“Ich habe gedacht, ich bin ihresgleichen und dann war ich immer ganz jemand anderes” : das Leben von Pfarrfrauen in der hannoverschen Landeskirche bis Anfang der 1970er Jahre im Licht sozialtechnischer Modernisierung

De protestantiska prästernas hustrur, prästfruarna, inom Landeskirche Hannover utgör en liten grupp konfessionellt bundna och troende kvinnor som jag undersökt ur kvinnohistoriskt och kulturvetenskapligt perspektiv. Jag belyser förändringarna i synen på prästgård, prästfruns värv och församling under mitten av 1900-talet då prästfruarna förlorade sin ställning i samhälle och församling. Prästfruarna framstår som vittnen över slutet på en epok som började med reformationen och som visat sig vara grundläggande för utformningen av moderniteten liksom också för övergången till senmoderna makt- och socialtekniker som lett till dagens emancipatoriska krav på självförverkligande med jaget som expert. Förändringarna ledde till kvinnopolitiska segrar, som bättre tillgång till arbetsmarknaden, men också till en hittills inte undersökt tragisk sida av denna modernisering, nämligen hur det självständiga handlingsutrymme försvann som prästfruarna hade i prästgård och församling just som kvinnor. Den protestantiska kyrkan bidrog så till en revolutionerande strukturomvandling för att referera till historikerna Lutz Raphael och Anselm Doering-Manteuffel.

Influence of secondary packing on the freezing time of chiken meat in air blast freezing tunnels

Freezing of poultry cuts in continuous convective air blast tunnels is normally performed with the products protected by Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) as a primary packaging and using Corrugated Cardboard Boxes (CCB) as secondary packaging. The objective of this work was to investigate the influence of these secondary packaging on the freezing of poultry cuts in continuous convective air blast tunnels. The study was performed by replacing CCB with Perforated Metal Boxes (PMB) in order to remove the packaging thermal resistance. The assays, performed in a industrial plant, demonstrated that CCB used commercially for meat freezing have a high heat transfer resistance. Their replacement with PMB can lead to shorter freezing times and spatially homogeneous freezing. Reductions of up to 45% in the freezing times were observed using PMB. The plateau of the temperature curve, related to the freezing time of free water, was significantly reduced using PMB, which is accepted to lead to better product quality after thawing. As the products were protected by the LDPE films as primary packaging, their appearance were not affected. The results presented in this work indicate that replacing CBB with PMB can be an excellent alternative to reduce freezing time and improve freezing homogeneity in industrial air blast tunnels, which could also be applied to other products.

Quality of minimally processed guava with different types of cut, sanification and packing

The purpose of this project was to evaluate the sanitization effect on the quality of minimally processed guava. Initially, research was carried out with consumers in a supermarket to verify preferences of packaging for guava. Following this, the guava cv. Paluma underwent two sanitization sequences using dehydrated sodium dichloroisocyanurate compound, in 50 ppm concentration, sanitization prior to (S1) and after (S2) being cut; removal of excess water; conditioning in PET packaging and PSPVC and storage at 3 ºC ± 1 ºC. Physicochemical analysis - [pH, total soluble solids (SST), total labeled acidity (ATT), ascorbic acid (AA), total sugars (AT) and reducers (AR)], textural sensorial and microbiological analyses were used to monitor the quality of the products. The consumers preferred the guava cut in halves with pulp and packed in PET, although this packaging promoted condensation of water vapor on the inner surface of the lid, compromising the appearance of the product. The two sanitization sequences and the two kinds of packaging did not significantly affect the pH, SST, ATT, SST/ATT, texture and AA values. The AT and AR tenors increased significantly in the MP guavas stored in the PSPVC package. Both sanitizations were efficient in the bacterial control of the indicators of the hygienicsanitary conditions, although the S1 sanitization proved to be more efficient in the control of autochthonous aerobic microbiota (aerobic mesophylic microorganisms). It can be concluded that guava cv. Paluma packed in PSPVC can be conserved for 6 days when stored at 3 ºC.

Tämä sivuainetutkielma tarkastelee, miten keskustelufoorumin käyttäjät tunnistavat ja määrittelevät erilaisia sosiaalisia viiteryhmiä erimielisyystilanteissa. Työ pohjautuu sosiaalipsykologisiin käsitteisiin omasta ja vieraista viiteryhmistä, jotka voidaan ilmaista eksplisiittisesti tai implisiittisesti. Viiteryhmiin viittausta analysoitiin keskustelunanalyyttisen konseptin jäsenkategoria avulla. Tarkasteltavana oli saksalaisen naistenlehden Brigitte Community -keskustelupalstalta löytyvän keskusteluketjun 50 ensimmäistä viestiä. Keskustelunaiheena oli vastakkainasettelu kumppaninen salaisen rakastajan ja kumppanin salaisen bordellissa käymisen välillä. Tämän sivuaineen tutkielman taustalla vaikuttavat useammat teoreettiset lähtökohdat, jotka yhdistettiin ja joita muokattiin aineistoon sopivaksi. Jotta eri viiteryhmien määritelmiä pystyttiin analysoimaan keskustelunanalyyttisin keinoin, piti huomioida sellaiset perinteiset käsitteet, kuin vuoroparit ja keskustelun rakenne. Vuoropareja käsiteltiin näkökulmasta, jonka mukaan asynkronisessa tietokonevälitteisessä viestinnässä vallitsee illuusio vuoropareista. Keskustelun katsottiin koostuvan kokonaisuutena lomittaisista ja toisiinsa nivoutuneista keskustelukentistä. Analyysiin sisällytettiin kenttiä, jotka koostuivat vähintään kolmesta vuorosta ja muodostivat selkeän erimielisyyden. Erimielisyyden määrittely pohjautuu Muntiglin ja Turnbullin (1998) malliin. Tulokset osoittivat, että asynkronisen median käyttäjillä on monimuotoisia keinoja määritellä sekä oma että vieras viiteryhmä. Oman viiteryhmän määrittelyssä ilmeni ainoastaan harvoja esimerkkejä monitahoisemmista rakenteista, mutta vieraiden viiteryhmien määrittelyssä mahdollisuudet olivat moninaisemmat. Tulokset vihjaavat, että toisinaan erimielisyydet saattavat johtua vieraiden viiteryhmien eriävistä määritelmistä eriävien omien viiteryhmien sijaan.

Bio-inspired optimization & sampling technique for side-chain packing in MCCE

The prediction of proteins' conformation helps to understand their exhibited functions, allows for modeling and allows for the possible synthesis of the studied protein. Our research is focused on a sub-problem of protein folding known as side-chain packing. Its computational complexity has been proven to be NP-Hard. The motivation behind our study is to offer the scientific community a means to obtain faster conformation approximations for small to large proteins over currently available methods. As the size of proteins increases, current techniques become unusable due to the exponential nature of the problem. We investigated the capabilities of a hybrid genetic algorithm / simulated annealing technique to predict the low-energy conformational states of various sized proteins and to generate statistical distributions of the studied proteins' molecular ensemble for pKa predictions. Our algorithm produced errors to experimental results within .acceptable margins and offered considerable speed up depending on the protein and on the rotameric states' resolution used.

Resource abundance and Survival of indigenous ornamental fishes of central Kerala with emphasis on handling and packing stress in Puntius filamentosus(VALENCIENNES)

This thesis Entitled Resource abundance and survival of indigenous ornamental fishes of central kerala with emphasis on handling and packing stress in puntius filamentosus (valenciennes).Kerala state is endowed with 41 west flowing and three east flowing rivers originating in the Western Ghats. These rivers and their vast network of tributaries and distributaries harbour rich and diversified fish fauna. Most of the freshwater fishes available in Kerala are highly appreciated as ornamental fishes in the national and international markets.Today the ornamental fish industry is one of the largest industries all over the world. The demand for ornamental fishes has been increasing steadily with the enlargement of the industry, such that the current demand for indigenous ornamental fishes have exceeded the supply. This has led to serious concern about the resources available in the country that can be utilised judiciously for the economic benefit of the state. With an aim to fill up the lacuna, a database of freshwater ornamental fishes of Kerala was created as part of the present study. Ornamental fishes destined for export marketing should thrive well in the aquarium conditions.The study reiterates fishes caught from different environmental conditions and feeding habits have a greater ability to adapt and acclimatise to an entirely new environment and food habits. Marketing studies based on the statistics available with Marine Products Export Development Authority show that these species are not being exported at the required level over the past 6 years, when compared to the availability in the water bodies of Kerala. Sustainable utilisation of these resources from the wild using modern management principles and code of conduct for responsible fishing are advisable until captive breeding technology is popularised.
