L'interès del present projecte rau en la identificació de formes pròpies de l'argot català difoses a través de les sèries de ficció de producció pròpia de la cadena de televisió autonòmica catalana. Així, en aquest treball pretenem respondre bàsicament dues qüestions: d'una banda, si les sèries de ficció de producció pròpia de TV3, i en aquest cas Plats bruts, contribueixen a difondre l'argot català; i de l'altra, si l'existència d'un argot pròpiament català (és a dir, creat a partir de recursos de la llengua catalana) és mostra de la bona salut de la llengua.

Background. Obesity is considered a major public health issue in most developed countries nowadays. This paper provides an overview of current population data available in Spain and the approach to develop preventive strategies in the country. Methods. Review of population data available is based on individually measured weight and height as well as determinants. On this basis, the approach used in the country to develop preventive strategies is discussed. Results. According to the DORICA study, the prevalence of obesity (BMI ≥30 kg m−2) is 15.5% in Spanish adults aged 25–60 years (13.2% in men and 17.5% in women). Obesity rates are higher among women aged 45 years and older, low social class, living in semi-urban places. Population estimates for the prevalence of obesity in Spanish children and young people based on the enKid study are 13.9% for the whole group. In this study, overweight and obesity is related to absence of breastfeeding, low consumption of fruit and vegetables, high consumption of cakes, buns, softdrinks and butchery products, low physical activity levels and a positive association with time spent watching TV. In 2005, the Spanish Ministry of Health jointly with the Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition launched the multifaceted NAOS strategy for nutrition, physical activity and the prevention of obesity. The important role of the family and the school setting as well as the responsibility of the Health Administration and Pediatric Care in the prevention of obesity is highlighted in the document. The need for environmental actions is recognised. The PERSEO programme, a multicomponent school-based intervention project is part of the strategy currently in place. Conclusion. Obesity is a public health issue in Spain. A national multifaceted strategy was launched to counteract the problem. Environmental and policy actions are a priority. Young children and their families are among the main target groups.

Aquest article estudia el documental històric amb la intenció de confrontar alguna de les controvèrsies que han sorgit sobre la idea de la reconstrucció històrica en el camp del cinema i de la televisió. El primer punt plantejat consisteix en l’actualització de la idea proposada per Marc Ferro de que cada pel•lícula és un document de mentalitats, partint de dues idees bàsiques: primer, que el cinema, a més de ser un document, té una història com a producte artístic i segon, que la documentació del passat ha de dur-se a terme sense caure en el que Tzevan Todorov diu els abusos de la memòria. El segon punt té a veure amb el problema de com la història és modificada donada la percepció que tenim de ella des d’un punt particular al present. Finalment, entra en el tema de la ètica amb la intenció de fer front al problema de les limitacions de l’acte de mostrar en un moment històric particular en que aquesta mostra ha estat transformada en una forma de banalització

L'objectiu principal del projecte és l'obtenció d'un model que faci possible la predicció de les afectacionsdels parcs eòlics sobre els serveis de televisió tant analògica com digital. Perquè això sigui possible elpresent projecte pretén assolir els punts següents: 1. Estudi de les diferents fonts d'interferència que poden ocasionar els aerogeneradors, principalmentsobre els elements encarregats de la difusió del senyal de televisió. Aquest estudi es centraen l'anàlisi i detecció dels problemes en recepció de televisió analògica i digital. 2. Desenvolupament d'una metodologia que faci possible la predicció de les afectacions dels parcseòlics sobre els serveis de televisió analògica i digital i l'estudi de la seva viabilitat mitjançantmesures sobre el terreny on es té coneixement d'afectacions provocades per parcs eòlics. 3. Estudi tecno-econòmic dels costos aproximats d'implantació de les diferents solucions per reduirles afectacions i comparació econòmica entre la implantació de solucions prèvies i posteriors a laconstrucció del parc.

Assessment of eating habits in young children from multicultural backgrounds has seldom been conducted. Our objectives were to study the reproducibility and the results of a food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) developed to assess changes in eating habits of preschool children with a high migrant population, in the context of a multidisciplinary multilevel lifestyle intervention. Three kindergarten classes (53% from migrant backgrounds) in French-speaking Switzerland were randomly selected and included 16 girls and 28 boys (mean age +/- SD, 5.4 +/- 0.7 years). The FFQ was filled out twice within a 4-week interval by the parents. Spearman rank correlations between the first and the second FFQ for the 39 items of the food questions were as follows: low (r < 0.50) for 8 (7 P < .05 and 1 nonsignificant), moderate (0.50 <or= r < 0.70) for 22 (all P < .01), and high (r >or= 0.70) for 9 (all P < .01). In addition, 28 of 39 intraclass correlation coefficients were high (>0.50, all P < .01). Eighty-six percent of the children ate breakfast at home daily, but only 67% had lunch at home. The percentages of children eating at least once a week in front of the TV were as follows: 50% for breakfast, 33% for lunch, 38% for dinner, and 48% for snacks. Forty percent of children asked their parents to buy food previously seen in advertisements and ate fast food between once a week and once a month. Children generally consumed foods with a high-energy content. The FFQ yielded good test-retest reproducibility for most items of the food questions and gave relevant findings about the eating habits of preschool children in areas with a high migrant population.

L’experiència de crear, en format televisiu, un programa de difusió històrica per part d’una televisió local resulta altament interessant, perquè ofereix continguts d’àmbit més proper a un públic que difícilment té accés a la seva història des del sector audiovisual. Tots els principis continguts en la proposta científica d’utilitzar les imatges com a transmissores de coneixements i de cultura, convergeixen en el projecte de creació, per part de Televisió de Girona, del programa L’espiral de la història, atès que resulta una excel·lent mostra de la conjunció de diverses tipologies documentals posades al servei d’un objectiu: la difusió de la història de la ciutat de Girona a través del llenguatge audiovisual

Spectators play a fundamental role in sports events because they co-create value with the athletes, and they can provide substantial revenues for the organisers. This is even more the case for the Olympic Games, as was strikingly illustrated by London 2012. Although most people see the Games on television, the Olympics need large numbers of flesh-and-blood spectators and fans to encourage and applaud the Olympians and to create the festive atmosphere that is such an important part of Olympic competitions. Spectators can transform simple sporting competitions between athletes into spectacles that generate strong emotions. In the arena provided by the organisers, they create with the athletes an event that is worthy of being reported by the media. Coubertin was himself convinced that knowledgeable spectators are essential to obtaining high levels of performance, while regretting that stadiums had (already) become too big (Coubertin 2000: 184 and 199).

This thesis has been conducted in the context of a lifestyle intervention in 40 Swiss kindergarten classes in the cantons St. Gallen and Vaud, in areas with a high migrant prevalence (Ballabeina study). The main objective of this work was to fill certain gaps of the literature and to bring a better understanding of the risk factors of overweight and obesity and their determinants in preschool children. Our data show that parental migrant status and educational level influence independently of each other adiposity and/or eating habits in these children. In addition, sports club participation at this young age seems to be a better indicator of healthy lifestyle characteristics in terms of physical activity, sedentary behaviour and eating habits than weight status. Finally, we found that in this population higher scores of hyperactivity/inattention are associated with lower adiposity and with both healthy (more physical activity and less sedentary activity) and unhealthy (more television viewing and more unhealthy eating habits) lifestyle characteristics. Thus, our findings can be used by different actors of health and education system to better target their preventive actions and can serve as a basis for future complementary researches. - Cette thèse a été réalisée dans le cadre d'un projet de promotion de la santé mené dans 40 classes enfantines suisses issues de régions à forte prévalence migrante des cantons de St. Gall et de Vaud (étude Ballabeina). L'objectif principal de ce travail était de combler certaines lacunes de la littérature et d'approfondir nos connaissances sur les facteurs de risque du surpoids et de l'obésité et de leurs déterminants chez les enfants d'âge préscolaire. Nos analyses montrent que le statut de migrant des parents et leur niveau d'éducation influencent indépendamment l'un de l'autres l'adiposité et les habitudes alimentaires chez ces enfants. De plus, à ce jeune âge la participation dans un club de sport semble être un meilleur indicateur de style de vie sain en termes d'activité physique, de comportements sédentaires et d'habitudes alimentaires que le statut pondéral. Nous avons également trouvé que dans cette population, un score plus élevé d'hyperactivité/inattention est associé aussi bien à des caractéristiques de style de vie saines (plus d'activité physique, moins d'activité sédentaire) que malsaines (plus de consommation de télévision et moins bonnes habitudes alimentaire. Ainsi, nos résultats peuvent aider les différents acteurs de la santé et de l'éducation à mieux cibler leurs actions de prévention et servir de base à de futures recherches complémentaires.

En este artículo se aportan algunos de los resultados preliminares de mi tesis doctoral: “Las políticas públicas de la televisión digital terrestre en la Unión Europea. Estudio comparado de Suecia y España”. Mediante el análisis de las estructuras institucionales implicadas en la transición analógico-digital de la plataforma de difusión terrestre, sus lógicas legitimadoras y las estrategias desarrolladas, se pretende contribuir a la identificación de buenas prácticas y de factores clave de éxito que ayuden a diseñar políticas públicas más efectivas.

Purpose: To compare the sexual behavior of adolescent males who do and do not watch pornographic websites. Methods: This study was presented as a school survey. Data were drawn from the 2002 Swiss Multicenter Adolescent Survey on Health (SMASH02) database, a survey including 7,548 adolescents age 16-20. The setting was post-mandatory schools in Switzerland. A total of 2,891 male students who connected to the internet in the last 30 days were enrolled and distributed into two groups: boys who deliberately watched pornographic websites in the last 30 days (n ¼ 942; 33%) and boys who did not (n ¼ 1,949; 67%). Socio-demographic characteristics; frequency of connection to the internet; sexual behavior parameters (having a girlfriend and if yes, for more or less than 6 months; having had sexual intercourse; age at first sexual intercourse; use of a condom at last sexual intercourse; number of sexual partners; having made a partner pregnant). Results: A logistic regression was performed using STATA 9.2. The only significant socio-demographic variable was having a low socioeconomic status (adjusted odds ratio [AOR] 1.66); no difference was found for age and academic track between the two groups. Boys who watch pornographic websites were also significantly more likely to connect frequently to the internet (one day a week: AOR 1.75; several days a week: AOR 2.36; every day: AOR 3.11), to have had sexual intercourse (AOR 2.06), and to have had their first sexual intercourse before age 15 (AOR 1.48). The stability of the relationship with their girlfriend did not appear to have any influence on the search for pornography on the internet. Conclusions: About one third of boys in our sample report having accessed pornographic websites in the last 30 days, a proportion similar to other studies. Watching such websites increases with the frequency of connection to the internet and seems to be correlated with an earlier sexual activity debut among adolescent males. However, having had first sexual intercourse before age 15 is the only sexual risk behavior that seems to be increased when watching pornographic websites among boys. Further studies should address the causality of this correlation and the factors influencing the search for pornography on the web among boys, in order to explore some new ways of prevention about sexual risk behaviors. Movie distribution on the Internet has become more common in recent years along with fast broadband internet connections. The problem so far has been that the greatest part of movie distribution on the Internet has been illegal. This is about to change because the major film distributors are finally starting to rent and sell movies more and more on the Internet due to their growing confidence in new copy protection methods. The importance of movie online distribution to the movie industry is still tiny but it is increasing rapidly as is investing in new business models and distribution methods in the USA and Europe. This thesis examines the basic concepts of online movie distribution, such as distribution techniques and copy protection, the main companies that rent and sell movies on the internet and their business models, the effects of movie piracy and non-commercial distribution channels. The intention was to provide the reader with an overview of different aspects of movie distribution on the Internet and its future. The conclusion was that movie distribution on the Internet will play a bigger financial part in the future although it was still too early to say just how significant that will be. We will probably see many corresponding distribution techniques, like peer-to-peer networks and streaming servers distributing and broadcasting movies to different end-user platforms like television, PC and portable media players. Internet distribution of movies will not revolutionize movie distribution in the next couple of years but it will make possible new efficient and inexpensive ways to distribute movies globally which will in turn increase the possibilities for revenue, especially for small independent movie producers and distributors.

This thesis contains two parts: documentary Refugee Child (Evakkolapsi) and written thesis. The written thesis screens how pre-productional decisions made by producer and director can influence the content of the documentary. The documentary film is first approached from the historical and theoretical point of view. The documentary Refugee Child is evaluated, especially from the producers point of view. The effect of the productional decisions to the content in the Refugee Child are evaluated. The word documentary film has multiple different meanings and it is beeing used in various contexts. There is numerous opinions about what is the difference between a documentary film and a television documentary. The people in the audiovisual field and the channel networks seem to use the word documentary about very different kinds of films. In order to understand the difficulty of this definition the history of the documentary film and the devicion of Bill Nichols' six modes is shortly viewed. Focusing on the pre-production of documentary is rewarding. There is various altering factors in the production of the documentary. The producer and director should be prepared both technically and substancially.

Product placement has become more and more common in Finnish television programmes lately. Product placement, as with the whole of the television industry, is strictly regulated and monitored by law. Surreptitious advertising, sponsorship, cooperative partnerships and product placement are often confused with each other. Partially these activities are interpenetrative. Present legislation doesn't recognise product placement, therefore it doesn't have any specific position in law, thus causing problems. Product placement in domestic tv-programmes is still relatively modest. More extensive activity is perceivable at the movies where the restrictions are considerably more liberal. In the United States, product placement is a part of a production's budget. Pressure to increase financing has grouwn in both Finland and Europe. There has been considerable preparation in advance of a new television directive in the European Union which would allow more liberal advertising and product placement as a part of financing tv-programmes. The proposal for a new directive is currently only on its first round so product placement probably won't become better defined in law in the near future. Finnish television producers were interviewed as part of the research for this thesis, in order to clarify product placement position and usage in domestic televion programmes. Surreptitious advertising, sponsorship, different kinds of cooperative partnerships and the need for guidance were also discussed in the course of the themed interviews. Even though product placement does not currently play a significant part in the financing of a production, there are certainly pressures in that direktion. In the field of television, the legal boundaries of product placement are presently being explored in order to assess its position as a part of budgeting and covering expenses.

The present thesis deals with the reception of the celebrity profiles of the MTV3 news current affairs program "45 minuuttia". The target group of the research consists of young adults between the ages from 25 to 34 living in the Helsinki metropolitan area. The research is qualitative and it studies the target group's opinions of the program profiles by the means of a survey and a group interview. In the group interview, the interviewees were also presented sample clips of the program. The results of the survey were analyzed mainly quantitatively. The purpose of the survey results was to map the viewing habits of the target group. In analyzing the results of the group, the interview methods of feedback research and cultural audience research were used. The current thesis was a commissioned research, the purpose of which was to study how interested the young adults are in the program. In addition, the aim was also to find out possible new trends and approaches for the producer of the program. In contrary to the expectations, the reason for the low interest in the profiles seemed to be due to the approach taken to the topics, e.g. the profiled person. By the approach I mean how the person is visually presented or how the person is verbally described. Many people presented in the profiles were regarded as interesting, but at the same time, the way the stories were told was hoped to be more versatile. In addition, a more contemporary visual approach was hoped for. The results also verified the claim that the young adults in general are not interested in the current affair programmes. In addition, these results suggested that in order to obtain more precise information of the viewing preferences of the audience, a more thorough study should be conducted.
