In this paper, we focus on a Riemann–Hilbert boundary value problem (BVP) with a constant coefficients for the poly-Hardy space on the real unit ball in higher dimensions. We first discuss the boundary behaviour of functions in the poly-Hardy class. Then we construct the Schwarz kernel and the higher order Schwarz operator to study Riemann–Hilbert BVPs over the unit ball for the poly- Hardy class. Finally, we obtain explicit integral expressions for their solutions. As a special case, monogenic signals as elements in the Hardy space over the unit sphere will be reconstructed in the case of boundary data given in terms of functions having values in a Clifford subalgebra. Such monogenic signals represent the generalization of analytic signals as elements of the Hardy space over the unit circle of the complex plane.

We give a necessary and sufficient condition for a sequence [ak}k in the unit ball of C° to be interpolating for the class A~°° of holomorphic functions with polynomial growth. The condition, which goes along the lines of the ones given by Berenstein and Li for some weighted spaces of entire functions and by Amar for H°° functions in the ball, is given in terms of the derivatives of m > n functions F Fm e A~°° vanishing on {ak)k.

A collection of spherical obstacles in the unit ball in Euclidean space is said to be avoidable for Brownian motion if there is a positive probability that Brownian motion diffusing from some point in the ball will avoid all the obstacles and reach the boundary of the ball. The centres of the spherical obstacles are generated according to a Poisson point process while the radius of an obstacle is a deterministic function. If avoidable configurations are generated with positive probability Lundh calls this percolation diffusion. An integral condition for percolation diffusion is derived in terms of the intensity of the point process and the function that determines the radii of the obstacles.

The Lempert function for a set of poles in a domain of Cn at a point z is obtained by taking a certain infimum over all analytic disks going through the poles and the point z, and majorizes the corresponding multi-pole pluricomplex Green function. Coman proved that both coincide in the case of sets of two poles in the unit ball. We give an example of a set of three poles in the unit ball where this equality fails.

In this Licentiate thesis we investigate the absolute ratio δ, j, ˜j and hyperbolic ρ metrics and their relations with each other. Various growth estimates are given for quasiconformal mpas both in plane and space. Some Hölder constants were refined with respect δ, j ˜j metrics. Some new results regarding the Hölder continuity of quasiconformal and quasiregular mapping of unit ball with respect to Euclidean and hyperbolic metrics are given, which were obtained by many authors in 1980’s. Applications are given to the study of metric space, quasiconformal and quasiregular maps in the plane and as well as in the space.

This Ph.D. thesis consists of four original papers. The papers cover several topics from geometric function theory, more specifically, hyperbolic type metrics, conformal invariants, and the distortion properties of quasiconformal mappings. The first paper deals mostly with the quasihyperbolic metric. The main result gives the optimal bilipschitz constant with respect to the quasihyperbolic metric for the M¨obius self-mappings of the unit ball. A quasiinvariance property, sharp in a local sense, of the quasihyperbolic metric under quasiconformal mappings is also proved. The second paper studies some distortion estimates for the class of quasiconformal self-mappings fixing the boundary values of the unit ball or convex domains. The distortion is measured by the hyperbolic metric or hyperbolic type metrics. The results provide explicit, asymptotically sharp inequalities when the maximal dilatation of quasiconformal mappings tends to 1. These explicit estimates involve special functions which have a crucial role in this study. In the third paper, we investigate the notion of the quasihyperbolic volume and find the growth estimates for the quasihyperbolic volume of balls in a domain in terms of the radius. It turns out that in the case of domains with Ahlfors regular boundaries, the rate of growth depends not merely on the radius but also on the metric structure of the boundary. The topic of the fourth paper is complete elliptic integrals and inequalities. We derive some functional inequalities and elementary estimates for these special functions. As applications, some functional inequalities and the growth of the exterior modulus of a rectangle are studied.

We provide bounds on the upper box-counting dimension of negatively invariant subsets of Banach spaces, a problem that is easily reduced to covering the image of the unit ball under a linear map by a collection of balls of smaller radius. As an application of the abstract theory we show that the global attractors of a very broad class of parabolic partial differential equations (semilinear equations in Banach spaces) are finite-dimensional. We study Hardy spaces on the boundary of a smooth open subset or R-n and prove that they can be defined either through the intrinsic maximal function or through Poisson integrals, yielding identical spaces. This extends to any smooth open subset of R-n results already known for the unit ball. As an application, a characterization of the weak boundary values of functions that belong to holomorphic Hardy spaces is given, which implies an F. and M. Riesz type theorem. (C) 2004 Elsevier B.V. Multivariate orthogonal polynomials associated with a Sobolev-type inner product, that is, an inner product defined by adding to a measure the evaluation of the gradients in a fixed point, are studied. Orthogonal polynomials and kernel functions associated with this new inner product can be explicitly expressed in terms of those corresponding with the original measure. We apply our results to the particular case of the classical orthogonal polynomials on the unit ball, and we obtain the asymptotics of the kernel functions. © 2011 Universidad de Jaén.

[EN] As is well known, in any infinite-dimensional Banach space one may find fixed point free self-maps of the unit ball, retractions of the unit ball onto its boundary, contractions of the unit sphere, and nonzero maps without positive eigenvalues and normalized eigenvectors. In this paper, we give upper and lower estimates, or even explicit formulas, for the minimal Lipschitz constant and measure of noncompactness of such maps.

It is well known that quantum correlations for bipartite dichotomic measurements are those of the form (Formula presented.), where the vectors ui and vj are in the unit ball of a real Hilbert space. In this work we study the probability of the nonlocal nature of these correlations as a function of (Formula presented.), where the previous vectors are sampled according to the Haar measure in the unit sphere of (Formula presented.). In particular, we prove the existence of an (Formula presented.) such that if (Formula presented.), (Formula presented.) is nonlocal with probability tending to 1 as (Formula presented.), while for (Formula presented.), (Formula presented.) is local with probability tending to 1 as (Formula presented.).
