The Principle of optical thin film was used to calculate the feasibility of improving the light extraction efficiency of GaN/GaAs optical devices by wafer-bonding technique. The calculated results show that the light extraction efficiency of bonded samples can be improved by 2.66 times than the as-grown GaN/GaAs samples when a thin Ni layer was used as adhesive layer and Ag layer as reflective layer. Full reflectance spectrum comparison shows that reflectivity for the incident light of 459.2 nm of the bonded samples was improved by 2.4 times than the as-grown samples, which is consistent with the calculated results.

A novel analog-computation system using a quantum-dot cell network is proposed to solve complex problems. Analog computation is a promising method for solving a mathematical problem by using a physical system analogous to the problem. We designed a novel quantum-dot cell consisting of three-stacked. quantum dots and constructed a cell network utilizing the nearest-neighbor interactions between the cells. We then mapped a graph 3-colorability problem onto the network so that the single-electron configuration of the network in the ground state corresponded to one of the solutions. We calculated the ground state of the cell network and found solutions to the problems. The results demonstrate that analog computation is a promising approach for solving complex problems.

The effects of the carrier gas flow and water temperature on the oxidation rate for different reaction temperatures were investigated. The optimum conditions for stable oxidation were obtained. Two mechanisms of the oxidation process are revealed. One is the flow-controlling process, which is unstable. The other is the temperature-controlling process, which is stable. The stable region decreases for higher reaction temperatures. The simulation results for the stable oxidation region are also given. With optimum oxidation conditions, the stability and precision of the oxidation can be dramatically improved.

The triblock copolymers, poly(styrene-b-isoprene-b-epsilon-caprolactone)s (PS-b-PI-b-PCL) have been synthesized successfully by combination of anionic polymerization and ring-opening polymerization. Diblock copolymer capped with hydroxyl group, PS-b-PI-OH was synthesized by sequential- anionic polymerization of styrene and isoprene and following end-capping reaction of EO, and then it was used as macro initiator in the ring-opening polymerization of CL. The results of DSC and WAXD show big effect of amorphous PS-b-PI on the thermal behaviors of PCL block in the triblock copolymers and the lower degree of crystalline in the triblock copolymer with higher molecular weight of PS-b-PI was observed. The real-time observation on the polarized optical microscopy shows the spherulite growth rates of PCL27, PCL328 and PS-b-PI-b-PCL344 are 0.71, 0.46 and 0.07 mu m s(-1), respectively. The atomic force microscopy (AFM) images of the PS90-b-PI66-b-PCL-(28) show the columns morphology formed by it's self-assembling.

The effect of rare-earth ion Er3+ On myoglobin(Mb) was studied by using Resonance Raman spectroscopy. The results show that with the variation of Er3+ concentrations, both the oxidation state and spin state of Mb are sensitive to the perturbation of Er3+. Er3+ added to Mb affects the oxidation and spin state synchronously. The structure-sensitive groups of Mb are more accessible to the Er3+ than other groups. According to the fluorometry and CD spectra studied and our results as mentioned above, we considered that Er3+ does not interact with heme directly, and Er3+ probably leads to the conformational changes of Mb due to the change of oxidation and spin state of Heme.

Four lanthanide complexes with 2-nitro-5,10,15,20-tetraphenylporphyrin and acetylacetonate were prepared and characterized by elemental analyses, LR, UV-Visible,H-1 NMR, XPS and molar conductance. The redox properties of the lutetium complex with 2-nitro-5,10,15,20-tetraphenylporphyrin and acetylacetonate in dichloromethane were studied by cyclic voltammetry.

The complexes of a series of rare earths with Ge-132 have been prepared. The carboxyl anions of Ge-132 molecule were coordinated to rare earth ion with chelate style. In the complexes molecule, the GeO3/2 group of Ge-132 were hydrolyzed to become -Ge(OH)(3) group, and later does:not coordinate with rare earth ions. All of the complexes possess similar properties. In aqueous solution of pH 6 and 50 degrees C, these complexes can obviously selectively catalytically hydrolize the phosphatide bond of 5'-AMP and 5'-dAMP into phosphatic acid and riboside.
