Enquadramento – O contacto pele-a-pele na primeira hora de vida tem benefícios para a mãe e para o recém-nascido, bem como um papel importante no estabelecimento da amamentação. Objetivos – Analisar a evidência científica dos benefícios do contacto pele-a-pele e amamentação na primeira hora de vida; determinar a prevalência do contacto pele-a-pele e da amamentação na primeira hora de vida; verificar quais são os fatores (variáveis sociodemográficas, contextuais da gravidez e do parto, e variáveis relativas ao recémnascido) que interferem nas práticas do contacto pele-a-pele e amamentação na primeira hora de vida. Método – Revisão sistemática da literatura no estudo empírico I. Efetuou-se uma pesquisa na PUBMED, The Cochrane Library, Scielo e Google Académico, estudos publicados entre janeiro de 2011 e dezembro de 2014. Destes foram selecionados 4 estudos, posteriormente analisados, que tiveram em consideração os critérios de inclusão previamente estabelecidos. Dois revisores avaliaram a qualidade dos estudos a incluir utilizando a grelha para avaliação crítica de um estudo descrevendo um ensaio clínico prospetivo, aleatório e controlado de Carneiro (2008). No estudo empírico II seguiu-se um tipo de estudo quantitativo e descritivo simples, de coorte transversal, desenvolvido no serviço de Obstetrícia do Centro Hospitalar Cova da Beira, segundo um processo de amostragem não probabilística por conveniência (n = 382). A recolha de dados efetuou-se através da consulta dos processos clínicos, entre janeiro e dezembro de 2014, das mulheres com idade ≥ 18 anos que tiveram um parto vaginal com feto vivo após as 37 semanas de gestação. Resultados – Evidência de que o contacto precoce pele-a-pele, imediatamente após o parto, é um potencial estímulo sensorial, que abrange o aquecimento do recém-nascido e a estimulação tátil e olfativa, maior estabilização da temperatura, frequência respiratória e nível de glicémia, com diminuição do choro. Está associado à promoção espontânea da amamentação. Na amostra constituída por 382 mulheres, dos 18 aos 46 anos, verificou-se que o contacto pele-a-pele ocorreu em apenas 26,6% da amostra. Cerca de 92,6% da amostragem deu de mamar na primeira hora de vida. No grupo de mulheres em que houve contacto pele-a-pele e amamentação, prevalecem as que têm idade igual ou inferior a 34 anos (66,3%) e predomínio das mulheres que tiveram 5 ou mais consultas (95,9%) de vigilância da gravidez. Conclusão – Face a estes resultados e com base na evidência científica disponível que recomenda o contacto pele-a-pele imediatamente após o parto e promoção da amamentação na primeira hora de vida, assume-se como indispensável que os profissionais invistam na sua formação e assumam um papel importante para a realização deste contacto, estimulando e facilitando esta prática, assim como a realização de mais estudos científicos com contributos para o estabelecimento e manutenção desta prática. Este trabalho apresenta o resultado de cinco estudos teóricos e empíricos embasados nas teorias de trocas sociais entre Líder-liderados (leader-member exchange), nas trocas sociais entre integrantes de equipes (team-member exchange) e no comprometimento organizacional, realizados nos anos de 2012 e 2013. A pesquisa empírica investigou a liderança, o comprometimento organizacional e o trabalho em equipe, mediante a participação voluntária de militares do Exército Brasileiro, dentre os quais se destacam aqueles que integraram a Missão de Paz para Estabilização do HAITI (MINUSTAH). Os dados da pesquisa foram coletados mediante o emprego de entrevistas individuais, realização de grupos focais (focus group) e aplicação de surveys pela internet. Os resultados dos estudos qualitativos indicaram a relevância da qualidade das trocas sociais entre líderes e liderados e do comprometimento organizacional para o trabalho desenvolvido na Missão de Paz para Estabilização do HAITI (MINUSTAH). Os estudos quantitativos indicaram o papel mediador do componente afetivo do comprometimento organizacional na relação entre a qualidade de trocas líder-liderado e a qualidade de trocas sociais em equipes. Análises comparativas identificaram diferenças no padrão de qualidade das trocas sociais estabelecidas entre líderes e liderados, entre os diferentes níveis hierárquicos e entre os militares que atuaram ou não na MINUSTAH. Verificou-se, ainda, que níveis mais elevados na qualidade de trocas sociais estabelecidas entre líderes e liderados e em equipes de trabalho estão associados a níveis mais elevados do componente afetivo de comprometimento organizacional. Estima-se que o presente estudo possa contribuir para o avanço de pesquisas sobre liderança e trocas sociais, além de subsidiar o aperfeiçoamento de programas de ensino, de treinamento e de fomento a pesquisas científicas, que possam favorecer as relações civis-militares no contexto brasileiro.

The final disposal of municipal solid waste in unsuitable areas without an infrastructure that meets the health measures and environmental protection, coupled with the lack of technical criteria in phase and decommissioning of the dump can promote environmental degradation. Alternatively to minimize the impacts of this activity for the stabilization of the area by isolating the massive waste with implementation of an adequate and finished by a layer of soil for plant growth final cover system. In this context, the present study aimed to evaluate the quality of the final cover in the area of a disabled dump the tropical semi-arid region in order to assist the process of recovery of these areas. The study area is located in the tropical semi-arid region in São João do Sabugi /RN. Soil samples were collected in the dump area and bushland as a benchmark of quality. To which they were subjected to analysis of physical attributes (particle density, bulk density, grain size and porosity), chemical properties (pH, K + , Na+ , Ca2 + , Mg2 + and Al3 + exchangeable, potential acidity, available phosphorus, sum of bases, CEC, base saturation, aluminum saturation, saturation Na + and adsorption ratio sodium, total organic carbon and total nitrogen) and total and soluble concentrations of heavy metals (Mn, Pb, Zn, Cd, Cu, Mo, Co, Cr, Ba and Ni). The differences between physical and chemical soil under native forest and final cover showing reduction of soil quality in the area off to the dump, which hinders the development of native vegetation and the recovery of the area. The absence of superior waterproofing to allow vertical transfer between the solid waste and the final cover promoted enrichment by chemical elements and heavy metals in excess can impair revegetation. Deficiencies found in the construction process of the final cover point to the need for intervention to accelerate the process of stabilization and recovery of the area of the local ecosystem

Compatibility testing between a drilling fluid and a cement slurry is one of the steps before an operation of cementing oil wells. This test allows us to evaluate the main effects that contamination of these two fluids may cause the technological properties of a cement paste. The interactions between cement paste and drilling fluid, because its different chemical compositions, may affect the cement hydration reactions, damaging the cementing operation. Thus, we carried out the study of the compatibility of non-aqueous drilling fluid and a cement slurry additives. The preparation procedures of the non-aqueous drilling fluid, the cement paste and completion of compatibility testing were performed as set out by the oil industry standards. In the compatibility test is evaluated rheological properties, thickening time, stability and compressive strength of cement pastes. We also conducted analyzes of scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction of the mixture obtained by the compatibility test to determine the microstructural changes in cement pastes. The compatibility test showed no visual changes in the properties of the cement paste, as phase separation. However, after the addition of nonaqueous drilling fluid to cement slurry there was an increased amount of plastic viscosity, the yield point and gel strength. Among the major causative factors can include: chemical reaction of the components present in the non-aqueous drilling fluid as the primary emulsifier, wetting agent and paraffin oil, with the chemical constituents of the cement. There was a reduction in the compressive strength of the cement paste after mixing with this drilling fluid. Thickening test showed that the oil wetting agent and high salinity of the non-aqueous fluid have accelerating action of the handle of the cement paste time. The stability of the cement paste is impaired to the extent that there is increased contamination of the cement slurry with the nonaqueous fluid. The X-ray diffraction identified the formation of portlandite and calcium silicate in contaminated samples. The scanning electron microscopy confirmed the development of the identified structures in the X-ray diffraction and also found the presence of wells in the cured cement paste. The latter, formed by the emulsion stability of the drilling fluid in the cement paste, corroborate the reduction of mechanical strength. The oil wetting agent component of the non-aqueous drilling fluid, the modified cement hydration processes, mainly affecting the setting time.

In the Oil industry, oil and gas pipelines are commonly utilized to perform the transportation of production fluids to longer distances. The maintenance of the pipelines passes through the analysis of several tools, in which the most currently used are the pipelines inspection cells, popularly knowing as PIG. Among the variants existing in the market, the instrumented PIG has a significant relevance; acknowledging that through the numerous sensors existing in the equipment, it can detect faults or potential failure along the inspected line. Despite its versatility, the instrumented PIG suffers from speed variations, impairing the reading of sensors embedded in it. Considering that PIG moves depending on the speed of the production fluid, a way to control his speed is to control the flow of the fluid through the pressure control, reducing the flow rate of the produced flow, resulting in reduction of overall production the fluid in the ducts own or with the use of a restrictive element (valve) installed on it. The characteristic of the flow rate/pressure drop from restrictive elements of the orifice plate is deducted usually from the ideal energy equation (Bernoulli’s equation) and later, the losses are corrected normally through experimental tests. Thus, with the objective of controlling the fluids flow passing through the PIG, a valve shutter actuated by solenoid has been developed. This configuration allows an ease control and stabilization of the flow adjustment, with a consequent response in the pressure drops between upstream and downstream of the restriction. It was assembled a test bench for better definition of flow coefficients; composed by a duct with intern diameter of four inches, one set of shutters arranged in a plate and pressure gauges for checking the pressure drop in the test. The line was pressurized and based on the pressure drop it was possible to draw a curve able to characterize the flow coefficient of the control valve prototype and simulate in mockup the functioning, resulting in PIG speed reduction of approximately 68%.

The stabilization of energy supply in Brazil has been a challenge for the operation of the National Interconnected System in face of hydrological and climatic variations. Thermoelectric plants have been used as an emergency source for periods of water scarcity. The utilization of fossil fuels, however, has elevated the cost of electricity. On the other hand, offshore wind energy has gained importance in the international context and is competitive enough to become a possibility for future generation in Brazil. In this scenario, the main goal of this thesis was to investigate the magnitude and distribution of offshore wind resources, and also verify the possibilities of complementing hydropower. A data series of precipitation from the Climatic Research Unit (CRU) Blended Sea Winds from the National Climatic Data Center (NCDC/NOAA) were used. According to statistical criteria, three types of complementarity were found in the Brazilian territory: hydro × hydro, wind × wind and hydro × wind. It was noted a significant complementarity between wind and hydro resources (r = -0.65), mainly for the hydrographical basins of the southeast and central regions with Northeastern Brazil winds. To refine the extrapolation of winds over the ocean, a method based on the Monin-Obukhov theory was used to model the stability of the atmospheric boundary layer. Objectively Analyzed Air-Sea Flux (OAFLUX) datasets for heat flux, temperature and humidity, and also sea level pressure data from NCEP/NCAR were used. The ETOPO1 from the National Geophysical Data Center (NGDC/NOAA) provided bathymetric data. It was found that shallow waters, between 0-20 meters, have a resource estimated at 559 GW. The contribution of wind resources to hydroelectric reservoir operation was investigated with a simplified hybrid wind-hydraulic model, and reservoir level, inflow, outflow and turbine production data. It was found that the hybrid system avoids drought periods, continuously saving water from reservoirs through wind production. Therefore, from the results obtained, it is possible to state that the good winds from the Brazilian coast can, besides diversifying the electric matrix, stabilize the hydrological fluctuations avoiding rationing and blackouts, reducing the use of thermal power plants, increasing the production cost and emission of greenhouse gases. Public policies targeted to offshore wind energy will be necessary for its full development.

The accessory optical system, the pretectal complex, and superior colliculus are important control centers in a variety of eye movement, being extremely necessary for image formation, consequently to visual perception. The accessory optical system is constituted by the nuclei: dorsal terminal nucleus, lateral terminal nucleus, medial terminal nucleus and interstitial nucleus of the posterior superior fasciculus. From a functional point of view they contribute to the image stabilization, participating in the visuomotor activity where all system cells respond to slow eye movements and visual stimuli, which is important for the proper functioning of other visual systems. The pretectal complex comprises a group of nuclei situated in mesodiencephalic transition, they are: anterior pretectal nucleus, posterior pretectal nucleus, medial pretectal nucleus, olivary pretectal nucleus and the nucleus of the optic tract, all retinal projection recipients and functionally are related to the route of the pupillary light reflex and the optokinetic nystagmus. The superior colliculus is an important subcortical visual station formed by layers and has an important functional role in the control of eye movements and head in response to multisensory stimuli. Our aim was to make a mapping of retinal projections that focus on accessory optical system, the nuclei of pretectal complex and the superior colliculus, searching mainly for pretectal complex, better delineation of these structures through the anterograde tracing with the B subunit of cholera toxin (CTb) followed by immunohistochemistry and characterized (measured diameter) synaptic buttons present on the fibers / terminals of the nucleus complex pré-tectal. In our results accessory optical system, including a region which appears to be medial terminal nucleus and superior colliculus, were strongly marked by fibers / terminals immunoreactive CTb as well as pretectal complex in the nucleus: optic tract, olivary pretectal nucleus, anterior pretectal nucleus and posterior pretectal nucleus. According to the characterization of the buttons it was possible to make a better definition of these nucleus.

The primary somatosensory cortex (S1) receives inputs from peripheral tactile receptors and plays a crucial role on many important behaviors. However, the plastic potential of this region is greatly reduced during adulthood, limiting functional recovery after injuries. This fact is due to the presence, in the brain parenchima, of structures and substances that have an inhibitory effect on plasticity, such as chondroitin sulfate proteoglicans (CSP) present in the perineuronal.nets (PNNs) surrounding a subset of neurons. Maturation of PNNs coincide with the closure of critical periods of plasticity in cortical areas, since CSP act to stabilize synaptic contacts. Removal of CSP is proven to be an effective therapeutic approach to restore plasticity and increase the odds of functional recovery after cortical lesion. In the present work, we removed CSP from the sensorimotor cortex of rats to restore plasticity and promote the compensatory morphofunctional regeneration of cortical circuits modified by removal of mystacial vibrissae during the critical period. Treatment with the CSP-digesting enzyme chondroitinase ABC proved efficient to restore plasticity in S1 circuits, as evidenced by morphological rearrangements and functional recovery.

The characteristics profile of individuals who develop AIDS in Brazil has changed over time. Among these modifications, a worrying finding is the increased incidence of AIDS in the elderly across the country. But, however, is not yet clear whether the increase in AIDS cases is sufficient to produce a change in the trend of measures in recent years in the Brazilian states, and this increase has an effect from the socioeconomic and demographic indicators. In this sense, the objective of this study is to analyze the AIDS incidence rates among the elderly in Brazil and its effect on socioeconomic and demographic inequalities in the period 2000 to 2012. This is an ecological time-series study to meet behavior of the time series of the incidence rates of AIDS in the elderly from 2000 to 2012. the rates were calculated using the secondary data from Diseases Information System Notification and the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics. Data were analyzed statistically to know the trends in incidence rates, by polynomial regression model and joinpoint log-linear regression model, but also the simple linear regression analysis to find the relationship of trends with variables socioeconomic and demographic. SPSS 20.0® and Joinpoint 4.1.1 programs were used. All tests were carried out considering a significance of 5%. After the analysis, in Brazil were reported 62,052 new cases of AIDS in the elderly from 2000 to 2012. During this period, a significant increase was found for males, both aged 50-59 years (APPC: 3.46 %, p <0.001), such as above 59 years (AAPC: 4.38%; p <0.001). For females, the increase was significant and has the largest increments in the time series, when compared to males in both age groups (AAPC: 4.62%, p <0.001 and AAPC: 6.53%; p <0.001) respectively. The largest increases are observed in women and in the states of North and Northeast. In the Southeast Region is observed stabilization of rates throughout the series. The reason of trends between the sexes had a significant reduction, but also an approach in both age groups of the study, reaching a ratio of 1.7 males for every female in the youngest age group. The trends were related to illiteracy rates, with increasing social inequality and the lowest human development in the Brazilian states. We conclude that in Brazil the incidence of AIDS in the elderly follows an increasing trend in individuals over 50 years. Noteworthy are the highest rates of study in women and in the states of North and Northeast. In this sense, the country needs to enhance policies towards older people with STD / AIDS, training health professionals and developing effective measures for the prevention and early diagnosis of infected people, especially in places with limited resources and high social inequality. In the long term, it is developing new studies to understand whether the measures taken were effective in reducing the trends identified in this study.

This work aim to show that the reach to the limits of capital accumulation, which is showing its first signs since the 60 s, has and still is exercising great importance in Brazilian economic policies. In the first chapter, we establish a reference to what is understood as the limit of capital accumulation after World War II and how the accumulation process drives itself to its own limits. In the following chapters, we detach the importance of the reached limit to the most relevant moments of Brazilian economic policy. Since the IIPND, when the first signs of influence raise in Brazilian economy, passing through the stabilizing attempts during the 80 s and 90 s and the emergence of the pro-market State in Brazil, until the 00 s, when macroeconomic prudence took shape and delimited the conduction of the country s economic policy, we will show how the limit of capital accumulation has played an important role.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the productive performance, metabolic and feeding behavior of sheep after ninety days deferred pasture at different heights. The experiment was conducted at Capim Branco experimental farm of the Universidade Federal de Uberlândia. During the period of 90 days, from June to September 2013, forty-eight crossbred lambs Santa Inês x Dorper, divided into groups of four animals, occupied twelve pickets deferred pasture with four initial heights (15 cm, 25 cm, 35 cm and 45 cm). During this period we evaluated the structural characteristics of pasture. For confinement, from September to December 2013, 32 of these animals were used (16 males and 16 females), divided into four bays, separated as pasture were using. The consumption was assessed daily, while biometric measurements were made every 21 days. In relation to gender, there were differences in average daily gain weight. Reviews of feeding behavior occurred at the beginning, middle and end of the experiment for 24 hours. The rumination and leisure activities do not present statistical differences, both initial height of pasture and by period. The time spent on intake was higher during the daytime both treatments starting height as the experimental periods, however, rumination activity was more intense at night. Blood glucose was achieved in five periods of the day, while other metabolites have been obtained with a collection made fortnightly. The different initial heights not promoted effects on blood glucose. The harvesting times were not affected. However, there was a reduction of basal blood glucose of animals throughout the experimental period. There was a significant interaction between the initial pasture heights and periods of evaluation of basal glucose. Cholesterol and triglyceride levels were below recommended levels, however the final phase of confinement cholesterol level increased significantly. The values of VLDL and GGT were above the reference range. FA and AST showed average values within the recommended values. Total protein was influenced by different initial heights of pasture. The creatinine and albumin had values below the recommended range. Moreover, the albumin decreased during the confinement time. Uric acid showed close to the recommended maximum. There was stabilization of compensatory growth, with modification of consumption and weight gain at 45 days of experiment.
