In this paper we discuss and present the first results gathered from the compilation of a learner corpus comprised of texts written by university students (Language, Literature and Translation Course). We made use of Corpus Linguistics and observations of researchers from the learner’s corpus field, in order to compile and analyze a corpus of argumentative and descriptive texts written in Spanish. Four hundred compositions were collected (about 120 thousand words) from August 2011 to December 2012. The methodology adopted assisted us considerably in maintaining a comprehensive working agenda, taking into consideration students’ needs and using the data collected as subsidy to improve classroom management of content. We also present the difficulties faced during the data gathering and propose procedures do avoid or minimize them.

Validar la aplicación del programa de educación artística. Ayudar a los alumnos y alumnas a leer mensajes visuales. Dar pautas para visitar museos. Desarrollar el espíritu crítico y analítico. Superar estereotipos. Explorar técnicas y materiales. Utilizar la observación de obras de arte como fuente de documentación. Ampliar el vocabulario plástico. La muestra se compuso de 49 profesores en formación. Se utilizaron variables numéricas y variables dicotómicas. Como instrumentos se utilizaron análisis estadísticos tales como análisis paramétricos y no paramétricos y test de Wilcoxon y McNemar. Pruebas pretest y posttest, técnica intrasujeto y desarrollo de un programa didáctico. Se consiguió asimilar teórica y prácticamente el léxico plástico tanto alfabeto como sintaxis plástica. Se potenció el estudio de técnicas plásticas e investigación, y por último se obtuvo una relación positiva con el arte del siglo XX. El hecho de conocer la biografía artística de un pintor nos permite profundizar más en algunos aspectos de sus obras, y acceder a su espacio. Los conceptos del léxico plástico no fueron identificados hasta después de utilizar el programa didáctico, fruto de un aprendizaje de metodología de análisis. El estudio de las técnicas plásticas y su utilización nos ha permitido extraer las posibilidades expresivas del artista. Estas pautas sirven para cualquier artista o pintor del siglo XX.

This study aimed to gather information about the social and linguistic reality of students 1. years of elementary school and community that came, in order to identify aspects of their lexical phonological levels, morphological and morphosyntactic and thus identify and describe the alternative variants of non-standard rule. The methodology chosen was that of variational sociolinguistics addressing quantitative and qualitative aspects in the treatment of the data collected through participant observation and audio recordings of speeches of the students. The results indicate that the level of phonological variants are the most frequent in the speech of students. Because the literacy phase, how the student speaks serves you a guide to the act of writing, so it is necessary to work with the students the difference between oral and written form and monitoring of these two modes according to the context of the discourse

This paper presents the analysis and the methodological procedures adopted in order to compile a parallel corpus comprised of two short stories by David Roas (2007; 2010), originally written in Spanish “Tránsito” and “Das Kapital”, and their translation into Portuguese carried out both by a native speaker of Spanish (fluent in Portuguese) and a native speaker of Portuguese (fluent in Spanish). We analyzed the texts translated by them, focusing on the most frequent vocabulary and its semantic implications on their respective contexts. The theoretical and methodological approach was based on corpus linguistics, corpus based translation studies (BAKER, 1996; HUNSTON, 2002; LAVIOSA, 2002; BERBER SARDINHA, 2004; MEYER, 2004; OLOHAN, 2004) and some concepts from Fantastic Literature (ROAS, 2001, 2011; TODOROV, 2003; ALAZRAKI, 2001). The data were extracted by using the WordSmith Tools Suite®. Results show that dialogue and focus on lexicon, making use of computer corpus, play an important role in understanding the translation process. It is also important to mention that while exploring translation possibilities presented by the two translators this approach unlocked a window to reflect on translation pedagogy based on corpus.
