Polysulfidiprosessin vaikutukset soodakattilalla

Kandidaatintyön tavoitteena on tutkia polysulfidiprosessin vaikutuksia soodakattilalla. Työssä keskitytään enemmän soodakattilan energiantuotantoon kuin kemikaalien regenerointiin. Tutkimuksen kohteena ovat muutokset polttolipeän lämpöarvossa, kattilan energiantuotanto suhteessa selluntuotantoon, kattilan omakäyttöteho, palamisilma, päästöt sekä likaantuminen. Työssä kerrotaan myös polysulfidilipeän valmistusvaihtoehdot ja historiasta, sekä yleisesti soodakattilasta osana kemiallista sellunkeittoa. Polysulfidikeitossa sellumassan saannon odotetaan kasvavan verrattuna normaaliin sulfaattisellunkeittoon. Tällöin soodakattilalle päätyy vähemmän poltettavaa orgaanista materiaalia. Oletuksena on, että soodakattilan höyryntuotanto vähenee suhteessa selluntuotantoon. Tutkimusta tehdään perehtymällä tutkimusjulkaisuihin, haastattelemalla asiantuntijoita sekä laskemalla soodakattilan tuotantoarvoja taselaskentaohjelmalla. Työssä käytetään esimerkkinä tyypillistä modernia soodakattilaa, johon tuloksia sovelletaan. Saannon parantuessa noin prosenttiyksiköllä soodakattilan höyryntuotanto vähenee 3-5 %. Lipeän sisältämä orgaanisen aineen määrä vähenee ja kattilan kuorma helpottuu. Soodakattilan savukaasuihin saattaa ilmestyä vähäisiä määriä rikkipäästöjä. Kattilan kulumisessa ja likaantumisessa ei ole raportoitu olevan muutoksia.

Integration of Torrefaction with Steam Power Plant

Torrefaction is one of the pretreatment technologies to enhance the fuel characteristics of biomass. The efficient and continuous operation of a torrefaction reactor, in the commercial scale, demands a secure biomass supply, in addition to adequate source of heat. Biorefinery plants or biomass-fuelled steam power plants have the potential to integrate with the torrefaction reactor to exchange heat and mass, using available infrastructure and energy sources. The technical feasibility of this integration is examined in this study. A new model for the torrefaction process is introduced and verified by the available experimental data. The torrefaction model is then integrated in different steam power plants to simulate possible mass and energy exchange between the reactor and the plants. The performance of the integrated plant is investigated for different configurations and the results are compared.

Pintamagneettikoneen magneetin asennustavan ja -työkalun kehittäminen

Työn tavoitteena oli kehitellä uusia ratkaisuita pintamagneettikoneen magneetin asennustapaan ja -työkaluun generaattoreita valmistavalle The Switch Drive Systems:lle. Asiaa lähdettiin lähestymään tekemällä alussa töitä magneetin asennustehtävissä. Tämän jälkeen aloitettiin suunnitteluprosessi, jossa sovellettiin järjestelmällistä koneensuunnittelua sekä konseptisuunnittelua. Työn tulokseksi saatiin useita eri periaatteilla toimivia magneetinasennustyökaluideoita, joiden avulla voidaan tulevaisuudessa siirtyä jatkosuunnitteluun ja työkalun valmistukseen.

OCR Correction Tool for Linguistic Corpora

We introduce a new tool for correcting OCR errors of materials in a repository of cultural materials. The poster is aimed to all who are interested in digital humanities and who might find our tool useful. The poster will focus on the OCR correction tool and on the background processes. We have started a project on materials published in Finno-Ugric languages in the Soviet Union in the 1920s and 1930s. The materials are digitised in Russia. As they arrive, we publish them in DSpace (fennougrica.kansalliskirjasto.fi). For research purposes, the results of the OCR must be corrected manually. For this we have built a new tool. Although similar tools exist, we found in-house development necessary in order to serve the researchers' needs. The tool enables exporting the corrected text as required by the researchers. It makes it possible to distribute the correction tasks and their supervision. After a supervisor has approved a text as finalised, the new version of the work will replace the old one in DSpace. The project has - benefitted the small language communities, - opened channels for cooperation in Russia. - increased our capabilities in digital humanities. The OCR correction tool will be available to others.
