Contravariantly finite subcategories closed under predecessors

Let A be an Artin algebra and mod A be the category of finitely generated right A-modules. We prove that an additive full subcategory C of mod A closed under predecessors is contravariantly finite if and only if its right Ext-orthogonal is covariantly finite, or if and only if the Ext-injectives in C define a cotilting module (over the support algebra of C) or, equivalently, if and only if C is the support of the representable functors given by the Ext-injectives. WHICH TOPOLOGIES HAVE IMMEDIATE PREDECESSORS IN THE POSET OF HAUSDORFF TOPOLOGIES?

We study which topology have an immediate predecessor in the poset of Sigma(2) of Hausdorff topologies on set X. We show that certain classes of H-closed topologies, do have predecessors. and we give examples of second countable H-closed topologies which are not upper Sigma(2.)

Spectral flow and iteration of closed semi-Riemannian geodesics

We introduce the notion of spectral flow along a periodic semi-Riemannian geodesic, as a suitable substitute of the Morse index in the Riemannian case. We study the growth of the spectral flow along a closed geodesic under iteration, determining its asymptotic behavior.
