A teoria da história de vida tem como objetivo compreender os fatores que produzem variações na taxa de sobrevivência, tamanho no nascimento, idade de maturação, sazonalidade na reprodução, longevidade, razão sexual da prole. O gênero Cavia pallas 1776 apresenta a maior distribuição dentro da subfamília Cavinae, sendo composto por seis espécies, dentre elas Cavia magna, a qual habita regiões de restinga próximas a estuários ou lagos do norte do Uruguai ao sul do Brasil. Durante esse trabalho avaliamos os padrões da história de vida de uma população de Cavia magna da Ilha dos Marinheiros, RS, Brasil, devido ao fato de se tratar de uma espécie com baixa taxa reprodutiva, distribuição geográfica restrita, e estar exposta a alta pressão de predação. Para isso foi realizado um programa de captura-marcação-recaptura, durante 13 meses no qual foram capturados 129 animais, sendo 63 fêmeas e 66 machos. As longevidades máximas registradas, foram 233 dias para uma fêmea e 321 dias para um macho. Foram encontradas 13 fêmeas grávidas ou lactantes, dentre elas 9 estavam grávidas, sendo que 6 estavam prenhas de 2 filhotes e 3 estavam prenhas de 1 filhote apenas. Vários parâmetros foram testados, para estimar a taxa de sobrevivência e captura ,utilizamos o programa Mark, o método jacknife um modelo probabilístico, que permite heterogeneidade individual nas taxas de captura também foi utilizado. Não houve diferenças significativas no número de machos e fêmeas, a razão sexual foi 1:1. Em relação a estrutura etária, a população foi composta por adultos (82%) e a densidade populacional foi de 30 animais por hectare.

This study examined the predictive utility of Lent’s (2004) social cognitive model of well-being in the context of academic satisfaction with a sample of Southeast Asian American college students using a cross-sectional design. Path analysis was used to examine the role of perceived parental trauma, perceived parental acculturative stress, intergenerational family conflict, and social cognitive predictors to academic satisfaction. Participants were 111 Southeast Asian American and 111 East Asian American college students who completed online measures. Contrary to expectations, none of the contextual cultural variables were significant predictors of academic satisfaction. Also contrary to expectations, academic support and self-efficacy were not directly linked to academic satisfaction and outcome expectation was not linked to goal progress. Other social cognitive predictors were related directly and indirectly to academic satisfaction, consistent with prior research. Limitations and implications for future research and practice are addressed.

Importance: critical illness results in disability and reduced health-related quality of life (HRQOL), but the optimum timing and components of rehabilitation are uncertain. Objective: to evaluate the effect of increasing physical and nutritional rehabilitation plus information delivered during the post–intensive care unit (ICU) acute hospital stay by dedicated rehabilitation assistants on subsequent mobility, HRQOL, and prevalent disabilities. Design, Setting, and Participants: a parallel group, randomized clinical trial with blinded outcome assessment at 2 hospitals in Edinburgh, Scotland, of 240 patients discharged from the ICU between December 1, 2010, and January 31, 2013, who required at least 48 hours of mechanical ventilation. Analysis for the primary outcome and other 3-month outcomes was performed between June and August 2013; for the 6- and 12-month outcomes and the health economic evaluation, between March and April 2014. Interventions: during the post-ICU hospital stay, both groups received physiotherapy and dietetic, occupational, and speech/language therapy, but patients in the intervention group received rehabilitation that typically increased the frequency of mobility and exercise therapies 2- to 3-fold, increased dietetic assessment and treatment, used individualized goal setting, and provided greater illness-specific information. Intervention group therapy was coordinated and delivered by a dedicated rehabilitation practitioner. Main Outcomes and Measures: the Rivermead Mobility Index (RMI) (range 0-15) at 3 months; higher scores indicate greater mobility. Secondary outcomes included HRQOL, psychological outcomes, self-reported symptoms, patient experience, and cost-effectiveness during a 12-month follow-up (completed in February 2014). Results: median RMI at randomization was 3 (interquartile range [IQR], 1-6) and at 3 months was 13 (IQR, 10-14) for the intervention and usual care groups (mean difference, −0.2 [95% CI, −1.3 to 0.9; P = .71]). The HRQOL scores were unchanged by the intervention (mean difference in the Physical Component Summary score, −0.1 [95% CI, −3.3 to 3.1; P = .96]; and in the Mental Component Summary score, 0.2 [95% CI, −3.4 to 3.8; P = .91]). No differences were found for self-reported symptoms of fatigue, pain, appetite, joint stiffness, or breathlessness. Levels of anxiety, depression, and posttraumatic stress were similar, as were hand grip strength and the timed Up & Go test. No differences were found at the 6- or 12-month follow-up for any outcome measures. However, patients in the intervention group reported greater satisfaction with physiotherapy, nutritional support, coordination of care, and information provision. Conclusions and Relevance: post-ICU hospital-based rehabilitation, including increased physical and nutritional therapy plus information provision, did not improve physical recovery or HRQOL, but improved patient satisfaction with many aspects of recovery.

A procura pelo sucesso empresarial tornou-se uma batalha diária das organizações. O reconhecimento por parte do mercado global tomou conta dos empresários que por sua vez, esquecem-se que o sucesso vem dos recursos internos das suas empresas. Este trabalho de investigação pretende fazer uma reflexão sobre a construção de uma Identidade Corporativa sólida, e focar a perspetiva dos Colaboradores. Neste sentido tornou-se necessário fazer uma pesquisa bibliográfica em torno do tema Identidade Corporativa, com enfoque no papel dos Colaboradores neste campo, Imagem e Cultura Corporativas, assim como outros conceitos inerentes. Assim, a presente pesquisa teve como propósito avaliar a perceção dos Colaboradores da CaetanoBus, empresa do Grupo Salvador Caetano, após a redefinição da Identidade Corporativa, que foi executada durante o estágio curricular que realizei nessa empresa. O estudo incidiu sobre a forma como os Colaboradores da Empresa percecionam a Nova Identidade Corporativa, assim como elementos inerentes a essa mudança, ou seja, Plataformas de Comunicação, Assinatura, Imagem e Valores da Empresa. Este estudo foi realizado durante um estágio curricular na CaetanoBus. Esta junção entre a dissertação e o minirelatório de estágio surge no âmbito da diversidade de tarefas realizadas e da minha própria ambição. Tal como é demonstrado pelo resumo de algumas tarefas realizadas durante o estágio curricular, estas proporcionaram o enquadramento do estudo que dá título a este trabalho. O estudo realizado permitiu verificar diversos pontos, principalmente:  O perfil da CaetanoBus, sendo que os Colaboradores caracterizam-na sobretudo como Confiante, Sincera e Honesta;  A avaliação geral dos Colaboradores relativamente aos Valores da CaetanoBus: a Tradição é o principal valor que os Colaboradores identificam com a Empresa, a seguir destaca-se o Respeito e a Inovação. O Valor com a classificação mais baixa é o Rigor, assim deverá ser feita a identificação das razões para que os Colaboradores não considerem tão presente o Valor Rigor, e definidas estratégias que contribuam para a futura resolução deste problema, o que ultrapassa o âmbito e objetivos do presente estudo.  Quase todas as hipóteses de pesquisa não são suportadas pelos dados estatísticos do estudo, este facto poderá evidenciar que as variáveis Personalidade da marca, Imagem da CaetanoBus e a Satisfação com a Nova Identidade Corporativa não variam consoante as variáveis – sexo, escolaridade, idade, função e antiguidade – dos seus Colaboradores.  Entre outras conclusões finais.

To ensure mission-readiness for military members, support for their families is essential. Military family health and health care satisfaction has been a neglected area of study in this population. Satisfaction can be defined in terms of patient-, provider-, and practice-level factors and is influenced by continuity of care, which is often poor in transient military populations. Using a modified patient satisfaction survey, this study found that both the number of moves and assigned providers were significantly associated with continuity of care in military spouses. Further, continuity of care was a significant predictor of satisfaction with military health care.

Enquadramento: A doença oncológica, independentemente da localização ou estadio, assim como os aspectos fisiológicos, psicológicos e sociais a ela associados podem resultar em prejuízo significativo ao nível do funcionamento sexual e relacional do doente. Objetivo: Identificar a influência da doença oncológica na vivência da sexualidade do doente oncológico. Métodos: Estudo de natureza quantitativa, exploratória e descritivo-correlacional, foi realizado com 330 utentes de um Centro Hospitalar na região centro, constituída por 61,5% mulheres e 38,5% homens, com idades compreendidas entre os 25 e os 84 anos (M= 56,05; DP= 12,16). Instrumento de colheita de dados composto por questionário de caracterização sociodemográfica, clínica e a Escala de Apgar Familiar, Smilkstein (1978); Escala de Imagem Corporal (Hopwood, et al 2001); Escala Reduzida de Ajustamento Mental ao Cancro (Watson et al, 1988); Questionário de Satisfação com o Relacionamento Sexual (Cappelleri et al, 2002). Resultados: Da amostra 81,1% é casada ou vive em união de facto, em relação à localização do cancro, 37,9% é localizado na mama e 31,8% digestivo. Relacionamento conjugal antes da doença muito satisfatório (45, 15% ) vs 32,12% nada/pouco satisfatório atualmente. Verificam-se diferenças estatísticamente significativas em algumas variáveis sóciodemográficas (idade, escolaridade), clínicas (localização do tumor, tratamento efetuado), funcionalidade familiar, imagem corporal e ajustamento mental ao cancro, na vivênvia da sexualidade pelo doente oncológico. Conclusão: A assistência aos portadores de doença oncológica deve incluir intervenções dirigidas ao despiste e tratamento da disfunção da sexualidade assim como ao planeamento de ações educativas/formativas dos profissionais de saúde no âmbito da sexualidade do doente oncológico. Recycled materials replacing part of virgin materials in highway applications has shown great benefits to the society and environment. Beneficial use of recycled materials can save landfill places, sparse natural resources, and energy consumed in milling and hauling virgin materials. Low price of recycled materials is favorable to cost-saving in pavement projects. Considering the availability of recycled materials in the State of Maryland (MD), four abundant recycled materials, recycled concrete aggregate (RCA), recycled asphalt pavement (RAP), foundry sand (FS), and dredged materials (DM), were studied. A survey was conducted to collect the information of current usage of the four recycled materials in States’ Department of Transportation (DOTs). Based on literature review, mechanical and environmental properties, recommendations, and suggested test standards were investigated separately for the four recycled materials in different applications. Constrains in using these materials were further studied in order to provide recommendations for the development of related MD specifications. To measure social and environmental benefits from using recycled materials, life-cycle assessment was carried out with life-cycle analysis (LCA) program, PaLATE, and green highway rating system, BEST-in-Highway. The survey results indicated the wide use of RAP and RCA in hot mix asphalt (HMA) and graded aggregate base (GAB) respectively, while FS and DM are less used in field. Environmental concerns are less, but the possibly low quality and some adverse mechanical characteristics may hinder the widely use of these recycled materials. Technical documents and current specifications provided by State DOTs are good references to the usage of these materials in MD. Literature review showed consistent results with the survey. Studies from experimental research or site tests showed satisfactory performance of these materials in highway applications, when the substitution rate, gradation, temperature, moisture, or usage of additives, etc. meet some requirements. The results from LCA revealed significant cost savings in using recycled materials. Energy and water consumption, gas emission, and hazardous waste generation generally showed reductions to some degree. Use of new recycled technologies will contribute to more sustainable highways.

 La identidad de una obra expresada a través de la escritura se teje en las voces y esfuerzos que se encarnan en memoria y dejan huella en el relato. El maestro es acción de este lenguaje movido por el his­torial social y cultural que permite hacer de la escritura un oficio ético y estético donde la mano construye y nombra las emociones que atraviesan al cuerpo. La escritura es el testimonio vital del maestro como artesa­no; es el arte del lenguaje que sale de su silencio con la lectura del relato, pero es, además, la potencia del pensamiento pues­to en pretexto estético donde se pregunta y se reflexiona por el tiempo y por el espacio de la palabra, es decir, las cronologías, kairologías, territorialidades y escenarios de las esferas educativas.Sobre estos presupuestos se propone una discusión pedagógica en torno a la necesidad de pensar la escritura artesanal como intención estética y política donde se plasma el testimonio del compromiso ético del maestro, pero también la perspectiva de los nuevos retos que la educación debe asu­mir para reencontrar el lenguaje con la vida y con las herencias socioculturales que dan cuenta del sujeto y de las subjetividades que confluyen en los procesos de formación, y que tienen despliegue y búsqueda en el escenario creativo y productivo de la escri­tura. Se intentará, entonces, reivindicar una pedagogía de la posibilidad en el lenguaje, una narratividad donde la memoria traza un puente para el encuentro de épocas, de rostros, de acontecimientos, de silencios y de saberes, donde el maestro está llamado a tejer, tallar, dibujar, componer y comu­nicar las artesanías que la educación ha olvidado, es decir, recuperar la memoria estética, lo cual también implica un olvido de las formas hegemónicas del arte.

Uma das condições que mais influencia a competitividade entre instituições de ensino é a Qualidade. Sendo a sociedade cada vez mais exigente, é necessário medir e avaliá-la. A utilização de uma ferramenta de autoavaliação, desenvolvida ao nível da União Europeia, a Common Assessment Framework (CAF), que teve como modelo de origem o European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM), veio permitir a medição da qualidade dos serviços prestados na administração pública. Este estudo apresenta os diversos aspectos referentes à temática da qualidade, o modelo CAF e os principais resultados obtidos num inquérito por questionário, junto dos alunos, colaboradores internos e gestores dos Serviços Académicos da Universidade de Évora, com o objectivo de avaliar o grau de satisfação com a qualidade do serviço prestado, o desempenho de todas as partes interessadas e, consequentemente, a sustentabilidade desse serviço. Desses resultados retiraram-se alguns pontos fortes, enunciaram-se diversos pontos fracos e evidenciaram-se sugestões de melhoria para o serviço em estudo. Neste sentido, este trabalho serviu de diagnóstico e apresenta uma ferramenta que permite aos Serviços académicos da Universidade de Évora conhecerem-se melhor e poderem mover-se no caminho da qualidade. ABSTRACT: One of the conditions that most influences the competitiveness among institutions of education is quality. As society increasingly demanding in terms of professional skills, it is necessary to measure and assess the quality of education, through continuous improvement to achieve excellence. Currently, the quality must be measured and seen as a competitive advantage. The use of a tool for self-evaluation of the quality, developed at EU level, the Common Assessment Framework (CAF) that has had its origin on European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM), carne allow the measurement of quality of services provided to the clients, based on an internal guidance for quality in the organization and on the adoption of quality ratings as a routine in their work. This study presents the various aspects relating to the issue of quality and the Common Assessment Framework (CAF) and presents the main results obtained through a survey by questionnaire. These questionnaires were applied to the students, staff and internal managers from the Academic Services of the University of Évora with the aim of assessing the grade of satisfaction with the quality of the services provided, the performance of all interested parties and therefore the sustainability of this service in this institution of higher education. As results obtained on this research there are some strengths, several weaknesses and suggestions for improvement that can benefit the service under study. This work can be used as a diagnosis and gives a tool that allows Academic Services of the University of Évora know themselves better and to be able to move on the path of quality.

The purpose of this study is to explore the relationship between various collegiate experiences including substance use, religiosity, campus climate, academic life, social life, self-concept, satisfaction with college, and perceived feelings of depression among Asian American college students compared to other racial groups. Employing Astin’s (1993) I-E-O model, the study utilized the 2008 Cooperative Institutional Research Program (CIRP) the Freshman Survey (TFS) and the follow up College Senior Survey (CSS) in 2012 with the final sample of 10,710 students including 951 Asian American students. Descriptive analysis, cross-tabulations, blocked hierarchical multiple regression analysis, the equality of the unstandardized beta coefficients from the regression analyses, and a one-way ANOVA were conducted for the data analysis. Asian American students who are female, from low SES backgrounds, academically less achieved, frequent substance users, less religiously involved, and less satisfied with overall college experiences showed higher levels of feeling depressed. For the rate of feeling depressed across racial groups, Asian American college students showed the highest rate of feeling depressed while White students reported the lowest rate of feeling depressed. For Asian American college students, feeling depressed in high school, hours spent per week on studying and homework, and self-confidence in intellectual ability were the most significant predictors of feelings of depression while drinking beer, drinking liquor, spirituality, failing to complete homework on time, hours spent per week on socializing, self rated self-confidence in social ability, and satisfaction with overall college experiences were significant predictors of feelings of depression. Asian American college students spent the longest hours on studying and homework, reported the highest GPA, but showed the lowest self-confidence on intellectual ability. For all four racial groups, feeling depressed in high school and self-confidence in intellectual ability were significant predictors of feelings of depression in common. Implications for practice and directions for future research emphasize the need for better understanding the unique cultural background and impact of academic life associated with feelings of depression among Asian American college students and developing customized psycho-educational and outreach programs to meet unique needs for psychological well-being for each racial group on campus.

A efetiva articulação entre os Cuidados de Saúde Primários e Hospitalares apresenta-se como uma estratégia para aumentar os ganhos em saúde, racionalizando os recursos financeiros, a eficiência dos serviços e a satisfação dos utentes. Com o presente projeto, pretendeu-se promover a comunicação entre as equipas de Saúde Escolar do Agrupamento de Centros de Saúde da Arrábida e a Consulta de Diabetes Juvenil do Centro Hospitalar de Setúbal, através da implementação de um protocolo de articulação, com o objetivo de assegurar o continuum dos cuidados de saúde às crianças e jovens acompanhadas na consulta de Diabetes Juvenil. Partindo das necessidades identificadas pelos e com os diversos profissionais de saúde envolvidos pretendeu-se garantir um plano assistencial integrado e desenvolver uma prática de complementaridade com a de outros profissionais de saúde e parceiros comunitários. Adotou-se a metodologia do planeamento em saúde e delinearam-se intervenções que envolveram os diferentes profissionais de saúde, conduzindo à reflexão e discussão sobre o tema, apontando para a mudança nas práticas, consubstanciado por etapas de conhecimento, motivação, apreciação, experimentação e finalmente de adoção; ABSTRACT: Effective coordination between Primary Health Care and Hospital presents itself as a strategy to increase health gains, streamlining financial resources, the efficiency of services and user satisfaction. With this project, the aim was to promote communication between the School Health Team of the Grouping Arrabida Health Centers and Juvenil e Diabetes Consultation of Setúbal Hospital Centre, through the implementation of a joint protocol with the objective of ensure the continuum of health care to children and young people accompanied the Juvenile Diabetes consultation. Starting from the needs identified by and with the various health professionals involved was intended to ensure an integrated care plan and develop a practice of complementarity with other health professionals and community partners. Adopted the planning methodology in health and outlined by interventions involving different health professionals, leading to reflection and discussion on the topic, pointing to the change in practice, embodied by stages of knowledge, motivation, appreciation, experimentation and finally adoption.

In an environment of constant change, technological developments, market competition and more informed consumers, the search for a lasting relationship through the conquest of loyalty has become the objective of companies. However, several authors suggest that this loyalty can be affected by negative comments available on the internet. Therefore, this dissertation has as objective to examine if the complaints are available on the internet impact the loyalty to a brand of mobile phone. The research used as the basis the Expanded NCSB model suggest by Johnson et al. (2001), studying five prominent drives of loyalty: image/brand reputation, affective commitment, calculative commitment, perceived value and trust, beyond the satisfaction construct as moderator variable. The research method adopted was the experimental design which included 285 undergraduate students, with the trial which included 285 undergraduate students, with the field study of the mobile industry, specifically, the brands of cell phones. The research approach was quantitative and methods were descriptive statistics, factor analysis, cluster analysis, linear regression and non-parametric test of Wilcoxon for data analysis. Of the 16 hypothesis stemmed from the research model proposed, 12 were confirmed. The results showed that the complaint available on the internet, here represented by the available on the site Reclame Aqui, may impact consumer perceptions about brand loyalty, as well as its antecedents, being that these complaints can affect all the consumers, regardless of historical satisfaction with the brand. It also noted the positive relationship between the independent variables trust, image/brand reputation, perceived value, affective commitment and calculative commitment and the dependent variable - loyalty, even when considering the data obtained after exposure to the complaint. However, no unanimous conclusion that the relationship between these variables was strongest in the group with satisfactory experience. At the first moment of the research, the trust was the most important variable for the formation of loyalty. However, after exposure to treatment, the image/brand reputation, was more relevant. The research in question looked for to establish the relation between the motivation (of the proprietor of apartment) to change itself of another one apartment, in closed vertical condominium (residential mobility) in the period of the recognition of the necessity, and the satisfaction with the apartment after consume. The universe or the population chosen for the development of the study was of proprietors of apartment in vertical condominiums located in the region metropolitan of Natal. The analysis of data was made using the techniques of linear regression and logistic regression between variables. The linear regression found relations between the motivations for housing change and the satisfaction in after consume with some attributes of the apartment. The logistic regression showed that relations between the motivations for change and the general satisfaction to the apartment exist as a whole, in the period after consumes. With regard to the motivation to change itself of a apartment for another one, some reasons shown more motivation them the others. The research found different degrees of satisfaction with certain characteristics of the apartment and degrees of no satisfaction with others. Finally the results of the research had contributed for the reply of the problem that guided the present study, therefore had obtained in such a way to find how much logistic not linear relations between the two periods purchase (recognition of the necessity and evaluation after consume) and had elucidated the process that goes since the choice the product until the satisfaction of the necessities

In recent decades, studies on economics have identified happiness as a life quality indicator that not only accounts for individuals’ socioeconomic improvement but also accounts for their interactions with institutions and public goods, such as personal safety and protection of life. This study examines the determinants of individual happiness of Latin American citizens by focusing on whether the individual had been a victim of a crime in the last twelve months. To do this, a generalized ordered logit with partial constraints is used to analyze data obtained from the Americas Barometer Survey of 2014. The individual self- reported level of life satisfaction is used to study its relationship with having been a victim of a crime during the previous year. The results suggest the existence of a negative relationship between having been a victim of a crime in the past twelve months and being very satisfied with life.
