The objective of this study was to characterize the structural-geophysical expression of the Transbrasiliano Lineament (TBL) in the east-central portion of the Parnaíba Basin. The TBL corresponds to a major Neoproterozoic NE-trending shear zone related to the Brasiliano orogenic cycle, with dextral strike-slip kinematics, underlying (but also laterally exposed in the NE and SW basin edges) the sedimentary section of the Parnaíba Basin. In this study, the interpretation of gravity and magnetic anomaly maps is consistent with the TBL kinematics, the signature of the geophysical anomalies corresponding to the high (plastic behaviour) and subsequent declining temperature (ductile to brittle behaviour) stages during Brasiliano and late Brasiliano times. The pattern of residual gravity anomalies is compatible with an S-C dextral pair shaping the geological bodies of an heterogeneous basement, such as slices of gneisses and granulites (positive anomalies), granitic and low-medium grade metasedimentary rocks (negative anomalies). Such anomalies curvilinear trends, ranging from NNE (interpreted as S surfaces) to NE (C surfaces), correspond to flattening surfaces (S), while the NE rectilinear trend must represent a C band. The narrower magnetic anomalies also display NNE to NE (S surfaces) trends and should correspond to similar (although narrower and more discontinuous) sources in the equivalent anomaly patterns. Pre-Silurian pull-apart style grabens may contribute to the NE negative gravimetric anomalies, although this interpretation demands control by seismic data analysis. On the other hand, the curvilinear anomalies associated to contractional trends are incompatible with their interpretation as pre-Silurian graben, in both maps. In the (reduced to the pole) magnetic anomalies map, most of these are again associated to low-temperature shear zones (C planes) and faults, juxtaposing distinct blocks in terms of magnetic properties, or eventually filled with basic bodies. It is also possible that some isolated magnetic anomalies correspond to igneous bodies of late-Brasiliano or Mesozoic age. The basement late discontinuities pattern can be interpreted in analogy to the Riedel fractures model, with steep dipping surfaces and a sub-horizontal movement section. This study also explored 2D gravity modeling controlled by the interpretation of a dip seismic line as regards to the Transbrasiliano Lineament. The rock section equivalent to the Jaibaras Group occupying a graben structure (as identified in the seismic line) corresponds to a discrete negative anomaly superimposed to a gravimetric high, once again indicating a stronger influence of older crystalline basement rocks as gravimetric sources, mainly reflecting the heterogeneities and anisotropies generated at high temperature conditions and their subsequent cooling along the TBL, during the Brasiliano cycle.

In this work it was performed a study to obtain parameters for an 1D regional velocity model for the Borborema Province, NE Brazil. It was used earthquakes occurred between 2001 and 2013 with magnitude greater than 2.9 mb either from epicentres determined from local seismic networks or by back azimuth determination, when possible. We chose seven events which occurred in the main seismic areas in the Borborema Province. The selected events were recorded in up to 74 seismic stations from the following networks: RSISNE, INCT-ET, João Câmara – RN, São Rafael – RN, Caruaru - PE, São Caetano - PE, Castanhão - CE, Santana do Acarau - CE, Taipu – RN e Sobral – CE, and the RCBR (IRIS/USGS—GSN). For the determination of the model parameters were inverted via a travel-time table and its fit. These model parameters were compared with other known model (global and regional) and have improved the epicentral determination. This final set of parameters model, we called MBB is laterally homogeneous with an upper crust at 11,45 km depth and total crustal thickness of 33,9 km. The P-wave velocity in the upper crust was estimated at 6.0 km/s and 6.64 km/s for it lower part. The P-wave velocity in the upper mantle we estimated at 8.21 km/s with an VP/VS ratio of approximately 1.74.

Studies have shown that resident informally plays the role of teacher. It is estimated that up to 25% of the residents of the time is devoted to teaching, mainly contributing as a facilitator, however, almost the entire medical residency programs in Brazil did not offer teacher training during residency education. This paper aims to introduce educational content initiation to teaching as part of the training of resident physician inserted in residency program of the University Hospital Onofre Lopes (HUOL). It is an exploratory, descriptive and prospective study in HUOL the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte. Three steps were developed: preparation and planning of a pedagogic course, associated with a motivating technical content (basic and advanced life support); second stage, testing of pedagogical model for medical students; and finally, replication to residents. The interventions were made two practice stations life support with performance evaluation in practical activity through OSPE (Objective Structured Practical Examination). The techniques presented teachings were one-minute preceptor and feedback. Data collection was conducted through a structured evaluation form during the life support stations and at the end of the course, and analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results showed that the feedback and one minute preceptor were considered important for teaching and learning for more than 85% of participants. The feedback from evaluators practices stations added information about the performance and were held appreciatively way, according to 100% of the participants. Positive aspects highlighted by the participants were related to educational content, especially the participants of the first intervention. The time of the lectures of motivating technical content was the most repeated negative. Based on the good acceptance of pedagogical contents, this pioneer teacher training strategy was included in the formal residency program in Cardiology of our institution. It is considered therefore that the educational training model with motivating technical content was feasible and had a good evaluation and acceptance by most participants in both interventions. Thus, we believe that the educational content can be inserted in the formal curriculum of medical residency of other programs at HUOL through the training model developed in this study.

CHAPTER II - This study evaluated the effects of two different types of acute aerobic exercise on the osmotic stability of human erythrocyte membrane and on different hematological and biochemical variables that are associated with this membrane property. The study population consisted of 20 healthy and active men. Participants performed single sessions of two types of exercise. The first session consisted of 60 min of moderate-intensity continuous exercise (MICE). The second session, executed a week later, consisted of high-intensity interval exercise (HIIE) until exhaustion. The osmotic stability of the erythrocyte membrane was represented by the inverse of the salt concentration (1/H50) at the midpoint of the sigmoidal curve of dependence between the absorbance of hemoglobin and the NaCl concentration. The values of 1/H50 changed from 2.29 ± 0.1 to 2.33 ± 0.09 after MICE and from 2.30 ± 0.08 to 2.23 ± 0.12 after HIIE. In MICE has occurred an increase in the mean corpuscular volume, probably due to in vivo lysis of older erythrocytes, with preservation of cells that were larger and more resistant to in vitro lysis. The study showed that a single bout of acute exercise affected the erythrocyte osmotic stability, which increased after MICE and decreased after HIIE.

En el ámbito de la investigación sobre Mareas, existen controversias que han dado lugar a extensos debates científicos y a la publicación de resultados contradictorios. Dos de estas discusiones, ampliamente conocidas, son la interpretación geofísica de los residuos finales de marea gravimétrica y la existencia o no de correlación entre las mareas y la ocurrencia de terremotos. El objetivo fundamental de esta tesis doctoral es realizar aportaciones a ambos aspectos de forma significativa y relevante. Si a las amplitudes y desfasajes de las componentes armónicas del potencial de mareas obtenidas a partir de datos de observación les restamos la parte correspondiente al modelo teórico de marea sólida y también la parte correspondiente al efecto oceánico, obtenemos un vector residuo final de marea cuya interpretación es un asunto muy debatido en Geodesia. Mientras que algunos autores sugieren que los residuos finales están relacionados con posibles errores instrumentales y de medida o con errores en la evaluación de los cálculos de la carga oceánica, otros proponen ciertas relaciones empíricas entre estos residuos finales de marea gravimétrica y parámetros que implican variaciones estructurales con respecto a un modelo de Tierra elástico homogéneo, como el flujo térmico o la edad tectonotérmica de la litosfera...

Enquanto actores, desejavelmente interventivos nos Sistemas Turísticos, os Museus, enfrentam desafios de integração dos seus visitantes no Destino em que se inserem. No âmbito desta complexidade e outros contextos aqui não referidos, estes processos de integração do visitante poderão também oscilar entre a integração na temática específica que sustentam, a integração na cultura mais alargada que personificam ou num âmbito ainda mais vasto, poderão contribuir para a integração numa Experiência Global desse mesmo destino. O Museu da Cerâmica investigado, sustenta e incrementa um Imaginário Colectivo assente numa nostalgia cultural que reafirma a cerâmica local como principal veículo da promoção cultural e patrimonial do destino Caldas da Rainha. O presente trabalho perspectiva a possibilidade do Imaginário, em determinados contextos, poder ser equacionado como uma espécie de preconceito cultural que inibe, ou, no mínimo, não contribui para promover experiências culturais mais vastas. No sentido inverso, ganham importância acrescida estratégias a seguir pelos Museus para que as suas funções pedagógicas e emancipadoras sejam mais amplas e interventivas em função de interesses existentes e previamente assumidos pelo Destino.

In Marxist frameworks “distributive justice” depends on extracting value through a centralized state. Many new social movements—peer to peer economy, maker activism, community agriculture, queer ecology, etc.—take the opposite approach, keeping value in its unalienated form and allowing it to freely circulate from the bottom up. Unlike Marxism, there is no general theory for bottom-up, unalienated value circulation. This paper examines the concept of “generative justice” through an historical contrast between Marx’s writings and the indigenous cultures that he drew upon. Marx erroneously concluded that while indigenous cultures had unalienated forms of production, only centralized value extraction could allow the productivity needed for a high quality of life. To the contrary, indigenous cultures now provide a robust model for the “gift economy” that underpins open source technological production, agroecology, and restorative approaches to civil rights. Expanding Marx’s concept of unalienated labor value to include unalienated ecological (nonhuman) value, as well as the domain of freedom in speech, sexual orientation, spirituality and other forms of “expressive” value, we arrive at an historically informed perspective for generative justice.

L'attenzione è stata posta su tre fenomeni fondamentali di scattering: Thomson, Compton e Compton inverso. Sono state sottolineate alcune ed eventuali applicazioni astrofisiche di questi e valutate le implicazioni o generalizzazioni che da tali fenomeni possono derivare: Synchrotron Self-Compton, Comptonizzazione ed effetto Sunyaev-Zeldovich termico. Infine è stato preso un caso astrofisico come applicazione di questi fenomeni: Sagittarius A*, una fonte radio proveniente dal centro della nostra galassia, molto studiata negli anni, citando un articolo pubblicato su una rivista scientifica nel 2012.

I robot ad architettura parallela sono meccanismi robotici a catena chiusa. Se al posto di membri rigidi estensibili, come collegamenti tra base e piattaforma, si utilizzano dei cavi avvolgibili allora si parla di manipolatori paralleli a cavi. Nel primo capitolo si mettono a confronto robot seriali e paralleli, si descrivono le caratteristiche dei manipolatori paralleli a cavi e si presentano alcune attuali applicazioni. Nel secondo capitolo si forniscono richiami fondamentali di cinematica e dinamica del corpo rigido e si fanno alcuni cenni alla teoria dei torsori. Nel terzo capitolo si affronta il problema geometrico-statico inverso di un robot parallelo a tre cavi. Nel quarto capitolo si affronta il problema della dinamica inversa, che è sempre da risolvere nei casi in cui si abbiano forze inerziali rilevanti e si desideri raggiungere livelli di accuratezza elevati. Nel quinto capitolo si descrive il codice di simulazione Matlab-Adams. Nel sesto capitolo si descrive la componentistica meccanica ed elettronica del prototipo di laboratorio di manipolatore parallelo a tre cavi e si presentano i risultati ottenuti dalle simulazioni combinate Matlab-Adams nei casi di diverse traiettorie percorse a differenti velocità; infine, si mettono in evidenza le differenze tra l’approccio dinamico e quello statico quando le velocità dei motori e le inerzie della piattaforma mobile sono rilevanti.

The objective is to analyze the relationship between risk and number of stocks of a portfolio for an individual investor when stocks are chosen by "naive strategy". For this, we carried out an experiment in which individuals select actions to reproduce this relationship. 126 participants were informed that the risk of first choice would be an asset average of all standard deviations of the portfolios consist of a single asset, and the same procedure should be used for portfolios composed of two, three and so on, up to 30 actions . They selected the assets they want in their portfolios without the support of a financial analysis. For comparison we also tested a hypothetical simulation of 126 investors who selected shares the same universe, through a random number generator. Thus, each real participant is compensated for random hypothetical investor facing the same opportunity. Patterns were observed in the portfolios of individual participants, characterizing the curves for the components of the samples. Because these groupings are somewhat arbitrary, it was used a more objective measure of behavior: a simple linear regression for each participant, in order to predict the variance of the portfolio depending on the number of assets. In addition, we conducted a pooled regression on all observations by analyzing cross-section. The result of pattern occurs on average but not for most individuals, many of which effectively "de-diversify" when adding seemingly random bonds. Furthermore, the results are slightly worse using a random number generator. This finding challenges the belief that only a small number of titles is necessary for diversification and shows that there is only applicable to a large sample. The implications are important since many individual investors holding few stocks in their portfolios

There are a great number of evidences showing that education is extremely important in many economic and social dimensions. In Brazil, education is a right guaranteed by the Federal Constitution; however, in the Brazilian legislation the right to the three stages of basic education: Kindergarten, Elementary and High School is better promoted and supported than the right to education at College level. According to educational census data (INEP, 2009), 78% of all enrolments in College education are in private schools, while the reverse is found in High School: 84% of all matriculations are in public schools, which shows a contradiction in the admission into the universities. The Brazilian scenario presents that public universities receive mostly students who performed better and were prepared in elementary and high school education in private schools, while private universities attend students who received their basic education in public schools, which are characterized as low quality. These facts have led researchers to raise the possible determinants of student performance on standardized tests, such as the Brazilian Vestibular exam, to guide the development of policies aimed at equal access to College education. Seeking inspiration in North American models of affirmative action policies, some Brazilian public universities have suggested rate policies to enable and facilitate the entry of "minorities" (blacks, pardos1, natives, people of low income and public school students) to free College education. At the Federal University of the state Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), the first incentives for candidates from public schools emerged in 2006, being improved and widespread during the last 7 years. This study aimed to analyse and discuss the Argument of Inclution (AI) - the affirmative action policy that provides additional scoring for students from public schools. From an extensive database, the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) technique was used as well as a Quantile Regression considering as control the variables of personal, socioeconomic and educational characteristics of the candidates from the Brazilian Vestibular exam 2010 of the Federal University of the state Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN). The results demonstrate the importance of this incentive system, besides the magnitude of other variables

O cinema clássico caracteriza-se por uma absoluta linearidade evenemencial, em que, por causa e efeito, o filme progride até ao seu fim, o qual corresponde ao cumprimento de todos os objetivos do herói. Este sistema orienta o espetador ao longo do percurso de storytelling, permitindo-lhe usufruir da imersão no mundo diegético. É também nesta base que as crianças aprendem o significado do mundo, quando colocam as questões: “Porquê?”/“E depois?”. Mas e se o “depois” viesse “antes”? Nesse caso verificar-se-ia uma sabotagem do resultado e um boicote do entendimento. Contudo, é essa a proposta estética de um filme que decide contar uma história com princípio, meio e fim, mas fazendo-o, em tranches, por ordem inversa à dos eventos: Irréversible (Gaspar Noé, 2002). Analiso este filme com o intuito de provar que esta construção não é um mero jogo lúdico ou um simples artifício criativo, pois o material narrativo é muito pesado e a estratégia tem intuitos ideológicos metanarrativos. A inversão da ordem dos acontecimentos proporciona uma avaliação do filme como discurso autoral sobre a narrativa cinematográfica, em que o realizador/argumentista nos confronta com propósitos dramatúrgicos precisos. A interpretação do filme é inteiramente condicionada pela ordem em que os factos nos são apresentados, aumentando o valor da história narrada, tanto quanto o da narração.
