Child dietary and eating behaviour outcomes up to 3.5 years after an early feeding intervention: the NOURISH RCT

- Objective To evaluate dietary intake impact outcomes up to 3.5 years after the NOURISH early feeding intervention (concealed allocation, assessor masked RCT). - Methods 698 first-time mothers with healthy term infants were allocated to receive anticipatory guidance on protective feeding practices or usual care. Outcomes were assessed at 2, 3.7 and 5 years (3.5 years post-intervention). Dietary intake was assessed by 24-hour recall and Child Dietary Questionnaire. Mothers completed a food preference questionnaire and Children’s Eating Behaviour Questionnaire. Linear mixed models assessed group, time and time x group effects. - Results There were no group or time x group effects for fruit, vegetables, discretionary food and non-milk sweetened beverages intake. Intervention children showed a higher preference for fruits (74.6% vs 69.0% liked, P<.001), higher Child Dietary Questionnaire score for fruit and vegetables (15.3 vs 14.5, target>18, P=0.03), lower food responsiveness (2.3 vs 2.4, of maximum 5, P=.04) and higher satiety responsiveness (3.1 vs 3.0, of maximum 5, P=.04). - Conclusions Compared to usual care, an early feeding intervention providing anticipatory guidance regarding positive feeding practices led to small improvements in child dietary score, food preferences and eating behaviours up to 5 years of age, but not in dietary intake measured by 24-hour recall.

Der Prediger vom weißen Berg : Zur Rezeption der besseren Gerechtigkeit aus Mt 5 in Martin Luthers Predigtüberlieferung 1522 1546.

The purpose of this study is to examine the reception of Matthew 5 in Martin Luther s sermons; in other words to investigate how Luther interprets and applies Jesus teaching of the better righteousness and the law in Mt 5. The study applies the reception-historical approach and contributes to the history of effects and the history of interpretation in New Testament exegesis. The study shows that Luther understands the better righteousness of Mt 5 as good works and fulfillment of the law. Luther s interpretation coheres with the intention of the Evangelist, even if Luther s overall concept of righteousness is foreign to Matthew. In Luther s view righteousness is twofold: The greater righteousness of Mt 5 is the second and the actual righteousness (iustitia activa), which follows the first and the foreign righteousness (iustitia passiva). The first righteousness (faith) is for Luther the work of God, while the second righteousness (good works) is co-operation between a Christian and God. In this co-operation the law, as it is taught by Jesus, is not the opposite of the gospel, but the gospel itself in the sense of Christ as an example . The task of the law is to show the dependence of a Christian on God and to help one to love and to serve one s neighbour (brothers as well as enemies) properly. The study underlines a feature in Luther s thinking that has received little attention in Lutheran theology: Luther insists on preaching the law to Christians. In his view Mt 5 is directed to all Christians and particularly to pastors, for whom Jesus here gives an example of how to preach the law. Luther believes similarly to Matthew that Jesus reveals the real meaning of Mosaic Law and confirms its validity for Christians in Mt 5. Like Matthew, Luther insists on the practicability of the commandments of Mt 5 in his view Christians fulfil the law also with joy yet his interpretation of Mt 5 attenuates the radical nature of its commandments. Luther s reception of the individual pericopes of Mt 5 is considerably generative and occasionally contradictory, which is explained by the following factors, among others: Luther receives many ideas from tradition and reads them and his own theological concepts into Matthew s Gospel. He interprets Mt 5 through his understanding of some Old Testament passages as well as Paul. Most of all, Luther s reception of Mt 5 is shaped by his own experience as a preacher, by his relation to his religious enemies, rulers and to the congregation of Wittenberg. Here Luther shares with Matthew the experience of being opposed and concern about the upright living of the believers, which in both cases also explains the polemical tone of the paraenesis.

Neutron-diffraction study of structure and conformation of nucleotide uridine-5 phosphate (disodium salt)

Acta Crystallographica Section A: Foundations of Crystallography covers theoretical and fundamental aspects of the structure of matter. The journal is the prime forum for research in diffraction physics and the theory of crystallographic structure determination by diffraction methods using X-rays, neutrons and electrons. The structures include periodic and aperiodic crystals, and non-periodic disordered materials, and the corresponding Bragg, satellite and diffuse scattering, thermal motion and symmetry aspects. Spatial resolutions range from the subatomic domain in charge-density studies to nanodimensional imperfections such as dislocations and twin walls. The chemistry encompasses metals, alloys, and inorganic, organic and biological materials. Structure prediction and properties such as the theory of phase transformations are also covered.

Molecular complexes of macrocyclic polyethers with 1, 3, 5-trinitrobenzene

The interaction of six macrocyclic polyethers with 1, 3, 5-trinitrobenzene has been studied by spectroscopic methods. The association constants have been evaluated by1HMR chemical shift method. There is evidence that major contribution to the interaction isvia n andπ electrons. The donor strengths of the polyethers have been evaluated.

Long-term use of custom-made orthopedic shoes: A 1.5-year follow-up study

This study investigated long-term use of custom-made orthopedic shoes (OS) at 1.5 years follow-up. In addition, the association between short-term outcomes and long-term use was studied. Patients from a previously published study who did use their first-ever pair of OS 3 months after delivery received another questionnaire after 1.5 years. Patients with different pathologies were included in the study (n = 269, response = 86%). Mean age was 63 ± 14 years, and 38% were male. After 1.5 years, 87% of the patients still used their OS (78% frequently [4-7 days/week] and 90% occasionally [1-3 days/week]) and 13% of the patients had ceased using their OS. Patients who were using their OS frequently after 1.5 years had significantly higher scores for 8 of 10 short-term usability outcomes (p-values ranged from <0.001 to 0.046). The largest differences between users and nonusers were found for scores on the short-term outcomes of OS fit and communication with the medical specialist and shoe technician (effect size range = 0.16 to 0.46). We conclude that patients with worse short-term usability outcomes for their OS are more likely to use their OS only occasionally or not at all at long-term follow-up.

Autuus on katsojan silmässä: lukijakeskeinen tutkimus autuaaksijulistuksista Matt. 5 : 1-12 on reseptioanalyyttisellä metodilla tehty tutkimus siitä, miten akateeminen tutkimuskirjallisuus ja kymmenen valikoitua Jeesus-elokuvaa ovat ymmärtäneet autuaaksijulistusten merkityksen. Kartoitettuaan autuaaksijulistusten tulkintahistoriaa ja Jeesus-elokuvien kulttuurihistoriaa tutkielma kääntyy reseptiohistorialliseksi analyysiksi. Akateemisen tutkimuskirjallisuuden ja Jeesus-elokuvien esittämät tulkinnat Matteuksen evankeliumin autuaaksijulistuksista rinnas-tetaan suhteessa autuaaksijulistusten tyyliin, sisältöön, rakenteeseen ja merkitykseen. Autuaaksijulistusten tyylin tulkinnan analysointi tapahtuu vertailemalla millainen narratiivinen sijainti autuaaksijulistuksille on tarinassa annettu, millaiseksi elokuvat ja tutkimuskirjallisuus tulkitsevat julistusten esitykselliset puitteet sekä mitä näkemyksiä niillä on julistusten kohdeyleisöstä ja Jeesuksen esiintymistavasta. Autuaaksijulistusten sisällön analysointi tarkoittaa yksittäisten autuaaksijulistusten merkityksen selvittelyä. Tämä tapahtuu edelleen Jeesus-elokuvien ja tutkimuskirjallisuuden tekemiä tulkintoja vertailemalla. Näiden lisäksi tekijä esittää oman käännöksensä autuaaksijulistuksista eksegeettisen analyysin keinoin. Käännöksen tavoitteena ei kuitenkaan ole sanatarkkuus, vaan dynaamisuus lukijan tulkinnan säilyttämiseksi. Autuaaksijulistusten rakenteen analysointi esittelee muutamia erilaisia malleja, joiden mukaan tutkimuskirjallisuudessa Matteuksen evankeliumin autuaaksijulistuksia on ryhmitelty. Tässä alaluvussa elokuva-aineiston ja tutkimuskirjallisuuden erot ovat selkeimmin näkyvillä, sillä elokuvat pyrkivät ryhmittelyn sijasta luomaan autuaaksijulistuksille kokonaan uuden rakenteen, joka sopii elokuvakerrontaan julistuslistaa paremmin. Autuaaksijulistusten merkitystä analysoitaessa tutkielmassa asetetaan rinnan kolme Jeesus-elokuvaa, jotka edustavat tulkintahistoriasta tuttuja tulkinnallisia pääsuuntia: autuaaksijulistukset tulkitaan joko eettisiksi kehotuksiksi tai lupauksiksi armosta. Kolmas Jeesus-elokuva edustaa kontroversiaalista näkemystä, joka kiistää molemmat edellä mainitut tulkintatavat. Legacies of War--[Ten percent terror]

Ten Percent Terror brings together leading creatives from the fields of contemporary theatre, contemporary dance, music theatre, circus and digital arts in the first collaboration of its kind. Commissioned by Brisbane Powerhouse, with support from the Anzac Centenary Arts and Culture Fund and in partnership with Dancenorth and Company 2, this is an inter-disciplinary work that combines theatrical narrative with eloquent physicality, through circus and dance, to express certain truths of the soldiers' experience. This production will be a circus-narrative that uses the form and language of circus to express the key themes of risk, panic and brotherhood. Ten Percent Terror is intended to be a work of scale, yet also intimacy: of stillness and panic, inertia and chaos. Project partners, Dancenorth and Company 2, share the vision to use contemporary artistic disciplines to connect younger and modern audiences to the ANZAC legacy, perhaps offering a connection for those audiences that they may not find through more traditional art forms. The development process has included a community research project in Townsville, conducted by Shane Pike, which explored contemporary Australians’ stories through interviews with serving military personnel and the local community, as well as collecting photographic documentation and other artefacts from around Townsville. This was followed by an archival research project in Brisbane, where Pike reviewed letters, photographs and personal accounts of soldiers from WW1. The results of these projects will be used by the creative team to inform the development of Ten Percent Terror. Given Townsville’s reputation as Australia’s ‘garrison’ city, the project partners plan to deliver the world premiere performance of Ten Percent Terror in Townsville in late 2015. It is intended that Ten Percent Terror will receive its Brisbane premiere in November 2015 at Brisbane Powerhouse, as part of a four-performance season. This expert panel included discussion of the project and its place in analysing key aspects of Australia's wartime history.

Temperature dependence of chlorine NQR in 2-chloro 5-nitrobenzoic acid and 4-chloro 3-nitrobenzoic acid

Temperature dependence of chlorine nuclear quadrupole resonance in 2-chloro 5-nitrobenzoic acid and 4-chloro 3-nitrobenzoic acid has been investigated in the region 77° K to room temperature. No phase transition has been observed. The results are analysed to obtain the torsional frequencies and their temperature dependence. A nonlinear temperature dependence is obtained for the torsional frequencies.

Electrical transport in Bi doped n-type amorphous semiconductors (GeSe3.5)100-xBix at high pressure

Electrical transport in Bi doped amorphous semiconductors (GeSe3.5)100-xBix (x=0,4,10) is studied in a Bridgman anvil system up to a pressure of 90 kbar and down to 77 K. A pressure induced continuous transition from an amorphous semiconductor to a metal-like solid is observed in GeSe3.5. The addition of Bi disturbs significantly the behaviour of resistivity with pressure. The results are discussed in the light of molecular cluster model for GeySe1-y proposed by Phillips.

Studies on nucleotidases in plants Dimerization of the crystalline mung bean nucleotide pyrophosphatase by 5-adenosine monophosphate and the properties of the dimerized enzyme

The addition of AMP to the crystalline and homogeneous mung bean nucleotide pyrophosphatase [EC 3.6.1.9]altered its electrophoretic mobility. AMP was tightly bound to the enzyme and was not removed on passage through a column of Sephadex G-25 or on electrophoresis. The molecular weight of the native and AMP-modified enzymes were 65,000 and 136,000, respectively. The properties of the native enzyme such as the pH (9.4) and temperature (49 °C) optima, inhibition by EDTA, reversal of EDTA-inhibition by Zn2+ and Co2+, were not altered on dimerization by AMP. The AMP-modified enzyme had a linear time-course of reaction, unlike the native enzyme which exhibited a biphasic time-course of reaction. The AMP-modified enzyme was irreversibly denatured by urea. AMP concentrations larger than 100 μM inhibited linearly the activity of the AMP-modified enzyme. ADP and ATP inhibited the activity in a sigmoidal manner. Km and V of the native and AMP-modified enzymes were, 0.25 mImage and 0.58 mImage ; and 3.3 and 2.5, respectively.

Knoevenagel condensation of 2-carbethoxycyclohexanone and malononitrile: Synthesis of 4-cyano-3-ethoxy-1-hydroxy-5,6,7,8-tetrahydroisoquinoline, an isomer of the abnormal product

The structure of the abnormal product 1a formed in the Knoevenagel condensation of 2-carbethoxycyclohexanone and malononitrile has been further confirmed. Oxidation of the tetrahydroisoquinoline 3b using Na2Cr2O-AcOH-H2SO4 gave the keto isoquinoline 3d and the isoquinoline-1-carboxylic acid 5a. The acid chloride of 5a was condensed with diethyl ethoxymagnesiomalonate to afford after decarbethoxylation the methyl ketone 5d which on Baeyer-Villiger oxidation gave a mixture of the acetate 1g and the title compound 1b. The unambiguous synthesis of 1b confirms the structure assigned earlier to the title compound also formed during the partial hydrolysis of the diethoxy compound 1c. Condensation of 2-acetylcyclohexane-1,3-dione with malononitrile gave the quinoline derivative 4c which on ethylation yielded the ketoquinoline 4d. The present studies have confirmed that the quinoline compound 4a is also formed in the condensation of 2-acetylcyclohexanone and cyanoacetamide.

Bromination of Intermolecular Chelate Linkage Isomers of 3-Oximino-4,9-Dimethyl (or 4,7,9-Trimethyl)-5,8-Diazadodeca-4,8-Diene-2,11-Dionato Nickel(II)

The reaction of the title complexes (FIG. 1) with N-bromosuccinimide or bromine in chloroform yields isomeric bromo complexes on substitution of the γ-CH carbon proton by bromine. The brominated products have been characterised by ir, pmr, electronic absorption spectra, conductivity and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The linkage isomerisation of the brominated products in chloroform has been shown to depend on the diamine residue.

Critical behaviour of electrical resistivity in 5 binary liquid systems

For five binary liquid systems CS2+CH3CN, CS2+CH3NO2, CS2+(CH3CO)2O, C6H12+(CH3CO)2O, n-C7H16+(CH3CO)2O, the electrical resistance has been measured near the critical solution temperatures. The behaviour is universal. Below Tc, the conductivities of the two phases follow σ1−σ2 β, where = T−Tc Tc with β≈0.35. In the one phase region with b≈0.35±0.1 and is positive in some cases and negative in others.
