Objetivo – O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar e medir os determinantes da e-lealdade de um cliente no comércio eletrónico em Portugal. Metodologia – Foi realizado um estudo quantitativo empírico confirmatório e explicativo, a partir da identificação de um modelo teórico, suportado pelo levantamento bibliográfico sobre variáveis latentes, suscetível de investigar as relações entre os determinantes da e-lealdade. Os dados foram recolhidos através de um instrumento de medida, disponível online, o qual, permitiu obter uma amostra válida de 394 respondentes. As hipóteses foram testadas através de um modelo de equações estruturais. Resultados e conclusões – Estudaram-se e comprovaram-se a maioria das relações previstas e hipóteses, nomeadamente, a relação positiva das várias dimensões da e-confiança, e-satisfação e da e-qualidade de serviço na e-lealdade. A e-satisfação e a e-qualidade de serviço apresentam, também, um contributo interessante para a e-confiança que os consumidores têm nos produtos/serviços online. Quanto à e-satisfação dos consumidores foi possível verificar que a mesma apresenta uma variação, de acordo com a e-qualidade de serviço e a e-confiança, por parte dos consumidores online. Foi cumprida a validade convergente e discriminante das escalas de medida e a boa qualidade psicométrica das variáveis. Estas evidenciaram bons níveis de correlação e capacidades preditivas. Limitações/implicações – Os resultados obtidos precisam ser analisados com toda a precaução, não podendo ser objeto de generalizações, face ao uso de uma amostra de conveniência. O facto de os inquiridos avaliarem um website que estão já familiarizados pode constituir uma outra limitação. A ausência de estudos nacionais homólogos teve algumas implicações na discussão dos resultados. Originalidade/valor – O principal contributo deste estudo é constituir o primeiro realizado em Portugal, à data, onde se investigou e estimou um modelo proposto sobre os determinantes e antecedentes da e-lealdade no comércio eletrónico.

Tutkielman tarkoituksena on tutkia yrityksen sisäistä, epävirallista viestintää sekä yrityksen henkilökunnan viestintää erilaissa sosiaalisissa verkostoissa. Viestintää tutkitaan yrityksen markkinointiviestinnän kannalta, maineen ja imagon rakentamisen näkökulmasta. Case –organisaationa tutkimuksessa on Hesburger, Suomen suurin pikaruokaketju. Tutkimuksessa käytetään tiedonkeruumenetelmänä kvalitatiivista teema-haastattelua. Tutkimusongelmia peilataan yleisiin markkinointiviestinnän ja kommunikoinnin teorioihin. Tutkimuksen avulla saatiin selkeä kuva siitä, miten työntekijä toimii organisaation sisäisissä, epävirallisissa viestintätilanteissa ja, miten työntekijä viestii sekä omalla kulutuskäyttäytymisellään että suusannallisesti sosiaalisessa verkostossaan yritykseen liittyvistä asioista. Case -organisaatio toimii työvoimavaltaisella palvelualalla, jossa työntekijöiden rooli viestien välittäjinä on suuri. Koska kyseessä on kuluttajapalveluja tuottava yritys, käy tutkimuksessa ilmi, että sosiaalisissa verkostoissa tapahtuva viestintä on suuressa roolissa yrityksen maineen rakentajana. Yrityksen kannalta on tärkeää tiedostaa erilaisten verkostojen ja yhteisöjen olemassaolo sekä ymmärtää niiden vaikutus imagon muodostumisessa. Sisäisen markkinoinnin sekä suhdemarkkinoinnin keinoin myös epävirallisissa verkostoissa ja yhteisöissä liikkuvaa tietoa voidaan johtaa ja loppukuluttajille tätä kautta välittyvää informaatiota hallita.

Tässä tutkimuksessa tutkittiin neljän suomalaisen pörssilistatun kansainvälisesti toimivan B2B-yrityksen maineenhallintaa sosiaalisessa mediassa. Tutkimuksen tavoitteena oli selvittää miksi, mistä lähtökohdista ja miten suomalaiset B2B-yritykset hallitsevat mainettaan sosiaalisessa mediassa. Yritysten maineenhallinta rajattiin koskemaan yrityksen ulkoisen viestinnän keinoja, joilla yritykset pyrkivät vaikuttamaan maineeseensa. Tutkimus toteutettiin kvalitatiivisena, vertailevana tapaustutkimuksena. Tutkimuksen empiirinen aineisto kerättiin puolistrukturoiduilla teemahaastatteluilla tapausyritysten viestinnän johto- ja asiantuntijatehtävissä työskenteleviltä henkilöiltä. Tutkimus osoitti, että hyvä maine on yrityksille tärkeää aineetonta pääomaa ja sitä voi ja tulee johtaa sekä hallita sosiaalisessa mediassa. B2B-yritykset hallitsevat mainettaan sosiaalisessa mediassa monitoroimalla sosiaalisen media keskusteluja tavoitteenaan suojella yritystä mainekriiseiltä ja tuottamalla tavoitemainekuvansa mukaista sisältöä rakentaakseen itsestään kuvaa vastuullisena ja innovatiivisena yrityksenä sekä hyvänä kumppanina. B2B-yritysten maineenhallinnan käytänteiksi tutkimuksessa tunnistettiin sosiaalisen median monitorointi, keskusteleminen ja sisällöntuotanto, mittaaminen, kriisinhallinta sekä yhteistyönhallinta.

The purpose of this study was to explore the employer brand image and its formation of a Finnish (yet international) service company in B2B sector. In the research qualitative case study method was used to explore the most preferred attributes in employer attraction, the employer brand perceptions towards the case company, and the effectors behind these brand perceptions among the prospective group of employees. The research was conducted through in-depth semistructured interviews among 23-30 undergraduate or graduate business students in Finnish universities close to their graduation. After deriving the attributes of an attractive employer, and exploring their relation to the case company, the employer brand image of the case company was determined and its attractiveness level evaluated. Moreover, the formation of the employer brand image was investigated and its sources detected. The most important factors for the target group in employer attractiveness were found to be company reputation and company culture/work atmosphere. Also career opportunities and international opportunities were seen important. The case company was found to hold a positive, attractive image on company culture and international opportunities, but failing to hold a good reputation as a fair employer. The main and most impactful source of employer brand image was former and current employees - directly or indirectly. Company’s own actions played only small part in employer brand formation as credibility is a critical factor in brand image formation and corporate communication found not to be perceived genuine. Based on the findings, suggestions for further employer branding were made.

In the 1970s, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) was discussed by Nobel laureate Milton Friedman in his article “The Social Responsibility of Business Is to Increase Its Profits.” (Friedman, 1970). His view on CSR was contemptuous as he referred to it as “hypocritical window-dressing” a reflection of the view of Corporate America on CSR back then. For a long time short-term maximization of shareholder value was the only maxim for top management across industries and companies. Over the last decade, CSR has become a more important and relevant factor of a company’s reputation, shifting the discussion from whether CSR is necessary to how best CSR commitments should be done (Smith, 2003). Inevitably, companies do have an environmental, social and economic impact, thereby imposing social costs on current and future generations. In 2013, 50 of the world biggest companies have been responsible for 73 percent of the total carbon dioxide (CO2) emission (Global 500 Climate Change Report 2013). Post et al. (2002) refer to these social costs as a company’s need to retain its “license to operate”. In the late 1990s, CSR reporting was nearly unknown, which drastically changed during the last decade. Allen White, co-founder of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), said that CSR reporting”… has evolved from the extraordinary to the exceptional to the expected” (Confino, 2013). In confirmation of this, virtually all of the world’s largest 250 companies report on CSR (93%) and reporting by now appears to be business standard (KPMG, 2013). CSR reports are a medium for transparency which may lead to an improved company reputation (Noked, 2013; Thorne et al, 2008; Wilburn and Wilburn, 2013). In addition, it may be used as part of an ongoing shareholder relations campaign, which may prevent shareholders from submitting Environmental and Social (E&S)1 proposals (Noked, 2013), based on an Ernst & Young report 1 The top five E&S proposal topic areas in 2013 were: 1. Political spending/ lobbying; 2. Environmental sustainability; 3. Corporate diversity/ EEO; 4.Labor/ human rights and 5. Animal testing/ animal welfare. Three groups of environmental sustainability proposal topics of sub-category number two (environmental sustainability) 6 2013, representing the largest category of shareholder proposals submitted. PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) even goes as far as to claim that CSR reports are “…becoming critical to a company’s credibility, transparency and endurance.” (PwC, 2013).

The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of human resource (HR) practices on organizational performance through the mediating role of psychological contract (expressed by the influence of employer on employee promises fulfillment through employee attitudes). The study is based on a national sample of 78 organizations from the public and private services sector in Greece, including education, health, and banking, and on data obtained from 348 employees. The statistical method employed is structural equation modeling, via LISREL and bootstrapping estimation. The findings of the study suggest that employee incentives, performance appraisal, and employee promotion are three major HR practices that must be extensively employed. Furthermore, the study suggests that the organization must primarily keep its promises about a pleasant and safe working environment, respectful treatment, and feedback for performance, in order for employees to largely keep their own promises about showing loyalty to the organization, maintaining high levels of attendance, and upholding company reputation. Additionally, the study argues that the employee attitudes of motivation, satisfaction, and commitment constitute the nested epicenter mediating construct in both the HR practices–performance and employer–employee promise fulfillment relationships, resulting in superior organizational performance. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

REC is a business transaction which takes place over the Internet between a casual consumer and a firm. The consumer has no long-term relationship with the firm, orders a good or service, and pays with a credit card. To date, most REC applications have not been profitable. To build profitable REC applications a better understanding of the system's users is required. ^ The research model hypothesizes that the level of REC buying is dependent upon the Buying Characteristics of Internet Use and Search Experience plus the Channel Characteristics of Beliefs About Internet Vendors and Beliefs About Internet Security. The effect of these factors is modified by Time. Additional research questions ask about the different types of REC buyers, the differences between these groups, and how these groups evolved over time. ^ To answer these research questions I analyzed publicly available data collected over a three-year period by the Georgia Institute of Technology Graphics and Visualization Unit over the Internet. Findings indicate the model best predicts Number of Purchases in a future period, and that Buyer Characteristics are most important to this determination. Further, this model is evolving over Time making Buyer Characteristics predict Number of Purchases better in more recent survey administrations. Buyers clustered into five groups based on level of buying and move through various levels and buy increasing Number of Purchases over time. ^ This is the first large scale research project to investigate the evolution of REC. This implications are significant. Practitioners with casual consumer customers need to deploy a finely tuned REC strategy, understand their buyers, capitalize on the company reputation on the Internet, install an Internet-compatible infrastructure, and web-enable order-entry/inventory/fulliment/shipping applications. Researchers might wish to expand on the Buyer Characteristics of the model and/or explore alternative dependent variables. Further, alternative theories such as Population Ecology or Transaction Cost Economics might further illuminate this new I.S. research domain. ^

This paper presents a study that identifies a stakeholder-defined concept of Corporate Responsibility (CR) in the context of a UK financial service organisation in the immediate pre-credit crunch era. From qualitative analysis of interviews and focus groups with employees and customers, we identify, in a wide-ranging stakeholder-defined concept of CR, six themes that together imply two necessary conditions for a firm to be regarded as responsible— both corporate actions and character must be consonant with CR. This provides both empirical support for a notable, recent theoretical contribution by Godfrey (in Acad Manag Rev 30:777–798, 2005) and novel lessons for reputation management practice.

This thesis is an investigation on the corporate identity of the firm SSAB from a managerial viewpoint (1), the company communication through press releases (2), and the image of the company as portrayed in news press articles (3). The managerial view of the corporate identity is researched through interviews with a communication manager of SSAB (1), the corporate communication is researched through press releases from the company (2) and the image is researched in news press articles (3). The results have been deducted using content analysis. The three dimensions are compared in order to see if the topics are coherent. This work builds on earlier research in corporate identity and image research, stakeholder theory, corporate communication and media reputation theory. This is interesting to research as the image of the company framed by the media affects, among other things, the possibility for the company to attract new talent and employees. If there are different stories, or topics, told in the three dimensions then the future employees may not share the view of the company with the managers in it. The analysis show that there is a discrepancy between the topics on the three dimensions, both between the corporate identity and the communication through press releases, as well as between the communication through press releases and the image in news press articles.

The aim of this paper is to analyse the economic efficiency of members of protected designations of origin (PDO). For the first time we analyse the value of PDO labels from the point of view of economic efficiency. The central hypothesis is that a PDO has a positive impact on the economic efficiency of its member companies and that this is because a PDO label is a collective reputation indicator that foments efficient investment in quality in terms of member returns. The methodology applied to test this hypothesis is based on data envelopment analysis to estimate economic efficiency, and econometric models to explain company efficiency through both the PDO label, as an indicator of collective reputation, and the characteristics of the company. The results obtained in the experience goods of wine and cheese in Spain show that PDO labels have a positive impact on economic efficiency. Additionally, the age and size of the company have a positive effect while the wage level of the company has a different influence on efficiency depending on the sector considered. Overall, the results reveal the importance of PDOs in industries in which the signal of reputation is not only reliant on the individual brands.

This study focused on the method known as lean production as a work-related psychosocial risk factor in a Brazilian multinational auto parts company after its merger with other multinational companies. The authors conducted a qualitative analysis of two time points: the first using on-site observation and key interviews with managers and workers during implementation of lean production in 1996; the second, 16 years later, comparing data from a document search in labor inspection records from the Ministry of Labor and Employment and legal proceedings initiated by the Office of the Public Prosecutor for Labor Affairs. The merger led to layoffs, replacements, and an increase in the workday. A class action suit was filed on grounds of aggravated working conditions. The new production model led to psychosocial risks that increased the need for workers' health precautions when changes in the production process introduced new and increased risks of physical and mental illnesses.

The study on the thermal performance of the air-conditioned buildings of the new research centre of the Brazilian Petroleum Company, in the tropical climate of Rio de Janeiro, was part of a bigger research and consultancy, project involving environmental issues. The architectural design was the subject of a national competition in 2004, encompassing over 100,000 m(2). According to the design brief, out of the 10 buildings of the new research centre, 7 have to be either completely or partially air-conditioned, due to specific occupation requirements. The challenge for better thermal performance was related to systems` energy efficiency, to the introduction of natural ventilation and to the notion of adaptive comfort, which were verified with the support of thermal dynamic simulations. At the early stages of the assessments, the potential for natural ventilation in the working spaces considering the mixed-mode strategy achieved 30% of occupation hours. However, the development of the design project led to fully air-conditioned working spaces, due to users` references regarding the conventional culture of the office environment. Nevertheless, the overall architectural approach in accordance to the climatic conditions still showed a contribution to the buildings` energy efficiency. (C) 2008 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
