The present work analyses, under an anthropologic perspective, each one of the phases of the rites of passage lived by the protagonists of Guimarães Rosa’s Campo geral and Mia Couto’s Terra sonâmbula, trying to track in these texts the elements related to the traditional societies’ culture and trying to identify the meaning of the mentioned elements in the specific context of the authors. The two writers mix these primitive components with the regional culture and therefore achieve, starting also from the local representations, to reach a universal extent.

The text analyses the way in which regionalism, centered in the representation of social and human relations and related to universalism, has been applied to Guimarães Rosa and the way in which it appears nowadays in the work of Ronaldo Correia de Brito. This aim is pursued by means of reflections on the survival of the expression regionalism, its application to the work of Guimarães Rosa – especially in one composition of Tutameia – and its contemporary reappearance in a short story by Correia de Brito.

This paper analyzes the short story "Intruge-se" within the book Tutameia (1967) from the brazilian writer João Guimarães Rosa. We shall approach the relation between the main character and a mystery involving a murder he decides to solve. The tale reveals a twofold perspective, that allows, not just bare reading, but a meditation about the human nature. We will tour the tale with thorough look and proposed to find, in the intricacies of writing rosiana, the multiple meanings that involve the actions and choices of the main character and how, through them, the author seeks to represent one of the most pressing questions of humanity. We intend to show how the aesthetic element acts in the formation of the individual, providing in addition to an objective experience of leisure, also a spontaneous learning ability which inexcusably enforces the reader's restlessness and need to reflect. This work is an observation about the story and what makes it what it is. Guimarães Rosa traces this story about subjectivity worlds, worlds that involve a context that triggers the story, which want to refer the reader out of it, which provides a spiral, by nature of its form, the most varied questions about the actions and feelings humans. The experiences with this observation, as well as those arising from variations, resulting in a rich learning, in that it enables and habituate critical eye, doubt and reflection. With that purpose, literature functions as a learning gear, according to what is sustained by Antonio Candido.

Affiliated with a literary context in which the poet seeks reconciliation between the self and the universe without rejecting the consciousness of the poetic process and the renovation of language, the poems of Guimarães Rosa in his book Ave, Palavra, are close to what Octavio Paz called "poetry of convergence." Such analogical point of view turns into metaphor in the poems through the myth of Narcissus and images that associate a reflexion and the meeting with the Other as a way to know yourself. This work presents a reading of these poetic compositions by examining how the analogy is established, relating those poems to his other works, identifying them, not as an accident in his trajetory, but as a work that carries Guimarães Rosa’s concerns explored in his literary career.

This paper is divided into three chapters, which are structured as follows: in the first chapter, we examine the figure of death and its characteristics in the context of the work of Guimarães Rosa, within a specific type, determining how this figure comes through " imposition "," no "," memory "and" ritual. " We intend to cover all the possibilities that this aspect denotes. In the second chapter, we found the incidence of the mirror as an analysis of our study, characterizing it as a stylistic condition can become a reading key, necessary for interpretation of the book "First Stories". The characterization of the mirror as an element of analysis has a theoretical foundation which stretches out along other literary works that are based on the same object. By setting the points where these works approach the theories of speculation, we want to justify their use from our perspective
