Aproximació a la realitat, influències i expectatives dels obrers de la ciutat de Mataró, durant el darrer terç del segle XIX, basada principalment en la lectura de la premsa local de l'època. Amb la intenció d'il·lustrar les llums i ombres de la industrialització i del liberalisme econòmic en una fase incipient, a través d'un col·lectiu social representatiu.

Intel·ligència emocional : una aproximació crítica

L'objectiu d'aquest treball és intentar reflexionar sobre tots aquests interrogants i redefinir el concepte d'intel·ligència al començament del segle XXI, analitzant alhora l'impacte real que la IE ha tingut i té en el món de l'empresa espanyola. En conjunt, el treball proposa una relectura del fenomen de la intel·ligència humana i recull tant les opinions de més relleu dels autors més significatius com dades empíriques que ajuden a comprendre de manera pràctica si realment hi ha hagut, o s'està produint, una autèntica mutació social en la comprensió de la intel·ligència.

Evolution de l'intensité moyenne et de la fréquence des précipitations en Suisse de 1900 à 2009

Les précipitations moyennes et les nombres de jours de pluie par saison et par an ont été analysés pour 151 séries de mesures pluviométriques en Suisse de 1900 à 2009. Ces analyses révèlent que les précipitations moyennes ont augmenté durant le 20ème siècle pour toutes les saisons, sauf en été. Cette hausse est la plus marquée en hiver, surtout dans le Nord des Alpes et en Valais. Les nombres de jours de pluie ont également augmenté en hiver, mais moins fortement que les précipitations moyennes, alors qu'ils tendent à diminuer très légèrement durant les autres saisons. On en déduit que l'intensité moyenne des précipitations s'est accrue en Suisse durant le 20ème siècle en toutes saisons.

Die Untersuchung verfolgt mehrere Ziele: -> erstens soll der Informationsstand über die Aktivitäten zur Aidsbekämpfung in den Kantonen erhöht werden, -> zweitens sollen Lösungsmodelle bezüglich des Umgangs mit dem Problem vergleichen dargestellt werden, -> drittens sollen Erkenntnisse darüber gesammelt werden, welche Individuen sich als besonders gute Vermittler präventiver Botschaften eignen.

Die Analyse der Medienreporte untersucht vor allem Prozesse wie die Verbreitung der Botschaft der Kampagne STOP AIDS durch die Medien, die Verbreitung von informellen und institutionellen Aktionen (zum Beispiel die Aktivitäten zur Aufklärung in den Schulen), die Rolle der Multiplikatoren (Aids-Hilfe, Informanten an öffentlichen Veranstaltungen), den Meinungsbildungsprozess zur Aidsproblematik im allgemeinen und zur Präventionsstrategie im besonderen, soweit dieser in den Medien abgebildet, beziehungsweise von den Medien getragen wird. Im weiteren beachtet die Analyse Rückmeldungen über die Effekte (Resultate) der Kampagne (Beurteilung der Wirkung der Kampagne, zum Beispiel auf das Verhalten von Jugendlichen, Fixern). Estimating the incidence of cancers in Switzerland: 1983-1987.

Estimates have recently been made of the incidence of cancers in the countries of the European Community. Similar estimates are given for Switzerland, based on data from the six Swiss cantonal cancer registries, all of which have been operating for at least 12 years. These registries cover Basel, Geneva, Neuchatel, St Gall and Appenzell, Vaud and Zurich, which account for about 50% of the Swiss population as a whole. Two different methods were used to extrapolate from the incidences observed in the regions covered by cancer registration to the entire country. The first method is based solely on the distribution of populations according to the country's main linguistic groups, whereas the second relies on mortality data. Estimates obtained by the second approach are presented and their reliability is discussed. Comparison of the age incidence curve with that of Denmark tends to confirm the validity of the estimations. Estimated standardised rates (world population) for all sites except nonmelanomatous skin cancer are 294.3 for males and 214.2 for females. Comparisons with other European countries show that in males, lung cancer is relatively less common in Switzerland, whereas in females, breast cancer is relatively more frequent.

After Satan : Essays in Honour of Neil Forsyth

This volume is the result of a collective desire to pay homage to Neil Forsyth, whose work has significantly contributed to scholarship on Satan. This volume is "after" Satan in more ways than one, tracing the afterlife of both the satanic figure in literature and of Neil Forsyth's contribution to the field, particularly in his major books The Old Enemy: Satan and the Combat Myth (Princeton University Press, 1987, revised 1990) and The Satanic Epic (Princeton University Press, 2003). The essays in this volume draw on Forsyth's work as a focus for their analyses of literary encounters with evil or with the Devil himself, reflecting the richness and variety of contemporary approaches to the age-old question of how to represent evil. All the contributors acknowledge Neil Forsyth's influence in the study of both the Satan-figure and Milton's Paradise Lost. But beyond simply paying homage to Neil Forsyth, the articles collected here trace the lineage of the Satan figure through literary history, showing how evil can function as a necessary other against which a community may define itself. They chart the demonised other through biblical history and medieval chronicle, Shakespeare and Milton, to nineteenth-century fiction and the contemporary novel. Many of the contributors find that literary evil is mediated through the lens of the Satan of Paradise Lost, and their articles address the notion, raised by Neil Forsyth in The Satanic Epic, that the literary Devil-figures under consideration are particularly interested in linguistic ambivalence and the twisted texture of literary works themselves. The multiple responses to evil and the continuous reinvention of the devil figure through the centuries all reaffirm the textual presence of the Devil, his changing forms necessarily inscribed in the shifting history of western literary culture. These essays are a tribute to the work of Neil Forsyth, whose scholarship has illuminated and guided the study of the Devil in English and other literatures.

Un insecte desconegut fins aleshores, la fil•loxera, originari del continent americà i contra el qual les vinyes europees no disposaven de cap mena de defensa, va destruir en un marge de cinquanta anys tots els antics ceps d'Europa.
