The main subject of this study is the analysis of negotiations. The study was developed based on the scenery of paralization and impasse of the negotiations for the Free Trade Area of the Americas - FTAA. Generally speaking, delays and interruptions caused by controversies and impasses end up becoming strong efficiency problems which jeopardize the consensus building during any negotiation. As a justification, the target of this study is to identify processes and recommendations to help obtain, efficiently, agreements in the negotiations. Its final objective was to search for theoretical tools and techniques to be applied in situations of stoppage in a sense of eliminating the difficulties or making them at least easier to deal with. Secondarily other theoretical points of view were considered with the intention of understanding how strategies and theoretical tools can contribute in each situation or in each different scenario of the negotiation. Through the different ways of looking at it for the conduction of the negotiations, for evaluating the dimensions of the negotiations and in order to build up the consensus, the researcher was able to understand the perception and the interpretation of the subject in view. At last the conclusion was that the applicability of the chosen framework is positive in helping solve problems and controversies as well as building up the consensus during the negotiations.

This document constitutes itself a thesis for a master¿s, partial fulfillment for getting a master¿s degree in Public and Business Management. The subject is a research on the influence of the attribute of safety in the segmentation of pork in the northwest border of the State of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, involving a bibliographic review related to the theme, and also an explorative research in order to identify the characteristics of the sector. From this information, a descriptive research is carried out from data collected in stores wich commercialize pork products in Santa Rosa, reaching a comprehensive undestanding on the subject. The main results of the research are the theoretical building of the thematic support concerning the safety of the food; the use of interviews aiming at verifying the importance of different attributes of pork which the consumer consider important and also the identification of segments based on these assessments. The conclusions from the research show that the consumers in general consider of high importance the safety of the food, and it is due to the fact that pork is still considered a product which offers a high risk at consumption. Consumers still have a preconceived idea about pork, because years ago, hog breeding was conducted with precarious standards of hygiene. It is imperative that the related business and producers divulge the advances of the sector in order to destroy this negative concept. The study identified three segments of market to the consumer of in natura pork: the first emphasized attributes are the inspection and the presentation of the product (cluster 1), flavour and softness stand out as the second ones. Finally, the third most important attributes that consumers consider when picking a pork product are its price and its aspect. It also favours further studies wich can provide the formulation of new marketing strategies to order products that form part of this agrolimentary system, giving this segment opportunity to boost its business and improve its approach to its consumer.

This work focuses on the implications of accumulation of technological competences for improvement of operational performance indicators. This relationship is examined in two mechanical industry firms in Caxias do Sul-RS, in the period 1985-2000. Based on a comparative case study, this work finds its ground in both qualitative and quantitative empirical evidences, collected in different sources in the firms, which are being studied. The examination of accumulation of technological competences is done through a structure of analysis existing in literature, which is specifically adapted to the mechanical industry. The examination of performance improvement is based on a set of typical operational indicators pertaining to mechanical industry. Studies of this nature are already found, mainly in Latin American literature, since the eighties. But, the application of these analytic structures in industrializing firms in Brazil is found only in the nineties. This work shows that within a unique enterprise group there is a different accumulation of technological competences, and it demonstrates that this process is not automatic. Moreover, it contributes to explain not only the differences between both firms, in terms of operational performance at some points in time, but also, how both firms got to (or did not get to) improve their performance indicators along time. This conclusion is not different from that of previous studies, but it derives from a study made in a specific industry (mechanical), which has not yet been studied in the south of Brazil.

A dissertação tem como objeto a investigação das relações entre a o design de um website de comércio eletrônico de CDs e o comportamento do consumidor virtual, com ênfase a sua atitude e intenção de compra. O objetivo principal é mensurar o efeito do design da loja virtual (website) em seu papel de agente de vendas na Internet. A análise do comércio varejista de CDs foi escolhida, pois este produto é um dos principais artigos de venda neste canal. O estudo é apoiado em um referencial teórico, no qual são analisadas as características dos seguintes pontos: i) a Internet atuando como canal de vendas; ii) o comércio varejista de CD no Brasil e iii) o comportamento do consumidor e o seu processo decisório. Ainda no referencial teórico são apresentados os diversos modelos de avaliação de website existentes: baseado em Marketing, Teoria dos Dois Fatores, avaliação da qualidade, avaliação da web (W AM) e aceitação da Tecnologia na Web (T AM). A análise e comparação destes modelos serviu como base para o desenvolvimento da proposta do modelo de avaliação website. O estudo é complementado pelo desenvolvimento de uma pesquisa, com aplicação de questionário via web (websurvey). A coleta dos dados é utilizada como forma de validação estatística das relações existentes no modelo desenvolvido. Isto é feito por meio do uso da ferramenta de análise de Equações Estruturadas (SEM), suportada pelos conceitos e métodos de abordagem descritos no referencial teórico. A ferramenta permite tanto avaliar um modelo de mensuração e um modelo estrutural simultaneamente.

Esta dissertação realiza a caracterização da pobreza em municípios da região Centro-Sul do Rio Grande do Sul. Uma ênfase especial é dada a abordagem das capacitações. O conceito de pobreza considerado parte da noção de que ser pobre não significa apenas ter renda insuficiente ou estar situado abaixo de uma determinada linha de pobreza, mas não ter liberdade de escolhas para desenvolver um conjunto de capacitações para alcançar uma vida que o indivíduo julgue digna e satisfatória. A metodologia utilizada é a analítico-descritiva para a análise e crítica dos conceitos monetários de pobreza. Para a caracterização da pobreza nestes municípios realizou-se uma análise descritiva do tipo cross-section entre estes da região em exame, com um conjunto de outros municípios selecionados, considerados menos pobres.Os indicadores selecionados e examinados para a realização da comparação, são aqueles utilizados para mensurar a pobreza sob a ótica da incidência e intensidade da pobreza bem como a desigualdade de renda e aqueles que sobressaltam aspectos qualitativos da pobreza nas áreas de educação, saúde e saneamento básico. Com o objetivo de dar uma contribuição a região Centro-Sul, analisou-se indicativos de políticas voltadas a estas áreas examinadas. Os principais resultados obtidos nesta análise indicaram que a pobreza nos municípios da região Centro-Sul do Rio Grande do Sul é um fenômeno multidimensional não apenas de incidência, mas de intensidade principalmente.

The electronic commerce has become a channel of advertising, commercialization and distribution of products and services, continuously increasing it¿s importance in terms of both physical and financial volumes, but still exist many gaps in the knowledge about the choice process of sales channels in the electronic commerce. The objective of this work is to raise and quantify the relevant factors in the choice of these channels in Brazil. The identification of the relevant factors was made through depth interviews with consumers, users of electronic commerce, as well as through the existing theoretical referential on the subject. The quantification of these factors was carried out with book purchasers by electronic commerce, through quantitative research, using the methodology of conjoint analysis, where the price was the most important factor, followed by delivery time, positive experience on previous purchase, usability of the site, positive recommendation of friends and the site brand. These results indicate as important attributes: price, confidence, usability and brand.

This work is about the organizations guided to attend the clients/customers in all aspects focusing their characteristics, needs and expectations and that do their best to produce goods or do services which can permanently increase their clients' satisfactions. To reach this aim has been the challenge of their managers and administrators who work to make them be considered as state-of-the-art by other organizations and their clients or customers. Many different strategies have been taken to achieve it; since having the focus on the process , then on the products, and more recently on the clients/customers, meaning that their satisfaction has turned to be their new target; as their are the ones who will rate or evaluate their quality. This work is more especifically about the organizations in the make-up and beauty products retail market which carry out researches with the customers of stores, managers and members of their demonstration and sales teams. This research identifies the attributes the customers/clients appreciate most in the stores and how hard their managers and business owners work to satisfy their needs and expectations, showing how far they follow the principles of the organizations guided to clients/customers. As atividades dos Institutos de Pesquisa são a Pesquisa, o Desenvolvimento e a Inovação (PD&I), onde as tecnologias, produtos e serviços, constituem-se no produto final a ser disponibilizado à sociedade. No setor florestal, isto é bem marcante nos Institutos de Pesquisa Mistos que, ao contrário dos Institutos Públicos de Pesquisa, tem suas atividades de pesquisa e desenvolvimento direcionadas prioritariamente a solução de problemas imediatos dos sistemas de produção de madeira e o aumento da produtividade dos povoamentos florestais, para o atendimento das empresas associadas. Com o objetivo de identificar as possíveis diferenças nos modelos de geração, difusão e transferência de tecnologia dos IPPs e IPMs e qual o modelo atualmente em uso por esses institutos é que o presente estudo foi idealizado e implementado. Com o apoio de uma survey em uma fase inicial, foi construído um estudo de casos envolvendo os institutos de pesquisas florestais mais demandados pelos clientes/usuários dos IPPs e IPMs e realizada uma análise comparativa entre IPPs e IPMs, atuando na região Sul. A survey foi utilizada para viabilizar conhecer os clientes/usuários dos IPPs e IPMs. Em uma segunda fase, a principal da pesquisa, com a utilização da metodologia de estudo de casos, apoiada nos resultados da survey, foram coletados dados junto aos IPPs e IPMs para o conhecimento do processo de geração, difusão e transferência de tecnologia desses institutos e, dessa forma, conhecer os diferentes modelos de transferência de tecnologia, atualmente em uso pelos IPPs e IPMs. Foram considerados no estudo as questões pertinentes, levando em conta as características percebidas com a inovação, a existência ou não de ações colaborativas para a realização de PD&I, a sustentabilidade ambiental das pesquisas e a influência e ação dos stakeholders e do Sistema Nacional de Inovação neste processo. Os resultados alcançados demonstraram a existência de uma postura mais competitiva que colaborativa, tanto entre os usuários das pesquisas como no relacionamento entre os próprios institutos de pesquisa. Outro resultado interessante foi à identificação, na opinião desses usuários de um grau de satisfação maior em relação aos IPPs que aos IPMs, fato que surpreende pela própria característica da relação entre os IPMs e seus associados. A análise conjunta do Sistema Nacional de Inovação permitiu concluir que, instituição importante desse sistema tem atuado mais de uma forma limitadora que facilitadora das ações dos IPPs e IPMs, principalmente nos aspectos regulatórios e fiscalizadores da atividade florestal, em detrimento de ações estimuladoras em prol do desenvolvimento econômico, social e do agronegócio florestal da região Sul, resultados que também levam a concluir a influência do SNI no direcionamento do modelo de pesquisa desses institutos mais para um modelo mercadológico que tecnológico.

The main goal of this study is to contribute to the understanding of the appropriate accounting treatment of the operations in cooperatives, which differentiates them from other Brazilian commercial societies. This treatment is objectively examined under the lens of the norm NBC T 10.8 of Federal Council of Accounting, which determines distinction between cooperative acts and non-cooperative acts. The theoretical foundation of this paperwork is centered in examining, from both the cooperative doctrine and the accounting theory viewpoint, the issues related to the origin, nature and purpose of the cooperatives, as well as the accounting regulation applicable to them. The author developed a method to treat adequately the norm NBC T 10.8 and applied it to a case study of a wine producer cooperative in southern Brazil. As a result of this work, it is demonstrated that NBC T 10.8 eliminated a historical deficiency that permeated the accounting practice in cooperatives, whose accounting procedures - implicit in both technical and scientific content in NBC T 10.8 ¿ are presented in a detailed manner.

O presente estudo trata do uso comercial em projetos de reabilitação. Otrabalho analisa,primeiramente, o uso comercial do espaço na cidade contemporânea, procurando refletir sobre algumas quiestões como o papel do comércio nas cidades, as relações dos estabelecimentos comerciais e o tecido urbano, as maneiras pelas quais as edificações apresentam-se associadas com o sítio em que se encontram e o processo de criação do espaço público que esta atividade ajuda a desenvolver. Em seguida, é proposta uma reflexão sobre a memória e alguns conceitos adotados, seu grau de indeterminação, sua urgência e valores que assumem na atualidade. A respeito da forma de preservar essa memória na arquitetura, foram discutidos alguns conceitos e idéias das teorias formuladas no passado, até formar um escopo teórico contemporâneo que delineia uma trajetória para o processo do projeto nas intervenções nesses bens. Por fim, foram selecionados exemplos que demonstram a maneira pela qual os problemas levantados anteriormente dão uma resposta satisfatória às necessidades dos projetos. Para cada grupo de projetos apresentados, foi estabelecido um critério, pontuado com exemplos do cenário local, internacional ou considerados arquétipos deste tipo de uso e intervenção.

An increasing interest in society towards a tourist questions inspire studies for the new city plans. The objective of this plans is development the structure for attract more tourists. The objective of the present study is to investigate the impact of the new carnival street groups in South Zone in Rio de Janeiro. The study was based on quality data - two focus group ¿ one of them is a young person who lived in South Zone and the other with young person who lived in North Zone. Both groups has experience which street carnival. The focus groups agree with the idea of the South Zone street carnival is happiness, used of different fantasy, security and freedom, but disagree about the choice of many groups and the responsibility of organization. Both groups said the main problem is de size of groups and in the future this group limits the popular participation.

Este estudo objetivou verificar a percepção do consumidor sobre a relação entre as variáveis independentes: uso de dados secundários não autorizados, percepção de invasão de privacidade, percepção de proteção de privacidade, percepção de confidencialidade, percepção de autenticação, percepção de erro, comportamento intencional de uso e a variável dependente propensão à compra on line. Realizou-se um levantamento com aplicação de questionários em uma amostra de 451 usuários de Internet, alunos de graduação e de pós-graduação das Instituições de Ensino Superior de São Luís, Maranhão. A análise estatística englobou Análise Descritiva e Regressão Múltipla. Concluiu-se que apenas uma variável, comportamento intencional de uso, está correlacionada à variável dependente. Algumas limitações, implicações e sugestões de pesquisa futura foram analisadas neste estudo.

The Internet has taken the world by storm. It has eliminated the barriers of technology, and unlocked the doors to electronic commerce and the 'Virtual Economy'. It has given us a glimpse into the future of 'Business' itself, and it has created a bewildering variety of choices in our personal and professional lives. It has taken on a life of its own, and we are all frantically trying to keep up. Many overwhelmed companies are asking questions like: 'What should our Internet Strategy be?' Or 'How do we put our business on the Internet like everybody else is doing?' or 'How do we use this thing to make money without spending any?'. These questions may seem reasonable on the surface, but they miss the point because they focus on the technologies rather than the core issues of conducting day-to-day business. The Internet can indeed offer fast returns in marketing reach, speed, director consumer sales and so on, and many companies are using it to good advantage, but the highest and best use of any such technology is to support, enhance and even re-invent the fundamentals of general business practice. When the initial excitement is over, and companies gain experience and confidence with the new business models, this larger view will begin to assert itself. Companies will then start to position their 'Internet Strategies' in context of where the business world itself is going over time, and how they can prepare for what is to come. Until now, the business world has been very fragmented, its collective progress limited (in part) by the inability to communicate within and between companies. Now that the technical remedy seems to be at hand and standards are beginning to emerge, we are starting to see a trend toward consolidation, cooperation, and economic synergy. Companies are improving their internal business processes with Intranets, and Electronic Commerce initiatives have sprung up using EDI, the World Wide Web, E-Mail, secure credit card payments and other tools. Companies are using the Internet to talk to each other and to sell their goods and services to the end consumer. Like Berlin, the walls are coming down because they have to. Electronic 'Communities of Common Interest' are beginning to surface, with the goal of supporting and aligning similar industries (such as Government, Insurance, Transportation and Health care) or similar business functions (such as Purchasing, Payments, and Human Resources). As these communities grow and mature, their initial scope will broaden and their spheres of influence will expand. They will begin to overlap into other communities, creating a synergistic effect and reshaping the conduct of business. The business world will undergo a gradual evolution toward globalization, driven by economic imperatives and natural selection in the marketplace, and facilitated by Electronic Commerce and Internet technologies. The business world 'beyond 2000' will have a substantially different look and feel than that which we see today.

This dissertation enfoca the relationship between technological competences accumulation and the learning underlying processes. This relationship is examined in the company AGCO Comércio and Indústria Ltda, during the period of 1970 to 2000. It is of a company metal-mechanics, agricultural machines manufacturer. In other words, the dissertation examines the processes technological learning implications for aA technological competences accumulation in the company in study. The dissertation enfoca the competences accumulation for three technological functions: processes and organization, products and equipments. The learning processes are examined to the light of four characteristic: variety, intensity, operation and interaction, from the structure existing analysis use in the literature. Based on study of individual case, this study found that the technological competences ways to accumulation in the studied company are associates to the several processes used to acquire technological knowledge and converts him in organizacional. Ademais, the simple incidence of these processes in the company didn't guarantee in the company a positive implication for the technological competences accumulation. The company accumulated level middleman-superior technological competence (level 6) to accomplish production and function products function processes and organization activities, and intermediary level (level 5) to accomplish function equipments activities. In haves to characteristic key, the learning processes introduce an oscillation differentiated along time: the variety oscillated of moderated the several; the intensity of intermittent the continuous; the operation of bad the good; and the interaction of weak the strong. Through the existing structure use in the literature, however applied to a previous studies different industry, this dissertation suggests that must there be an organized , continuous effort and integrated for the knowledge generation and sowing in every company in order to the technological training accumulation be accelerated in the company.
