Bianchi identities for an N=2, d=5 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory on the group manifold

The purpose of this note is the construction of a geometrical structure for a supersymmetric N = 2, d = 5 Yang-Mills theory on the group manifold. From a general hypothesis proposed for the curvatures of the theory, the Bianchi identities are solved, whose solution will be fundamental for the construction of the geometrical action for the N = 2, d = 5 supergravity and Yang-Mills coupled theory.

A (trans)formação vivencial: a práxis educativa e a formação para docência frente o papel das narrativas

This work by questioning the methodology and curriculum standardization and the separation between theory and practice, both of the top training courses for educators and schools in general, proposes to investigate, through action research, writing and analysis of narratives drawn from the author's experiences as a volunteer educator for a Brazilian educational project inspired by the experience of the Portugal's Escola da Ponte, the (trans)formation of educators in educational praxis, ie, the training that is not represented in formatting. Experiences, reflections and analyzes developed are in line to share new possibilities in the training of education professionals to effectively contribute to the methodological and curricular flexibility and with no dissociation between practice and theory present in current and anachronistic higher education courses educators, as well as the vast majority of elementary schools, both public and private and secondary levels

Music at the Fair! The Trans- Mississippi and International Exposition. An Interactive Website

“Music at the Fair!” gives the daily musical programs for The Trans-Mississippi and International Exposition, held in Omaha, Nebraska, June 1 through October 31, 1898. The Trans-Mississippi and International Exposition brought an unprecedented array of local, national, and international musical acts to Omaha, NE in 1898. This served to designate Omaha, "the gateway to the west" as a musical hub, as well as to incite musical excitement in the region. Some of the more popular acts featured were the Theodore Thomas Orchestra, the U.S. Marine Band, and the Apollo Club of Chicago. Many more groups and their musical programs can be found within the pages of this site. The “Music at the Fair!” website was created by Grace Carey, and last revised on May 19, 2006.It is the result of a two- year research grant funded by an Undergraduate Creative Activities and Research Experiences (UCARE) grant through the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. It is an extension of an ongoing project on music at the TME by Music Professor Peter Lefferts. The primary sources of information for the site are the following newspapers from June – November 1898: The Omaha Daily Bee, the Omaha Evening Bee, and the Omaha World Herald, and the the official programs of the fair located in the archives at the Omaha Public Library. The complex construction of psychological identities in Palestine: Integrating narratives and life experiences

Palestinian youth is challenged by multiple discourses in the process of constitution of its identity. This discursive multiplicity, characteristic of contemporary global societies, is confronted with personal life experiences, giving meaning to primarily nebulous affective impacts in the social environment. Starting from a semiotic-cultural perspective in cultural psychology one can establish a link between the notion of master narrative used by Hammack (2010) and the notion of myth-using the conception of ideology as a bridge that articulates both. Antinomies in the self-biographic narratives presented and discussed by Hammack (2010) support the master narrative of Palestinian identity and enter into interactions with other psychological identities of the interviewed youngsters, such as their religious tradition and secular education. Symbolic elements that are brought to the identity-making process by the diverse narratives are to be seen as resources for the comprehension of life experiences, demanding an integrative effort in the face of what is known and unknown in relation to alterity.

Temperature Effect on the Two-Photon Absorption Spectrum of All-trans-beta-carotene

In this report, we investigate the influence of temperature on the two-photon absorption (2PA) spectrum of all-trans-beta-carotene using the femtosecond white-light-continuum Z-scan technique. We observed that the 2PA cross-section decreases quadratically with the temperature. Such effect was modeled using a three-energy-level diagram within the sum-over-essential states approach, assuming temperature dependencies to the transition dipole moment and refractive index of the solvent. The results show that the transition dipole moments from ground to excited state and between the excited states, which governed the two-photon matrix element, have distinct behaviors with the temperature. The first one presents a quadratic dependence, while the second exhibits a linear dependence. Such effects were attributed mainly to the trans -> cis thermal interconversion process, which decreases the effective conjugation length, contributing to diminishing the transition dipole moments and, consequently, the 2PA cross-section.

Cis-trans isomerization in the syntheses of ruthenium cyclam complexes with nitric oxide

The cis to trans isomerizations during the syntheses of trans-[Ru(NO)(OH)(cyclam)](PF6)(2), from cis-[RuCl2 (cyclam)]Cl, and [Ru(NO)Cl(cyclam)] (PF6)(2), from cis-[RuCl2(dmso)(4)], are reported. The novel trans-[Ru(NO) (OH)(cyclam)](PF6)(2) complex was characterized by X-ray crystallography and vibrational infrared and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopies. The Ru-N-O bond angle (176.75 degrees) and v( NO) (1835 cm(-1)) suggest a nitrosonium character for this hydroxo complex. The crystal and molecular structure of trans-[Ru(NO)Cl(cyclam)] (ClO4)(2)center dot 2 H2O is also reported. Higher identities for the ternary commutator

We use computer algebra to study polynomial identities for the trilinear operation [a, b, c] = abc - acb - bac + bca + cab - cba in the free associative algebra. It is known that [a, b, c] satisfies the alternating property in degree 3, no new identities in degree 5, a multilinear identity in degree 7 which alternates in 6 arguments, and no new identities in degree 9. We use the representation theory of the symmetric group to demonstrate the existence of new identities in degree 11. The only irreducible representations of dimension <400 with new identities correspond to partitions 2(5), 1 and 2(4), 1(3) and have dimensions 132 and 165. We construct an explicit new multilinear identity for partition 2(5), 1 and we demonstrate the existence of a new non-multilinear identity in which the underlying variables are permutations of a(2)b(2)c(2)d(2)e(2) f.

Optomechanical trans-to-cis and cis-to-trans isomerization and unusual photophysical behavior of fac-[Re(CO)(3)(phen)(CNstpy)](+)

Unusual high photoassisted quantum yields for cis-to-trans (phi(254) (nm) = 0.27 +/- 0.05) isomerization of CNstpy coordinated to fac-[Re(CO)(3)(phen)(CNstpy)](+) were determined along with trans-to-cis ones (phi(313) (nm)= 0.58 +/- 0.02; phi(365) (nm)= 0.61 +/- 0.06; phi(404) (nm) = 0.42 +/- 0.02). Additionally, in contrast to other similar rhenium(I) complexes, the cis photoproduct is quasi non-emissive and comparable to the trans-complex. The cis-to-trans photoisomerization is due to the deactivation from the ILcis-CNstpy excited state in competition to the usual (MLCTRe -> phen)-M-3 luminescence. These efficient cis to trans and trans to cis photoisomerization can be conveniently used in light powered molecular machines. (C) 2012 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Special identities for Bol algebras

Bol algebras appear as the tangent algebra of Bol loops. A (left) Bol algebra is a vector space equipped with a binary operation [a, b] and a ternary operation {a, b, c} that satisfy five defining identities. If A is a left or right alternative algebra then A(b) is a Bol algebra, where [a, b] := ab - ba is the commutator and {a, b, c} := < b, c, a > is the Jordan associator. A special identity is an identity satisfied by Ab for all right alternative algebras A, but not satisfied by the free Bol algebra. We show that there are no special identities of degree <= 7, but there are special identities of degree 8. We obtain all the special identities of degree 8 in partition six-two. The identities of the Brazilian female athlete: the "points of temporary attachment" of women in sports

The aim of this study is to analyze the formation of the Brazilian Olympic female athletes' identities and the construction of this social role both in the Olympic scene as in Brazilian social context. The results, when compared with previous researches and the theoretical approach allows to conclude that even after inclusion of the growing Brazilian women in several sports - including pointing out that this did not occur in the form of confrontation, just as in other countries - this does not represent a rethinking of the social roles of the female and male letting to the athletes maintain a separation between sports life and life as a woman.

Design, synthesis and the effect of 1,2,3-triazole sialylmimetic neoglycoconjugates on Trypanosoma cruzi and its cell surface trans-sialidase

This work describes the synthesis of a series of sialylmimetic neoglycoconjugates represented by 1,4-disubstituted 1,2,3-triazole-sialic acid derivatives containing galactose modified at either C-1 or C-6 positions, glucose or gulose at C-3 position, and by the amino acid derivative 1,2,3-triazole fused threonine-3-O-galactose as potential TcTS inhibitors and anti-trypanosomal agents. This series was obtained by Cu(I)-catalysed azide-alkyne cycloaddition reaction ('click chemistry') between the azido-functionalized sugars 1-N(3)-Gal (commercial), 6-N(3)-Gal, 3-N(3)-Glc and 3-N(3)-Gul with the corresponding alkyne-based 2-propynyl-sialic acid, as well as by click chemistry reaction between the amino acid N(3)-ThrOBn with 3-O-propynyl-GalOMe. The 1,2,3-triazole linked sialic acid-6-O-galactose and the sialic acid-galactopyranoside showed high Trypanosoma cruzi trans-sialidase (TcTS) inhibitory activity at 1.0 mM (approx. 90%), whilst only the former displayed relevant trypanocidal activity (IC(50) 260 mu M). These results highlight the 1,2,3-triazole linked sialic acid-6-O-galactose as a prototype for further design of new neoglycoconjugates against Chagas' disease. (C) 2011 Elsevier Ltd. Fatty acid profile, trans-octadecenoic, alpha-linolenic and conjugated linoleic acid contents differing in certified organic and conventional probiotic fermented milks

Development of dairy organic probiotic fermented products is of great interest as they associate ecological practices and benefits of probiotic bacteria. As organic management practices of cow milk production allow modification of the fatty acid composition of milk (as compared to conventional milk), we studied the influence of the type of milk on some characteristics of fermented milks, such as acidification kinetics. bacterial counts and fatty acid content. Conventional and organic probiotic fermented milks were produced using Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis HN019 in co-culture with Streptococcus thermophilus TA040 and Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus LB340. The use of organic milk led to a higher acidification rate and cultivability of Lactobacillus bulgaricus. Fatty acids profile of organic fermented milks showed higher amounts of trans-octadecenoic acid (C18:1, 1.6 times) and polyunsaturated fatty acids, including cis-9 trans-11. C18:2 conjugated linoleic (CLA-1.4 times), and alpha-linolenic acids (ALA-1.6 times), as compared to conventional fermented milks. These higher levels were the result of both initial percentage in the milk and increase during acidification, with no further modification during storage. Finally, use of bifidobacteria slightly increased CLA relative content in the conventional fermented milks, after 7 days of storage at 4 degrees C, whereas no difference was seen in organic fermented milks.
