, and promotion opportunities. It was made clear that profiles and perceptions of Indian engineers and those of Chinese and Koreans in Japan were different.

Morphology evolution of high-index (331)A surfaces during molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) growth have been investigated in order to uncover their unique physic properties and fabricate spatially ordered low dimensional nanostructures. Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) measurements have shown that the step height and terrace width of GaAs layers increase monotonically with increasing substrate temperature in conventional MBE. However, this situation is reversed in atomic hydrogen-assisted MBE, indicating that step bunching is partly suppressed. We attribute this to the reduced surface migration length of Ga adatoms with atomic hydrogen. By using the step arrays formed on GaAs (331)A surfaces as the templates, we fabricated laterally ordered InGaAs self-aligned nanowires.

Surface morphology evolution of strained InAs/GaAs(331)A films was systematically investigated in this paper. Under As-rich conditions, InAs elongated islands aligned along [1 (1) over bar0] are formed at a substrate temperature of 510 degrees C. We explained it as a result of the anisotropic diffusion of adatoms. Under In-rich conditions, striking change has occurred with respect to the surface morphology of the InAs layers. Instead of anisotropic InAs elongated islands, unique island-pit pairs randomly distributed on the whole surface were observed. Using cooperative nucleation mechanisms proposed by Jesson et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 77, 1330 (1996)], we interpret the resulting surface morphology evolution.

Step like morphology of (331)A high-index surfaces during atomic hydrogen assisted molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) growth has been investigated. Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) measurements show that in conventional MBE, the step heights and terrace widths of GaAs layers increase monotonically with increasing substrate temperatures. The terrace widths and step densities increase with increasing the GaAs layer thickness and then saturates. And, in atomic hydrogen assisted MBE, the terrace width reduces and density increases when depositing the same amount of GaAs. It attributes this to the reduced surface migration length of Ga adatoms with atomic hydrogen. Laterally ordered InAs self-aligned nano-wires were grown on GaAs (331)A surfaces and its optical polarization properties were revealed by photoluminescence measurements.

采用分子束外延方法在CaAs(331)A高指数衬底上制备自对齐InAs纳米线(QWRs)或者三维(3D)岛状结构.InAs纳米线(QWRs)选择性生长在CaAs层的台阶边缘.通过原子力显微镜(AfM)仔细研究了InAs纳米微结构的表面形貌,发现不同的生长条件,包括:衬底温度、生长速率、和InAs层厚度等,对InAa表面形貌有很大的影响.如,低温更容易导致线状纳米微结构的形成,而高温更利于3D岛状结构形成.表面形貌的转变归结于表面能同应变能之间的竞争.

El presente libro pretende servir de ayuda en el proceso planificador de la Educación Infantil. Ofrece, por una parte, una serie de indicadores de evaluación y, por otra, una serie de actividades (jugar, contar, soñar, movernos, mirar, dibujar, relacionarnos, recortar, expresar, realizar, etc.), que mantienen una graduación entre los tres niveles del segundo ciclo de Educación Infantil ofreciendo al profesorado de cualquier nivel una visión global de la etapa. De esta forma, facilita al profesorado metodologías motivadoras que consiguen niños más autónomos, que se relacionan y comunican entre sí y con el entorno.

Este proyecto curricular se ha elaborado buscando el equilibrio entre las prescripciones y orientaciones que se plantean en el currículo oficial y las características de los alumnos con necesidades educativas especiales. Está encaminado, sobre todo, al desarrollo personal y a la potenciación de los aprendizajes básicos. Su objetivo es servir de ayuda a todos los profesionales que tienen en sus manos la educación de niños con necesidades educativas especiales, aportando una experiencia para la mejora y adaptación del currículo a las necesidades de cada alumno, cada centro y cada entorno.

We report a study of the stellar content of the near-infrared (NIR) cluster [DBS2003] 157 embedded in the extended H ii region GAL 331.31-00.34, which is associated with the IRAS source 16085-5138. JHK photometry was carried out in order to identify potential ionizing candidates, and the follow-up NIR spectroscopy allowed the spectral classification of some sources, including two O-type stars. A combination of NIR photometry and spectroscopy data was used to obtain the distance of these two stars, with the method of spectroscopic parallax: IRS 298 (O6 V, 3.35 +/- 0.61 kpc) and IRS 339 (O9 V, 3.24 +/- 0.56 kpc). Adopting the average distance of 3.29 +/- 0.58 kpc and comparing the Lyman continuum luminosity of these stars with that required to account for the radio continuum flux of the H ii region, we conclude that these two stars are the ionizing sources of GAL 331.31-00.34. Young stellar objects (YSOs) were searched by using our NIR photometry and mid-infrared (MIR) data from the Galactic Legacy Infrared Mid-Plane Survey Extraordinaire (GLIMPSE) survey. The analysis of NIR and MIR colourcolour diagrams resulted in 47 YSO candidates. The GLIMPSE counterpart of IRAS 16085-5138, which presents IRAS colour indices compatible with an ultracompact H ii region, has been identified. The analysis of its spectral energy distribution between 2 and m revealed that this source shows a spectral index a= 3.6 between 2 and m, which is typical of a YSO immersed in a protostellar envelope. Lower limits to the bolometric luminosity and the mass of the embedded protostar have been estimated as L= 7.7 x 10(3) L? and M= 10 M?, respectively, which correspond to a B0B1 V zero-age main sequence star.

Objective: The aim of this study was to screen CO2 laser (10.6 mu m) parameters to increase enamel resistance to a continuous-flow erosive challenge. Background data: A new clinical CO2 laser providing pulses of hundreds of microseconds, a range known to increase tooth acid-resistance, has been introduced in the market. Methods: Different laser parameters were tested in 12 groups (n = 20) with varying fluences from 0.1 to 0.9 J/cm(2), pulse durations from 80 to 400 mu s and repetition rates from 180 to 700 Hz. Non-lased samples (n = 30) served as controls. All samples were eroded by exposure to hydrochloric acid (pH 2.6) under continuous acid flow (60 mu L/min). Calcium and phosphate release into acid was monitored colorimetrically at 30 sec intervals up to 5 min and at 1 min intervals up to a total erosion time of 15 min. Scanning electron microscopic (SEM) analysis was performed in lased samples (n = 3). Data were statistically analysed by one-way ANOVA (p < 0.05) and Dunnett's post-hoc tests. Results: Calcium and phosphate release were significantly reduced by a maximum of 20% over time in samples irradiated with 0.4 J/cm(2) (200 mu s) at 450 Hz. Short-time reduction of calcium loss (<= 1.5 min) could be also achieved by irradiation with 0.7 J/cm(2) (300 mu s) at 200 and 300 Hz. Both parameters revealed surface modification. Conclusions: A set of CO2 laser parameters was found that could significantly reduce enamel mineral loss (20%) under in vitro erosive conditions. However, as all parameters also caused surface cracking, they are not recommended for clinical use.

Centrioles are cylindrical, ninefold symmetrical structures with peripheral triplet microtubules strictly required to template cilia and flagella. The highly conserved protein SAS-6 constitutes the center of the cartwheel assembly that scaffolds centrioles early in their biogenesis. We determined the x-ray structure of the amino-terminal domain of SAS-6 from zebrafish, and we show that recombinant SAS-6 self-associates in vitro into assemblies that resemble cartwheel centers. Point mutations are consistent with the notion that centriole formation in vivo depends on the interactions that define the self-assemblies observed here. Thus, these interactions are probably essential to the structural organization of cartwheel centers.
