According to the latest census (2011) covering the Portuguese housing stock, there is a considerable number of sub-occupied buildings and most of them were built before the first Portuguese Thermal Code (RCCTE). In view of the objectives of the European Union (20-20-20), it is necessary to contribute to the rehabilitation of existing buildings by promoting the densification of oversized houses, while complying with up-to-date comfort standards and codes. In this sense, this research is aimed to analyse this problem at the outskirts of Braga, by identifying the type-morphology of oversized buildings, assessing the degree of satisfaction and expectations of both owners and inhabitants and developing and testing a systematic design tool. Through the development of an intervention kit, wich systematizes and priorizes design strategies and solutions, the design team can have the necessary decision-making support tool to improve the spacial design of the building whilst considering energy efficency, sustainability and improvemente of interior environmental quality.

O Estereótipo na Publicidade em Cabo verde Estudo de Caso das Publicidades produzidas pela Design Comunicação e Imagem (DECO)

O presente trabalho monográfico intitulado “O estereótipo na publicidade em Cabo Verde – Estudo de Caso das Publicidades Produzida pela Design Comunicação e Imagem”, enquadra-se no âmbito do curso de licenciatura em Ciências da Comunicação, vertente Publicidade realizado pela universidade Jean Piaget de Cabo Verde. O presente trabalho visa apresentar as noções conceptuais do estereótipo e a sua dinâmica na publicidade e argumentar sobre alguns efeitos que este elemento pode promover no discurso publicitário. Assim, propôs-se como estudo de caso as publicidades criadas pela empresa DECO: O objectivo é, essencialmente, caracterizar a publicidade que se faz em Cabo Verde, verificando se os publicitários cabo-verdianos estão a explorar os recursos de que dispõem, designadamente os valores, os estilos de vida, estereótipos, etc., para chegar aos seus consumidores. Com a realização deste trabalho, chegou-se a conclusão que, o estereótipo faz parte da vida do homem para o bem ou para o mal. Sem a sua presença seria muito complicado perceber ou descodificar alguns fenómenos que acontecem na sociedade. O estereótipo ajuda na compreensão de informações que a primeira seria complexo de interpretar, tornando-a fácil.

A utilização de materiais obtidos pelo processo de sol-gel na construção de biossensores

The use of sol-gel materials to develop new biosensors has received great attention due to its characteristics and versatility of sol-gel process. An overview is presented of the state-of-the-art of electrochemical biosensors employing sol-gel materials. Low-temperature, porous sol-gel ceramics represent a new class for the immobilization of biomolecules. The rational design of sol-gel sensing materials, based on the judicious choice of the starting alkoxide, encapsulated reagents, and preparation conditions, allows tailoring of material properties in a wide range, and offers great potential for the development of electrochemical biosensors.

Construção de uma câmara para monitoramento in situ do processo de secagem de geis e sólidos porosos

The present work deals with the design and construction of an equipment for studying the drying process of gels and solids. The equipment was built using mainly a commercial oven and others peripherals for programmed control of temperature, humidity and data acquisition. The system allows the in situ monitoring of the gel drying, registering the weight loss, and the shrinkage of sample and the oven temperatures. This set of allowed parameters makes possible to establish the main steps involved in the drying of meso and nanostructured porous materials.

Avaliação do processo adsortivo utilizando mesocarpo de coco verde para remoção do corante cinza reativo BF-2R

This work used green coconut mesocarp as a bioadsorbent to remove Reactive Gray BF-2R dye. A 2³ factorial design was used to evaluate the influence of the variables adsorbent mass, particle size and stirring speed on the adsorptive process. Kinetic and adsorption equilibrium studies were performed. Results showed that the kinetic equilibrium was reached after 150 min. Using the Langmuir model, a q max of 21.9 mg g-1 and k of 0.30 L g-1 was obtained. The mesocarp of coconut, a residue of agribusiness, proved to be an effective alternative technique for the removal of dye in this study.

Comparação dos métodos de determinação da estabilidade oxidativa de biodiesel B100, em mistura com antioxidantes sintéticos: aplicação do delineamento simplex-centroide com variável de processo

The Rancimat and accelerated stove tests were used to determine the oxidative stability of B100 biodiesel mixed with synthetic antioxidants. The predictive equations, with process variable, were obtained by applying a simplex-centroid design. Regardless of the antioxidant used, all assays carried out with the accelerated stove test presented storage time longer than 177.88 d, the greatest value obtained by applying the Rancimat test. The t test, applied to the parameters containing the process variable, showed a statistically significant difference (at the level of 5%) between the methods used.
