Sustainable tourism practices through the eyes of the tourist: a case study of a tour operator

This internship report aim was to find out the importance of sustainable tourism practices from a tourist point of view. The research study and internship took place at Back-Roads Touring - a tour operator (based in London) that specializes in small group touring for seniors travellers from Australia, New Zealand, USA and Canada. Google Forms online questionnaire was used in order to answer the objectives of the study. In total 1322 clients received an online questionnaire out of which 182 filled in the survey. The study had four objectives, however the main focus was to find out which tourism practices ( out of 15 choices) were the most important to the respondents during a Back-Roads Tour and which tourism options (using the same 15 choices) the respondents identify as sustainable tourism options ( objective 2 and 3). The results showed that the respondents valued the most small group touring and having an experienced tour leader, which are the core practices of the company. Furthermore, the respondents were not seeking for more sustainable tourism practices neither willing to donate money to local charities/non- profit organizations. This finding shows that the clients are content with a current model of a tour, are willing to return, however price and quality will be play a key role in the decision. The respondents´ lack of wish to support or donate money to charities /non-profit organizations, could be due to the fact that most of the clients were from middle class thus they did not have enough disposable income. Moreover, one of the objectives of this study was to find out if the clients valued sustainable tourism certification. The results showed that the respondents’ were not aware of the sustainable tourism certification that the company obtained, however slightly over half of the respondents said that the knowledge of the certification has positively influenced them to travel again with a company.

Auditoria na UE : Avaliação dos riscos do auditor: Relatório de estágio

No sentido de uma aprendizagem e de um conhecimento mais aprofundado sobre a actividade da auditoria na sua vertente interna e externa, áreas de significativo interesse para um profissional da administração pública, foi este Relatório de Estágio fectuado na Universidade de Évora, integrando a equipa de auditoria interna desta Instituição e acompanhando os trabalhos desenvolvidos pela mesma. Este trabalho visa, com particular ênfase chamar a atenção para a crescente importância da Auditoria Interna, e dos riscos associados a esta actividade, recorrendo-se ainda a práticas e procedimentos inerentes à Auditoria Externa, uma vez que entre as mesmas se encontram pontos comuns relevantes para fundamento das acções desenvolvidas. A Auditoria Interna, numa visão actual do seu funcionamento, centra a sua atenção nas actividades que a Organização exerce. É neste sentido que este trabalho de estágio deve proporcionar: - uma reflexão sobre a importância do planeamento dos trabalhos; - um levantamento e identificação dos riscos de um auditor; - uma definição dos riscos da auditoria e da materialidade. De forma a que no decorrer do mesmo seja possível interpretar as normas técnicas e directrizes de auditoria, aplicando-as na execução dos trabalhos. Estes irão desenvolver-se incidindo sobre as normas internacionais de auditoria (ISA), ISA315 - Compreensão da Entidade e do Seu Ambiente e Avaliar os Riscos de Distorção Material e ISA 330 - Os Procedimentos do Auditor em Resposta a Riscos Avaliados. /ABSTRACT: ln order to get a deeper knowledge about the activity of internal auditing, a topic of significant interest for a public administration professional, the output of this work is an Internship Report realized in the University of Évora, integrating the internal auditing team of this institution and observing the work developed by this team. This work aims to draw attention to the increasing importance of Internal Auditing and to the risks associated with this activity, using practices and procedures of External Auditing, since there are important common issues between the two types of auditing, which are relevant for the tasks under analysis. The current approach in Internal Auditing is centered in the activities that the Organization performs. It is in this sense that this internship intends to: provide a reflection on the importance of planning, identify the risks of an auditor, define auditing risks and materiality. It is also intended that during the internship there is the opportunity to interpret the technical auditing norms and directives and to apply them in the execution of auditing tasks. The work will be developed considering the international standard for Auditing (ISA), ISA 315 Obtaining and understanding of the entity and its environment and assessing the risks of material misstatement e ISA 330- Materiality in Planning and Performing an Audit.

Clínica e cirurgia de animais de companhia

Para conclusão do Mestrado Integrado em Medicina Veterinária pela Universidade de Évora foi realizado um estágio no Centro Hospitalar Veterinário, situado no Porto, de Setembro de 2015 a Fevereiro de 2016, sob a orientação do Dr. André Gomes Pereira. O presente relatório está dividido em duas partes. A primeira parte consiste numa descrição de todos os casos e procedimentos assistidos. A segunda parte é composta por uma monografia sobre o tema “Pancreatite Canina”, com apresentação de dois casos clínicos, acompanhados durante a realização do estágio. A pancreatite é atualmente a doença do pâncreas exócrino mais comum em cães, podendo estar associada a inúmeros fatores de risco. A não existência de um teste, não invasivo, suficientemente específico e sensível, aliado à inespecificidade dos sinais clínicos torna o diagnóstico da pancreatite desafiante. Contudo, a ecografia abdominal é um teste de fácil utilização, que associado à crescente especialização do Médico Veterinário se tem mostrado muito útil na deteção de alterações pancreáticas; Abstract: (Small Animal Medicine and Surgery) For completion of the MSc in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Évora was held an internship at the Centro Hospitalar Veterinário located in Porto, from September 2015 to February 2016, under the supervision of Dr. André Gomes Pereira. This report is divided into two sections. The first part is a description of all cases and procedures. The second part consists of a monograph about "Canine Pancreatitis" with the presentation of two clinical cases followed during the internship. Pancreatitis is currently the most common exocrine pancreas disease in dogs that may be associated with numerous risk factors. The absence of a test, non-invasive, sensitive and specific enough, combined with the lack of specific clinical signs makes the diagnosis of pancreatitis challenging. However, abdominal ultrasound is an easy to use test that combined with the increasing specialization of the veterinarian has been very useful in detecting pancreatic changes.

Clínica de animais exóticos

O presente relatório tem como base o estágio curricular realizado na Clínica Veterinaria Exotics, em Barcelona, entre outubro 2015 e fevereiro de 2016, perfazendo um total de cinco meses. O estágio decorreu sob a orientação da Doutora Joana Reis e do Dr. Xavier Valls, estando inserido na área de medicina de animais exóticos. O relatório apresenta duas partes principais. Em primeiro, surge o relatório das atividades desenvolvidas durante o estágio, destacando o trabalho realizado nas diversas especialidades clínicas assim como a aprendizagem adquirida. De seguida, é apresentada uma revisão bibliográfica atualizada subordinada ao tema Insulinoma em furões destacando, para além das peculiaridades que envolvem esta espécie, as causas, o diagnóstico, as terapêuticas e os diversos desafios que esta doença origina no dia-a-dia da medicina veterinária: Abstract: Exotic animal medicine The internship, that originated this report, was conducted in an exotic animal medicine specialized clinic named Clínica Veterinaria Exotics, in Barcelona, from October 2015 to February 2016, with the supervision of professor Joana Reis and Dr. Xavier Valls. This report is comprised of two major sections: the first is a statistical study, where the clinical activities that were conducted in the many specialties of the exotic animal medicine are described, completing the analysis with a wide range of knowledge gotten from the daily routine of the clinic; as for the second part, it develops the current literature about, Insulinoma in ferrets, describing the animal’s particularities and the causes, diagnosis, therapies and challenges of this disease in the clinical veterinary medicine.

Bullyin: espectáculo/intervenção : Relatóriode estágio sobre o espectáculo teatral / intervenção educativa ACTA - A companhia de teatro do Algarve

BULLYING- espectáculo/intervenção, é um relatório de estágio elaborado no contexto do curso de Mestrado de Teatro em Arte do Actor da Universidade de Évora pelo aluno 20584 Pedro Mendes. Dá conta da experiência curricular do mestrando enquanto actor numa companhia de teatro profissional, bem como de urna análise e pesquisa temática, processual e académica, por ele desenvolvidas e redigidas. O estágio de três meses foi realizado na ACTA- A Companhia de Teatro do Algarve, sedeada na cidade de Faro, e teve como objectivo a construção e consequente apresentação do espectáculo BULLYING, terceira produção artística da companhia de carácter pedagógico, nas diversas escolas básicas da região. Segundo a orientação da docente Ana Tamen, o discente abordou todo o objecto de estágio através de urna aproximação estética ao Teatro do Oprimido de Augusto Boal. _Summary: BULLYING- Show/lntervention, is an internship report, elaborated within the context of a Master's Degree in Theatre, «The Actor’s Art» - at the University of Évora by the student, number 20584, Pedro Mendes. This report contains the curricular experience of the student while acting for a professional theatre company, as well as an analysis and a thematic, procedure and academic research, developed and written by the student. The three-month internship was made at ACTA - A Companhia de Teatro do Algarve (Algarve's Theatre Company), established in the town of Faro. The development and presentation of the show BULLYING, is the third artistic educational production of the company, in several schools of the region. Under the guidance of the teacher Ana Tamen, the student meant to establish, through this report, an aesthetic connection between the work developed in this context and Augusto Boal’s ‘Teatro do Oprimido'. A gestão de recursos humanos numa organização de saúde

A Gestão de Recursos Humanos é uma área que nos últimos anos se tem vindo a destacar, possibilitando uma empresa a prosperar ou não. Assim, desde que as estratégias organizacionais sofreram uma redefinição, os recursos humanos das empresas são vistos como uma fonte de vantagem competitiva. Este Trabalho Final de Mestrado faz uma descrição das atividades desenvolvidas, segundo o plano elaborado, no estágio académico durante 6 meses, com vista ao desenvolvimento pessoal, mas acima de tudo profissional e de experiência na área dos Recursos Humanos, através do qual se visa a aquisição e o desenvolvimento de conhecimentos e aptidões de prática organizacional numa organização de saúde. A metodologia utilizada foi do tipo observação participante e a análise da teoria para melhor entender e agir diligentemente nas tarefas em que se participa. O trabalho final seguirá a forma de um Relatório de Estágio e consequentes críticas que possam ter surgido durante o mesmo; Abstract: The Human Resources Management in a Health Organization The Human Resource Management is an area that in recent years has emphasized, enabling a company to prosper or not. So, since the organizational strategies suffered a redefinition, human resources companies are seen as a source of competitive advantage. This Master Final Work is a description of activities, according to the plan drawn up in the academic internship for 6 months with a view to personal development, but above all professional and experience in the field of Human Resources, through which it aims the acquisition and development of knowledge and skills of organizational practice in a healthcare organization. The methodology used was the type participant observation and analysis of the theory to better understand and act diligently on the tasks in which they participate. The final work will follow the form of an internship report and subsequent criticism that may have arisen in the meantime.

Prática de ensino supervisionada em educação pré-escolar: estimular o pensamento criativo-expressão dramática

O presente relatório de estágio que se enquadra no âmbito das unidades curriculares da Prática de Ensino Supervisionada I e II em Creche e Jardim de Infância, descreve e analisa todo o trabalho realizado em torno do desenvolvimento da criatividade na expressão dramática, tendo sido elaborado nas instalações do colégio Nossa Senhora da Piedade ao longo do Mestrado em Educação Pré-Escolar. Ao longo do relatório, é feita referência a uma investigação relativa à importância do desenvolvimento da criatividade e da expressão dramática, bem como o papel do educador e da sua ação no desenvolvimento, tendo por base os fundamentos teóricos como a Carta de Princípios para uma Ética Profissional da Associação de Profissionais de Educação de Infância (APEI) e o Perfil Profissional da Associação de Profissionais de Educação de Infância. O presente relatório retrata a prática e investigação em torno da temática, procurando realçar a importância da expressão dramática e mais aprofundadamente da criatividade no desenvolvimento da criança e por sua vez o impulso que esta pode ter no desenvolvimento da ação educativa, que sempre foi tido em conta ao longo da prática; Supervised Teaching practice on Pre-school education: The Stimulate creative thinking - drama expression Abstract: The present internship report, whose context falls on Day Care Centre and Kindergarten of the Supervise Teaching Practice curricular units I and II, describes and analyse all the work about the development of the creativity in the dramatic expression. It was developed in the facilities of the institution Nossa Senhora da Piedade during the master’s degree in Preschool Education. Throughout the report, it’s made a reference to an investigation on the value of the creativity in the dramatic expression development, as well as the educator’s role and his action on the development, based on the theoretical foundations as the Letter of Principles to a Professional Ethics from the Preschool Professional Association (APEI) and Preschool Teacher Professional Profile. The present report shows the practice and investigation around this issue, seeking to highlight the importance of the dramatic expression and deeper the importance of the creativity in the child development and also the impulse that this may have in the development of the educational action, which has always been taken in mind throughout the practice.

A promoção de práticas de educação e formação para a sustentabilidade: o caso do Centro Unesco Aldeias das Ciências

O presente relatório de estágio descreve as atividades desenvolvidas no decorrer de nove meses de estágio profissional, no âmbito do Mestrado em Gestão com especialização em Recursos Humanos, na Associação Centro UNESCO Aldeia das Ciências. Este relatório tem como objetivo descrever detalhadamente as atividades desenvolvidas na instituição acolhedora, bem como apresentar um conjunto de sugestões e recomendações que permitam melhorar os processos e procedimentos. No decorrer do estágio foram desenvolvidas diversas atividades, tendo as mesmas como foco a promoção da educação para a sustentabilidade em torno de três grandes áreas: exposições com tecnologias eco-eficientes (exposição Espaço Água, Energia Sustentável e Casa Sustentável) abertas à comunidade, angariação e reutilização de materiais recicláveis e atividades lúdico-pedagógicas em contexto escolar, como por exemplo: utilização de fornos solares, recolha de tampas, caricas e rolhas (Projeto “Bora lá). A instituição através dos seus diversos projetos pretende passar a mensagem da importância no investimento na educação e formação para a sustentabilidade; Abstract: Promoting education and training practices for sustainability - The Case of the Centro UNESCO Aldeia das Ciências This internship report describes the activities developed during a nine-month internship, in the scope of the Master's Degree in Management with a specialization in Human Resources, at the Association of UNESCO Village Center of Sciences. The purpose of this report is to describe in detail the activities carried out at the hospitable institution, as well as to present a set of suggestions and recommendations to improve processes and procedures. During the internship, several activities were carried out, focusing on the promotion of education for sustainability around three major areas: exhibitions with eco-efficient technologies (exhibition on Water, Sustainable Energy and Sustainable House) open to the community, fundraising And re-use of recyclable materials and educational activities in a school context, such as: the use of solar ovens, the collection of lids, caricas and corks ("Bora lá" Project). The institution through its various projects intends to convey the message of importance in investing in education and training for sustainability.

Synthesis of education programs, scholarship, loan, and internship opportunities available to assist in increasing the numbers of minorities working in fisheries and marine sciences

This report is divided into six sections, the first of which provides information on documents that emphasize the need for education/training of minorities in the sciences including marine science. Also provided is material students can use to find out about careers in the sciences, some universities that offer marine science education, and curricula that should be considered. The second section deals with existing programs designed to train pre-college students and prepare them either for further education or potential employment in the sciences. The next four sections deal with existing programs in the marine sciences for college-level students, scholarships and scholarship programs, examples of loan programs, and internships and internship programs.

Curricular training report: 7 months as a study coordinator at Blueclinical LTD

The present report describes in detail the activities undertaken under the coordination of clinical and observational studies during the curricular internship at Blueclinical Ltd., inserted in the Master of Pharmaceutical Biomedicine. Blueclinical Ltd.company operates in three different areas: R&D consultancy, management and coordination of trial centers, and a phase I unit. The curricular internship had the duration of seven months during which I was able to perform different tasks relating to coordination of clinical trials in Centro Hospitalar do Baixo Vouga, E.P.E., (CHBV) in Aveiro, Portugal. This academic internship allowed me to develop theoretical and practical skills in the field of clinical trials and observational studies. I also had the opportunity to further the knowledge I gained throughout my academic journey. During this internship, I had the opportunity to interact with different health professionals and develop my knowledge in the field of several therapeutic indications. I also could interact with distinct monitors and sponsors. This experience allowed me to improve time management, communication and problems resolution skills.

Curricular training report: clinical studies coordination in a clinical research organization vs an investigational site perspective

This report describes my experience of nine months as a trainee of a CRO (Eurotrials, Scientific Consultants), as well as a trainee of a clinical research site (Clinical Academic Center – Braga, Association). This document describes the European framework about clinical research and the Portuguese situation compared to similar countries. The activities developed during this internship are also described. These activities are divided in two phases. The first one occurred in Eurotrials, Scientific Consultants, a CRO specialized in clinical research and scientific advice. The first weeks were dedicated to intensive self-training needed to perform CTA tasks. These tasks included qualification, initiation and monitoring activities related to clinical trials, as well as the development of a quality management system. The second phase took place on 2CA-Braga, a clinical research center located in Hospital of Braga. Clinical studies coordination was the main focus of this second phase of my internship, as well as negotiation of clinical studies agreements. I had also the opportunity to participate in “1as Jornadas de Investigação Clínica e Inovação” (1st Clinical Investigation and Innovation Conference) organized by 2CA-Braga. Globally, this internship was a great opportunity to get knowledge and experience in the implementation and management of clinical trials, in a CRO and clinical research site perspectives. These two perspectives provided an interesting overview about the scientific needs of different players involved in clinical research. To conclude, this internship strengthened the knowledge acquired from my academic background, which make me able to face and overcome new challenges in the clinical research area.
