Esta obra pretende situar la TeologÃa europea que comienza a trasplantarse a América en los albores de las universidades americanas, y luego la historia social de esta ciencia y su interacción con la sociedad hasta el momento de su brusco extrañamiento del claustro por la reforma universitaria de 1850. Los rosaristas todos encontrarán aquà una raÃz vigorosa de la vida y originalidad de esta institución centenaria. El Archivo Histórico de la Universidad ha sido fuente primaria principal.

La autora recoge en este trabajo una selecci??n de las Actas del XVIII Congreso Internacional de la Ense??anza Secundaria Oficial celebrado en Par??s en 1937. M??s concretamente se traduce una selecci??n de textos de esas actas con el tema: la formaci??n del sentido social en la Ense??anza Secundaria. Se incluye el cuestionario que las Federaciones Francesas establecieron para facilitar el estudio de la cuesti??n. Como anexo se recoge la lista de los Delegados oficiales de cada Federaci??n, as?? como de los representantes de otras Sociedades, y de los gobiernos extranjeros que se sumaron al acontecimiento.

Se presenta una investigaci??n cuyo objetivo es ofrecer un marco comprehensivo sobre la visibilidad de las profesoras en la universidad espa??ola a trav??s del estudio de los elementos que la configuran. El concepto de visibilidad es el grado de presencia y reconocimiento de las mujeres en el ??mbito acad??mico. Se adopta una metodolog??a cualitativa y el trabajo de campo se desarrolla en dos centros universitarios p??blicos: la Universidad Aut??noma de Barcelona y la Universidad de Sevilla. Se utilizan tres instrumentos de recogida de datos: la entrevista semiestructurada, el an??lisis de los sitios web institucionales y el grupo de discusi??n. En las conclusiones se presenta un modelo sobre la visibilidad de las profesoras en la universidad que queda configurado por tres dimensiones: participaci??n, experticia y poder. ??stas est??n relacionadas con tres ??mbitos de actuaci??n profesional: docencia, investigaci??n y gesti??n con distintos grados de intensidad: alta, media y baja.

Se trata la dimensi??n sociol??gica de la ense??anza secundaria desde una visi??n generalizadora, donde se concluye que el Bachillerato nace como una ense??anza de ??lite, a la cual, pocos pueden acceder, dirigida a clases medias y al g??nero masculino. El estudio se centra en la regi??n gallega, concretamente en la Galicia interior decimon??nica, caracterizada por sus peculiares diferencias significativas, tanto en el n??mero como en la tipolog??a del alumnado respecto al contexto espa??ol. A partir de este estudio, se profundiza en el conocimiento de la estructura social gallega, en concreto, la orensana, donde se detecta la particular fisonom??a de la sociedad orensana y la evoluci??n de los grupos que constituyen la clase media y la peque??a burgues??a desde mediados del siglo XIX hasta principios del siglo XX. Se ofrecen datos que permiten el conocimiento de la estructura social y de las transformaciones que surgen en la sociedad orensana.
Estad??stica escolar, proceso de escolarizaci??n y sistema educativo nacional en Espa??a (1750-1850)

Reconstruir la red o mapa escolar y determinar las tasas de escolarizaci??n cuantificando y recurriendo a fuentes estad??sticas y censos o recuentos escolares. Estudiar la ense??anza elemental o primaria de Espa??a, de 1750 a 1850, desde el punto de vista de las estad??sticas de procedencia estatal.. Se analiza el proceso de escolarizaci??n y su gen??sis, la articulaci??n y la consolidaci??n de los sistemas educativos nacionales. La investigaci??n se estructura en cuatro per??odos cronol??gicos: 1. 1749-1807. Este per??odo se caracteriza por la carencia de estad??sticas dirigidas a conocer la situacu??n de las escuelas de Primeras Letras, en contraste con lo sucedido en otros niveles educativos. 2. 1808-1833. Se instaura un nuevo sistema educativo (1814) y se sientan las bases legales para una estad??stica regular. 3. 1833-1842. El hecho m??s significativo es la aprobaci??n, en 1838 de la Ley de Ense??anza Primaria. 4. 1843-1850. Se observa la necesidad de crear un cuerpo de inspectores en el ??mbito provincial. Antonio Gil de Zarate se convierte en el Director General de Instrucci??n P??blica, situandose al frente de la administraci??n educativa central.. Catastro del Marqu??s de la Ensenada (1749-1760), Interrogatorio de Tom??s L??pez (1766), Censo de Floridablanca (1787), Real Orden de Mayo de 1790, Censo de Godoy (1797), Interrogatorio general (1800), Interrogatorio General y encuesta educativa (1801), Censo de poblaci??n (1802), interrogatorio educativo (1807), Encuestas (1820, 1821, 1831, 1834, 1835, 1836).. tablas de frecuencias, tasas de escolarizaci??n.. Durante el per??odo considerado se observa el progresivo desgajamiento de la informaci??n estad??stico-educativa de otros fines fiscales y de fomento, llegando a adquirir una naturaleza propia. Se observa que entre los pol??ticos y reformistas ilustrados de la ??poca no existe una defensa expl??cita de un sistema educativo nacional. Todos los datos obtenidos se deben entender en el entorno econ??mico y social que los hace inteligibles. La mayor parte de las fuentes estad??sticas consultadas est??n incompletas y,o dispersas..

Within a changing climate, Mediterranean ‘Garrigue’ xerophytes are increasingly recommended as suitable urban landscape plants in north-west Europe, based on their capacity to tolerate high temperature and reduced water availability during summer. Such species, however, have a poor reputation for tolerating waterlogged soils; paradoxically a phenomenon that may also increase in north-west Europe due to predictions for both higher volumes of winter precipitation, and short, but intensive periods of summer rainfall. This study investigated flooding tolerance in four landscape ‘Garrigue’ species, Stachys byzantina, Cistus × hybridus, Lavandula angustifolia and Salvia officinalis. Despite evolving in a dry habitat, the four species tested proved remarkably resilient to flooding. All species survived 17 days flooding in winter, with Stachys and Lavandula also surviving equivalent flooding duration during summer. Photosynthesis and biomass production, however, were strongly inhibited by flooding although the most tolerant species, Stachys quickly restored its photosynthetic capacity on termination of flooding. Overall, survival rates were comparable to previous studies on other terrestrial (including wetland) species. Subsequent experiments using Salvia (a species we identified as ‘intermediate’ in tolerance) clearly demonstrated adaptations to waterlogging, e.g. acclimation against anoxia when pre-treated with hypoxia. Despite anecdotal information to the contrary, we found no evidence to suggest that these xerophytic species are particularly intolerant of waterlogging. Other climatic and biotic factors may restrict the viability and distribution of these species within the urban conurbations of north-west Europe, but we believe increased incidence of flooding per se should not preclude their consideration.

Fecundity and oocyte development in Salminus hilarii female brood stock were analyzed with the aim of investigating the impact of migration impediment on oogenesis. Histological analyses of the ovaries were performed in adult females caught in two different environments-the TietA(a) River (natural) and captivity-and the gonadossomatic index, oocyte diameter and fecundity determined. Five germ cell development stages (oogonium, perinucleolar, cortical alveoli, vitellogenic, ripe) and two other structures (postovulatory follicles and atretic oocytes) were observed in females caught in the river. Captive animals lacked the ripe oocytes and postovulatory follicles and had a relatively higher number of atretic oocytes. Females in captivity are known to produce larger oocytes, and they release fewer eggs in each spawn (absolute fecundity) when compared with animals that are able to migrate. Our results suggest that the TietA(a) River is undergoing alterations which are being reflected in the reproductive performance of S. hilarii, mainly due to the presence of atretic oocytes in females caught in the river. The lack of postovulatory follicles and ripe oocytes in captive animals reveals that migratory impediment negatively impacts final oocyte maturation. However, the stage of maturation reached is adequate for ovulation induction with hormone manipulation.

Esta dissertação visa analisar, através de um exercÃcio de interdisciplinaridade e de estudo de casos psiquiátricos, as representações simbólicas relativas à doença mental, pertinentes ao imaginário de um segmento da sociedade gaúcha, no perÃodo histórico que compreende os anos de 1937 a 1950. Através da relação de conceitos da Nova História Cultural e da Psicologia AnalÃtica de C.G. Jung, lança-se luzes sobre os dados encontrados nas fontes, quais sejam, as representações encontradas no imaginário dos doentes, cotejando-as sempre com aquelas que determinam a terapêutica dentro de uma instituição psiquiátrica, mais especificamente no Hospital Psiquiátrico São Pedro de Porto Alegre.

The Lewis blood group system involves two major antigens, Leª and Leb. Their antigenic determinants are not primary gene products but are synthesized by the transfer of sugar subunits to a precursory chain by a specific enzyme which is the product of the FUT3 gene (Lewis gene). The presence of three FUT3 gene single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) (59T > G; 508G > A and 1067T > A) was related to the Lewis phenotype of erythrocytes from 185 individuals of Japanese ancestry living in the town of Tomé-Açu in the Brazilian Amazon region. This relationship was detected using a serological hemagglutination test and the Dot-ELISA assay along with the molecular technique PCR-RFLP. We found that the three SNPs investigated in this study only accounted for a proportion of the Lewis-negative phenotype of the erythrocytes.

A high resolution luminescence study of NaLaF4: 1%Pr3+, 5%Yb3+ and NaLaF4: 1%Ce3+, 5%Yb3+ in the UV to NIR spectral range using a InGaAs detector and a fourier transform interferometer is reported. Although the Pr3+(P-3(0) -> (1)G(4), Yb3+(F-2(7/2) -> F-2(5/2)) energy transfer step takes place, significant Pr3+ (1)G(4) emission around 993, 1330 and 1850 nm is observed. No experimental proof for the second energy transfer step in the down-conversion process between Pr3+ and Yb3+ can be given. In the case of NaLaF4: Ce3+, Yb3+ it is concluded that the observed Yb3+ emission upon Ce3+ 5d excitation is the result of a charge transfer process instead of down-conversion. (C) 2010 Elsevier B.V.
