Franck-Condon simuation of photoelectron spentroscopy of HOO- and DOO-: including Duschinsky effects
Resumo:
Geometry optimization and harmonic vibrational frequency calculations have been performed on the (X) over bar (2)A(1) state of NO2 and (X) over bar (1)A(1) state of NO2-. Franck-Condon analyses and spectral simulations were carried out on the NO2((X) over bar (2)A(1))-NO2-((X) over bar (1)A(1)) photo detachment process. In addition, the equilibrium geometry parameters, r(NO)= 1.248 +/- 0.005 Angstrom and angle(ONO) 116.8 +/- 0.5degrees, of the (X) over bar (1)A(1) state of NO2-, are derived by employing an iterative Franck-Condon analysis procedure in the spectral simulation. Our conclusions regarding the anion geometry suggest a reinterpretation of the results of Woo et al. (C) 2004 Published by Elsevier B.V.

A theoretical method to calculate multidimensional Franck-Condon factors including Duschinsky effects is described and used to simulate the photoelectron spectra of HCF- and CF2- radicals. Geometry optimization and harmonic vibrational frequency calculations have been performed on the (X) over tilde (1)A' state of HCF and (X) over tilde (2)A" state of HCF-, and (X) over tilde (1)A(1) state of CF2 and (X) over tilde B-2(1) state of CF2-. Franck-Condon analyses and spectral simulation were carried out on the first photoelectron band of HCF- and CF2- respectively. The theoretical spectra obtained by employing B3LYP/6-311 + G(2d,p) values are in excellent agreement with the observed ones. In addition, the equilibrium geometry parameters, R(CF) = 0.1475 +/- 0.0005 nm, of the (X) over tilde (2)A" state of HCF-, and r(FC) = 0.1425 +/- 0.0005 nm and angle(FCF) = 100.5 +/- 0.5degrees, of the (X) over tilde B-2(i) state of CF2-, are derived by employing an iterative Franck-Condon analysis procedure in the spectral simulation. A theoretical method to calculate multidimensional Franck-Condon factors including Duschinsky effects is described and used to simulate the photoelectron spectrum of the anion SO. Geometry optimizations and harmonic vibrational frequency calculations have been performed on the XA(1) state of SO2 and (XB1)-B-2 state of SO2. Franck-Condon analyses and spectral simulation were carried out on the first photoelectron band of SO2. The theoretical spectra obtained by employing CCSD(T)/6-31 I+G(2d,p) values are in excellent agreement with the experiment. In addition, the equilibrium geometric parameters, r(c)(OS) = 0.1508 +/- 0.0005 nm and theta(e)(O-S-0) = 113.5 +/- 0.5 degrees, of the (XB1)-B-2 state of SO2, are derived by employing an iterative Franck-Condon analysis procedure in the spectral simulation. The equivalence of two ways for the calculation of overlap integrals, i.e. the Sharp Rosenstock generating function method and the Doktorov coherent state method, has been proved. On the basis of the generating function of the overlap integrals, a new closed form expression for the Franck - Condon integrals for overlap multidimensional harmonic oscillators has been exactly derived. In addition, some useful analytical expressions for the calculations of the multimode Franck - Condon factors have been given.
A variational approach for calculating Franck-Condon factors including mode-mode anharmonic coupling
Resumo:
We have implemented our new procedure for computing Franck-Condon factors utilizing vibrational configuration interaction based on a vibrational self-consistent field reference. Both Duschinsky rotations and anharmonic three-mode coupling are taken into account. Simulations of the first ionization band of Cl O2 and C4 H4 O (furan) using up to quadruple excitations in treating anharmonicity are reported and analyzed. A developer version of the MIDASCPP code was employed to obtain the required anharmonic vibrational integrals and transition frequencies

Our new simple method for calculating accurate Franck-Condon factors including nondiagonal (i.e., mode-mode) anharmonic coupling is used to simulate the C2H4+X2B 3u←C2H4X̃1 Ag band in the photoelectron spectrum. An improved vibrational basis set truncation algorithm, which permits very efficient computations, is employed. Because the torsional mode is highly anharmonic it is separated from the other modes and treated exactly. All other modes are treated through the second-order perturbation theory. The perturbation-theory corrections are significant and lead to a good agreement with experiment, although the separability assumption for torsion causes the C2 D4 results to be not as good as those for C2 H4. A variational formulation to overcome this circumstance, and deal with large anharmonicities in general, is suggested

Extensions to the code MULTIMODE to obtain rovibrational wave functions and properties are described. An application of these new capabilities is made to a calculation of the Franck-Condon factors for photoionization of CF3 to CF3+. These calculations make use of a new, full-dimensional ab initio potential energy surface, which is also described here.

Neutral C3O has been prepared by collision induced neutralisation of the precursor radical anion formed by the reaction C-=C-CO-OEt --> C3O-. +EtO. . The similar neutralisaaion reionisation (-NR+) and charge reversal (CR) spectra of C3O-. indicate that the potential surfaces of C3O and C3O+. show favourable vertical Franck-Condon overlap, This suggests that the bond connectivities of anion, neutral and cation C3O are the same. Computations at the RCCSD(T)/aug-cc-pVDZ//B3LYP/6-31G* level of theory indicate that neutral C6CO is a stable species. The ground state of this neutral is the singlet cumulene oxide :C=C=C=C=C=C=C=O. The adiabatic electron affinity and dipole moment of singlet C6CO are 2.47 eV and 4.13 D, respectively, at this level of theory. The anion (C6CO)(-.) should be a possible precursor to this neutral. It has been formed by an unequivocal synthesis in the ion source of a mass spectrometer by the S(N)2(Si) reaction between (CH3)(3)Si-C=C-C=C-C=C-CO-CMe3 and F- to form C-=C-C=C-C=C-CO-CMe3 which loses Me3C in the source to form C6CO-.. Charge stripping of this anion by vertical Franck-Condon oxidation forms C6CO, characterised by the neutralisation-reionisation spectrum (-NR+) of C6CO-., which is stable during the timeframe of this experiment (10(-6) s), Copyright (C) 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

The dicoordinated borinium ion, dihydroxyborinium, B(OH)(2)(+) is generated from methyl boronic acid CH3B(OH)(2) by dissociative electron ionization and its connectivity confirmed by collisional activation. Neutralization-reionization (NR) experiments on this ion indicate that the neutral B(OH)(2) radical is a viable species in the gas phase. Both vertical neutralization of B(OH)(2)(+) and reionization of B(OH)(2) in the NR experiment are, however, associated with particularly unfavorable Franck-Condon factors. The differences in adiabatic and vertical electron transfer behavior can be traced back to a particular pi stabilization of the cationic species compared to the sp(2)-type neutral radical. Thermochemical data on several neutral and cationic boron compounds are presented based on calculations performed at the G2 level of theory.

This paper is a modified version of a lecture which describes the synthesis, structure and reactivity of some neutral molecules of stellar significance. The neutrals are formed in the collision cell of a mass spectrometer following vertical Franck-Condon one electron oxidation of anions of known bond connectivity. Neutrals are characterised by conversion to positive ions and by extensive theoretical studies at the CCSD(T)/aug-cc-pVDZ//B3LYP/6-31G(d) level of theory. Four systems are considered in detail, viz (i) the formation of linear C-4 and its conversion to the rhombus C-4, (ii) linear C-5 and the atom scrambling of this system when energised, (iii) the stable cumulene oxide CCCCCO, and (iv) the elusive species O2C-CO. This paper is not intended to be a review of interstellar chemistry: examples are selected from our own work in this area. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science Inc. All rights reserved.
