This thesis pursuits to contextualize the theoretical debate between the implementation of public education policy of the Federal Government focused in a distance learning and legal foundations for its enforcement, in order to raise questions and comments on the topic in question. Its importance is back to provide scientific input and can offer to the academy, particularly in the UFRN, and elements of society to question and rethink the complex relationship between the socio-economic and geographic access to higher education. It consists of a descriptive study on the institutionalization of distance education in UFRN as a mechanism for expanding access to higher education, for both, the research seeks to understand if the distance undergraduate courses offered by the UAB system and implemented at UFRN, promote expanding access to higher education, as it is during implementation that the rules, routines and social processes are converted from intentions to action. The discussion of this study lasted between two opposing views of Implementation models: Top-down and Bottom-up. It is worth noting that the documents PNE, PDE and programs and UAB MEETING reflect positively in improving the educational level of the population of the country It is a qualitative study, using the means Bibliographic, Document and Field Study, where they were performed 04 (four) in 2010 interviews with the management framework SEDIS / UAB in UFRN. The data were analyzed and addressed through techniques: Document Analysis and Content Analysis. The results show that the process of implementation of distance education at UFRN is in progress. According to our results, the research objective is achieved, but there was a need to rethink the conditions of the infrastructure of poles, the structure of the academic calendar, the management of the SEDIS UFRN, regarding the expansion of existing vacancies and the supply of new courses by the need for a redesign as the Secretariat's ability to hold the offerings of undergraduate courses offered by the Federal Government to be implemented in the institution. It was also found that levels of evasion still presents a challenge to the teaching model. Given the context, we concluded that the greatest contribution of UAB and consequently UFRN by distance learning for undergraduate courses (Bachelor in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Geography and Biological Sciences, beyond the bachelor's degrees in Business and Public Administration ) is related to increasing the number of vacancies and accessibility of a population that was previously deprived of access to university

Research suggests that those suspected of sexual offending might be more willing to reveal information about their crimes if interviewers display empathic behaviour. However, the literature concerning investigative empathy is in its infancy, and so as yet is not well understood. This study explores empathy in a sample of real-life interviews conducted by police officers in England with suspected sex offenders. Using qualitative methodology, the presence and type of empathic verbal behaviours displayed was examined. Resulting categories were quantitatively analysed to investigate their occurrence overall, and across interviewer gender. We identified four distinct types of empathy, some of which were used significantly more often than others. Female interviewers displayed more empathic behaviour per se by a considerable margin.

This work addresses the study of interdisciplinarity in higher administration education, a topic of great relevance in the present context, due to guidelines issued by Ministry of Education through the National Curriculum Guidelines -NCGs for undergraduate courses in Management. The attention on the subject emerges from the gained experience of a researcher and teacher working as manager of an undergraduate course in Business Administration who set up interdisciplinarity through interdisciplinary projects in a management course pedagogical project at a private university in State of Par/Brazil. The work rebuilds and reports experiences, and studies the practice of lecturers involved in those interdisciplinary actions. The study aimed to identify changes in pedagogical practices of teachers involved in the searched interdisciplinary experience. To address the questions that directed the work and achieve proposed objectives, from a qualitative approach, a significant bibliographical and documentary work was conducted on the topic. In the survey carried out on secondary sources such as publications of major authors and scientific papers reporting interdisciplinary experiences in higher administration education, it was found that interdisciplinarity for its ambiguous character is still poorly understood by teachers, and reports on its application in administration teaching are incipient. This study also used data collected from primary sources, from dialogues through interviews with educational fellows - teachers and officers of the institution that served as locus of the research, who had the opportunity to experience the studied interdisciplinary experience. Data were processed and analyzed using content analysis technique. Research results showed that teachers of the institution of research have a good understanding of meaning of interdisciplinarity as a link between disciplines; it was also found substantial evidence of changes in teaching practices and actions of such teachers based on their participation in interdisciplinary projects. Although the experience studied can be considered innovative and challenging, much needs to be done in the course management for achievement of interdisciplinary actions in the course, particularly regarding to the removal of institutional, methodological, psychosocial, epistemological obstacles in operationalizing interdisciplinary practices, with emphasis on the need of a process of continuous and specific training aiming at developing skills for interdisciplinary acting, to the extent that these education professionals do not perceive themselves able to act as interdisciplinary lecturers

Any other technology has never affected daily life at this level and witnessed as speedy adaptation as the mobile phone. At the same time, mobile media has developed to be a serious marketing tool for all kinds of businesses, and the industry has grown explosively in recent years. The objective of this thesis is to inspect the mobile marketing process of an international event. This thesis is a qualitative case study. The chosen case for this thesis is the mobile marketing process of Falun2015 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships due to researchers interest on the topic and contacts to the people around the event. The empirical findings were acquired by conducting two interviews with three experts from the case organisation and its partner organisation. The interviews were performed as semi-structured interviews utilising the themes arising from the chosen theoretical framework. The framework distinguished six phases in the process: (i) campaign initiation, (ii) campaign design, (iii) campaign creation, (iv) permission management, (v) delivery, and (vi) evaluation and analysis. Phases one and five were not examined in this thesis because campaign initiation was not purely seen as part of the campaign implementation, and investigating phase five would have required a very technical viewpoint to the study. In addition to the interviews, some pre-established documents were exploited as a supporting data. The empirical findings of this thesis mainly follow the theoretical framework utilised. However, some modifications to the model could be made mainly related to the order of different phases. In the revised model, the actions are categorised depending on the time they should be conducted, i.e. before, during or after the event. Regardless of the categorisation, the phases can be in different order and overlapping. In addition, the business network was highly emphasised by the empirical findings and is thus added to the modified model. Five managerial recommendations can be concluded from the empirical findings of this thesis: (i) the importance of a business network should be highly valued in a mobile marketing process; (ii) clear goals should be defined for mobile marketing actions in order to make sure that everyone involved is aware them; (iii) interactivity should be perceived as part of a mobile marketing communication; (iv) enough time should be allowed for the development of a mobile marketing process in order to exploit all the potential it can offer; and (v) attention should be paid to measuring and analysing matters that are of relevance

num quadro internacional caracterizado pela crescente multi/interculturalidade das populaes escolares, que se inscreve o presente trabalho de investigao, que tem como tema a incluso da diversidade lingustica no ensino bsico, no contexto especfico da Escola Bsica com Jardim-de-infncia de Ammaia, situada no interior rural de Portugal, mais precisamente no Alto Alentejo. A pesquisa, alicerada no paradigma interpretativo, caracterizou-se por uma investigao de cariz qualitativo, mais precisamente um estudo de caso, que teve como principal fonte de recolha de dados as entrevistas em profundidade, realizadas a quatro docentes e a um encarregado de educao imigrante, as quais foram objecto de anlise de contedo posterior. Entre os objectivos do estudo encontravam-se a identificao de algumas respostas educativas organizadas pelas escolas, no mbito da sua autonomia, com vista a incluso dos alunos migrantes e dos principais factores de favorecimento e de obstruo incluso dos mesmos, na perspectiva e concepo dos mais directos intervenientes no processo, nomeadamente os professores e os pais ou encarregados de educao destes alunos. Da anlise e interpretao dos resultados ficou expresso o esforo que as comunidades educativas vm fazendo com vista a adaptarem-se incluso da multi/interculturalidade, designadamente a lingustica, no obstante as dificuldades com que se debatem, tais como a falta de formao da docente e a escassez de recursos para garantir o sucesso destes alunos. Alm disso, permitiu comprovar alguns dados apontados pela investigao, nomeadamente a disseminao desta populao por todo o territrio nacional e a generalizao da prtica denominada por desclassificao, atravs da colocao dos alunos em nveis inferiores aos que frequentavam no estrangeiro. Foi igualmente possvel apontar alguns dos factores que mais contribuiro para a sua incluso, dos quais se destaca o estabelecimento de relaes afectivas slidas por parte destes alunos com os seus pares e a necessidade de fazer uso de mtodos progressivos e flexveis, adaptados s necessidades e capacidades dos alunos, capazes de lhes garantirem um nvel adequado de proficincia da lngua portuguesa, enquanto factor essencial ao seu sucesso educativo. ABSTRACT: It is in an international context, characterized by the growing cultural, ethnical, linguistic diversity and other aspects of school populations, which lead educational communities to severe changes, that the present investigational work refers to, whose topic is the inclusion of language diversity in the basic teaching, in the specific context of Escola Bsica com Jardim de Infncia de Ammaia, located in the rural interior of Portugal, to be more accurate, in the North Alentejo region. The research, based on the interpretational paradigm, is characterized by a qualitative investigation, more precisely in a case study, which had as a main source of data gathering the interviews done to four teachers and an immigrant parent, which were subjected to posterior content analysis. Among the aims of the study were the identification of some educational responses organized by schools, in the extent of its autonomy, regarding the inclusion of migrant pupils and the main favoring and obstruction factors to the inclusion of these same pupils, in the perspective, conception and comprehension of the most direct intervenient in the process, namely teachers and parents of these pupils. From the analysis and interpretation of the results it is visible the effort educational communities have been making in order to adapt themselves to the inclusion of the multi/interculturality, namely linguistic, in spite of the difficulties they find, such as the lack of formation of teachers and the scarcity of resources to guarantee the success of this new school population. Likewise, it allowed to prove some data pointed out by the investigation, namely the dissemination of this population throughout the national territory and the generalization of the practice called "disqualification, by placing pupils in inferior levels to those they attended abroad. It was also possible to point out some of the factors that most contribute to their inclusion, of which stand out the establishment of solid affective relationship between these pupils and their peers and the necessity to use progressive and flexible methods, adapted to the needs and capacities of the pupils, able to guarantee an adequate proficiency level of the Portuguese language, as the key factor to their educational success.

O presente estudo tem o objetivo de investigar a adequao das transmisses (meios, estrutura das redes e interoperabilidade) atualmente empregues nas Baterias de Bocas de Fogo (Btrbf), face aos novos requisitos operacionais, presentemente materializados na necessidade de emprego de Unidades de Escalo Peloto (UEP), e dando resposta aos requisitos impostos pela implementao do Sistema Automtico de Comando e Controlo (SACC) da Artilharia de Campanha (AC) Portuguesa, procurando desta forma identificar que alteraes devero ocorrer. Para alcanar o desiderato proposto, recorremos a entrevistas exploratrias, com uma amostra de cinco oficiais, de forma aprofundar e expandir o conhecimento sobre a temtica em questo, usando posteriormente uma abordagem dedutiva, baseada nos resultados das entrevistas e em doutrina nacional e estrangeira, de forma a chegar a possveis concluses. Esta investigao centrou-se em trs grandes temticas: os novos requisitos no emprego da AC; o SACC e a problemtica das comunicaes; e o emprego de Pelotes de Bocas de Fogo (Pelbf), sendo que estas esto interligadas entre si na dimenso das redes e meios de comunicaes. Estas temticas foram abordadas com um raciocnio de forma descendente: partindo dos novos requisitos impostos atuao da AC, passando pelas limitaes do SACC e culminado com a identificao das redes e meios necessrios para o emprego de Pelbf. Como principais concluses deste estudo, apontamos a necessidade de resoluo das incompatibilidades entre os componentes do sistema automtico e o rdio ttico PRC-525, podendo a soluo passar pela atualizao do prprio SACC, para um sistema compatvel com o rdio portugus. Identificmos ainda a necessidade de introduzir uma nova rede, exclusiva da Btrbf, e adaptar algumas das existentes em funo do nvel de implementao do SACC. Estas redes implicam, diretamente, um reforo do nmero de meios rdio em certos rgos da Btrbf.

O presente trabalho de investigao aplicado perspetiva os contributos do desenvolvimento da contabilidade de gesto na Guarda subordina-se ao tema: As necessidades de informao conducentes ao desenvolvimento da contabilidade de gesto na Guarda Nacional Republicana. Para a prossecuo da investigao, adotou-se o modelo hipottico-dedutivo. Assim sendo, o estudo prima por verificar as hipteses, responder s perguntas derivadas e tem o propsito ltimo de dar resposta questo de partida. A metodologia empregue na realizao deste trabalho de investigao, foi delineada por Quivy & Campenhoudt (2008) e Sarmento (2013), na qual a anlise documental e a pesquisa bibliogrfica, as entrevistas, os inquritos por questionrio e as observaes diretas foram os procedimentos de recolha de dados empregues. Este trabalho de investigao constitudo por cinco captulos, esquematizados em trs partes, designadamente a Parte I Enquadramento terico, a Parte II Parte prtica e as concluses e recomendaes. Na parte I, so apresentados conceitos tericos, nomeadamente a definio de informao e os conceitos relacionados com os sistemas de informao. Em seguida, efetuada a abordagem terica aos conceitos, finalidade e contributos da contabilidade de gesto. A parte II expe os mtodos e procedimentos utilizados, a anlise e discusso dos resultados obtidos e so expostas as principais necessidades de informao de gesto das chefias. As concluses e recomendaes futuras so redigidas no ltimo captulo. Conclui-se que o contributo da contabilidade de gesto, poder ser preponderante para suprir as necessidades de informao das chefias da Guarda Nacional Republicana, uma vez que estas disporo de informao de gesto que por sua vez permite: a) avaliao dos servios mais criteriosa; b) determinao de necessidades; c) concretizao da economia, eficincia e eficcia; d) efetuar comparaes, anlises e o controlo dos gastos; e, e) identificar a duplicao de gastos e tarefas. Em suma, contribui para a melhoria do desempenho organizacional.

Expertise in physics has been traditionally studied in cognitive science, where physics expertise is understood through the difference between novice and expert problem solving skills. The cognitive perspective of physics experts only create a partial model of physics expertise and does not take into account the development of physics experts in the natural context of research. This dissertation takes a social and cultural perspective of learning through apprenticeship to model the development of physics expertise of physics graduate students in a research group. I use a qualitative methodological approach of an ethnographic case study to observe and video record the common practices of graduate students in their biophysics weekly research group meetings. I recorded notes on observations and conduct interviews with all participants of the biophysics research group for a period of eight months. I apply the theoretical framework of Communities of Practice to distinguish the cultural norms of the group that cultivate physics expert practices. Results indicate that physics expertise is specific to a topic or subfield and it is established through effectively publishing research in the larger biophysics research community. The participant biophysics research group follows a learning trajectory for its students to contribute to research and learn to communicate their research in the larger biophysics community. In this learning trajectory students develop expert member competencies to learn to communicate their research and to learn the standards and trends of research in the larger research community. Findings from this dissertation expand the model of physics expertise beyond the cognitive realm and add the social and cultural nature of physics expertise development. This research also addresses ways to increase physics graduate student success towards their PhD. and decrease the 48% attrition rate of physics graduate students. Cultivating effective research experiences that give graduate students agency and autonomy beyond their research groups gives students the motivation to finish graduate school and establish their physics expertise.

Conventional topic models are ineffective for topic extraction from microblog messages since the lack of structure and context among the posts renders poor message-level word co-occurrence patterns. In this work, we organize microblog posts as conversation trees based on reposting and replying relations, which enrich context information to alleviate data sparseness. Our model generates words according to topic dependencies derived from the conversation structures. In specific, we differentiate messages as leader messages, which initiate key aspects of previously focused topics or shift the focus to different topics, and follower messages that do not introduce any new information but simply echo topics from the messages that they repost or reply. Our model captures the different extents that leader and follower messages may contain the key topical words, thus further enhances the quality of the induced topics. The results of thorough experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed model.
