Ús de l'entorn virtual LAMS per a la creació de seqüències didàctiques col·laboratives i personalitzables

LAMS (Learning Activity Management System), com a projecte de programari lliure basat en tecnologies web, va ser alliberat a la comunitat d'usuaris i desenvolupadors el Febrer del 2005, des d'aquesta data fins avui s'han produït una sèrie d'avenços i innovacions que ha permès fer extensiu l'ús d'aquest entorn a persones amb pocs coneixements de programació i relacionades amb la pedagogia i el disseny instruccional. La investigació portada a terme ha permès a un grup d'investigadors de la Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) aprofundir en el disseny instruccional de seqüències didàctiques amb LAMS potenciant dos aspectes clau, el treball col·laboratiu virtual i també la personalització de l'aprenentatge per part de l'estudiant. Durant la recerca es va elaborar una guia de disseny instruccional per implementar activitats didàctiques amb LAMS que tinguin les dos característiques anteriorment descrites, i va servir com a referència per portar a terme una prova pilot amb estudiants de la universitat per tal de valorar el seu grau de satisfacció amb el procés d'aprenentatge mitjançant l'ús de l'entorn virtual LAMS. L'estudi revela un elevat grau de satisfacció en quant als dos factors examinats, d'una banda, els estudiants consideren que les activitats proporcionades afavoreixen la construcció de coneixement col·lectiu i, d'altra banda, també consideren que és molt positiu que es pugui personalitzar l'aprenentatge mitjançant l'elecció de les activitats a fer per adquirir una competència específica.

TFC JEE : Gestor documental

El present TFC es basa en la creació d'una aplicació web que permeti tant a entitats locals com a particulars, la gestió completa d'un arxiu de documents, utilitzant la tecnologia JEE pròpia de Java, i més concretament del framwork Spring així el programari resultant esdevé més robust, escalable, reutilitzable i senzill d'implementar i mantenir.

Botiga on-line 2.0 : ad. web i comerç electrònic en entorns de programari lliure

El present projecte tracta de la realització d'una botiga on­line amb característiques Web 2.0 utilitzant en tot moment solucions de programari lliure. La solució triada per a la implementació del nostre projecte descarta el desenvolupament total i complet del projecte, és a dir la realització d'una web programada totalment a mida, i passa per l'adaptació d'un CMS (programa per a l'administració i gestió dels continguts d'una web) als requisits de la nostra botiga.

Gestió del Coneixement

A partir de l'anàlisi organitzativa de l'empresa King-eclient i la detecció de mancances relatives a la gestió de la informació i del coneixement, aquest treball vol dissenyar un sistema de gestió dels recursos d'informació per tal de gestionar i distribuir els recursos d'informació més representatius i operatius disponibles a Internet que cobreixin les necessitats d'informació a King-eclient i que puguin convertir-se en coneixement organitzatiu.

Open to the users' needs : combining user-centered design, standards and open source software

This case study introduces our continuous work to enhance the virtual classroom in order to provide faculty and students with an environment open to their needs, compliant with learning standards and, therefore compatible with other e-learning environments, and based on open source software. The result is a modulable, sustainable and interoperable learning environment that can be adapted to different teaching and learning situations by incorporating the LMS integrated tools as well as wikis, blogs, forums and Moodle activities among others.

Conversation is the Key : A Short History of Smarthistory.org

Smarthistory.org is a proven, sustainable model for open educational resources in the Humanities. We discuss lessons learned during its agile development. Smarthistory.org is a free, creative-commons licensed, multi-media web-book designed as a dynamic enhancement or substitute for the traditional art history textbook. It uses conversation instead of the impersonal voice of the typical textbook in-order to reveal disagreement, emotion, and the experience of looking. The listener remains engaged with both the content and the interaction of the speakers. These conversations model close looking and a willingness to encounter and engage the unfamiliar. Smarthistory takes the inherent dialogic and multimedia nature of the web and uses it as a pedagogical method. This extendable Humanities framework uses an open-source content management system making Smarthistory inexpensive to create, and easy to manage and update. Its chronological timeline/chapter-based format integrates new contributions into a single historical framework, a structure applicable across the Humanities.

Drupal para consulta conjunta de repositorios

El taller tracta sobre la integració d'un gestor de continguts amb els dipòsits institucionals o sobre com oferir serveis 2.0 sense dependre d'infraestructures associades a cada un dels dipòsits. Des d'aquí es pretén abordar tota la problemàtica existent a l'hora d'afegir funcionalitats no inherents als propis dipòsits i com els gestors de continguts més avançats ens ofereixen una oportunitat per solucionar-lo.

Intranet de gestión documental

Aquest projecte es basa en la creació d'una intranet de gestió documental personalitzada i adequada a les necessitats de l'empresa. És una eina basada en la comunicació de l'empresa amb els treballadors des de qualsevol part del mon y per sobre de tot, en qualsevol moment, amb un accés ràpid, senzill i útil. Amb una programació web ampliable i optimitzable. Tot això seguint les regles marcades per als procediments ISO9001 i EN9100.

Estudio sobre la interoperabilidad de Moodle con herramientas externas

Se describe en este proyecto la necesidad de integración de herramientas en un Learning Management System (LMS), en nuestro caso Moodle, para mejorar la colaboración, reforzar y ampliar conocimiento, así como facilitar el desarrollo de la actividad docente al estar todas las herramientas centralizadas. Se realizará una comparación entre la utilización de servicios web, un framework y el estándar IMS-LTI.

Systematic Identification of High Crash Locations Final Report, 2001

Federal and state policy makers increasingly emphasize the need to reduce highway crash rates. This emphasis is demonstrated in Iowa’s recently released draft Iowa Strategic Highway Safety Plan and by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s placement of “improved transportation safety” at the top of its list of strategic goals. Thus, finding improved methods to enhance highway safety has become a top priority at highway agencies. The objective of this project is to develop tools and procedures by which Iowa engineers can identify potentially hazardous roadway locations and designs, and to demonstrate the utility of these tools by developing candidate lists of high crash locations in the State. An initial task, building an integrated database to facilitate the tools and procedures, is an important product, in and of itself. Accordingly, the Iowa Department of Transportation (Iowa DOT) Geographic Information Management System (GIMS) and Geographic Information System Accident Analysis and Location System (GIS-ALAS) databases were integrated with available digital imagery. (The GIMS database contains roadway characteristics, e.g., lane width, surface and shoulder type, and traffic volume, for all public roadways. GIS-ALAS records include data, e.g., vehicles, drivers, roadway conditions, and the crash severity, for crashes occurring on public roadways during then past 10 years.)

Tillage Manure Managemen and Water Quality, April 2005

Tillage and manure application practices significantly impact surface and ground water quality in Iowa and other Midwestern states. Tillage and manure application that incorporates residue and disturbs soil result in higher levels of soil erosion and surface runoff. Phosphorus and sediment loading are closely linked to the increase in soil erosion and surface water runoff. Manure application (i.e., injection or incorporation) reduces surface residue cover, which can worsen soil erosion regardless of the tillage management system being used. An integrated system approach to manure and tillage management is critical to ensure effi cient nutrient use and improvement of soil and water quality. Yksittäistuotannon ohjattavuusanalyysi

Tässä työssä tutkitaan Merima Oy:n tuotantolaitoksen toimintaa ohjattavuusanalyysillä. Työn tarkoituksena on etsiä potentiaalisia kehityskohteita yrityksen tuotannosta. Yrityksen tuotanto on muutospaineessa ja se tarvitsee kvantitatiivista informaatiota kehityksen suunnannäyttäjäksi. Työ aloitettiin jalostamalla yrityksen tuotannonohjausjärjestelmästä saatava data analysoitavaan muotoon. Tämän jälkeen päätettiin analyysityypeistä, joita työssä käytetään. Analyysivaiheessa jalostettu data saatettiin informoivaan muotoon, jonka jälkeen voitiin analysoida tuloksia ja tehdä johtopäätöksiä. Työn tuloksena saadaan joukko kehityskohteita, joihin kehityspanos tulisi fokusoida. Lisäksi raportin lopussa pohditaan keinoja kehityskohteiden parantamiseksi.

Evaluation of PostgreSQL replication and load balancing implementations

In this final project the high availability options for PostgreSQL database management system were explored and evaluated. The primary objective of the project was to find a reliable replication system and implement it to a production environment. The secondary objective was to explore different load balancing methods and compare their performance. The potential replication methods were thoroughly examined, and the most promising was implemented to a database system gathering weather information in Lithuania. The different load balancing methods were tested performance wise with different load scenarios and the results were analysed. As a result for this project a functioning PostgreSQL database replication system was built to the Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service's headquarters, and definite guidelines for future load balancing needs were produced. This study includes the actual implementation of a replication system to a demanding production environment, but only guidelines for building a load balancing system to the same production environment.

Kuljetus- ja maarakennusyrityksen ympäristöohjelma

Ympäristöohjelma on osa ympäristöjärjestelmää. Ympäristöohjelma sisältää käytännön toimenpiteet, joilla varmistetaan ympäristötavoitteiden saavuttaminen. Tavoitteiden saavuttamiseksi ympäristöohjelmaan määritetään myös tarvittavat vastuuhenkilöt, keinot, aikataulut, resurssit ja mittarit, joilla tavoitteita mitataan. Insinöörityön tarkoituksena oli laatia Esko Gustafsson Oy:lle ympäristöohjelma vuosille 2007 - 2009. Tavoitteena oli myös laatia käytännön ohjeistukset merkittävien ympäristönäkökohtien hallintaan. Työ aloitettiin tunnistamalla yrityksen toiminnat ja määrittelemällä toimintojen ympäristönäkökohdat. Tämän jälkeen arvioitiin yrityksen merkittävät ympäristönäkökohdat, joiden pohjalta ympäristöohjelma laadittiin. Työn tuloksena saatiin laadittua tehokas ympäristöohjelma. Ympäristöohjelma pystytään viemään läpi erittäin pienillä resursseilla. Jos ympäristöohjelman tavoitteet saadaan täytettyä, säästetään merkittävästi kustannuksissa.

A influência dos líderes no processo de mudança organizacional: um estudo de caso

Esta dissertação tem por objectivo avaliar a eficácia do processo de mudança organizacional, através das acções dos líderes, da empresa que lidera o mercado de telecomunicações em Cabo Verde, que foi objecto de um processo de reestruturação, que consistiu essencialmente na implementação de um Sistema de Gestão da Qualidade (SGQ). A implementação do referido sistema é entendida, nesta dissertação, como um modelo de mudança organizacional. Para atingir os objectivos preconizados, foi realizado um estudo de caso que contempla uma análise qualitativa dos documentos da empresa e de dados recolhidos através de entrevistas realizadas no período compreendido entre Fevereiro e Agosto de 2010. O estudo procurou compreender o contributo das práticas de liderança para a eficácia da gestão da qualidade. Nesta perspectiva, importa salientar que o tipo de liderança identificado neste estudo de caso é a liderança transformacional, que tecnicamente é o adequado quando se pretende implementar mudanças profundas e que implicam uma redefinição da missão, visão e valores da organização. Importa referir ainda que vários estudos empíricos têm demonstrado de forma consistente, uma relação positiva entre a liderança transformacional e os indicadores de eficiência no trabalho. Procurou-se entender ainda se os líderes na condução do processo de mudança organizacional da empresa estudada, seguiram o modelo proposto por John P. Kotter para a implementação eficaz de mudanças nas organizações, comparando os oito passos propostos pelo autor com os ocorridos na empresa. A avaliação deste estudo de caso permitiu concluir que a essência do modelo foi aplicado. This paper intended to assess the effectiveness of the process of organizational change, through the actions of the leaders of the company that leads the telecommunications market in Cape Verde, which was involved in a restructuration process, covering mainly the implementation of a Quality Management System (QMS). The implementation of this system is understood in this case, as a model of organizational change. To achieve the proposed goals, we performed a case study based on a qualitative analysis of corporate documents and data collected through interviews conducted between February 2010 and August 2010. This study tried to understand the role of leadership practices for the effectiveness of the quality management. In this perspective, it should be noted that the type of leadership identified in this case study is the transformational one, which, technically, is the appropriate when trying to implement significant change, which imply a redefinition of the mission, vision and values of the organization. It should be noted also that several empirical studies have consistently demonstrated a positive relationship between transformational leadership and the performance indicators in the workplace. We also tried to understand if the leaders, in driving the process of organizational change in the company studied, followed the model proposed by John P. Kotter for implementing effective change in organizations, by comparing the eight steps proposed by the author with those verified in the company. The assessment of this case study allowed us to conclude that the essence of the model is applicable to this case.
