Traducció i edició a Catalunya durant la primera dictadura del s.XX (1923-1930)

Quan Miguel Primo de Rivera va pujar al poder l’any 1923, una de les primeres accions que va portar a terme fou la imposició de la censura en la premsa, tant pel que fa a les publicacions periòdiques com als llibres. A la pràctica, però, l’impacte d’aquesta censura en l’edició de llibres va ser força reduït: de fet, durant els anys que va durar el directori el món editorial va viure un creixement considerable, tant pel que fa als volums editats (originals i traduïts) com al nombre de segells editorials. Amb aquest treball em proposo construir una base de dades que inclogui totes les traduccions publicades a Catalunya de 1923 a 1930 a partir de la qual em sigui possible valorar diversos aspectes relacionats amb l’activitat traductora durant la dictadura de Primo de Rivera (per exemple, les matèries i llengües més traduïdes, el perfil dels traductors més actius o les editorials i col•leccions més actives en la traducció).

La traducció de llibres japonesos a Espanya : revisió bibliogràfica de textos i paratextos (1930-2005)

Aquesta investigació és un primer pas per a una anàlisi del paper de la traducció en la construcció de la imatge de l'Altre japonès. Aquesta tesina consta d'un corpus de literatura japonesa traduïda a Espanya entre el 1930 i el 2005, incloent els gèneres d'assaig i tècnico-científics, i una anàlisi de les dades principalment quantitativa. S'analitza el tipus de traducció (directa o indirecta) de forma diacrònica i per gèneres, i també la selecció temàtica per observar si es tendeix a l'"exotisme", així com la utilitat dels paratextos per a aconseguir informació sobre el procés traductor

Durant la primera meitat del segle XX, el nivell de vida i les condicions de treball de molts sectors pagesos varen deteriorar-se. La imatge més contundent d'aquest deteriorament es troba en el contlicte que esclatà durant els anys trenta, a recés d'unes condicions polítiques oberturistes i esperonat per una depressió económica mundial

Entrepreneurship, organization and economic performance among Spanish firms, 1930-1975. The case of the motor industry

Before the Civil War (1936-1939), Spain had seen the emergence offirms of complex organizational forms. However, the conflict andthe postwar years changed this pattern. The argument put forwardin this paper is based on historical experience, the efforts willbe addressed to explain the development of Spanish entrepreneurshipduring the second half of the twentieth century. To illustrate thechange in entrepreneurship and organizational patterns among theSpanish firms during the Francoist regime we will turn to the caseof the motor vehicle industry.

Capital formation in machinery in Latin America, 1890-1930

Investment in machinery is a key aspect in the analysis of long-term economic growth during the era of the spread of industrialisation. But, historiography has only revealed what the pace of capital accumulation was in a few Latin American economies. This article offers continuous (annual) and consistent series on the magnitude of this investment in all of the Latin American countries for the period at the height of the first globalisation, 1890-1930. The paper gives special attention to comparative analysis, showing the differences that exist at the heart of the Latin American community, in the levels of capital formation in machinery as well as in the national development of this over time. The differences in the levels appear very indicative of the unequal degree of development reached by these economies. This article puts to test the hypothesis of intraregional divergence, obtaining the tentative result that there was divergence until 1913, but that there was convergence from 1914-1930.

[...] Today, virtual reality surgicalsimulation models allowing three-dimensional (3D) visualizationof the human inguinal anatomy can be used as a complementary tool to assess dynamics of the inguinal area. In fact, using simulations with the Wnite elementmethod we have recently confirmed the physiological “shutter” mechanism already described almost 100 years ago. These virtual reality Wndings are our presenttribute to the outstanding anatomic descriptions of ArthurKeith.

The First World War and coal trade geography in Latin America and the Caribbean (1890-1930)

This paper aims to illustrate the dynamics of coal trade between Latin America and its main trade partners, i.e. the USA, Great Britain and Germany, before and after the enormous disruption caused by the First World War. The coal trade was used as an indicator of modernization for Latin American countries, given that oil was at that time of secondary importance. Energy imports have determined the possibilities of each Latin American country in its process of development. Here we address this question and place special emphasis on supply channels, concluding that the trade link with main suppliers was of key significance. Although this was very clear by the end of the period, the process had started well before the First World War, at least for the majority of LA&C countries. These points are developed through a gravity model applied to the bilateral coal trade. The importance of the market supplier share is addressed through cluster methodologies.

New Estimates of Regional GDP in Spain, 1860-1930

This paper presents a new regional database on GDP in Spain for the years 1860, 1900, 1914 and 1930. Following Geary and Stark (2002), country level GDP estimates are allocated across Spanish provinces. The results are then compared with previous estimates. Further, this new evidence is used to analyze the evolution of regional inequality and convergence in the long run. According to the distribution dynamics approach suggested by Quah (1993, 1996) persistence appears as a main feature in the regional distribution of output. Therefore, in the long run no evidence of regional convergence in the Spanish economy is found.

Una nova estimació retrospectiva del VAB regional industrial. Espanya, 1860-1930

[cat] En aquest treball, es realitza una nova estimació del VAB industrial espanyol a un nivell de desagregació territorial corresponent a les províncies (NUTSIII) i les Comunitats Autònomes (NUTS II). Per assolir aquest objectiu es planteja una nova metodologia d’estimació de les xifres històriques de VAB industrial regional. Front a les aproximacions tradicionals, basades en la utilització de fonts fiscals com a forma d’aproximar la capacitat productiva industrial, en aquest treball s’ofereix una estimació que també es basa en les rendes generades per la producció industrial de les regions. Amb aquest objectiu, es fa servir la metodologia proposada per Geary i Stark (2002) i les millores proposades per Crafts (2005). La utilització d’aquesta metodologia permet elaborar una nova estimació retrospectiva del VAB industrial de les regions espanyoles a diversos talls temporals corresponents al període 1860-1930.

"Maurice" de James Ivory . ¿Traïció a la Tradició Clàssica en adaptar la novel·la d'E. M. Forster?

D'acord amb els estudis sobre literatura i cinema i des del punt de vista de la influència de la Tradició Clàssica -Tradició Grega Clàssica, en aquest cas-, aquest article és una anàlisi acurada de les traïcions inevitables -fins a un cert punt- dels guionistes respecte dels textos literaris que adapten. Tanmateix, malgrat ser pràcticament inevitable, el Dr. Pau Gilabert Barberà indica quins són en opinió seva els límits que Ivory/Hesketh-Harvey no haurien d'haver ultrapassat a fir de no diluir el temperament hel·lènic de "Maurice" d'E. M. Forster.

De acuerdo con los estudios sobre literatura y cine y desde el punto de vista de la influencia de la Tradición Clásica -Tradición Griega Clásica, en este caso-, este artículo es un análisis minucioso de las traiciones inevitables ¿hasta un cierto punto- de los guionistas a los textos literarios que adaptan. Sin embargo, a pesar de ser prácticamente inevitable, el Dr. Pau Gilabert Barberà indica cuáles son en su opinión los límites más allá de los cuales Ivory/Hesketh-Harvey no deberían haber ido a fin de no diluir el temperamento helénico de "Maurice" de E. M. Forster.

Dover, Kenneth James: "Homosexualidad griega", Barcelona

Publicado en inglés en el año 1978, el libro de K. J. Dover Homosexualidad griega se considera el primer ensayo serio dedicado a la homosexualidad masculina en la Grecia clásica. Éste y otros trabajos del mismo autor tuvieron influencia importante en los dos volúmenes centrados en la antigüedad de Histoire de la sexualité de Michel Foucault, de quién la edición española incluye como prólogo la reseña que el filósofo escribió a raíz de la edición francesa de la obra de K. J. Dover en 1982. La presente edición incluye, además, un actualizado apartado bibliográfico sobre la sexualidad en el mundo grecorromano y la homosexualidad en Grecia.
