Since the beginning of the Haitian theatrical tradition there has been an ineluctable dedication to the representation of Haitian history on stage. Given the rich theatrical archive about Haiti throughout the world, this study considers operas and plays written solely by Haitian playwrights. By delving into the works of Juste Chanlatte, Massillon Coicou, and Vendenesse Ducasse this study proposes a re-reading of Haitian theater that considers the stage as an innovative site for contesting negative and clichéd representations of the Haitian Revolution and its revolutionary leadership. A genre long mired in accusations of mimicking European literary forms, this study proposes a reevaluation of Haitian theater and its literary origins.

Nascida para permitir que seus criadores possam atender suas próprias necessidades, a técnica científica sempre desempenhou papel significativo na civilização humana. Este é o contexto em que podemos vislumbrar o advento da tecnociência moderna, que tem contribuído significativamente para o incremento do controle humano sobre a natureza. Este estudo tem por objetivo analisar, sob o enfoque da bioética, reflexões sobre como a filosofia da ciência entende a neutralidade da ciência e sua convergência com a racionalidade epistêmica, bem como relacionar essas reflexões ao processo de tomada de decisões na administração da tecnociência. O estudo levantou dúvidas sobre a capacidade do conhecimento tecnocientífico para legitimar e justificar as decisões no âmbito dos sistemas de ciência e tecnologia nacionais, sinalizando assim a necessidade de promover ligação entre a auto-regulação tecnocientífico e hetero-regulação bioética. ______________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT

Based on the contribuions from Ryngaert (1995); Prado (2009); Magaldi (2008); Faria (1998); Heliodora (2008); Guinsburg, Faria and Lima (2009), refering to the constituion of the theatrical discourse, in studies of Fausto (2012); Cotrim (2005); Gaspari (2002) and Garcia (2008), about the notes Brazilian historical and the theoretical presupposes of Carvalhal (2003, 2006); Nitrini (2000); Nascimento (2006) and Maddaluno (1991) to approach to the study of comparative literature, this work aims to analyze the play Liberdade, liberdade (1965), by Millôr Fernandes and Flávio Rangel whit the Brazilian dictatorship period (1964-1985). This play was written and performed at the beginning of the regime, as it wished to withdraw from the scheme repressor that dominated Brazil. Millôr Fernandes and Flávio Rangel resorted to the use of classical texts and historical preparation for the work, and make use of music to bring up the subject of ceaseless quest for freedom. The play runs from dramatic to comedic, supported by political discourse, which leads, the called Theatre of resistance. For this work, the basic procedure was the literature search. Through the analysis of the dramatic text and the recurrent use of bricolage (collage of historical texts), perceives the practice of intertextuality theme. Thus, one can understand that Liberdade, liberdade is a dramatic text produced in the second half of the twentieth century, which establishes dialogue with texts embodied historical aspect with literary verve.

Nature, science and technology. The image of Finland through popular enlightenment texts 1870-1920 This doctoral thesis looks at how Finnish popular enlightenment texts published between 1870 and 1920 took part in the process of forming a genuine Finnish national identity. The same process was occurring in other Nordic countries at the time and the process in Finland was in many ways influenced by them, particularly Sweden. In Finland the political realities under Russian rule especially during the Russification years, and the fact that its history was considered to be short compared to other European countries, made this nation-building process unique. The undertaking was led by members of the national elite, influential in the cultural, academic as well as political arenas, who were keen to support the foundation of a modern Finnish identity. The political realities and national philosophy of history necessitated a search for elements of identity in nature and the Finnish landscape, which were considered to have special national importance: Finland was very much determined as a political entity on the basis of its geography and nature. Nature was also used as means of taking a cultural or political view in terms of, for example, geographical facts such as the nation s borders or the country s geographical connections to Western Europe. In the building of a proper national identity the concept of nature was not, however, static, but was more or less affected by political and economic progress in society. This meant that nature, or the image of the national landscape, was no longer seen only as a visual image of the national identity, but also as a source of science, technology and a prosperous future. The role of technology in this process was very much connected to the ability to harness natural resources to serve national interests. The major change in this respect had occurred by the early 20th century, when indisputable scientific progress altered the relationship between nature and technology. Concerning technology, the thesis is mainly interested in the large and at the time modern technological manifestations, such as railways, factories and industrial areas in Finland. Despite the fact that the symbiosis between national nature and international but successfully localized technology was in Finnish popular enlightenment literature depicted mostly as a national success story, concerns began to arise already in last years of the 19th century. It was argued that the emerging technology would eventually destroy Finland s natural environment, and therefore the basis of its national identity. The question was not how to preserve nature through natural science, but more how to conserve such natural resources and images that were considered to be the basis of national identity and thus of the national history. National parks, isolated from technology, and distant enough so as to have no economic value, were considered the solution to the problem. Methodologically the thesis belongs to the genre of science and technology studies, and offers new viewpoints with regard to both the study of Finnish popular enlightenment literature and the national development process as a whole.

Le thème de la culture (Bildung) se caractérise d’abord, dans l’ensemble de l’œuvre de Hegel, par sa diversité contextuelle. Bien que la culture y soit définie spécifiquement comme un mode de développement propre à l’humain, à la différence de l’usage usuel du terme en allemand, cette diversité fait en sorte qu’on la retrouve aussi bien dans les remarques anthropologiques les plus anodines que dans les passages s’intéressant à l’histoire de l’esprit du monde ou encore les textes de nature politique. Il s’agit donc, dans le présent travail, d’étudier pour eux-mêmes les différents contextes généraux dans lesquels la notion apparaît (Phénoménologie de l’esprit, philosophie politique et philosophie de l’histoire) pour en arriver à retracer le fil conducteur donnant à la culture hégélienne son unité de sens. Loin d’être un concept indéterminé, la culture désigne, à tous les niveaux où il se manifeste, le dynamisme propre à l’esprit.

Ce mémoire se propose d’aborder le concept adornien de matériau musical selon deux de ses moments essentiels : l’intégration et la désintégration. Dans un premier temps, il s’agira d’analyser la critique de l’Aufklärung, selon laquelle la rationalité éclairée, par la domination progressive de la nature, se transforme en son contraire, le mythe. Cette analyse servira de base théorique pour la compréhension du concept de matériau. Dans un deuxième temps, il conviendra d’examiner la tendance progressiste—exemplifiée dans la sonate classique de Beethoven—vers l’intégration du matériau musical, comprise comme un moment dans le processus plus large de rationalisation sociale identifié par Max Weber. Dans un troisième temps, il conviendra d’examiner la tendance régressive—exemplifiée dans les œuvres du Beethoven tardif, de Mahler et de Berg—vers la désintégration du matériau musical, une tendance qui reflète les aspects noirs de l’Aufklärung, à savoir la fragmentation sociale et la réification. Enfin, nous évaluerons quelques commentaires critiques soulevant des doutes quant à la validité d’un concept de matériau musical basé sur une philosophie de l’histoire qui, malgré ses distances, ne s’échappe pas de ses origines hégéliennes.

En se penchant sur L’homme révolté d’Albert Camus, ce mémoire entend évaluer la pertinence de la révolte camusienne à l’aube du troisième millénaire. Du constat de l’absurde quant à la condition existentielle de l’homme, Camus a esquissé une révolte affranchie de toute idéologie en démontant, entre autres, les mécanismes propres à la philosophie de l’histoire et au nihilisme. À partir de la critique des pensées hégélienne, nietzschéenne et marxienne, il a tenté de définir les caractéristiques inhérentes à la révolte. Rédigé au milieu du XXe siècle, L’homme révolté est marqué par les séquelles d’une histoire chaotique déjà plus que cinquantenaire. Pour autant, son propos semble être encore d’actualité. Avec la complicité de philosophes contemporains tels que Cornélius Castoriadis, Pierre Rosanvallon et Bernard Stiegler, c’est autant la pertinence de la révolte camusienne qui est ici considérée qu’une corrélation entre cette révolte et la dignité humaine. L’homme révolté a-t-il encore sa place en ce début du troisième millénaire et dans l’affirmative : quelle est cette place?

La tesis llamada “Althusser: un encuentro con el sinsentido de la historia” tiene un objetivo: determinar qué quiso decir Althusser al sostener que “la historia de la humanidad, es decir, la historia de las sociedades, se dirige a ninguna parte”. Para esto, esta tesis se encuentra dividida en tres partes: primero, se habla acerca de la forma en la cual Althusser pensó “la totalidad social”, en especial, cómo pensó: “el modo de producción económico”, “la sobredeterminación” y “el tiempo especial de una sociedad”. En la segunda parte, yo hablo acerca de cómo Althusser pensó “la ideología” y su tiempo propio, o forma especial de ser. Y en la tercera parte se habla de la relación entre Althusser y Epicuro; las palabras: “clinamen” y “desviación mínima” son cruciales para entender lo que Althusser significó cuando habló del sinsentido de la Historia.

El propósito de este ensayo radica en ubicar la filosofía política judía como un problema propiamente filosófico, tal como ha sido planteado por Leo Strauss. Esta tarea implica que descartemos tratar el asunto de la filosofía política, y específicamente su distintivo judío, como una subdisciplina de la filosofía o como parte de un manual de historia de la filosofía. La filosofía política judía, por el contrario, es el escenario donde pueden ser develadas las respuestas sobre los problemas que aquejan al pensamiento político contemporáneo. En ese sentido, resulta necesario abandonar el prejuicio moderno de considerar a las ideas del pasado inferiores respecto a las perspectivas de nuestro tiempo. La comprensión de la filosofía política judía exige que estemos preparados para aprender algo de los filósofos judíos, pero no podemos llegar a tal punto sin antes esbozar los términos en los que esa aproximación debería ser efectuada.---Prolegomena to the problem of the jewish political philosophyThe purpose of this paper is to locate the Jewish political philosophy as a philosophical problem itself, as has been raised by Leo Strauss. This task requires that the Jewish political philosophy is not considered a subdiscipline of philosophy or as part of a history of philosophy’s handbook. Jewish political philosophy, by contrast, is the scene where the answers on the problems facing the contemporary political thought can be unveiled. In this sense, it is necessary to abandon the modern prejudice of considering the past ideas lower about the prospects of our time. The understanding of Jewish political philosophy requires that we are prepared to learn from the Jewish philosophers, but we can not go that far without outlining the terms in which this approach should be made.Key words: political philosophy, Jewish philosophy, philosophy of history---Prolegômenos ao problema da filosofia política judaicaO Propósito deste ensaio radica em localizar a política judaica como um problema propriamente filosófico, tal como tem sido exposto por Leo Strauss. This article intends to offer, in an introductory way, a reflection in order to build an interpretation of the Sigmund Freud's thought, orchestrating notions such as the ones of progress of civilization, which would be his philosophy of history; an investigation on his conceptions about "human nature"; culminating in a brief reflection on some points of philosophy of nature that underlies his thought. We anticipate that we recognize in the latter, characteristics assimilated by analogy to the entropy concept of modern physics. Among other features, such as compared and methodological reference with some of Kant's theses about the same notions, we also present in a short way two metapsychological aspects of Freudian theory on human sexuality, the biological and physiological, both aiming to give support to the reflections on the sense of finality.

Este artigo foi escrito em agosto/83, para conferência-debate na Jornada de Filosofia da UNESP (Campus de Marília, setembro de 1983). Partindo de aproximações Marx/Hegel sobre o tema da fatalidade histórica, passamos a discutir a reprodução da força de trabalho como parte do capital, entendido este último, por sua vez, como relação social. Este exame é feito na esteira de algumas passagens de O Capital e dos Grundrisse. A seguir, procedemos à leitura de alguns fatos contemporâneos à luz dessa anatomia cínica.
