用群论的方法计算了Nd:YbVO4晶体的拉曼活性振动模数目,在室温下测得了其极化拉曼谱线,并指认了在不同几何配置下,各振动模式所对应的频率。同时,测得了室温下晶体的吸收谱,得到了中心波长为808am吸收峰的半高宽为12nm,并在J-O理论的基础上计算了晶体的光学参数,其三个晶场参数分别为Ω2=6.88945×10^-20cm^2。Ω4=4.13394×10^-20cm^2、Ω6=4.54503×10^-20cm^2,并由此得到^4F3/2能级的荧光寿命为178.69炉,1062nm处的荧光分支比为48.85%,积分发射截面为2.786710^-18cm^2。分别在808nm、940nm激发下测得晶体室温发射谱,观察到了Nd→Yb以及Nd←Yb间的能量传递现象。

采用磁控溅射法在(001)、(100)及(010)LiGaO2衬底上制备了ZnO薄膜,通过X射线衍射(XRD)、原子力显微镜(AFM)、透过光谱以及光致发光谱(PL)对薄膜的结构、形貌及光学性质进行了表征。结果表明LiGaO2衬底不同晶面上制备的ZnO薄膜具有不同的择优取向,在(001)(、100)及(010)LiGaO2上分别获得了[0001][、1100]及[1120]取向的ZnO薄膜;不同取向的ZnO薄膜表面形貌差异较大;薄膜在可见光波段具有较高的透过率;在ZnO薄膜的光致发光谱中只观察到了位于378 nm的紫外发射峰,而深能级发射几乎观察不到,(1100)取向的薄膜紫外发射峰强度最大,半高宽也最小,薄膜光致发光性质的差异主要和晶粒尺寸有关。

The growth and fabrication of GaN/InGaN multiple quantum well (MQW) light emitting diodes ( LEDs) on ( 100) beta-Ga2O3 single crystal substrates by metal-organic chemical vapour deposition (MOCVD) technique are reported. x-ray diffraction (XRD) theta-2 theta. scan spectroscopy is carried out on the GaN buffer layer grown on a ( 100) beta-Ga2O3 substrate. The spectrum presents several sharp peaks corresponding to the ( 100) beta-Ga2O3 and ( 004) GaN. High-quality ( 0002) GaN material is obtained. The emission characteristics of the GaN/InGaN MQW LED are measurement. The first green LED on beta-Ga2O3 with vertical current injection is demonstrated.

采用丘克拉斯基(Czochralski)技术生长了掺铥硅酸镥(Tm∶Lu2SiO5,Tm∶LSO)晶体;测量了LSO晶体在室温下的非偏振吸收光谱和非偏振荧光光谱;利用窄得-奥菲特(Judd-Ofelt)理论计算了Tm∶LSO晶体的窄得-奥菲特强度参数、振子强度、自发辐射概率、辐射寿命、积分吸收截面和积分发射截面.Tm∶LSO晶体的强度参数为Ω2=9.1355×10-20cm2,Ω4=8.4103×10-20cm2,Ω6=1.5908×10-20cm2;Tm∶LSO晶体在1.9μm附近有明显的发射峰(3F4→3H6跃迁),相应的辐射寿命为2.03 ms,积分发射截面为5.81×10-18cm2,半峰全宽(FWHM)为250 nm.用Tm∶LSO晶体在77 K温度下实现了激光运转.利用792 nm的激光二极管(LD)作为抽运源,获得中心波长为1960 nm的激光输出,抽运阈值为2.13 kW/cm2.

Mg0.4Al2.4O4 single crystals with good optical quality were successfully grown by the Czochralski method. The transmission spectrum indicated that the absorption edge of the crystal was at 220nm, while no apparent absorption peaks were found. The X-ray diffraction and DSC curve analysis showed that Mg0.4Al2.4O4 crystal was stable at room temperature. While after annealing in the air and hydrogen atmosphere at about 1200 degrees C,Mg0.4Al2.4O4 decomposed into Al2O3 and (MgO)(0.4)(Al2O3)(x) (0.4 < x < 1.2). Zinc oxide (ZnO) films with c-oriented were grown on fused quartz glass substrates at room temperature using dc reactive magnetron sputtering. The as-grown films were annealed at 700 degrees C in air and bombarded by ion beam, respectively. The effects of post-treatments on the structural and optical properties of the ZnO films were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), photoluminescence (PL), optical transmittance and absorption measurements. The XRD spectra indicate that the crystal quality of ZnO films has been improved by both the post-treatments. Compared with the as-grown sample, both annealed and bombarded samples exhibited blueshift in the UV emission peaks, and a strong green emission was found in the annealed ZnO film. In both optical transmittance and absorption spectra, a blueshift of the band-gap edge was observed in the bombarded film, while a redshift was observed in the annealed film. (c) 2004 Elsevier B.V. CO2 laser irradiation experiments on ZnO thin films are reported. The structural, optical, luminescent and vibrational properties of the samples were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmittance, photoluminescence (PL) and Raman measurements. XRD results show that the crystalline of the irradiated films was improved. The (002) peaks of irradiated ZnO films shift to. higher 20 angles due to the stress relaxation in the case of laser beam irradiation. From optical transmittance spectra, all films exhibit high transmittance in the visible range, the optical band edge of irradiated films showed a redshift compared with that of as-grown films. Compared with the as-grown films, the photoluminescence emission (in particular the relative intensities of visible emissions) intensities of irradiated samples enhanced. In the Raman scattering spectral both the A I. and E modes exhibited slight Raman blueshift. (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

The optical absorption edge and ultraviolet (UV) emission energy of ZnO films deposited by direct current (DC) reactive magnetron sputtering at room temperature have been investigated. With the oxygen ratio increasing, the structure of films changes from zinc and zinc oxide coexisting phase to single-phase ZnO and finally to the highly (002) orientation. Both the grain size and the stress of ZnO film vary with the oxygen partial pressure. Upon increasing the oxygen partial pressure in the growing ambient, the visible emission in the room-temperature photoluminescence spectra was suppressed without sacrificing the band-edge emission intensity in the ultraviolet region. The peaks of photoluminescence spectra were located at 3.06---3.15 eV. From optical transmittance spectra of ZnO films, the optical band gap edge was observed to shift towards shorter wavelength with the increase of oxygen partial pressure.

We report an experimental study on confined systems formed by butyloxybenzylidene octylaniline liquid crystal (4O.8) + gamma-alumina nanoparticles. The effects of the confinement in the thermal and dielectric properties of the liquid crystal under different densities of nanoparticles is analyzed by means of high resolution Modulated Differential Scanning Calorimetry (MDSC) and broadband dielectric spectroscopy. First, a drastic depression of the N-I and SmA-N transition temperatures is observed with confinement, the more concentration of nanoparticles the deeper this depression is, driving the nematic range closer to the room temperature. An interesting experimental law is found for both transition temperatures. Second, the change in shape of the heat capacity peaks is quantified by means of the full width half maximum (FWHM). Third, the confinement does not noticeably affect the molecular dynamics. Finally, the combination of nanoparticles and the external applied electric field tends to favor the alignment of the molecules in metallic cells. All these results indicate that the confinement of liquid crystals by means of gamma-alumina nanoparticles could be optimum for liquid crystal-based electrooptic devices.

设计了在0°和90°方位角下都具有低旁带的鉴别用导模共振滤光片。利用严格的耦合波理论,分析了这种器件在不同入射角、不同光栅槽深和覆盖不同厚度SiO2层情况下的衍射特性。得到了满足鉴别要求的导模共振滤光片结构。在30°入射角情况下,对于TE模式偏振光,设计的滤光片在0°和90°方位角下都有形状对称的反射光谱、低的旁带、两个位置分开的共振峰和适当的半宽度。

Electric field distributions inside resonant reflection filters constructed using planar periodic waveguides are investigated in this paper. The electric fields may be intensified by resonance effects. Although the resonant reflection peaks can be quite narrow using weakly modulated planar periodic waveguides, the strong electric field enhancement limits their use in high-power laser systems. Strongly modulated waveguides may be used to reduce the electric field enhancement and a cover layer may be used to narrow the bandwidth at the same time. Desired results (i.e. almost no electric field enhancement together with narrow bandwidth) can be realized using this simple structure.

In this paper, we design resonant reflection grating filters employing the second diffracted orders as the leaky modes, then analyze the bandwidth of the reflection peak and the electric field distributions inside the wavegude under resonance. The numeric calculation confirms that ultra-narrow resonant reflection peaks can be observed in these structures. At the same time, strong electric field enhancement appears under resonance. It provides a new approach to diversify the resonant reflection filters and may open a new way to the realization of ultra-narrow bandwidth filters. (C) 2008 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Multiyear ichthyoplankton surveys used to monitor larval fish seasonality, abundance, and assemblage structure can provide early indicators of regional ecosystem changes. Numerous ichthyoplankton surveys have been conducted in the northern Gulf of Mexico, but few have had high levels of temporal resolution and sample replication. In this study, ichthyoplankton samples were collected monthly (October 2004–October 2006) at a single station off the coast of Alabama as part of a long-term biological survey. Four seasonal periods were identified from observed and historic water temperatures, including a relatively long (June–October) “summer” period (water temperature >26°C). Fish egg abundance, total larval abundance, and larval taxonomic diversity were significantly related to water temperature (but not salinity), with peaks in the spring, spring–summer, and summer periods, respectively. Larvae collected during the survey represented 58 different families, of which engraulids, sciaenids, carangids, and clupeids were the most prominent. The most abundant taxa collected were unidentified engraulids (50%), sand seatrout (Cynoscion arenarius, 7.5%), Atlantic bumper (Chloroscombrus chrysurus, 5.4%), Atlantic croaker (Micropogonias undulatus, 4.4%), Gulf menhaden (Brevoortia patronus, 3.8%), and unidentified gobiids (3.6%). Larval concentrations for dominant taxa were highly variable between years, but the timing of seasonal occurrence for these taxa was relatively consistent. Documented increases in sea surface temperature on the Alabama shelf may have various implications for larval fish dynamics, as indicated by the presence of tropical larval forms (e.g., fistularids, labrids, scarids, and acanthurids) in our ichthyoplankton collections and in recent juvenile surveys of Alabama and northern Gulf of Mexico seagrass habitats.

Data on the trophic dynamics of fishes are needed for management of ecosystems such as Chesapeake Bay. Summer flounder (Paralichthys dentatus) are an abundant seasonal resident of the bay and have the potential to impact foodweb dynamics. Analyses of diet data for late juvenile and adult summer flounder collected from 2002−2006 in Chesapeake Bay were conducted to characterize the role of this flatfish in this estuary and to contribute to our understanding of summer flounder trophic dynamics throughout its range. Despite the diversity of prey, nearly half of the diet comprised mysid shrimp (Neomysis spp.) and bay anchovy (Anchoa mitchilli). Ontogenetic differences in diet and an increase in diet diversity with increasing fish size were documented. Temporal (inter- and intra-annual) changes were also detected, as well as trends in diet reflecting peaks in abundance and diversity of prey. The preponderance of fishes in the diet of summer flounder indicates that this species is an important piscivorous predator in Chesapeake Bay.

Computer vision algorithms that use color information require color constant images to operate correctly. Color constancy of the images is usually achieved in two steps: first the illuminant is detected and then image is transformed with the chromatic adaptation transform ( CAT). Existing CAT methods use a single transformation matrix for all the colors of the input image. The method proposed in this paper requires multiple corresponding color pairs between source and target illuminants given by patches of the Macbeth color checker. It uses Delaunay triangulation to divide the color gamut of the input image into small triangles. Each color of the input image is associated with the triangle containing the color point and transformed with a full linear model associated with the triangle. Full linear model is used because diagonal models are known to be inaccurate if channel color matching functions do not have narrow peaks. Objective evaluation showed that the proposed method outperforms existing CAT methods by more than 21%; that is, it performs statistically significantly better than other existing methods.
