Changes in the organism of females of some Cladocera in transition to gamogenesis. [Translation from: Zoologicheskie Zhurnal 49 1573-1575, 1970. ]

In species of Cladocera not forming ephippia, the latent eggs have a sheath formed by glands of the reproductive canals. Representatives of the families Daphniidae and Moinidae Goulden, 1968, in connection with the formation of their complex-structured ephippia, lost these glands. It was investigated whether there are such glands in species the latent eggs of which are enclosed in primitive ephippia. For this, with the help of histological methods, 55 females of Acroperus elongatus (Sars) (Chydoridea) and 88 females of Lathonura rectirostris (O. F. Muller), (Macrothricidae) were collected near Leningrad, were studied.

Chilodonella cyprini (Moroff, 1902) [Translation from: Izv.gos.nauchno-issled.Inst.ozer.i rech.ryb.kh-va 49 25-28, 1959]

The ciliated protozoan Chilodonella cyprini is described. Chilodon parasitizes the body, gills and fins of fishes. The infusoria produce irritation of the integument and strengthened mucous secretion. The sparse knowledsge of the ecology of chilodon is summarised and some advice on the struggle against cholodoniasis in carp given.

La leyenda de la violación de Lucrecia y la articulación del relato del reinado de Tarquinio el Soberbio en Tito Livio ("Ab Urbe Condita" 1.49-60)

[ES] El propósito de este trabajo es el de mostrar cómo Livio elabora el episodio de la violación de Lucrecia de tal manera que se conecta con los restantes episodios del reinado de Tarquinio el Soberbio, formando una unidad tan estrecha y bien dispuesta que éste se convierte en el punto culminante de un proceso que comienza con el inicio del reinado del último monarca romano. Livio no se limita a seleccionar y disponer en una simple secuencia temporal los hechos que la tradición atribuía al segundo Tarquinio, sino que los elabora y ordena con vistas a conseguir un relato efectivo desde la perspectiva literaria y narrativa y, como consecuencia de ello, convincente desde el punto de vista moral, una de sus principales preocupaciones.

Purification, characterization and cytokine release function of a novel Arg-49 phospholipase A(2) from the venom of Protobothrops mucrosquamatus

Group IIA phospholipase A(2) (PLA(2)) are major components in Viperidae/Crotalidae venom. In the present study, a novel PLA(2) named promutoxin with Arg at the site 49 has been purified from the venom of Protobothrops muerosquamatus by chromatography. It
