Teacher education programs do not sufficiently prepare White teachers to work with Black and Latino students in disciplinary alternative schools. From a critical race theory in education perspective, prepared White teachers are aware of their own ethnocentrism and, subsequently, develop anti-racist pedagogy and curricula.

The researchers in this study analyzed the self-identified leadership skills and key indicators of leadership as revealed by the written narratives of a group of teacher leaders. These teachers are graduates of a job-embedded, on-site degree program that uniquely combines collaborative professional development and school reform.

The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of a computer-based Integrated Learning Systems (ILS) model used with adult high school students engaging mathematics activities. This study examined achievement, attitudinal and behavior differences between students completing ILS activities in a traditional, individualized format compared to cooperative learning groups.

This literature review discusses the factors for successful job retention of adult workers with mental retardation, including external factors related to work environments and internal issues of the individual worker. Through the synthesis of the literature, a performance improvement model for supported employment is discussed based on Holton’s (1999) human resource development/performance improvement model.

The dilemma of securing a special education teacher supply is a critical issue. Understanding causes of attrition is vital to addressing the problem. This review analyzes literature and identifies factors for teacher retention/attrition while overlaying the concept of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs to understand this phenomenon from a psychological perspective.

Nonadherence to medication for tuberculosis (TB) can lead to new cases of TB and death. Interest in spirituality in healthcare has grown among adult educators, health educators and healthcare workers (Tisdell, 2003). This mixed-method study will explore spirituality and TB medication adherence among African American and Haitian populations.

The majority of Botswana citizens have access to national HIV/AIDS education, but the messages ignore native cultural practices. The purpose of this paper is to critique the influence of American humanism and individualism on the ABC model of HIV/AIDS prevention used to stem the AIDS epidemic in Botswana.
