Tuotemallin ylläpito- ja pienkehitysprosessin kehittäminen

Työn tavoitteena oli selvittää yrityksen tuotekehitysorganisaation tuoteylläpitotoiminnan nykytila ja kartoittaa sen mahdolliset ongelmakohdat sekä kehityskohteet. Lisäksi tavoitteena oli vertailla yrityksen toimintamalleja toisen yrityksen vastaavaan organisaatioon kartoitettujen ongelmakohtien pohjalta, ja laatia kehitysehdotus ongelmien ratkaisemiseksi. Tutkimusmenetelminä käytettiin nykytilaselvityksessä semistrukturoituja asiantuntijahaastatteluja ja vertailututkimusta (engl. benchmarking). Kehitysehdotuksen laatimisen tueksi työhön sisältyi myös kirjallisuuskatsaus, jossa käsiteltiin esimerkiksi tuotteen elinkaarenhallintaa, konfiguraationhallintaa ja prosessijohtamista. Nykytilaselvityksen tuloksena oli kuvaus yrityksen tuoteylläpidontoiminnasta sekä havaituista ongelmakohdista. Vertailututkimuksen tuloksena saatiin kuvaus kohdeyrityksen kartoitettuihin ongelmakohtiin liittyvistä toimintamalleista, sekä joitain ratkaisuvaihtoehtoja. Nykytilaselvityksen ja vertailututkimuksen tulosten sekä kirjallisuuskatsauksen perusteella laadittu kehitysehdotus perustuu konfiguraationhallintasuunnitelman pohjaan, johon on sisällytetty kaikki ratkaisuehdotukset. Kehitysehdotuksessa esitetyt ratkaisuehdotukset vastaavat lähtökohtaisesti kartoitettuihin ongelmakohtiin, mutta ne vaativat vielä jatkokehittelyä. Työn tulokset toimivat pohjana yksityiskohtaisemmalle suunnittelulle ja jatkokehittelylle.

Experimental Chagas` disease in orchiectomized Calomys callosus infected with the CM strain of Trypanosoma cruzi

The incidence and progression of disorders associated with an unbalanced immune response has among many factors the gender as a contributory factor. The aims of this work were to evaluate the effects of orchiectomy and the immune response during the experimental Trypanosoma cruzi infection. Young adult, male Calomys callous were i.p. inoculated with 1 x 10(5) blood trypomastigotes of the CM strain of T. cruzi and divided in groups: Control, Sham and Castrated. Castrated group displayed significantly lower values for prostate and seminal vesicle weights indicating a drastic drop of testosterone plasmatic levels. Orchiectomized animals also displayed lesser number of blood parasites, enhanced lytic antibody percentage, splenocyte proliferation and NO concentration when compared to its sham and control counterparts, indicating that steroid gonadal ablation actually influences immune response triggering a more efficient cellular and humoral response which led animals to become more resistant against T cruzi infection. Improved constraints on possible variation of physical constants from HI 21-cm and molecular QSO absorption lines

Quasar (QSO) absorption spectra provide an extremely useful probe of possible cosmological variation in various physical constants. Comparison of H i 21-cm absorption with corresponding molecular (rotational) absorption spectra allows us to constrain variation in , where α is the fine-structure constant and gp is the proton g-factor. We analyse spectra of two QSOs, PKS 1413+135 and TXS 0218+357, and derive values of at absorption redshifts of and 0.6847 by simultaneous fitting of the H i 21-cm and molecular lines. We find and respectively, indicating an insignificantly smaller y in the past. We compare our results with other constraints from the same two QSOs given recently by Drinkwater et al. and Carilli et al., and with our recent optical constraints, which indicated a smaller α at higher redshifts.

Novel murine myeloid cell lines that exhibit a differentiation switch in response to IL-3 or GM-CSF, or to different constitutively active mutants of the CM-CSF receptor beta subunit

Several activating mutations have recently been described in the common beta subunit for the human interleukin(IL)-3, IL-5, and granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) receptors (h beta c), Two of these, FI Delta and 1374N, result, respectively, in a 37-amino acid duplication and an isoleucine-to-asparagine substitution in the extracellular domain. A third, V449E, leads to valine-to-glutamic acid substitution in the transmembrane domain. Previous studies have shown that when expressed in murine hemopoietic cells in vitro, the extracellular mutants can confer factor independence on only the granulocyte-macrophage lineage while the transmembrane mutant can do so to all cell types of the myeloid and erythroid compartments. To further study the signaling properties of the constitutively active hpc mutants, we have used novel murine hemopoietic cell lines, which we describe in this report. These lines, FDB1 and FDB2, proliferate in murine IL-3 and undergo granulocyte-macrophage differentiation in response to murine GM-CSF, We find that while the transmembrane mutant, V449E, confers factor-independent proliferation on these cell lines, the extracellular hpc mutants promote differentiation. Hence, in addition to their ability to confer factor independence on distinct cell types, transmembrane and extracellular activated h beta c mutants deliver distinct signals to the same cell type. Thus, the FDB cell lines, in combination with activated h beta c mutants, constitute a powerful new system to distinguish between signals that determine hemopoietic proliferation or differentiation. Eddy current effects on a clinical 7T-68 cm bore scanner.

INTRODUCTION: Eddy currents induced by switching of magnetic field gradients can lead to distortions in short echo-time spectroscopy or diffusion weighted imaging. In small bore magnets, such as human head-only systems, minimization of eddy current effects is more demanding because of the proximity of the gradient coil to conducting structures. METHODS: In the present study, the eddy current behavior achievable on a recently installed 7 tesla-68 cm bore head-only magnet was characterized. RESULTS: Residual effects after compensation were shown to be on the same order of magnitude as those measured on two whole body systems (3 and 4.7 T), while using two to three fold increased gradient slewrates.
