TyÃssä tutkitaan, kuinka Symbian käyttÃjärjestelmälle voidaan tehdä siirrettäviä ohjelmia. TyÃssä käydään läpi menetelmiä, jotka helpottavat ohjelmistojen siirrettävyyttä uudelle alustalle. Uuteen älypuhelimeen voi tulla monia uusia komponentteja. Laite voi muuttua piiritasolla, käyttÃjärjestelmästä voi tulla uusi versio sekä siirrettävästä ohjelmasta voi tulla uusi versio. Kaikki nämä vaikuttavat ohjelman siirrettävyyteen. TyÃssä tehtiin Java-rajapinnan siirto uudelle alustalle. Prosessin aikana lÃydettiin tärkeitä tekijÃitä, jotka vaikuttavat ohjelmiston siirrettävyyteen. Siirrettävyys sinänsä pitäisi ottaa huomioon ohjelmistoprosessin jokaisessa vaiheessa. Ãlypuhelimista tulee jatkuvasti uusia versioita. Tämä tekee ohjelmien siirrettävyydestä hyvin tärkeän tekijän ohjelmistojen suunnittelussa. Hyvin suunniteltu ohjelma on helpompi ylläpitää, päivättää ja siirtää myÃhemmin.

Tutkimuksen tavoitteena oli soveltaa innovaatioprosessiteorioita käytäntÃÃn konteksti huomioonottaen, koska langattoman sähkÃisen liiketoiminnan nopeat muutokset, metsäteollisuuden erityispiirteet ja ei-kaupallisuus asettavat erityistarpeita innovoinnille. Painopiste on prosessin aikaisissa vaiheissa, koska ne ovat kriittisiä koko innovaatioprosessin menestymisen kannalta. Tähtäimenä oli lÃytää yrityssektorille uusia langattomia sähkÃisen liiketoiminnan mahdollisuuksia, jotka hyÃdyttävät tutkimuksessa mukanaolevaa yritystä. Tutkimuksessa käytettiin konstruktiivista tutkimusotetta ja metodeina sähkÃistä aivomyrskyä, tarkistuslistaa sekä GDSS- ja postikyselyä.Tutkimuksen tuloksena on esitetty innovaatioprosessin aikaiset vaiheet kirjallisuudesta, metsäteollisuuden erityispiirteet ja innovaatioprosessisovellus. Lisäksi tämä tutkimus tuotti uusia sähkÃisen liiketoiminnan ideoita, suoritti niille seulonnan ja kävi läpi alustavan tutkimuksen.

Many companies today struggle with problems they face around sales lead management. They are suffering from inconsistent quality of leads, they miss clear sales opportunities and even cannot handle well their internal marketing lists. Meanwhile customers are better and better equipped with means to easily initiate contact via internet, via call centers etc. Investing in lead generation activities that are built on a bad process is not a good idea. Better than asking how to get more leads, companies should ask how to get better quality leads and invest in improving lead management. This study looks sales lead management as a multi step process where a company generates leads in controlled environment, qualifies them and hands over to the sales cycle. As a final step, organization needs to analyze the incomes and successes of different lead sources. Most often in sales lead management a process improvement requires setting up additional controls to enable proper tracking of all leads. A sales lead management process model for the case company is built based on the findings. Implementing the new model involves changes and improvements in some key areas of current process. Starting from the very beginning, these include redefining a bit the lead definition and revising the criteria set for qualified lead. There are some improvements to be done in the system side to enable the proposed model. Lastly a setting for responsible roles is presented.

Matkapuhelinverkot kehittyvät jatkuvasti tarjoten asiakkailleen uusia palveluja ja nopeampia datayhteyksiä. Verkkojen eri protokollien testaamisessa käytetään apuna tietoliikenneanalysaattoreita, joiden avulla matkapuhelinverkkojen eri rajapinnoissa liikkuvaa informaatiota voidaan tutkia yksityiskohtaisesti. Tämän tyÃn tarkoituksena oli suunnitella ja toteuttaa etämonitorointianalysaattorin testauksessa käytettävä testausohjelmisto ICONIX-prosessin avulla. Suunnitteluun katsottiin kuuluvan prosessiin mukaiset vaatimusmäärittelyn, analyysin ja alustavan suunnittelun sekä yksityiskohtaisen suunnittelun vaiheet. Toteutus muodostui vastaavasti ohjelmointityÃstä ja yksikkÃtestauksesta. TyÃn tuloksena saatiin suunnittelun ja toteutuksen aikana syntyneet erilaiset kaaviot ja ohjelmakoodi. Lisäksi testausohjelmistoa käytettiin etämonitorointianalysaattorin toiminnallisuus- ja suorituskykytesteissä, joiden perusteella arvioitiin toteutetun testausohjelmiston toimivuutta. Testausohjelmiston todettiin sopivan etämonitorointianalysaattorin testaukseen, sillä niin toiminnallisuustestit kuin kuormitustestitkin saatiin suoritettua onnistuneesti toteutetun testausohjelmiston avulla. ICONIX-prosessin todettiin sopivan testausohjelmiston suunnitteluun, vaikka testausohjelmisto onkin toimintaperiaatteeltaan erilainen, kuin prosessia esittelevissä lähteissä esimerkkeinä käytetyt ohjelmistot. Eri suunnitteluvaiheisiin kului prosessiin tottumattomalta aikaa, mutta toisaalta laadittuja suunnitelmia ei tarvinnut enää toteutusvaiheen aikana muuttaa ja ohjelmointityà oli hyvin suoraviivaista.

The aim of this Thesis is to study how to manage the front-end of the offering planning process. This includes actual process development and methods to gather and analyze information to achieve the best outcome in customer oriented product offering. Study is carried out in two parts: theoretical part and company related part. Theoretical framework is created introducing different types of approaches to manage product planning processes. Products are seen as platforms and they are broken down to subsystems to show different parts of the development. With the help of the matrix-based approaches product platform related information is gathered and analyzed. In this kind of analysis business/market drivers and cus-tomer/competitor information are connected with product subsystems. This gives possibilities to study product gaps/needs and possible future ideas/scenarios in different customer segments. Company related part consists of offering planning process development in real company environment. Process formation includes documents and tools that guide planning from the information gathering to the prioritization and decision making.

Kodintekniikka-alan kilpailutilanne on kiristynyt viime vuosina merkittävästi uusien kilpailijoiden ja myymälämäärän lisääntymisen myÃtä. MyÃs vuonna 2008 alkanut talouskriisi ja sen vaikutukset heikentävät alan näkymiä tulevina vuosina. Yritysten onkin täytynyt etsiä vaihtoehtoisia toimintatapoja kannattavuuden ja asiakasmäärien parantamisen vuoksi. Kohdeyritys on harjoittanut maahantuontia omien tuotemerkkien sekä virallisen maahantuonnin muodossa jo pitkään. Yrityksessä ei kuitenkaan ole aikaisemmin selvitetty logistisen prosessin tehokkuutta, joten yrityksessä on esiintynyt tarve selvittää prosessin kustannusrakenne ja mahdolliset heikkoudet. Tutkimuksessa tarkastellaan kohdeyrityksen oman maahantuonnin logistista prosessia sekä pyritään lÃytämään maahantuonnin kilpailukykyä lisääviä tekijÃitä. Päätutkimustyyppinä on tapaustutkimus ja sen lisäksi tutkimusmenetelmänä käytettiin toimintatutkimusta. Tutkimuksen aineisto on sekä kvalitatiivista että kvantitatiivista. Tutkimuksen tuloksista ilmenee, että logistinen prosessi on kohdeyrityksessä monelta osin hoidettu hyvin, mutta joitain parannuskohteitakin lÃytyi. MyÃs maahantuonnin kilpailukyvyn parantamiseksi lÃydettiin useita keinoja. Parannustoimilla on mahdollista säästää kustannuksissa sekä parantaa maahantuonnin palveluastetta.

The bachelorâs thesis concentrates on the innovativeness in the construction industry. The purpose of the thesis is to define the innovation as a concept reflected on a context of the construction industry. The second objective is to examine how the construction companies could foster and increase the innovativeness. The third objective was to find out tools, methods and phases of the front-end of the innovation process. The construction industry is often considered as a traditional and an old-fashioned manufacturing industry. The innovation or the innovativeness rarely linked to the construction industry. Productivity is a common problem in the construction industry. The construction industry needs to increase the productivity to compete in a globalized world. The productivity can be increased by the innovation. The thesis based on a literature review. The findings from the literature include a description of the innovation as a concept, the innovative culture and the innovation process as a context of the construction industry. The phases of the front-end of the innovation process were explained. Customers centered approach was taken into account in the innovation process. The required tools and methods for managing the front-end of the innovation process were illustrated. The thesis ensures the importance of the innovation facing challenges of the construction industry. Managing the front-end of the innovation is the most important aspect to stand out from the less innovative companies. To take a full advantage of the innovation companies cannot fear of changes. The innovation process requires a full support of the top management of the company. Taking into consideration a theoretical aspect of the thesis a further research is required to respond practical needs of the company. Tools and methods should be considered according the companyâs needs and activities. Companyâs existing state and culture should be examined before implementing the front-end of the innovation process to ensure the functionality.

In a networked business environment the visibility requirements towards the supply operations and customer interface has become tighter. In order to meet those requirements the master data of case company is seen as an enabler. However the current state of master data and its quality are not seen good enough to meet those requirements. In this thesis the target of research was to develop a process for managing master data quality as a continuous process and find solutions to cleanse the current customer and supplier data to meet the quality requirements defined in that process. Based on the theory of Master Data Management and data cleansing, small amount of master data was analyzed and cleansed using one commercial data cleansing solution available on the market. This was conducted in cooperation with the vendor as a proof of concept. In the proof of concept the cleansing solutionâs applicability to improve the quality of current master data was proved. Based on those findings and the theory of data management the recommendations and proposals for improving the quality of data were given. In the results was also discovered that the biggest reasons for poor data quality is the lack of data governance in the company, and the current master data solutions and its restrictions.

The purpose of the thesis is to study innovativeness in a context of the construction industry especially the front-end of the innovation process. The construction industry is often considered an old-fashioned manufacturing industry. Innovations and innovativeness are rarely linked to the industry. The construction industry, as well as other industries in Finland, is facing challenges such as productivity, the climate change and internationalization. The meaning of innovations is greater than ever in continuously changing markets, for standing out from competitors or increasing the competitiveness. Traditional production methods, tight building regulations, unique buildings, one-of-a-kind project organizations and highlighting the cheapest price in building contracts are particular challenges in the construction industry. The research questions of the thesis were: - What kind of factors shift the existing company culture towards innovativeness? - What are the phases of the front-end of the innovation process? - What kind of tools and methods enable managing the front-end of the innovation process? The theoretical part of the thesis bases on the literature review. The research methodology of the empirical part was the action research and qualitative approach. Empirical data was collected by the theme interviews from three companies. The results were practical methods and experiences from innovation activities of the companies. The results of the thesis can be clarified as follows: enhancement of the innovation activities requires support and commitment of the top management, innovative culture and innovation strategy. Innovativeness can be promoted by systematical methods for example collecting ideas from employees. Controlling and managing the front-end phase is essential to succeeding. Despite that managing the front-end is the most challenging part of the innovation process, development and management of that save companiesâ money, resources and prevents useless investments. Further clarification and studies are needed to find out furthermore functional tools and methods to manage innovations and implementing them to the culture of the companies.

This diploma thesis has been done to international organization which takes care from the accounting actions of two major companies. In this organization are used three different purchasing tools which are used when new asset master data is wanted to input to SAP R/3- system. The aim of this thesis is to find out how much changing the user interface of one of these three e-procurement programs will affect to overall efficiency in asset accounting. As an addition will be introduced project framework which can be used in future projects and which help to avoid certain steps in the development process. At the moment data needs to be inputted manually with many useless mouse clicks and data needs to be searched from many various resources which slow down the process. Other organization has better tools at the moment than the myOrders system which is under investigation Research was started by exploring the main improvement areas. After this possible defects were traced. Suggested improvements were thought by exploring literature which has been written from usability design and research. Meanwhile also directional calculations from the benefits of the project were done alongside with the analysis of the possible risks and threats. After this NSN IT approved the changes which they thought was acceptable. The next step was to program them into tool and test them before releasing to production environment. The calculations were made also from implemented improvements and compared them to planned ones From whole project was made a framework which can be utilized also to other similar projects. The complete calculation was not possible because of time schedule of the project. Important observation in the project was that efficiency is not improved not only by changing the GUI but also improving processes without any programming. Feedback from end user should be also listened more in development process. End-user is after all the one who knows the best how the program should look like.

In the theory part the membrane emulsification was studied. Emulsions are used in many industrial areas. Traditionally emulsions are prepared by using high shear in rotor-stator systems or in high pressure homogenizer systems. In membrane emulsification two immiscible liquids are mixed by pressuring one liquid through the membrane into the other liquid. With this technique energy could be saved, more homogeneous droplets could be formed and the amount of surfactant could be decreased. Ziegler-Natta and single-site catalysts are used in olefin polymerization processes. Nowadays, these catalysts are prepared according to traditional mixing emulsification. More homogeneous catalyst particles that have narrower particle size distribution might be prepared with membrane emulsification. The aim of the experimental part was to examine the possibility to prepare single site polypropylene catalyst using membrane emulsification technique. Different membrane materials and solidification techniques of the emulsion were examined. Also the toluene-PFC phase diagram was successfully measured during this thesis work. This phase diagram was used for process optimization. The polytetrafluoroethylene membranes had the largest contact angles with toluene and also the biggest difference between the contact angles measured with PFC and toluene. Despite of the contact angle measurement results no significant difference was noticed between particles prepared using PTFE membrane or metal sinter. The particle size distributions of catalyst prepared in these tests were quite wide. This would probably be fixed by using a membrane with a more homogeneous pore size distribution. It is also possible that the solidification rate has an effect on the particle sizes and particle morphology. When polymeric membranes are compared PTFE is probably still the best material for the process as it had the best chemical durability.
