The molecular structural parameters of indophenol and its derivatives were calculated by semi-empirical molecular orbital quantum chemical method,The relation between molecular structural parameters and formal potentials was analyzed by principal factor analysis and multiple Linear regression method. It was found that the formal potential of indophenols has a good relation with two-center electron exchange energy, E-ex (2), resonance energy of O-C bond, E-ex (C-1-O), and molecular ionization potential, I-p, among 19 moleclular structural parameters. The regression equation is E-0' = 1. 47 x 10 (-3) E-ex (two) - 5. 74 x 10 (-2) E-ex (C-1 - O) - 1. 41 x 10 (-2) I-p with RC = 0. 9999 and SD = 0. 00424. It was confirmed by the relation between structure parameters and formal potentials, and the thermodynamic stability of its intermediate products that the H (+) ionization is prior to the electron transfer step in the oxidation mechanism.

The adsorbed kinetics, proton transportation in electrochemical redox process of 4-pyridyl hydroquinone (4PHQ) self-assembled monolayer (SAM) modified Pt electrode were studied by electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance (EQCM) in situ. It proved that the electrode was modified by a monolayer and underwent a rapid electron transfer. It was a slow adsorbed kinetic process. The ion transfer in the electrochemical redox at the SAM-modified electrode surface mainly involved into the hydrate hydrogen ion.

The proton-translocating NADH:ubiquinone oxidoreductase (complex I) has been purified from Aquifex aeolicus, a hyperthermophilic eubacterium of known genome sequence. The purified detergent solubilized enzyme is highly active above 50 degreesC. The specific activity for electron transfer from NADH to decylubiquinone is 29 U/mg at 80 degreesC. The A. aeolicus complex I is completely sensitive to rotenone and 2-n-decyl-quinazoline-4-yl-amine. SDS polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis shows that it may contain up to 14 subunits. N-terminal amino acid sequencing of the bands indicates the presence of a stable subcomplex, which is composed of subunits E, F, and G. The isolated complex is highly stable and active in a temperature range from 50 to 90 degreesC, with a half-life of about 10 h at 80 degreesC. The activity shows a linear Arrhenius plot at 50-85 degreesC with an activation energy at 31.92 J/mol K. Single particle electron microscopy shows that the A. aeolicus complex I has the typical L-shape. However, visual inspection of averaged images reveals many more details in the external arm of the complex than has been observed for complex I from other sources. In addition, the angle (90degrees) between the cytoplasmic peripheral arm and the membrane intrinsic arm of the complex appears to be invariant.

本文由两部分组成,一部分是关于一组新型除草剂(K-15,K-23)的抑制特性及作用位点的研究;另一部分是关于碳酸氢盐对细胞色素b-559高电势的保护作用的研究。 在第一部分,我们首先研究了抑制剂K-23对Psn放氧活性、DCIP光还原和可变荧光等光合特性的影响。研究发现,K-23在低浓度时刺激放氧活性,而在相对高浓度时抑制放氧活性。但是,K-23在低浓度时却有效地抑制了可变荧光。这些数据表明了新型抑制剂的抑制反应是基于氧化还原作用而不是猝灭作用。此外,通过采用胰蛋白酶消化类囊体膜的方式初步检测了新型抑制剂的作用部位,其结果表明:虽然新型抑制剂抑制受体侧电子传递,但它的抑制部位与DCMU不同。 其次,研究了新型抑制剂对光系统II色素蛋白复合体与多肽组分的影响及抑制剂的键合蛋白。应用SDS-PAGE技术,发现新型抑制剂主要作用于光系统II的反应中心蛋白。用温和的Deriphat-PAGE分析也证实了新型抑制剂作用于核心复合物,导致核心复合物二聚体消失。 进一步用SDS-PAGE分析新型抑制剂对Psn多肽组分的影响,发现新型抑制剂主要影响D.、D2、CP43和CP47。用荧光发射的方法确定了K-15键合在D2蛋白上。 最后,结合荧光动力学和HPLC方法,分别从定性和定量的角度,以核心复合物以及抑制剂存在下从BBY中分离的核心复合物为研究对象,详细研究了抑制剂对QA的取代作用。研究发现,在无去垢剂或低浓度去垢剂存在情况下,由于不能创造出适合于QA存在的疏水环境,我们没有得到QA被K-15取代的实验证据。而在抑制剂K-15存在下,用2.2% HTG从BBY分离的核心复合物的实验中,检测不到正的可变荧光Fv,而是得到了降低的FM,这个结果表明QA已被抑制剂在它的作用位点处所取代。 在第二部分,研究了pH5.0—7.0范围内碳酸氢盐对Cyt b-559氧化还原状态转变的影响。首先研究了pH5.0~7.0条件下碳酸氢盐对PSII Cyt b-559还原减氧化差异吸收光谱的影响,发现铁氰化钾还原的PSII Cyt b-559 HP的含量随介质pH值的降低而减少。然而,碳酸氢盐的加入阻止了由于介质pH降低而引起的Cyt b-559由高电势向低电势的转化。比如,当样品温育在pH5.0的介质中,铁氰化钾还原的Cyt b-559 HP含量占总量的25%-30%,当介质中加入2mmol/L碳酸氢盐后Cyt b-559 HP的含量上升,占总量的50%-56%。碳酸氢盐效应对氢醌还原的Cyt b-559HP含量的影响尤为显著。pH6.5时碳酸氢盐对Cyt b-559的还原氧化状态的影响不显著。其次,分别研究了PSII经Tris处理去除锰簇和三个外周蛋白及NH20H处理去除锰簇和17 kDa和23 kDa后,碳酸氢盐对Cytb一559 HP影响的pH依赖值,发现不论在pH5.0还是pH6.5的介质中碳酸氢盐效应都不存在。 综合以上实验结果,我们认为碳酸氢盐对酸化引起的Cyt b-559氧化还原状态的影响与它和锰的作用有关,但也不能排除钙离子与碳酸氢盐之间的协同作用。

A novel multi-cell device made of organic glass was designed to study morphological and physiological characteristics of Microcystis population trapped in simulated sediment conditions. Changes of colonial morphology and antioxidant activities of the population were observed and measured over the range of 31-day incubation. During the incubation, the antioxidant enzyme activities fluctuated significantly in sediment environments. The activities of catalase (CAT), glutathione peroxidase (GPx) and malondialdehyde (NIDA) reached the highest on the 11(th) day, 6(th) day and 6(th) day. respectively, and then dropped down remarkably in the following days. The ratios of Fv/Fm and the maximal electron transfer rate (ETRm) declined during the initial days (1 similar to 11(th) day), but rebounded on the 16(th) day, which were consistent with the variations of total protein. In the end of incubation. gas vacuoles were hard]), observed and the gelatinous sheath was partly disappeared in the population of Microcystis. Nevertheless, the remaining populations. upon transferred to culture medium, were able to grow though experiencing a longer lag phase of nine days. The results indicated that the sediment environments were able to cause negative effects on M. aeruginosa cells. The cells, however, responded to against the possible damage afterwards. It is thus proposed the acute responses in the population during the early stage of sedimentation could be of importance in aiding the long-term survivor of Microcystis and recruitment in lake sediments. The present study also demonstrated the utility of the device in simulating the sediment environments for further investigation.

A vipp1 mutant of Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803 could not be completely segregated under either mixotrophic or heterotrophic conditions. A vipp1 gene with a copper-regulated promoter (P-petE-vipp1) was integrated into a neutral platform in the genome of the merodiploid mutant. The copper-induced expression of P-petE-vipp1 allowed a complete segregation of the vipp1 mutant and observation of the phenotype of Synechocystis 6803 with different levels of vesicle-inducing protein in plastids 1 (Vipp1). When P-petE-vipp1 was turned off by copper deprivation, Synechocystis lost Vipp1 and photosynthetic activity almost simultaneously, and at a later stage, thylakoid membranes and cell viability. The photosystem II (PSII)-mediated electron transfer was much more rapidly reduced than the PSI-mediated electron transfer. By testing a series of concentrations, we found that P-petE-vipp1 cells grown in medium with 0.025 mu M Cu2+ showed no reduction of thylakoid membranes, but greatly reduced photosynthetic activity and viability. These results suggested that in contrast to a previous report, the loss of photosynthetic activity may not have been due to the loss of thylakoid membranes, but may have been caused more directly by the loss of Vipp1 in Synechocystis 6803.

In order to gain insight into the bloom sustainment of colonial Microcystis aeruginosa Katz., physiological characterizations were undertaken in this study. Compared with unicellular Microcystis, colonial Microcystis phenotypes exhibited a higher maximum photosynthetic rate (Pm), a higher maximum electron transfer rate (ETRmax), higher phycocyanin content, and a higher affinity for inorganic carbon (K-0.5 DIC <= 8.4 +/- 0.7 mu M) during the growth period monitored in this study. This suggests that photosynthetic efficiency is a dominant physiological adaptation found in colonial Microcystis, thus promoting bloom sustainment. In addition, the high content of soluble and total carbohydrates in colonial Microcystis suggests that this phenotype may possess a higher ability to tolerate enhanced stress conditions when compared to unicellular (noncolonial) phenotypes. Therefore, high photosynthetic activities and high tolerance abilities may explain the bloom sustainment of colonial Microcystis in eutrophic lakes.

We report electroluminescence in hybrid ZnO and conjugated polymer poly[2-methoxy-5-(3', 7'-dimethyloctyloxy)-1,4-phenylenevinylene] (MDMO-PPV) bulk heterojuriction photovoltaic cells. Photolummescence quenching experimental results indicate that the ultra,fast photoinduced electron transfer occurs from MDMO-PPV to ZnO under illumination. The ultrafast photoinduced electron transfer effect is induced because ZnO has an electron affinity about 1.2 eV greater than that of MDMO-PPV. Electron 'back transfer' can occur if the interfacial barrier between ZnO and MDMO-PPV can be overcome by applying a substantial electric field. Therefore, electroluminescence action due to the fact that the back transfer effect can be observed in the ZnO:MDMO-PPV devices since a forward bias is applied. The photovoltaic and electroluminescence actions in the same ZnO:MDMO-PPV device can be induced by different injection ways: photoinjection and electrical injection. The devices are expected to provide an opportunity for dual functionality devices with photovoltaic effect and electroluminescence character.

A hierarchical equations of motion formalism for a quantum dissipation system in a grand canonical bath ensemble surrounding is constructed on the basis of the calculus-on-path-integral algorithm, together with the parametrization of arbitrary non-Markovian bath that satisfies fluctuation-dissipation theorem. The influence functionals for both the fermion or boson bath interaction are found to be of the same path integral expression as the canonical bath, assuming they all satisfy the Gaussian statistics. However, the equation of motion formalism is different due to the fluctuation-dissipation theories that are distinct and used explicitly. The implications of the present work to quantum transport through molecular wires and electron transfer in complex molecular systems are discussed. (c) 2007 American Institute of Physics.

We present a strain-compensated InP-based InGaAs/InAlAs photovoltaic quantum cascade detector grown by solid source molecular beam epitaxy. The detector is based on a vertical intersubband transition and electron transfer on a cascade of quantum levels which is designed to provide longitudinal optical phonon extraction stairs. By careful structure design and growth, the whole epilayer has a residual strain toward InP substrate of only -2.8 x 10(-4). A clear narrow band detection spectrum centered at 4.5 mu m has been observed above room temperature for a device with 200 x 200 mu m(2) square mesa.

A numerical analysis of a quantum directional coupler based on Pi-shaped electron waveguides is presented with use of the scattering-matrix method. After the optimization of the device parameters, uniform output for the two output ports and high directivity are obtained within a wide range of the electron momenta. The electron transfer in the device is found more efficient than that in the previously proposed structures. The study of the shape-dependence of transmission for the device shows that the device structure with smooth boundaries exhibits a much better performance.

PbS clusters in zeolite-Y have been prepared with the reaction of Pb2+-ion-exchanged zeolite-Y with Na2S in solution at room temperature. Their absorption spectra show dramatic blue shifts from that of the bulk PbS. Obvious change of both the absorption edges and peak positions upon PbS concentrations have been observed. These phenomena provide evidences that PbS clusters have been formed within the zeolite. The absorption spectra show featureless structure and have no tails near the absorption edges. As the PbS loading density becomes higher, the absorption bands become stronger and sharpen. Order PbS clusters lattice with high quality might be formed in the supercages of zeolite-Y. The collisions of the isocharged sequence ions of q=6 (C6+, N6+, O6+, F6+, Ne6+, Ar6+, and Ca6+), q=7 (F7+, Ne7+, S7+, Ar7+, and Ca7+), q=8 (F8+, Ne8+, Ar8+, and Ca8+), q=9 (F9+, Ne9+, Si9+, S9+, Ar9+, and Ca9+) and q=11 (Si11+, Ar11+, and Ca11+) with helium at the same velocities were investigated. The cross-section ratios of the double-electron transfer (DET) to the single-electron capture (SEC) sigma(DET)/sigma(SEC) and the true double-electron capture (TDC) to the double-electron transfer sigma(TDC)/sigma(DET) were measured. It shows that for different ions in an isocharged sequence, the experimental cross-section ratio sigma(DET)/sigma(SEC) varies by a factor of 3. The results confirm that the projectile core is another dominant factor besides the charge state and the collision velocity in slow (0.35-0.49v(0); v(0) denotes the Bohr velocity) highly charged ions (HCIs) with helium collisions. The experimental cross-section ratio sigma(DET)/sigma(SEC) is compared with the extended classical over-barrier model (ECBM) [A. Barany , Nucl. Instrum. Methods Phys. Res. B 9, 397 (1985)], the molecular Coulombic barrier model (MCBM) [A. Niehaus, J. Phys. B 19, 2925 (1986)], and the semiempirical scaling laws (SSL) [N. Selberg , Phys. Rev. A 54, 4127 (1996)]. It also shows that the projectile core properties affect the initial capture probabilities as well as the subsequent relaxation of the projectiles. The experimental cross-section ratio sigma(TDC)/sigma(DET) for those lower isocharged sequences is dramatically affected by the projectile core structure, while for those sufficiently highly isocharged sequences, the autoionization always dominates, hence the cross-section ratio sigma(TDC)/sigma(DET) is always small.

本工作采用反冲离子飞行时间技术和散射离子位置灵敏探测技术测量了F~(2+)、F~(3+)离子与He原子和Ne原子碰撞中转移电离截面与单电子俘获截面比和入射离子损失一个电子情况下靶原子多重电离与单重电离的截面比。研究了这些截面比随作用强度κ的变化规律,并对不同的碰撞体系进行了比较,总结了强相互作用区(1.4 < κ < 4.4) F~(2+)、F~(3+)离子与He和Ne原子碰撞中的转移电离过程和入射离子电子损失过程的规律。实验发现:(1)对本工作中所有的碰撞体系,转移电离截面与单电子俘获截面比随作用强度κ的增大而减小;(2)对He原子靶,入射离子损失一个电子时He原子二重电离与单重电离的截面比随作用强度κ的增大而减小;(3)对于Ne原子靶,入射离子损失一个电子时Ne原子四重电离、三重电离、二重电离截面与单重电离截面比随作用强度κ有不同的变化规律。本工作对于上述实验现象进行了定性分析和讨论。在本实验能区,转移电离现象可视作一个电子被俘获、另一个电子被电离的两步过程;当入射离子损失一个电子时,He原子二重电离的主要机制为Two-Step机制,而Ne原子的多重电离则为Two-Step机制和随后的电子重组过程的共同作用的结果。深入研究强相互作用区离子一原子碰撞过程,还需要积更多的实验数据和发展有效的理论模型。

Spherical gold nanoparticles (3-5 nm) undergo a surprising fragmentation without extra energy imput and are converted into ultrasmall particles (less than 1.5 nm), which is a direct result of electron transfer between gold nanoparticles and cysteine.
