Amphibian populations worldwide have been suffering declines generated by habitat degradation, loss, fragmentation and habitat split. With habitat loss and fragmentation in the landscape comes habitat split, which is the separation between the adult anuran habitat and breeding sites, forcing individuals to move through matrix during breeding seasons. Thus, habitat split increases the chance of extinction of amphibians with aquatic larval development and acts as a filter in the selection of species having great influence on species richness and community structure. The use of functional diversity allows us to consider the identity and characteristics of each species to understand the effects of fragmentation processes. The objective of this study was to estimate the effects of habitat split, as well as habitat loss in the landscape, on amphibians functional diversity (FD) and species richness (S). We selected 26 landscapes from a database with anuran surveys of Brazilian Atlantic Forest. For each landscape we calculated DF, S and landscape metrics at multiple scales. To calculate the DF we considered traits that influenced species use and persistence in the landscape. We refined maps of forest remnants and water bodies for metrics calculation. To relate DF and S (response variables) to landscape variables (explanatory variables), we used a model selection approach, fitting generalized linear models (GLMS) and making your selection with AICc. We compared the effect of model absence and models with habitat split, habitat amount and habitat connectivity effects, as well as their interaction. The most plausible models for S were the sum and interaction between habitat split in 7.5 km scale. For anurans with terrestrial development, habitat amount was the only plausible explanatory variable, in the 5 km scale. Predição de estruturas de proteínas (PSP) é um problema computacionalmente complexo. Modelos simplificados da molécula proteica (como o Modelo HP) e o uso de Algoritmos Evolutivos (AEs) estão entre as principais técnicas investigadas para PSP. Entretanto, a avaliação de uma estrutura representada pelo Modelo HP considera apenas o número de contatos hidrofóbicos, não possibilitando distinguir entre estruturas com o mesmo número de contatos hidrofóbicos. Neste trabalho, é apresentada uma nova formulação multiobjetivo para PSP em Modelo HP. Duas métricas são avaliadas: o número de contatos hidrofóbicos e a distância entre os aminoácidos hidrofóbicos, as quais são tratados pelo AE Multiobjetivo em Tabelas (AEMT). O algoritmo mostrou-se rápido e robusto.

AIM: To analyze the search for Emergency Care (EC) in the Western Health District of Ribeirão Preto (São Paulo), in order to identify the reasons why users turn to these services in situations that are not characterized as urgencies and emergencies. METHODS: A qualitative and descriptive study was undertaken. A guiding script was applied to 23 EC users, addressing questions related to health service accessibility and welcoming, problem solving, reason to visit the EC and care comprehensiveness. RESULTS: The subjects reported that, at the Primary Health Care services, receiving care and scheduling consultations took a long time and that the opening hours of these services coincide with their work hours. At the EC service, access to technologies and medicines was easier. CONCLUSION: Primary health care services have been unable to turn into the entry door to the health system, being replaced by emergency services, putting a significant strain on these services' capacity.

O objetivo do estudo foi identificar as representações sociais sobre qualidade de vida construídas por idosos. Trata-se de uma pesquisa exploratória com uma amostra de 240 idosos, de ambos os sexos. Para coleta de dados utilizou-se o Teste da Associação Livre de Palavras utilizando o estímulo indutor "qualidade de vida" e as variáveis sociodemográficas. As entrevistas foram analisadas com o apoio do software Alceste. Dos 240 idosos estudados, 167 eram do sexo feminino, a faixa etária dominante foi de 60 a 69 anos, renda entre dois e três salários, maioria casado e a religião predominante a católica. Os resultados do Alceste apontam sete classes hierárquicas, foram representados por: acessibilidade, trabalho, atividade, apoio, afetividade, cuidado e interações. Considera-se que as representações sociais dos idosos sobre qualidade de vida possam subsidiar os profissionais na compreensão da adesão de práticas preventivas para os idosos e no fortalecimento da consolidação da política dirigida a esse grupo populacional.
