This research pursues two avenues of thought: 1. Prophetology—that is, the theory dealing with the gnoseological status of the prophetic gift—and 2. That of a rationalistic philosophical culture, common to Christians and Jews and used for mystical and “anthropological” ends—that is, the quest for the perfection of the human being. In the former instance, the discussion deals exclusively with natural prophesy as it appears in the Arab tradition, which was spread throughout the Christian and Jewish cultures of the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries through Maimonides’ Guide for the Perplexed. This type of prophecy, for the spread of which the Latin translation of Maimonides’ work was decisive, was adopted—with variations—by a number of authors who formed part of Dante’s culture, particularly Albertus Magnus, in the Christian sphere, and Judah Romano and Abulafia in the Jewish sphere. With regard to the latter—i.e., the common philosophical culture—this relates to the High Medieval sacralized formulation that instrumentalised—through the study and application of a given exegesis—an Averroist model of demonstration of the condition of the possibility of thought: the instrument of scientific demonstration becomes a propaedeutic for salvation; that is, an instrument of a mystical nature for the achievement of personal and civil perfection. The philosophy that supports this model— Averroes’ noetics—along with its exegetic instrumentalization, formed a fundamental part of the intellectual climate of the Italy (and, above all Florence) in which Dante’s works were written...

Peter Sloterdijk presented a reading of Heidegger's Letter on Humanism at a conference held at Elmau in 1999. Reinterpreting the meaning of humanism in the light of Heidegger's Letter, Sloterdijk focused his presentation on the need to redefine education as a form of genetic ‘taming’ and proposed what seemed to be support for positive eugenics. Although Sloterdijk claimed that he only wanted to open a debate on the issue, he could not have been surprised at the level of opposition this suggestion aroused. In the weeks following, he blamed Habermas for raising this opposition and for refusing to engage with him openly. Although Luis Arenas has chronicled the aftermath of Sloterdijk's paper, it may be of interest to educators to examine how Heidegger's text is presented. What is this new humanism? If Heidegger's new humanism was based on a mystical attitude towards Being, so Sloterdijk's new humanism was to be based on the materialist principles of a biotechnological age. Unlike Heidegger who rejected technology as yet one further example of the forgetfulness of Being, Sloterdijk seems to embrace technology and the enhancement of the human body and mind as the next great step forward in educational theory. Could he possibly be right? Is education in these times a partner or an opponent of the technological enhancement of the human being? This article tries to identify Sloterdijk's disagreements with Heidegger on the question of the human.

/ABSTRACT: I did my curricular traineeship at the Theatre Company Trigo Limpo Teatro ACERT, in Tondela. It's a theatre troupe with an essence and a charisma very special and unique. I was there for three months (from March to May). I had the chance to accompany many activities as to participate in several projects, instead of being parte only on one creative process. Trying to make the understanding and organization of my path in the ACERT easier, I defined three phases on my traineeship: presentation and integration with the whole team; the street show Queima e Rebentamento do Judas; The fantastic adventure of a child called Pinóquio. This was my starting point to write about all I experienced and developed at ACERT, not only as an actress but also as a human being. ln an informal register, I describe on my report the process' most relevant moments, what I've learned with them and what has changed about myself.

/ABSTRACT: ln this dissertation is presented a study on The Marvão 's Dialect, a bordering district from Alto Alentejo, with a low demographic density, very old population and a rate of illiteracy above the national and regional average. This study is composed by five chapters. ln the two first chapters, are presented the dialectological studies, which took place in the district of Portalegre, and there is also characterized the district of Marvão. The study of the dialect is developed along the three main chapters, which are dedicated to the phonetic, phonologic, morphologic and syntactic aspects, as well as the lexicon related to the human being. The Marvão 's dialect is integrated in the centre-meridional portuguese dialects, specifically in the Beira Baixa and Alto Alentejo’s diversity, presenting the main characteristics identified in this dialectical region by the linguists of the XX century. However, it distinguishes itself by some particularities, which differentiate it from the dialects spoken in the surrounding districts, mainly on the level of some phonetic and phonologic aspects and the lexicon.

This paper presents a study related with measuring of radio frequency emissions. The purpose is to determine the level of interference generated by wireless power transfer equipment in a specific frequency range, and to compare those levels to the existing standards. The technology of wireless power transfer, especially for electric vehicles batteries charging, is rapidly developing in the recent years. An increasing use of this technology in industrial and consumer electronic products has raised concerns about the possible unfavorable health-effects onto the human being. Another concern is raised from the high intensity fields produced by wireless power transfer systems which will generate highly undesired influence on other electrical and electronic equipment. As a protection against the potential health effects, the governments imposed limits on the occupational and general public exposure to the radio frequencies. These limitations are set out in national and international safety guidelines, standards and regulations. The measurement and evaluation of the human exposure to electromagnetic fields are essential to guarantee occupational and general public safety.

ABSTRACT: The present study is based upon the Phenomenological Methodology, with field and bibliographic research. It presents as a main objective the analysis on how the teaching and learning educational process develop upon the reading skills, as well as the encouragement and practice of reading in students of young ages in private schools in Belém, state of Pará (Brazil), in fourth grade groups, in elementary school. Having set specific goals, the search is centered in the practical reading ability matter, and if such ability is of linguistic code development solely learned or the search of not only the decoding process, without taking in consideration the broadening aspects, such as text comprehension, targeting the active reader especially when it comes to the author's ideas. Such discussion regarding the reading learning process in elementary levels in private schools in Belém, state of Para (Brazil) is questioned by field research, teachers, students and the coordination, using as data collecting instruments, questionnaires with open and closed questions, interviews and focal groups. Along the study, regarding the formation of young readers, it requires some aspects, such as, the choice of good titles and in-class stimulating activities or even outdoor ones, so the students - especially the ones in the initial phase of learning- are and feel prepared and even conscious of the importance of the reading for their critical thinking- as a future citizen. Therefore, the factors that may interfere in the reading process, for instance, varied titles, stories that verse towards the cultural imaginary, texts directed to the young public, that awaken the interest of the student body, beyond the linguistic codes acquired in the texts, not obtaining the interpreting criteria that it might evoke. The reading is, by the society, a fundamental factor that might lead the human being to discovering new standards and social horizons, but only going further the typical mechanisms in presenting the texts in class, is when the teacher may reach the whole levels of comprehension of the written system, teaching how to read, with fundamental elements to the initial reading in elementary school.

Until the middle of the XVIII Century, children were considered as miniature adults, but with Jean Jacob Rousseau the study of the development of the human being was started and the foundation was set up for the new science of Paidology (the study of children), wich focuses on the different intellectual and physical conflicts which children face, and also for other sciencies such as Paidofilaxis, Pueroculture and Pediatrics. The Society of Nations, created, in 1919, the Consultancy for the Trafficking of Women and the Protection of Children, and in Geneva, the International Union for Aid was founded in 1920. In Argentina, the First American Congress for Children was organized in 1916, and others followed. The first Declaration of Childrens Right was proclaimed in 1924 and then followed the first Ten Commandments of Childrens Rights. In Costa Rica in 1929, a project was presented for the Constitutional Congress to establish an institution for the protection of children, wich was duly enacted into law in 1930 with the name of National Institution for the Protection of Children (Patronato Nacional de la Infancia, PANI) whose duty was to oversee the welfare of minors and their physical, intellectual, moral and emotional development. In 1930, the first Declaration of the Rights for Costarrican Children was proclaimed. The creation of the PANI, the declaration of Childrens Rights, and the enactment of a Code for Infants (1932), constitute the three events that signal Costa Rica as one of the pioneers countries in Latin American and the World, in the protectionof children and mothers. At the end of the article, some of the crucial events that have happened during the decades that PANI has been working in the country are analized.

The dominant development system with its neoliberal policies and market-centered approaches contribute to aggravate the socio-environmental problems, under the context of the globalization of the market. For that reason, the concern about the sustainable development of the environment makes highly necessary the structuring of an environmental education that forms and informs about this problem. As a result, environmental education constitutes the educational process that deals with the relation between the human being and his/her environment (natural and man-made) and with itself, as well as the effects caused by this relation. In this way, environmental education must constitute an integral process, which plays its role throughout the whole teaching and learning intertwinement. For this reason it is necessary to establish an educational process that examines the relation of any topic or human being activity, within an analysis of the importance or incidence on social life, as it is the pedagogical part and its political essence.

AbstractThe identity of a person, adults or children, is a set of characteristics that distinguish that human being. Traits that will strengthen one’s own identity are erected from childhood to advanced adulthood; mostof these features are acquired at an early age and therefore, they should not only be delimited by the right minors have of their own and state protected identity, but also, their rights of identity formationshould be assessed and enforced.
